Hawke’s Bay
If you appreciate great weather, beautiful beaches, sunshine and wineries then the beautiful region of Hawke’s Bay is for you. It is great for house sitters as the city of Napier has stunning Art Deco buildings and the famous Art Deco Festival every February. If you’re into golf then the world class Cape Kidnappers golf course is a must if you’re in the region. Hawke’s Bay is also known for its wildlife, swimming spots and friendly people. Pets love the open spaces just as much as visitors. What a magnificent place Hawke’s Bay is.

Greetings You ask why we enjoy house sitting and the accompanying life style? Nina (51 and from Bali) and I (Anthony, 59, from NZ) spend time in both of our native countries as a lifestyle option. Between us, all 5 children are off our hands, and the period of time and months that we commute are quite flexible. My work as an architectural designer allows me to liaise with clients in NZ, then complete the technical documentation while house sitting, or sitting in Indonesia or Malaysia. Born and raised in Hastings, I spend most of our NZ time in Kapiti and Hastings. Nina is Balinese, and we enjoy the sands in Bali, Lombok and Rote. We are dividing and building on a section in Central Hawke's Bay. We enjoy domestic pets, but can not have any due to our transient life style. Let us cancel out farm animals right now! Minding peoples homes, and caring for people and properties comes quite naturally, and has been an ongoing activity for some 7 years, on and off, in Bali and Kapiti. What can you expect? You can expect your home and pets to be the same as if you had only been away overnight. Talk to us. A coffee is always good! Writing a good biography is easy. Fronting up to you, to talk, is always more accurate and productive.

Hi there! Our names are David and Tessa, 28 and 30 years old. We moved to Auckland a year ago and we are still in the stage of our lives where we do not need to settle. We love adventure, seeing new places and experiencing new things. By housesitting we can see different parts of Auckland and get a good feel for where we might want to settle a couple of years from now. Furthermore, housesitting gives us the joy of pets without holding us back from travelling. In the past year, we have done this by foster parenting for the SPCA and we have really loved it! As I (Tessa) am writing this we are actually housesitting and dogsitting for friends who are away in South Africa for a month. I have also gained quite a bit of experience pet and house sitting while living in the Netherlands. I had dogs come over to my apartment for periods of time or I would also housesit for their owners while they were away. I am still in contact with some of the owners as I grew quite attached to the puppies. Since I work from home I have more time to spend on things that I enjoy such as exercise, reading, keeping my house clean, loving animals and gardening. You can expect a clean well maintained home and garden, loved and cared for pets and a safe home because someone is there for most of the time. Also, we love taking photos so if you are worried that you are going to miss your furry children too much we are more than happy to send you regular updates through pictures and videos :) Warm regards, David and Tessa

Hi there, a trusty worth honest human, looking to leave a lighter tread on the planet. I work from home and supposed to be travelling around the world teaching yoga right now but covid has changed a lot. To create my best work I like to be able live by myself, get out in nature and explore different areas. I housesat consistently for 2 years around 2014-2016 and am looking forward to doing this again since i am home in New Zealand. I love taking care of your animals, that's all the company I need. I have sat for & have experience with many different animals. Dogs = labradoodle, mini schnauzer, bernese mountain dog, border collie, boston terrier, wolf hound and jack russell, Cats = tabby kitten, burmese, persians, chartruese and more. Also have plenty experience with chickens, some house birds, rabbits and guinea pigs. I haven't had the experience of looking after horses or donkeys yet but I would love to and would love the opportunity. I grew up on a small farm, so all though its been a very long time, I have had some experience with stock and happy to learn if needed. I used to own a great dane, ridgeback cross until I left for overseas travel, so I am very comfortable with large breeds, he now lives with my best friend and her 2 boys where is well exercised, loved and I can see him anytime i'm in my hometown. I have always lived my life with the intention of leaving a profit, if I have the chance to housesit for you I will treat your home with love and respect and will leave it cleaner than I found it. Expect clear communication and reliability.

My name is Vanessa and my partner is Marcel. We have decided to take a break from the routine of full-time employment, to have a new and exciting adventure which involves travelling around New Zealand to enjoy new experiences. We have spent the last three summers looking after the accommodation for a ski club lodge in Queenstown, and outside of this we would like to house sit and get to see new parts of the country. Vanessa grew up in Mount Maunganui and Tauranga but has lived in Otago for the last 15 years. Marcel has lived in Otago all his life. We both love dogs and cats and have had our own pets in the past. However, because of our new lifestyle, we cannot have pets at this stage and we miss having pets around us. Marcel has until recently had Labradors and a couple of cats. Vanessa has recently had both cats and dogs, Chocolate and Vanilla the cats. And Chico was a very much loved Tibetan Spaniel. Vanessa has studied the first year of Vet Nursing at Otago Polytech and gained a Certificate in Animal Care. We both love the outdoors hiking in summer and skiing in winter. We have a self contained caravan which we take with us and live in, between house sits. We own our own property so we are mindful that you expect us to look after your property and pets as if they were our own. We have been travelling in the North Island since early September and have done house sits in Hawera, Papamoa, and Cambridge so far with sits at Katikati and Hastings future booked.

Dear homeowners, We are a couple in our mid 30's. Born in Europe, Estonia but for the last 9 years we've lived mainly in between Australia and New Zealand. We have joined the house-sitting family because we absolutely love animals and for a while we've wanted to get our own pet but due to our traveling lifestyle it's nearly impossible at this stage. House-sitting, gives us a great opportunity to explore different parts of New Zealand while spending time with some amazing animals. Also, it feels good to help out busy homeowners who wish to take a break or holiday without having to worry about their pets and home :) We've done house sitting in New Zealand as well as looked after our friends houses and pets all around the world - dogs, cats, pigs, fish rabbits and various avian species (parrots, chicken etc). We also have experience with looking after blind dogs as well as rescue pets and think that there is nothing more rewarding than getting some love back from them. Growing up our families have owned dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish and even frill necked lizard. Looking after animals comes to us naturally, they truly are humans best mates. By choosing us to look after your home and extended family members we can assure you that both of them are well looked after. We would respect your home and care for your pets as they were our own. PS: As we both work from home it doesn't really matter whether your home is - in a city, suburban area or even in the outback. As long as you have good internet connection we are happy to help you out. Hope to hear from you soon, Simon & Marion

I am a young at heart, mature and responsible travel loving adventurer. I love animals and have had a variety of pets including dogs, cats, fish and birds including chickens, so I understand how hard it can be when you have to leave them with strangers. I used to regularly look after my landlady's pets including a Shitzu, 3 cats, a parrot, a cockatiel and a canary, and I used to run my own cleaning business, so you will come back to a house at least as clean as I found it. My background is in nursing so I am used to administering medication, including insulin, to people and would be willing to learn to administer it to pets if required. In my current business as a freelance Proofreader and Editor all I need is a WiFi connection and I can work from anywhere, which means that your pets will be seeing a lot of me, so more cuddles and exercise for everyone, and more security for your home and for your peace of mind. Previously I worked for nursing and care agencies which involved working in residential homes caring for people, frequently in new environments, so I am used to being able to quickly assess my surroundings and situations and deal with the unexpected when necessary. Every job I have had has required a police check due to the nature of my profession so rest assured that I am responsible and trustworthy. I retired last year so I have plenty of spare time on my hands and am available at fairly short notice. I look forward to meeting you and caring for your home and pets. Regards Jan

My name is Ian Moone a professional photographer and former chef. I run my own photography business. I’m a single, solo father to an absolutely adorable 3yr old wee girl named Blessing and we live fulltime on the road in our house-truck. We love our house truck life but we also don't mind being settled even for a short while to get our breath back again and explore a new area but one of the biggest things is giving my daughter the opportunity to be around and care for so many different types of animals as we are huge animal lovers!! I have previously been entrusted with an entire horseracing track as care taker for the same track 4 or more times and lived onsite whilst tending to jobs around the extensive property. I founded SouperVan New Zealand and have personally cooked over 4000+ meals for struggling communities around New Zealand and have a heart for helping others and the environment. Throughout this life I have so far looked after horses, cows, a turtle, cats, dogs, birds, 2 fish, goats, pigs and chickens to name a few. I'm handy with tools and can operate tractors, ride on mowers, push mowers and most farming machinery if needed to help whilst you are away. We also carry a full sized registered quadbike for farm use if needed. I'm 41 years of age and my daughter is 3, I have had one speeding ticket my whole life and strive to leave the world a better place each place we visit. If you choose us we will as always honor and respect your home as we would expect someone else to look after ours. If you have pets (we call extended family) I would be happy to include a free pet photography session valued at $450 as a thank you for having myself and my daughter look after your home and fur babies :) I have attached letters of recommendation from a personal friend and CEO of the most FM and the sitting Mayor of New Plymouth as references for your consideration. I work as a professional photographer and most of my time is spent editing images for weeks on end so plenty of home time for our favourite thing playing with pets and entertaining animals. I’m a non drinker and non smoker and quiet natured.

I have a great deal of experience in hospitality and tourism. Having managed the Whanganui River Top Ten Holiday Park, Bushy Park Homestead, Braemar House YMCA, and my own Hydrangea Hill Bed and Breakfast, all in Whanganui. Here on the Kapiti Coast I was the Bachcare Holiday Manger for Waikanae for 2 years. I am very aware of taking the best of care with people's properties. Having owned farmlets with pets, and bred sheep, cattle, dogs and chickens, I have an instinctive and caring approach towards all animals.

Hi, We are a couple originally from England and Ireland. We have been here for nearly 5 years now and feel lucky to call New Zealand home. We are currently looking to buy a house however it is taking longer than initially expected. We are renting at the moment but the landlord has sold the house and the settlement date is 2nd December. As we are hoping to buy in the next couple of months we want to house sit so that we are not tied in to a lease. We are both young professionals and have always treated any of our rental properties as if they were our own. I was raised with Cat’s and dogs and my partner Neal, was raised in a farm in Ireland so we are both very accustomed to being around animals. We are very clean, tidy and respectful of people’s space.

We are a couple (Kiwi guy & Filipina girl in our early 30's) who have come to settle in New Zealand after living in Asia (Singapore, Bangkok & Philippines). Kat is an Interior designer by profession, loves art, watercolor painting, calligraphy and yoga. Kieran is a teacher and loves anything and everything coffee-related, history, politics, reading, rock climbing and connecting with people. We both love to travel and go on adventures. House sitting has given us the opportunity to be more flexible and open to new opportunities as we make a choice about where to settle and we've enjoyed exploring places around New Zealand we hadn't yet had the chance to explore. We've been house sitting for a few months now and we have really enjoyed meeting some fantastic people and spending lots of quality time with their pets. We are definitely animal lovers and have always planned to have cats and dogs of our own, but we have also very happily taken care of landlords', relatives' and friends' pets. We don't see it as a chore and it should be easy for us to love them as much as you do. If there are any special requirements or routines involving your pets, please just let us know beforehand and we'll do our best to make sure they're well looked after. We are a tidy and respectful couple, so you can expect your home to be well-taken care of. We are also firm believers in respecting privacy, so you will find your personal items exactly where you left them. We do not smoke and, preferring the quiet life, are not big drinkers or party-goers. We are easy-going people who are flexible and also easy to communicate with. We are sure you won't regret choosing us and we look forward to meeting you.

I am a professional software specialist. Auckland has been my home for more than a decade. I like being in nature. Reading, practising yoga and tending my small veggie garden fill up most of my time. I don't have a pet myself although I grew up with a few dogs and cats. I would love to have a cat one day. Right now, I love walking my neighbour's dogs with her. She's a professional dog walker. I learned so much from her regarding communication with pets and how to care for them. I hope I can help you to care for your pet while you are away.

Kia Ora! I love exercising dogs and cuddling cats! Leave me with your house, loved ones and I will attend to them like yourself. Take comfort in enjoying your break with confidence all in order when you return. I'm Emily in my mid 30's, single and a non-smoker - available to house and pet sit for you city wide - ideally near the sea or bush where I can take your loved animal for regular exercise. I’m a responsible, church-going Christian and a female professional. Able to work from the city or from home if required. Even love to leave a treat in the fridge for you when you return. Emily

I have dual citizenship of Britain and New Zealand. I grew up in England, and my first career was as a conservator of works of art, working at the British Museum in London, and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, UK. I then retrained as a Homeopath, and came to New Zealand, where I lived and worked for the whole of the nineties. In 2000 I returned to England to help care for my aged parents. I am now retired, and have returned to New Zealand to live. In 2015 I house-sat for friends several times, and decided that house-sitting would be an excellent way of seeing the country before I settle. Visiting as a tourist only gives you a superficial experience of a place, whereas house-sitting gives you a chance to really taste what it's like to live there. With the bonus of staying in real homes and having the companionship of the animals who belong there. I began house-sitting through websites at the beginning of 2016, mostly in the North Island. I love animals, and they are usually drawn to me. I get on well with dogs, but cats are my favourite. One of the things I enjoy about animals is that they each have their own personality, their likes and dislikes, and their preferred way of going about things, so I enjoy getting to know them. I believe animals can sense what sort of person you are, and I think that they can sense that I am kind and caring and competent, which helps them to relax and feel safe with me, confident that all their needs will be met. If it would help to give you peace of mind about the wellbeing of your pets, I would be happy to keep in touch regularly by email. I was a home-owner in England, so I know how important it is for a home-owner to feel that their home is in good hands - that it is kept safe, secure, clean, and well looked after; that its contents are treated with respect and care. And that if any problems arise, they will be dealt with promptly and appropriately. I believe that I am respectful, well-organised and meticulous, and also a good problem-solver, so I think your home would be in good hands. What about my personal attributes? I'm a single woman without children or pets of my own; I don't drink alcohol or smoke; I'm a driver with a clean license: I'm not a party person - I enjoy solitude and peaceful surroundings and I love walking in the countryside or by the sea. Although retired, I am healthy, strong and active, and I'm generally a happy person. I think your animals would feel happy in my company.

We are an active, fit, retired couple who, because we live in the city have no pets of our own. I am farm raised and have worked with animals all my life until I retired. In the past I have bred Boxers. We are both experienced sitters and have been looking after the pets of others for several years. This year we have spent a month in UK doing two successful 10-day dog sits for both of which we received 5-star reviews. In the summer we are planning to travel in the South Island for 3 months and are available to pet sit during that time, getting to know various areas and meet the locals. We are both active golfers, Warwick is a handyman and I am a keen gardner. We are both house proud and will look after your home and your animals as if they were our own.

Our careers as a professional couple have been a school p.a secretary and a rates arrears officer for the local council both retired 2017 and would be pleased to look after your house and pets while you are absent. We are an outdoor couple and love to explore walks and experiences etc in other areas. We both come from families who have always encouraged us to nurture animals. We have always had pets for our 3 children and in particular a very endearing cat for years who was a Tonkinese cross between a Burmese and Siamese. We would be very caring for your pets, and small animals with compassion. We are responsible and respectful people who would like to help families feel secure by looking after their property and pets while they are away. Charles is meticulous maintaining our own house and grounds and has expertise in trees. We both take pride in our privately owned home. You can expect our utmost consideration in your home, hygiene, compassion to your pets and your belongings.
