    Save on rent

Most people call our service "House sitting", but for us, it's really all about your pets. Having a sitter allows your pets to enjoy one-on-one care and keep to their regular schedules in a familiar environment. We provide reliable animal lovers who will care for your pets and home in the same way you would. Rest assured that whilst you are away, your pets will feel 'right at home' their own home.

    * House sitters do not get paid.
The financial benefits come from saving on rent and utilities while house sitting.

    Explore New Zealand

If you have the flexibility, then house sitting is a traveller’s playground. Imagine sitting in Queenstown over New Years, Bay of Islands for Waitangi, escaping to a farm out in the wops for June before heading back to the Waikato to spend time with your grandkids for school holidays in July. House sitting can also be a great way to trial life in different cities and suburbs before settling down.

    Experience variety & beautiful homes

House sitting creates experiences. You will enjoy meeting new people, caring for a variety of pets and the adventure of living in someone else’s shoes. Whet your appetite by sitting a beachfront property or mix it up by moving into a rural farm, much like the one you grew up on. You’ll also develop friendships with homeowners and you’ll soon be talking about their dogs as your ‘adopted pets’ in one of your many homes away from home.

    Professional representation & support

We practise what we preach. Our support team have been sitters themselves and have the combined experience of over 100 house sits. In addition to 24/7 support, we want to make sure you are protected and looked after. We pay for public liability insurance on all our sits for your peace of mind. Our job is to help you book house sits - think of us as your house sitting agents.

What are the requirements to become a sitter?

The homeowners who use our service want to know that their house and pets are in safe hands. We are as successful as we are because of the trust and confidence our owners have in our sitter vetting process. It is also great for you, because the high demand for our services means more sitting opportunities. If you meet the following basic requirements, we would love to have you join us:

  1. You need to be over 18.
  2. You need to love animals. 98% of house sits have pets requiring your care. For most homeowners, this is the #1 reason they want a sitter.
  3. You will need to have an email address, mobile phone and access to the Internet.
  4. You need to have a place to stay in between sits.
  5. You must have no past or pending criminal convictions. We employ the Ministry of Justice to undertake background checks on prospective sitters who are New Zealand-residents. If you are not a NZ resident or a New Zealander who has been outside the country for some time, you will need to provide a certified police clearance (at your expense) from the country you have spent the most time in, as well as a copy of your passport.
  6. You must supply at least two written references from previous house sits, landlords, employers or referees who can vouch for your character.
  7. You must agree to our Terms and Conditions.
If you meet these requirements, go ahead and begin your journey!
