We are 69 and 75 yrs, involved in golf croquet, bridge, Mah Jong, Bolivia, Bushy Park Wildlife Sanctuary (Board member) and the Association of Administration Professionals NZ. We enjoy walking, riding e bikes and reading, and are keen gardeners. We have travelled a lot overseas but would like to revisit a lot of areas in NZ in our retirement. For January sits only, we often have our two grandchildren with us13 and 15 years old. They have come with us for the last 5 years and this has not been a problem. In fact they help to entertain dogs who like to play and fetch ball a lot. For the past 20 years we have done 25 home exchanges mainly in USA, Australia, England, Italy, Belgium, Austria and Ireland. Some of these involved looking after pets as well as owners' homes. We have also done 30 house and pets sits in NZ and Australia. Our most recent house sits were in Perth looking after two border collies and two cats in Sept 2024, in Wellington looking after a Sydney Silkie for a week in May 2024, lifestyle blocks in New Plymouth in Jan 2024 looking after alpacas, a border collie, a labrador and a cat; in Jan 2023 another lifestyle block looking after chickens, geese, pigs, piglets, steers, cats, a border collie and fish - a complex feeding programme for this sit with the variety of animals., We have spent three weeks in Cairns in 2016 looking after Angel, a shitzu, 2 weeks in Christchurch looking after two shitzus; four weeks in Toowoomba, Brisbane in 2017 looking after a bichon, 2 weeks in Whanganui looking after a Labrador and KC the cat; and in Palmerston North, NZ looking after 2 bichons Maisie and Maggie in 2018 twice; and a Bichon and shitzhu and Burmese cat in New Plymouth, 2 labs in Te Puke in 2019 and a boxer in Christchurch for 3 weeks in 2020. More recently we have looked after Maltese/ shih zhu, border terriers, collies, pigs, geese, fish, chickens, birds, sheep and cows. All the dogs were gorgeous and loved going for walks, going out in the car and playing ball in the park. If the dogs are elderly or small we are mindful of their walking limitations. We have had cats over the years and more recently looked after our adult sons' dogs; cavoodles and a heading/pointer cross. We have also looked after cocker spaniels and labradors. Graeme is particularly fond of border collies and we would have one except we have a small section and travel a fair bit. I have been employed as a PA at the local hospital for the past 24 years and on casual project work. We are both now retired; Graeme is a handyman type and maintains our house and garden to a high standard. We have built and landscaped two homes, taking pride in keeping them well maintained. We are reliable, clean, honest and caring of pets. We are happy to take your dog(s) for walks and out with us in the car if they like car trips. We would look after your home as you would and you can be reassured things will be left as we find them. We are happy to talk to and play with your pets, mow lawns and water gardens if needed. Hi there, My name is Jeanette and I am 67 years old. I have been temping (well for the last 7 years) since selling my house . So I sold it and am currently house sit. In 2017 I had to put my 15 yr old labrador down and am holding off getting another dog until I have a permanent home again. However I miss having animals to come home to and love gardening so felt that house sitting would enable me to fill both of these passions. Housesitting will also enable me to save money while I am on a reduced income to build up my reserves. I was raised in Christchurch, Lower Hutt and Dunedin before returning to Christchurch at the end of my school years. I had guinea pigs and budgies as pets and a dog as I got older. More recently I have had a black Labrador whom I had to have put down last September at the grand old age of 15. I have also owned horses and have worked with sheep and cattle in my career in animal health. I am a responsible and respectful person who wants to help out families by looking after their property and pets while they are away. I am also very friendly and trustworthy and your pets will enjoy my company just as much as I will enjoy theirs. I am very happy to indulge myself in pulling weeds and lawn mowing as a form of therapy when house sitting if required and am reasonably knowledgeable about looking after gardens. Hi I have lived in Hamilton, New Zealand all my life and I am married to Nick for 33 years and we have grown up children, a daughter and two sons and I thought it would be fun to housesit as a way to see NZ. Our daughter is married and living in Christchurch and we have one grandchild. I enjoy walking and going to daily gym classes and my husband enjoys long bike rides. We are very active. I managed a house we own as an Airbnb for over two years managing bookings per night so I know what is involved in caring for a home. I have dealt with many different nationalities and many situations that arise from having a home on Airbnb. I ensured our Airbnb house was clean and well presented and that the garden was appealing and well managed. I have always had pets those being cats, dogs, chickens, canaries, goldfish - although we do not presently have a pet as sadly our beautiful 14 year old dog Bosco passed away this year My husband is experienced in managing livestock as he was brought up on a farm. I know how to care for animals giving them time, exercise, fresh water and good food. I am also aware of the signs of when a pet is feeling unwell and when to take to the vet. Hello, we are Julie and Colin Brown. We retired to Manapouri. Fiordland 18 months ago. Prior to that we lived in Invercargill, when looking at retirement we decided to upgrade our family crib (bach) and move to live near our much loved Lake Manapouri. We have some spare time on our hands and decided that house sitting would be a way to get out and see more of New Zealand, to meet new people, see new places and make the most of our retirement. We had to say goodbye to our much loved 18 year old cat Connor a few months before we moved to Manapouri, so that was very sad. We have inherited quite a cats over the years, usually arriving at our home via the children and then we were left in charge. Colin has a bit of an affinity with birds, me not so much, although according to my mother our farm hens always loved me and followed me around.. We enjoy the company of dogs (nothing like a nice chat to a dog) and we both enjoy walking. We no longer have our own pet, but by looking after yours we still get to have that animal contact. Our animals of choice would be cats or dogs. We both enjoy being outdoors and Colin has a great vegetable garden and tunnel house. My garden these days is much smaller than it used to be but I still love getting out and poking around in it. We also both make use of the biking and walking trails in our area. and hope this summer we will get to make more use of the lake and get out to do some fishing. Colin is a keen whitebaiter, so definitely no house sitting for us in September or October (unless you have a stand nearby) that he can use. We would look after your home and animals as if they and it were our own. Neither of us have ever smoked, we do both socially drink wine or beer but otherwise feel we have no vices. We are clean, tidy, respectful and responsible. We would hope that you could feel secure to comfortably leave us to care for your animals and home.

Shortly my lifestyle block and 15 coloured sheep and their new lambs will be sold. Caring for others (humans and animals) is what I do best.. Currently I am caring for my 86 yr old family friend to enable him to remain living in his own home. I have supported him with his pet dog care, shopping, finances, house work, gardening, companionship for the last 10 years on a regular basis. Family is important to me so I like visiting my 4 siblings and my 4 children. We are both retired and just into our 70’s. Don a Licensed Land Surveyor, Ann a Diversional Therapist, both non-smokers. Cats and Dogs have been part of our lives since we were children. Before marriage... Ann. We had a family dog called Lisa who came to us when I was a teenager. I felt I was instrumental in the neighbourhood children enjoying the companionship of dogs as we walked her about. We bathed her in a tub, the children soaping, rinsing and drying her. Before Marriage …. Don Our family had two cats over the years. Andrew and Eloise had very content lives with us. As a married couple of 43 years we have had four cats. Our last cat died a few years ago, after living with us for 11 years, she was full of personality and had a few tricks that endeared her to others. One was jumping up to pull the patio door handle down, leaning back out of the way as it opened outwards and wandering into the lounge much to the delight of our visitors. Recently two border collies came into our lives; Luna and Tom. I met them and their owner Jenny one day as she was out walking them. Jenny then became unwell so Don and I walked Luna and Tom until she was well enough to do it herself. Our own situation allows us the opportunity to be of support to others. We live in a managed development of 18 homes where the common lawns, trees and gardens are cared for. If we are away for any length of time we return to find our home and garden as if we had left just the day before. Several years ago a family we hadn’t known that long asked us if we would come and live on their lifestyle block while they went back to the UK for three months. This stint went smoothly, the sheep stayed in their paddock, and apart from Fred the goat wandering over to the house garden to eat a few roses, all went well. I am diligent, responsible and kind. Don is reliable and very capable. Together your animals and home will be well cared for. Hi! Exciting times for me. I have recently retired from a busy career, and have just moved from Auckland. Contacts from friends has seen me recently complete two housesits of 2 weeks, and 3 weeks duration in Hawkes Bay. One with a dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 3 chooks, a rabbit and some fish; the other with a dog and a cat. Over the years I have been a house sitter, a home owner, and a renter. I am used to moving around as my career has seen me change location a number of times, as well as regular travel and overnight stays. I’m pet free at the moment. My job necessitated regular travel, meaning I couldn’t give the required care and attention to a pet. As a child we had a very much loved family cat. When I had my children we had 2 cats from kittens and they completed our household with their crazy antics. My experience with dogs has been with a farm dog early in marriage, and later with an adult golden Labrador who was great with the kids and an easy care dog. There has since been a gap. My brother in the Bay has a staffie, and I will be housesitting and caring for him for 4 days in April. Approximately 20 years ago I housesat over a year, mainly in Gisborne. One housesit was for 3 months overseeing a home that was on the market, keeping it viewing ready. I also for 4 years looked after a large home each Christmas which one year included feeding aviary pigeons. I’ve also in the Bay looked after a mother cat and kittens for 2 weeks. I will treat your home carefully. Love to look after cats and open to well behaved dogs. I can also care for chooks as often feed and collect eggs on my sons farm. My hobbies include casual walking and exploring new places. I’ve been a keen gardener in the past so am happy to water gardens and look after pots. Warm greetings, my name is Kirsty and I am wife to Richard and Mum to two lovely daughters who are 9 and 5. We are ex Aucklanders who moved to Wanganui in 2019. I am a full time Mum (with a background in Event Management), my husband owns his own building company. Our reasons for wanting to house sit are two fold. 1) For opportunities to stay in Auckland for longer term visits to see our family who we really miss and 2) We absolutely love exploring our beautiful country, but as living costs increase it's becoming harder and harder to have holidays away. We usually stay in air bnbs, but house sitting would help us out immensely. We are home owners in Wanganui and we have also extensively used air bnbs to take our girls on mini breaks away. All our reviews from staying in different homes have been A+. We also personally keep a very tidy, organised, clean home in Wanganui. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently two cats), we love animals! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. We are a couple in our late 20s and early 30s living in Wellington. We love housesitting because it combines two of the things we both really love; travelling and pets. Due to our current migratory situation we do not have pets and house sitting is a way we can enjoy the company of animals and explore new suburbs. We have both had dogs and cats in the past. Nachi has also volunteered with the SPCA where she looked after chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs amongst others. She also attended a farm school and has experience caring for farm animals. We believe that animals are part of the family and will go above and beyond to ensure they are well looked after and don't miss their human family too much while you are away. We have been housesitting since June 2021 and have become the biggest fans of it. We love being able to meet and spend time with many different fur-friends. Our days just wouldn't be fulfilled without some fur-company. We simply are animal people who love the opportunity to care for them while their family is away. Life is one big adventure! I like to be kept busy; I love to travel, discovering out of the way places, meeting new people & embracing life. But my family pets have always been a top priority. House sitting offers some exciting opportunities, but more specifically it will provide me with the pleasures of 'adopting' your family pets, if only for a short time. (And, I certainly miss not having my own pet to care for). There has always been a cat or dog (or both) in the house and then there have been the children's tropical fish, German rat, guinea pigs, rabbits, and birds! We've even had a couple of cats 'adopt' us! I also volunteered for 18 months at a bird rescue centre a few years ago which was a very rewarding experience. From a young age until her early 20s, I also used to spend a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm where they had a dairy herd, goats and a chicken run. Animals have always featured in my life. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful House & pet sitting opportunities over the past 3 years (with a global house sitting company) looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds - most of these sits were while I was based in the UK. I'm now cutting back on my time away from NZ and, after hearing very positive comments about The Housesitting Company, have decided to join so that I can focus more on NZ sits. I'd be delighted to look after and love your family pets and I will take excellent care of your home. We are the lucky ones. We get to travel, explore new places, meet new people and look after your pets. My husband Steve and I have 4 grown up daughters, and 3 delightful grandchildren. We have worked hard in our lives, and our time to explore, travel and see our beautiful country is now. We have both been brought up on Dairy and Sheep/Beef farms. We have a small lifestyle block (12 acres) near Taupo where one of our adult children lives. We are very experienced with animals and currently have on our farm, horses, cows, a dog, chickens and a couple of cats. We have previously had beef steers and sheep, including lambing. We have a deep love of animals and both Steve and I are active relaxers, which means your dogs will get loads of walking, activities and cuddles while you are away. We are confident with large animals and will not hesitate to phone a vet in any circumstance. We will love and care for your animals (slightly obsessed with them), so you can go and enjoy travelling of your own.

Hello my name is Dave! I am a very healthy and fit retired builder/joiner. For 30 years I ran my own building and joinery company. I have been living in Australia and have recently returned as the heat was too much for me! My lovely wife passed away a few years ago after 47 years of marriage. As I am on my own I feel housesitting would be a wonderful way for me to meet new people and see a little bit of New Zealand. We have been housesitting for two or three homes of friends including the North Island and we would like to do more. I used to own a pet shop in Kerikeri, Bay of islands, so love animals. I also used to run an "Animal and home care service" in North Canterbury for three years before the earthquakes. Colin and I both lost our partners to ill health. In the past we have owned a small lifestyle block on which we ran dry stock, raised calves, tendered to our chickens. Our black Labrador, Luke enjoyed farm life along with his pal Smoky our cat which out lived him by reaching the grand age of 18. Presently we are pet free due to a clause we have in a crosslease agreement forbidding animals. We both have dogs, one rescue pups, and the other a purebred Cavalier king Charles spaniel. We have experience raising puppies as our Cavalier has had a few litters of gorgeous cavoodle puppies. Therefore we have lots of experience with puppies and dogs. As we don't have our own home yet, our dogs are currently living with our relatives. Eli is a builder, but afterwork in the evenings we enjoy activities like walking which we'd love to bring a dog along for. As we are newly married and Jasi moved here, she hasn't yet started work and doesn't plan to until next year. This means she will spend most of the day at home and can therefore give your pets all the love and attention they need. We are responsible, don't smoke, drink or party and would respect and maintain your home.

We are not scared of farm animals, have rented a property many years ago where we had to make sure there was water in the throughs and kept an eye on the animals in the paddocks surrounding our home. I do prefer to look after cats as I work during the day (Please note: I do not work from home, I work as a temp) if you have a dog that can be left for the day that may work to. I love meeting new pets and especially love to catch up with wee friends I have cared for in the past. I absolutely adore cats and dogs, and have met some very interesting characters along the way! and I look forward to meeting many more. I grew up with a Cat and dog, and just love their company and playing with them, and don't mind at all if they snuggle up in bed. I'm also happy to administer medication and flea treatments etc. and take your wee friend to the vet if required. I can assure you that your house will be spotless on your return and I will treat it as if it were my own home, I'm quite the perfectionist. More than happy to water plants, garden etc. and really whatever else needs to be done, you only have to ask. My gardening experience is very limited & I don't mow lawns. Antoine remotely works for a company based in Dunedin. Antoine's flexibility for work means he can travel around a bit. We currently live in Warkworth. I am a professional employee with a leading NZ fund manager who deals with private clients, and I now live in Hawkes Bay after living in Auckland for over 20 years, so I am familiar with the city. I also work from Wellington at times where I rent a property for which I pay an extremely reasonable rent largely because I'm a very good careful tenant. I am married with 3 children but when coming to Auckland I travel with my twin boys aged 11. I am house proud, the owner of a villa with a pool and my boys respect other people's property and are very much "look but don't touch". I have no hesitation or worries about them respecting other people's property. I prefer staying in a home as opposed to somewhere like a motel as I prefer peace and quiet. Last year we stayed in someone's home with 2 cats and fish. I have lived in a home with dogs and cats at various stages and was brought up on a farm so enjoy animals and don't mind walking the dog or whatever has to be done. I think I'm very responsible, treating other people's homes as I treat my own home. I was brought up that way so it's just normal behaviour. I'm observant and notice things easily. If AKL has torrential rain check windows, drains and for any leaks etc. Don't leave the house with windows open, bring in rubbish bins, water plants if that needs doing, take your shoes off. After attending to the house and any chores we normally go out and return later to have diner and then the boys are on their iPads. We have a relaxing time and enjoy being together. We don't usually entertain guests when house sitting as we go out visiting family and friends. I'm careful in the kitchen, not accident prone and don't have difficulty following any instructions. I don't smoke or partake in drugs and drink very little. Most of my time is taken up with the children and all their activities, work and maintaining the house and garden. Outside of that I like all types of music, history, movies and of course the iPad!

We have been housesitting for about 5 years ( with another housesitting site) and have used the time to visit family, see other parts of the country, become more flexible and meet some really lovely pets and their owners. My reputation as an Airbnb guest is positive, with excellent reviews from homeowners in both New Zealand and Australia. As I travel frequently, I am unable to have any pets of my own. However, I regularly care for two cats in Wellington, a British Blue, and my 104-year-old grandmother's cat, Jetty. In the Kimberley, I've looked after two Australian cattle dogs named Bonnie and Clyde when their owner needed to travel to Perth for medical treatments. Growing up, our family had a mischievous and much-loved Golden Retriever called Ben. Later, I had Mingus, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Rottweiler cross. Although no longer practicing, it may be of some comfort to know that I studied Animal Nursing part-time over two years (1996 - 1997), during which time I worked in two veterinary clinics before embarking on overseas travels. I worked the last 12yrs in Australia as a prison officer mainly in Alice Springs NT, and as a detainee officer at Villawood Detention Centre in Sydney. I enjoy a country lifestyle, but can mix it ok with the townies having lived in Sydney. My reason for house sitting is, I’ve just sold my house on the Kaikoura coast and will be free to travel to any part of the south island at short notice. I’ve always wanted to house sit. Being a typical Virgo I’m very clean and tidy. I’ve got a good work ethic and a can do attitude to life. I’m a huge animal lover, having grown up in Otago on a dairy farm in my early days having both Dogs and Cats as pets which continued into my adult life, to being an orchardist in the Nelson region for 22yrs. I’ve always been a real sports nut, with rugby being my passion having played and coached at representative for my union. I also like my golf and lawn bowls nowadays. Both non smokers, enjoy clean living with clean criminal international and local records. We met in Malaysia while working as volunteers with cats and dogs for SPCA in early 2015. After that we did a period of volunteers with tigers in Thailand. Highlight of our lives. Great experience to be so close and intimate with a wild animals. Few scars but lived to tell all the tales. After we worked with them, cats and dogs are so easy. Next, hoping to spend some time with elephants. We have done home sitting in NZ as well as offshore in Europe and China as well as a 4 week stay in Malaysia. Although we like to travel, live clean and appreciate clean houses so your home will be looked after. Although not fantastic green fingers, we will happily mow your grass and pull a few weeds as required. As we both still work part time, appreciate wi-fi so we can still receive emails etc. Sky is not important cause we rather be outside enjoying open air as against watching TV. Also since 2017, a volunteer firefighter originally with Otorohanga but would consider helping any local volunteer brigade. Rem has in the past also looked after NZ Police dogs while their handler has gone on holiday so the average dog should be relatively easy. Happy to walk the dogs and where possible, take them to the beach if possible. Hopefully have secure parking for the BMW as well? Since Feb 2017 we have lived in Otorohanga and have looked after various local and surrounding properties. A 550 acre grazing farm and a very upmarket lifestyle house. Although it’s been fun here, we are ready for another area from now on. Long term housesits preferred but will consider short options as well. Yuling now lives in Wellington full time while Rem commutes.

When I was married and we bought our first house, having pets was a top priority. After 3 years we had 3 cats (Tabby, Tina and Kate) and 2 Beagles (Tony and Lucy). I have mainly worked in Computer and Project environments but after studying one year part time for an Animal Care certificate I worked 5 days a week in my normal job and 1 day at a well established and reputable Vet clinic in Remuera. By this stage I was divorced and the family consisted of the beagles, Tabby and me. I have also been a volunteer kennel assistant at SPCA. I am comfortable giving medication to pets and have looked after cats, dogs, birds, fish and rats. All of my animals have lived a happy and long life. Tony suffered from cancer later in his life but with care and chemo from VSG and at home he got a new lease of life and was with me for another 2 years of quality time. I no longer have pets of my own so I would really love the opportunity to care for yours, either outside of Auckland when I ready for a break or in Auckland for a 'staycation' I am mature, responsible, respectful and resourceful. We lived and worked in Christchurch for 22 years, before moving to Papamoa 7 years ago. We have owned our own home for most of our 48 years of marriage, and have always taken pride in keeping both house and garden tidy and well maintained. After our last elderly dog passed away 5 years ago, we really missed having a dog in our home, so became approved volunteer puppy boarders for Blind/Low Vision puppies, and are still enjoying providing this service. Allan's parents were dairy farmers, and he loved farm life. He is an enthusiastic golfer and gardener, a Justice of the Peace, and volunteers for the Papamoa Community patrol. Jenny is also a keen gardener, enjoys both an exercise/social group and a craft group, volunteers regularly at Good Neighbour Food Rescue, and loves being involved with a Music and Movement group for preschoolers and their Mums. We both belong to Probus, and are also rostered on for several roles at our church. As we have friends and family in Christchurch and various parts of the North Island, we are excited about the prospect of house sitting when we travel to those areas, as well as when we explore new areas that we haven't yet been to. I graduated from Cardiff University with an honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and later gained a Masters degree in the same subject at Sheffield University. I am married to Chris Mundy, an editor at NZQA, Wellington. Chris and I grew up with pets in our families, and from this we gained a life-long love of animals. Over the years, we have had many different animals as pets, including a sheep which eventually died of old age!, a golden retriever, a duckling, rabbits, a weta and doves, all of which were much loved by us and our two children. We also adopted the school's cockatoo and axolotl during school holidays. We took our friend's cat to be with our family whilst they worked overseas. Sadly, our adorable all white cat named Pearl has passed away and we no longer have any pets. So, it would be really lovely to be able to look after someone else's pets. As we no longer have children living with us, we have more freedom to explore and travel to new places, which we both love doing. It also enables us to take a break from our rather busy lives by housesitting every now and then. Having pets with our accommodation is an added bonus to us. She especially loves dogs and greatly misses the family German Shepherds back in England. She has a lot of experience walking big dogs, including antisocial dogs and pullers (most of the dogs Hannah's family has owned have been troubled rescue dogs, at least initially)! In the recent Auckland floods (for the 2nd time) close friends of ours bought their 6 chickens to us, to care for, until they were able to live in their home again - the first time we had them for over 6 months and more recently 3 months. Their 'babies' were well loved & looked after. Mick is a keen diver and loves to get out in the garden, Tracey used to be a professional cleaner so keeping a home sparkling clean is my thing - I also love mowing lawns. We both love to walk and do lengthier hikes & can be found in the mornings trying to beat each other at Wordle & Quordle. We are both people who take pride and care not only in our home (including the grounds) but any home we visit or stay in. Hi, we're two active retirees who lost our wee mate, 14yr old Cavoodle, Riley, last year. So we are now doing a bit of travelling before committing again. Meanwhile, we've been getting our "doggie fix" from minding dogs for our friends, neighbours and even a motor home park which included two samoyeds! Prior to retiring, Ian has managed Waste and Transport companies and owned his own business and Pam has worked in the Airline Industry for the last 30 plus years. We both enjoy lots of outdoor exercise including dog walking, kayaking and mountain biking. We have done numerous house/pet sits already. We are loving the experiences, especially spending longer periods of time in different towns, cities and even the remotest areas getting to know neighbours and locals. We have a flexible timeline and a vehicle. ...a little about us. I am a NZ'er and a retired educator. Peter is canadian and a retired computer engineer. Our home base is on a small island in western Canada. We are homeowners and fully understand the housesitting social contract and responsibilities. We currently have trustworthy housesitters in our home while we are away. Peter and I, make a great housesitting team. I take the lead with the animal and home care, Peter supports me by playing with the pets and cuddle time. He also leads our dog walking explorations into nature. As our three children grew, our home was full of much loved animals. We had two family cats and two family dogs. Oliver, the cat was much loved in the neighbourhood. During the day he would sit by the gate, greet people, and beg for a pat. During the evening, when he was not snuggled up next to the dog, or swatting her tail, he would find a lap and stay there purring. He stayed in our family for 20 years. Lassie, a border collie/lab/husky cross is perhaps the most acclaimed of all our family pets. Our children still talk of her with great love. We adopted her when she was two years old. She 'heeled' with the click of a finger and kept guard over our children when they were young. She was the most amazing and lovable dog - her photo has an honoured place in our home. In the past, we have cared for cats, dogs, sheep, pigs, bees, chickens, ducks, fischers parrot, rabbits, and hamsters. The key in caring for pets is to have established expectations: food and exercise routines/cuddle times and ensure that animals have ample fresh water everyday. We love all animals and plants and can turn my hand to most tasks involved in caring for them. Also, I might add that I enjoy exploring regenerative agriculture concepts. I am a founding director of School Orchards Africa Society, in Tanzania. Having built our home and hobby farm, Peter is familiar with most house systems, on and off grid. He is a good guitar player. Since returning to NZ our speciality has certainly been rural lifestyle blocks as we love the peace and quiet of the countryside and exploring nature. We're extremely well organised, tidy, honest, flexible and caring. You can expect to return to your home as clean as you left it, if not cleaner, and with very happy pets. We've never pulled out of a sit as we're extremely reliable and the last thing we'd want is for you to have an issue because of us before you go on holiday. Experienced in garden and lawn care, spa and pool maintenance, rain and bore water tank system monitoring, ant prevention and setting pest control traps. As previous homeowners, we have enough common sense to know when to tackle any maintenance issues which may arise and when to request advice. We're also happy to do turnover service if you operate an active Air BnB on your property. We'll require a reliable unlimited internet connection (as we work remotely) and off street parking for our car. As non-smokers we're not interested in any sits where you normally smoke/vape indoors.

I adopted Kato (bichon poodle x) when he was 3 and he had fear based issues after what appears to be a difficult first few years. Now he is a happy little guy who loves to walk, chase balls and hang out with his favourite humans, my 90 year old mother being one of them - having bitten her the first time they met over 5 years ago, they now have a very special bond. They even share the same birthday. I lived in Auckland for 20 years and love the Coromandel and Northland. I spent a lot of time in the Coromandel over summers, in a tent, holiday houses, staying at friends and travelling in motorhomes. Living in Christchurch I don't get much of any opportunity to get back there and I miss the beautiful weather and lush tropical geography. We love exploring different areas. We are experienced housesitters and will look after your home and pets as if they were our own with care and respect. We can cope with the unexpected. Over the years we have had dogs of our own and looked after other peoples’ labradors, retrievers, Jack Russells, collies, Alsatian, mixed breeds and rescue dogs. I loved it when our Jack Russell had pups. We have always had cats too. Though mainly our daughter was the cats’ best friend. Hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, fish have all been part of the household at various times and once a rosella for a few weeks. For 30 years I have had one or two ponies or horses until my Connemara died in 2018. Sometimes I still ride but mainly I miss caring for horses. As we have had land in the past we’ve had various livestock, horses, cattle, sheep and are comfortable handling them. We have looked after other peoples’ hens and still say we will get some when we don’t go away so much. In the meantime we are often visited by our neighbours’ two hens making a getaway. My husband is a fixer, landscaper and creative worker with wood and natural materials. He is a keen caretaker of New Zealand’s natural environment. He is an avid reader and perceptive, humorous writer. I am still working as a psychologist mainly by Zoom one day a week. I enjoy the flexibility of being nearly retired and having time to play the guitar and dabble in the garden and with various art projects. While living and working in Vietnam and China, I looked after friends’ pups and then went on to foster many dogs. I found a tiny puppy on the street in Shanghai. Hey there, I am very much hoping that you choose me to house sit your home, i am responsible, reliable, clean, trustworthy and very respectful. I am a home bodied sort of person and enjoy reading, drawing, watching docos and cooking good food in my down time. I am a chef by trade but am currently working as a gardener/ landscaper as well as a few art projects on the side, so if your garden needs tending to I'll be more than happy to help. I absolutely love all animals and grew up having a few cats and dogs. I have house sat for people in the past but have never used this website to do so. If you choose me you can expect your furry friend (s) to be showered and bathed in love, cuddles and good times. ( if you have pets of cause) otherwise, you can expect your home to be completely and utterly respected and cherished and left in the exact order you left it in. I have just returned home after a year or so travelling overseas and am just looking for my options in terms of accommodation. I heard about this website and thought I'd give it a go. Hi there, my name is Kathryn. I recently moved to Christchurch from the Kapiti Coast to be closer to family. I'm not yet ready to settle down and buy a place of my own in Christchurch and it seems to me that housesitting for a bit will enable me to familiarise myself with Christchurch before making the decision about where to buy. I work locally as a District Nurse. I love walking, hiking, biking and swimming - anything that gets me out in the fresh air! Growing up we always had a dog, but despite my love of dogs I have only had one dog in my adult life (my husband was not keen on dogs). Now that I am on my own, I relish the idea of being a short-term owner of a dog in my role of house-sitter. I enjoy both morning and evening walks so exercising the dog would be a pleasure. I have experience in owning cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens, and enjoy all pet animals. I am a careful, tidy and reliable person who will take very good care of your house and pets.

Kia Ora, We are a couple in our thirties who are settling in to New Zealand from abroad (Aimee from Australia, Tetteh from the US). We met in London 6 years ago, and are very much enjoying living in beautiful Aotearoa. We are enjoying house sitting as we love the opportunity to see different parts of the country, love animals, and have flexibility given we largely work from home. We are both working professionals - Aimee is a Social Worker having spent the last 13 years working in the criminal justice system, and Tetteh is a Forensic Psychologist. Tetteh also has a education background and has previously worked as a University Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, however is also a qualified Psychologist. He is currently contracting to organisations doing training and facilitation, one on one therapy, and group therapy for those with substance use issues. Aimee also works from home and contracts to Ministry of Justice completing court reports for criminal courts, as well as doing training and facilitation and restorative practice with tertiary institutions and organisations. We both largely work from home, however do have face to face meetings or workshops in town a few times per week. We both come from homes where we have adored our pets. Aimee grew up with cats, and has a family cat named Sunny who is the family princess and adored by everyone. Tetteh is a HUGE animal lover, and takes up every opportunity to spend time with family and friends who have animals (particularly dogs!). We are both very responsible people who do not smoke, are outgoing and trustworthy, and happy to ensure all steps are taken to ensure your animals and property are adequately cared for. If we are chosen as house sitters for your property, we can guarantee your home and animals will be in very safe and capable hands. We are both extremely approachable, pro-active and respectful individuals who understand the trust that goes into allowing others to stay in your property and care for your loved ones. Our youngest child is very gentle with pets, as is our eldest who is very used to animals. She likes to help us feed, wash and take care of them, and where appropriate, take them for walks. Rochelle was brought up on a farm and is comfortable with livestock and farm dogs. We have had pets before, including 2 Shih Tzu dogs, which we bred from for a number of years, so are used to dogs of all ages. We are also equally comfortable looking after cats. We maintain a clean and tidy household and will respect any property that we are in. We will take great care of your home and love your pets like our own. In my most recent housesits in New Zealand, I used my experience of growing up with animals and my pet-loving and caring nature to support owners to feel at ease whilst they were away on their holiday. I am a strong relationship builder and communicator and am able to quickly build rapport with you and your pets. I value building an encouraging, positive and friendly environment with everyone I meet. An example of this is when I recently housesat in Wellington and looked after several chickens. As I do not eat eggs, I quickly made friends with some neighbours by sharing them so they did not go to waste. Alfie the dog and I were soon invited along for evening walks and morning coffees. I always make sure to send you regular photos of your pets having fun and being cared for as I know you’ll be worrying about and missing them. With my years of staying in housesitting, houseshares and living in tiny homes, I pride myself on keeping a clean home. An example of this is organising myself with a weekly cleaning rota where I split the tasks up over the week to break down the tasks and keep on top. I am also a keen gardener, growing vegetables and flowers from seed to table and caring for a variety of cacti and houseplants. I am happy to keep on top of watering and garden maintenance for you as required. I am enthusiastic, committed and dynamic and my experience in international travel, housesitting, owning and caring for dogs, goats, cows, chickens, cats and bees have gained me the skills and confidence to housesit for your beloved pets and home. Also, my skill in communication and building relationships with you, your pet and your close ones and my passion of keeping the homes I stay in clean will make sure you can relax on your holiday and return to happy pets and a a calm and clean home. Kia ora! We're Laura and Alex: experienced house-sitters open to housesitting opportunities in Canterbury. As young professionals who otherwise rent, we're always keen to explore other parts the city and make some new fluffy friends. We're friendly, clean pet lovers, and are super happy to have a call/video chat, and supply previous references from our house-sits in Templeton, Little River, St Albans and Rolleston, where we looked after a range of dogs, cats, and a few chickens. We’ve both grown up around pets (Alex in particular grew up in the country with cats, dogs and even a few goats!) so we love the chance to get out of our central Christchurch flat and spend some time with animals. Alex is a mechanical engineering student while Laura works as a marketer for a University - so between the two of us, one of us can usually be home during the day, if that's important to you and your pets. In our downtime, we enjoy hitting up a good restaurant, getting out in nature, and Alex loves to tinker on a project (he’s currently building a bass guitar) while Laura works at a puzzle, or reads a good book – preferably with a cat or dog to warm up her lap… "Laura and Alex were perfect sitters. They looked after our Dunedin house, lifestyle block, cat and 13 sheep for 3 months and did an amazing job. Alex didn't spend one night away from the property, even over the Christmas holidays (Laura had to work part time in Chch, which she was very upfront about). When Alex noticed there was something wrong with our sheep, he got in touch with us and our vet neighbour straight away. Overall communication was amazing. We got cute photo updates every 2-3 days. They came down to meet in person before the house sit, and overlapped with us either end. When we returned they picked us up from the airport, had lunch ready and left us food. The house was spotless and garden looked great. We couldn't have asked for more responsible, kind and dependable sitters." - Claudia "We were lucky to Alex and Laura look after our home and two small dogs while we were away.
