Otago
Otago seems to have it all, from beaches to mountains, to rivers, to adventure sports for adrenalin-seekers. The city of Dunedin has much Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and a vibrant student culture thanks to the esteemed University of Otago. The region’s landscape includes both hill country and the Southern Alps, which draw thousands of tourists to Queenstown, the heartbeat for adventure sports in New Zealand. Stay in Otago during all the seasons and you’ll experience hot and dry summers in Central Otago, and snowfall in winter. If you want to live rent-free by house sitting, Otago is arguably not only one of the most beautiful places to do it, it’s also one of the most welcoming.

Hi, we're two active retirees who lost our wee mate, 14yr old Cavoodle, Riley, last year. So we are now doing a bit of travelling before committing again. Meanwhile, we've been getting our "doggie fix" from minding dogs for our friends, neighbours and even a motor home park which included two samoyeds! Prior to retiring, Ian has managed Waste and Transport companies and owned his own business and Pam has worked in the Airline Industry for the last 30 plus years. We both enjoy lots of outdoor exercise including dog walking, kayaking and mountain biking. We have done numerous house/pet sits already. We are loving the experiences, especially spending longer periods of time in different towns, cities and even the remotest areas getting to know neighbours and locals. We've also enjoyed some "sits" in Australia recently too. Our own home and garden are kept extremely neat and tidy so be assured we would take great care of your property.

Hi there! My name is Tracey and here is a bit about myself: My first primary years were spent in Upper Hutt with working parents and siblings. We had a dog named Mingo and a cat named Friskey! Sadly at the time, my parents moved further north to the Waikato region and we couldn't take Mingo with us ,but we got to keep Friskey. This is where I had my intermediate years. From the age of 13 my first job was delivering milk. During my senior years of high school I had early work in the local dairy. In the 80's I became a mother and raised my children, the first 10 yrs in NZ and the next 20 years in Australia. We had back then my gorgeous miniature foxy who sadly passed away 13 yrs later. Now my own two children have moved on with their lives, so with early retirement I decided to move back to NZ. I have been overseas working for 20 years and have been home in NZ now for 8 years. I thought house sitting would be exciting way to see our beautiful country. I am vegetarian/vegan so my love for animals is from my heart. I love being outdoors hiking trails and beaches! All my employment has been hands-on and done with very high standards. I have been raised with wise parents who taught me that hard work honesty & respect will take me anywhere. If I am chosen to take care of your precious pets and your lovely home, be reassured that all your requirements will be met to a high standard. Kind Regards, Tracey.

Hi, my name is Michelle. House sitting really appeals to me, for the primary reason that it will give me some variety from my day to day schedule . An opportunity to visit different areas, towns and suburbs, that perhaps I haven't yet experienced. It will also be like having a holiday away from home. Over the years I (and my two girls, now grown up and moved out) have had many pets, including cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, and birds. I have walked and exercised many neighbours dogs. I am an extremely house proud person. I own my own home. I am fit and walk and cycle every day. I love the sea, and the beach. I am an honest, trustworthy and tidy person whom would love to be considered to care for your home and your pets. Thank you for taking the time to consider my profile and I hope to meet with you. Regards Michelle

I am a 76 year old ex-South African. Retired but still doing some consulting, remotely. Full driver's licence. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I am currently house-sitting for my son in Dunedin and have house-sat for friends and family a number of times, mainly so that they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boardiing for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, fish - all OK. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. TV is a 'nice-to-have'. I also need somewhere safe to park my car, preferably under cover. I look forward to speaking with you soon ... Liston

We are a Christian family with 4 lovely boys who love animals and are very keen dog walkers. One son is now away at university and the 3 boys at home are aged 14,13 and 9. My husband and I have owned our own home for 20 years now and understand how precious the home is to a family. We like to keep a clean orderly household, especially the kitchen and bathrooms and expect the boys to contribute to the care and maintenance of the house. We love the outdoors, especially surfing and biking and do not drink or smoke. We are very keen to holiday with pets as our property is not suitable for them. We would love to see more of New Zealand as the boys have lived in Lower Hutt all their lives. We have flexible work hours as I do relief teaching and my husband can work remotely while we homeschool our youngest son.

I am a well experienced ,active retired Nurse who has her own small life style block where l encouraged nature, caring for animals and actively tramping with my two daughters . Because l travelled abroad with my Nursing qualifications (my daughters had left the nest l) l realised the adventure of house sitting with my profession went hand in hand . I travelled around Australia and with word of mouth, mainly my work colleagues l found another roll in taking care of a variety of animals / pets and then took an active roll after l was retired going to Europe with another house sitting organisation. I prefer to stay close in NZ now. I am a open hearted person who prides herself in making sure the home owners are secure in knowing l will look after their home and pets as if my own and the specific needs of each pet. I am trust worthy respectful and conscientious with a strong integrity in each assignment. I am happy to come a day or so earlier if that eases things. Every house sit l learn and gain greater understanding of what really matters and counts .

Hi there, I have been living in NZ since 2013. I was born in Hungary, but I grew up in Germany, both are amazing countries! I work remote for 2 companies and I’m very flexible in time, so I will be around most of the time. I am into photography (astrophotography), gardening, and baking, and I love books! In the last 20 years, I had dogs and cats, also I kept rabbits, finch, and guinea pigs but I have most experience with dogs and cats. During my housesittings I had experience with dogs, cats, cows, sheep, fish, and poultry. :) I've been housesitting on the South Island for more than a year now. I am happy to travel anywhere on the South. :) Cheers, Erika

I am a single Mature Woman with with adult children who are happily living their own lives in Hamilton and Auckland. I worked for many years in the Hair and Beauty industry as a Hairdresser and Beauty therapist. I have owned business and employed staff in the past. I now work remotely for a septic tank cleaning company doing telemarketing and database management. During the Covid lockdown I revived my crafting stills creating some interesting upcycling projects. I had been asked by friends to housesit and care for their pets. It seemed a natural progression to I chose to housesit in anticipation of travelling and I joined an international housesitting site, meeting some fabulous people whilst in the UK in 2018. Many of these people I am still in contact with. On my return to New Zealand my desire to travel remained so I continued to move around seeing more of our beautiful Aotearoa. Among the animals I have cared for cats both indoor and outdoor, dogs large and small young and old, chickens ducks and fish and also some livestock. Returning to housesits many times means I have developed some great friendships with both the animals and their owners, and also in some cases neighbors and friends in communities. I look forward to meeting you your animals and experiencing the area that you call home.

We are a family of 4+1 - Mum, Dad, 2x daughters aged 16 and18 years (our 18 yo will most likely not join us). We would like to have a holiday with the comforts of home including a pet to come home to. We have a Mini Schnauzer named Ollie who is 3 years old. We walk him daily on the beach or park and socialise him with other dogs as much as possible. My sister also has a Mini Schnauzer x Lowchen so they would dogsit for us while we are away. We love dogs and cats and would treat them like we do our own. Chris was brought up with cats and his family and a few friends own cats which we have fed and looked after while they have been away over the years. If you choose us as a sitter you can be sure we will take good care of your pets and your house/garden like it is our own.

Hi, my name is Olya. I usually start my mornings at 6 am with a coffee and a stroll on the beach. I love exploring nature, but I believe I am a city gal at heart. Being able to work from anywhere and having the ability to choose the hours that I work gives me the flexibly of where I want to be. I love animals and I would relish the opportunity to look after your fur baby like it's my own. If you do not have pets, I am happy to look after your home. I am reliable, caring, extremely clean and respectful. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, my name is Marion I am 31 years old and I come from France. I have been looking after all sorts of cats and a few breeds of dogs : poodles, husky, fox terrier, labradors... I think I am nice and tidy person, very caring and I also love gardening! Kia Ora! We’re Emma and Elias, twins on tour through New Zealand with a working holiday visa, eager to explore the country and its people. Whilst looking for an accommodation we’ve stumbled upon house/pet sitting, which seemed perfect to us both. Both of us adore pets and animals in general and even though we only have fish at home;), both of us have plenty of experience, especially with dogs. I, Emma, did a school exchange in 2020 and lived in a family with 3 dogs (a husky and 2 adopted strays). I took care of them every day of the year, taking all three of them on long walks through the beautiful nature of Andalusia and still, almost three years later, I miss them dearly. I also made a habit out of going to the local Dog-Rescue-Center, taking little pups without a home on walks along the beach. I, Elias, have a close friend with 3 young australian shepherds. Back in Germany I joined them for a walk every day over the last year and cared for them whenever the family was away. I’ve helped educating them since the age of 12 weeks and went through all stages of adolescence with the little rascals. All three of them have a special place in my heart and they will be my first stop when this travel experience comes to an end. Even though both of us have more experience taking care of dogs, we have helped friends and family with cats whenever we had the chance to. If you choose us as sitters you can expect two young, responsible adults to take care of both your home and your animal/s with lots of love and passion. Also, we bring plenty of time with us due to us not working at all or only working part time! That means we are very flexible and can always prioritize your pet/s. We’re looking forward to meet you and your little family!!!

Hello, Vanessa and Marcel here. We have been house-sitting for the Housesitting Company since 2018 and have done about 20 house-sits right around the country. Vanessa grew up in Mount Maunganui and Tauranga but has more recently lived in Otago for the last 20 years. Marcel has lived in Otago most of his life. We now live in Invercargill where Vanessa is studying to be a Nurse, and Marcel drives a School Bus. We both love dogs and cats and have had our own pets in the past. Marcel has until recently had Labradors and a couple of cats. Vanessa has recently had both cats and dogs, Chocolate and Vanilla the cats, and Chico was a very much loved Tibetan Spaniel. We have mainly looked after cats and dogs, but also horses, rabbits, fish, and one Axolotl. Vanessa has studied the first year of Vet Nursing at Otago Polytech and gained a Certificate in Animal Care. We both love the outdoors hiking in summer and skiing in winter. We own our own property so we are mindful that you expect us to look after your property and pets as if they were our own.

Hello, I’m 52 and am currently taking a year off work from Air NZ, where I’ve worked for 22 years. I’ve done house and pet sitting for friends in the past from Sydney to Wellington and really enjoyed the experience. I’m reliable, clean and tidy and love animals.

We are Petra and Peter. We arrived to New Zealand in April 2023 with a work and holiday visa for a year. I am a biologist, avid bird photographer and nature and animal lover and a cat whisperer. Also my hobby at home was taking care of the indoor jungle I collected during the lockdown. Peter is a nature enthusiast and hobby chef. He loves all food and cooking and the culture that comes with it. He loves animals and gets on well with all of them. We both love hikes, exploring new places and eating out. We are both curious creatures with passion for caring for animals. We recently volunteered at Save Vietnam’s Wildlife in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam were we took care of endangered animals like pangolins, civets, binturongs and leopard cats. This was a trully life changing experience for both of us. As we always had pets on our own or hanged out with friend's pets, now that we are moving to New Zealand we want to keep up our connection friends of the four legged kind. We know how hard it is to leave your favourite little creatures at home when you are traveling and how hard it is to find a suitable person to look after them. We helped a lot of our friends pet sitting and we were happy to see the relaxed and rested knowing that their pets are in good hands. We also needed to leave our cat Boris and our family dog behind for this year and we will miss them dearly. We hope that spending time with pets can somewhat substitute them during this year.

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a 42 year old woman who has been going through cancer treatment this year, thankfully with a positive outcome. I have worked in Education as either and English teacher, a relief teacher and/or tutor for 16 years, and started studying towards becoming a counsellor in 2022. I also have a nearly 21 year old daughter who I raised as a solo mum. I am intending to housesit as I move forward from a challenging year, hopefully to have enjoyable experiences in new places and step outside my comfort zone, and I also hope to save money for travel and for the future. I have had pets since I was a child. We always had cats in our family which have included a girl called cuddles one of her kittens, Garfield, as sweet girl called patch who was white with a couple of black patches and a black tail, and two girls, Mocca, and Cino, the latter who has been my my comfort and support while going through cancer treatment. My daughter and I also had our own cat who found us, who was the biggest smooch, I have known who I miss terribly. My family, growing up also had a golden retriever called, Zoe, and a budgie called Moses, and my daughter and I also had our own budgie called Mika, and we had a couple of fish called Bubbles and Scales when my daughter was younger. Hopefully, this gives you an idea that I have plenty of experiences looking after pets! I have had one experience of housesitting, which was early this year, looking after two male labradoodle puppies, and two cats while the family were overseas for three weeks. There was an issue with the puppies, which I resolved and the couple were thankful for how things were handled. I looked after their greenhouse during this period which required a lot of care. I see being able to live in and look after someone's home as privilege and would endeavour to care for the property how I would wish someone to look after my own. I think a discussion about expectations of what is important to the family is in an important part of that, so that if there are any particular needs or concerns that is clear from the beginning, especially if pets are being looked after. Pets are part of the family, so I would treat them with the love and care they deserve, just like I would with my own.

Hi I'm Kim. I'm an environmental scientist working in sustainability for an energy company, I work fully remotely so I'm mostly home Mon - Fri. My work sometimes includes travel to locations such as Auckland, Wellington, central Nth Island and the Otago. When I do that I like to house sit as I prefer to live like a local rather than stay in hotels, it also gives me the added bonus of fur babies which I love. My husband and I live in Christchurch with our Burmese fur baby Cookie who truly rules our life in a good way. In some locations when I'm travelling for work I go into the office occasionally, ie in Auckland. We are active outdoors people, love trail running, tramping, surfing and biking. We are often trusted to house sit for friends and neighbors when they are away, and we're are experienced and happy to look after small and large animals. I have also had quite a few dogs in my life over the years, fox terriers and border collies when growing up and later in life larger dogs. At the moment we just have Cookie but I doggie sit for friends quite often. As I work remotely I'm home most of the day, I like to get up early leaving time in the afternoons to get outside for exercise or exploring. If you have animals that require a bit of exercise that suits me perfectly as I like to get out for a walk / run. I've been house / pet sitting for friends and family for years and have loved the experience of exploring different locations and getting to know different fur babies. I will take care of your loved fur baby and your home as my own.

Hi, we are Tracey & Mick - both self employed work from home professionals. Tracey is a weight loss consultant & Mick an IT consultant. We are parents of 4 adult children & are a blended family. We have no pets at present and decided not to, to allow us to travel more easily. Previously we had 9 chickens - our 'other children'. We love animals and have had experience with our own cats (5), rabbit, guinea pigs, chickens and a Labrador dog (Abby). We even got to look after Sea Monkeys for one of our boys. One of our boys has Purebred American Bulldogs & we love visiting & playing with them. In the recent Auckland floods (for the 2nd time) close friends of ours bought their 6 chickens to us, to care for, until they were able to live in their home again - the first time we had them for over 6 months and more recently 3 months. Their 'babies' were well loved & looked after. Mick is a keen diver and loves to get out in the garden, Tracey used to be a professional cleaner so keeping a home sparkling clean is my thing - I also love mowing lawns. We both love to walk and do lengthier hikes & can be found in the mornings trying to beat each other at Wordle & Quordle. We are both people who take pride and care not only in our home (including the grounds) but any home we visit or stay in. We absolutely both respect your home is your castle, that your pets are your joy and we want you to go away knowing we will love your animals and care for them & your house (and grounds if required) so you can just relax. We both have the ability to work anywhere with a good internet connection. Depending on which one of us is working we will always have plenty of time to love, pet, cuddle, brush or walk your pet(s).

Hello! My name is Catherine Hampson and I am an Australian citizen wanting to spend at least 2 months in Dunedin (December & January) as my daughter is currently doing her third year of University at Otago and I would love to spend Christmas with her this year. I. I am a teacher aide working with amazing children at a special school. I am also a children's book author and illustrator and I want to spend as much time as I can working on my latest book. I absolutely adore animals and plants. I have always had pets, usually rescued and/or unwanted ones and I have been an animal activist for many years. As well as cats and dogs, I rescued 6 ex battery hens which came to me in a very poor state of health with hardly any feathers. Within a few months, their feathers grew back and they were able to enjoy the freedom of roaming around in the garden, taking "dust baths" and I soon discovered that each one had such a strong personality! One of my hens, Milo, would walk into the house and sit in front of the fridge and wait for someone to open the fridge door as she knew we usually had grapes in there which were her favourite. Our two cats were quite frightened of the chickens, which is quite funny really, and would only observe them from a distance. After having been a "cat-mum" for many years I then also became a "dog-mum" when I rescued my first greyhound. Greyhounds are such gentle giants and are really couch potatoes who actually don't require a great deal of exercise. Sleeping is probably their favourite thing to do! I have done quite a lot of dog/cat sitting this past year, including looking after a diabetic poodle who required daily injections of insulin. I have also recently looked after an Italian greyhound and his lovely home. His parents have already booked me in for when they go again next month and I realised then that it is quite hard to find a good house/pet sitter. I was born and raised in Switzerland which makes me a bit of a neat freak! I like the house to be clean and tidy. I am a non-smoker, non-drinker and prefer a calm environment. House sitting for you would mean I will be able to concentrate on my writing and illustrating and it also means that I will be home most of the time looking after your fur babies and your plants!

Hi there, My name is Laura, I am originally from Brazil and have been living in New Zealand for almost 8 years now. I am a digital marketer passionate about communicating/connecting with people. I am well-organized and understand the importance of maintaining a clean and tidy living space. I believe that a neat environment contributes to a sense of peace and well-being, both for you and your pet. I'm a responsible and reliable person with a love for animals. I had a few pets when growing up, including a pitbull crossbreed, and she was our best friend and companion at home, so I understand the love and care they require. I have lived in a flat for 4.5 years with an amazing cat called Pango. He was my daily dose of joy, and I loved snuggling with him in bed. Even though we now live in separate houses, I continue to look after him and house-sit for my friends whenever needed. During my time off, you'll find me exercising, enjoying the outdoors, reading, watching some movies or catching up with friends. I value the balance between personal well-being and social connections. I'm here to bring you and your pet a fun and stress-free house-sitting experience. You can count on me to keep your house in order and provide plenty of belly rubs and playtime for your furry companion. I'll make sure your pet feels right at home while you're away and that they receive the same level of love and attention, making sure they feel safe and loved in their familiar surroundings. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything else you'd like to know. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Warm regards, Laura.

I am caring and responsible late 30’s. I have been renting for 14 years including one single bedroom house for 10 years. I have house sat regularly over the past 17 years. Looking after dogs, cats, fish, plants in this time and always been invited back to housesit again. I’m reliable, approachable and quiet living. I Have decided to try house sitting to get out of the rental trap and save for a house. I understand the trust, privilege and vulnerable position of being in another person's home looking after what they hold dear.

I am a caring, bubbly person who loves to explore and travel. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Applied Management (Human Resources Major). I am hoping upon achieving this degree it will give me the tools to address the 'gap' of people and culture in the workplace when I graduate. All my study is distance learning, so it can be done from anywhere in New Zealand (With an internet connection). I grew up in the Waikato and Auckland regions respectively, I have recently moved back home to the Waikato area after living in North Canterbury for 14 years. I am very fond of Christchurch and I would love to return permanently one day once my degree is completed in 3 years time. I am very fond of the Marlborough area as well, I have had some great holidays spent there and many fishing trips! I have recently moved back to the family home in Ohinewai, I was previously in North Canterbury (Christchurch) but now I am studying full time it is a better choice to come home and not worry about finances. Even though I currently am not a pet owner (As I am committed to my degree, it's not the right time to commit to a pet) there are plenty of animals here at home on a quarter acre lifestyle property. To be exact, 4 dogs; Louie the Pug, Maia the Bullmastiff/Pitbull (Rescue), Bella and Ollie both Maltese, 2 Cats; Tee a Maine Coon, Simba a Mixed (Rescue). I think house sitting will give me the freedom to explore lots of new surroundings and travel of course! whilst I continue my studies. I love all animals and thought that when I grew up I wanted to become a vet! So your animals are in safe hands! I will treat them as if they were my own. I love plants as well! I will take extra special care of any plant life you may have in your home. In fact in my home in christchurch I had 33 houseplants to be precise! If you choose me to house sit for you, I will be respectful and caring to your pets and home. I look forward to meeting new people and learning about their travels. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your lovely fur babies!

Hi! I am Zisa. I am a decent professional, in my mid-40s, a registered teacher and guidance counselor in the Philippines. I was an international school teacher between 2000-2008 (Thailand, China and Indonesia). I am a sociable person but mostly I enjoy quiet and solitude. I am a registered secondary teacher and completed my Teacher Education Refresh programme at the University of Auckland Epsom campus. I finished my in service training at Macleans College last May 2023. My working visa is until June 2026. My son is a Year 1 student at Cockle Bay School. When I was a teacher in Beijing, friends asked me to house sit and care for their pets and I was happy with the experience. In the Philippines, I have Australian friends who asked me to house sit for them also. I am confident to say that I will look after your home as my own and consider you as a family member who went on a vacation. Growing up in the farm, we have a lot of pets and domestic animals - cats, dogs, chickens, cows, ducks, fish, goats, geese, turkeys, horse. When I was in my teens, my dad thought that the best way to teach me about responsibility was by letting me take care of birds - love birds and other breeds. During my late 20s up to now that I have my own family, I have become a human to cats. I wanted to have dog/s also but my husband thinks we cannot provide the ideal home for dogs. During the pandemic, we got some guppy fish for our garden. It just feels warm and homey when you have pets. My family would be happy to house/pet sit for you!

I am a budding writer (at this stage for pleasure), travelling around the country gathering inspiration for stories, house and pet sitting is a perfect fit to help me to continue writing. My preference is for house sits that are of longer duration, and will consider other opportunities as well. As a previous home and pet owner, I know how important it is to have a home looked lived in and pets well cared for. My green thumb is not too bad either. I am happy to say "Hi" to your neighbours if you are friendly with them so they are happy with a new person in their neighbourhood as well. I have experience with cats and dogs, chickens the odd fish and one snail... I am very happy to have a pet curled up on my lap - if they want to! I will be writing from home, so there most of the day to keep pets company and well loved. I am an easy going, friendly person who is clean and tidy and appreciates a clean and tidy home to sit. I am security conscious and happy to water your plants as well. I look forward to meeting with you via Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger Video Calling (or if you Zoom, send me a link) to chat further. Current dates available for 2023: 7th November to 22nd December Warmest, Tracey

I am 58 years old and semi retired. We always had dogs and cats while I was growing up. I travel too much to have my own pets. After housesitting for a friend I decided this was a great way to have temporary pets! I have just sold my house in Canterbury and have the kids living in my house in Auckland.I work casually as a health care worker about 2 hours each morning and also work from home for a tech charity. I love walking every day so looking after dogs gives me an excuse to squeeze in extra steps whenever I can. I have walked dogs of all sizes on a regular basis and have owned at least 12 cats in my life time. I am a former company director. I managed large government and commercial research projects. The business was extremely successful and sold a few years ago enabling me to change direction and take on work I feel passionate about with a lot less stress. After helping a friend with MS I decided to retrain in healthcare. I love helping people in their home. I administer medication and help people do mobility exercises. I do relief work only which means I am trusted to go into any situation and assess it quickly and take the correct action. I am also a community coordinator for a charity where I build and strengthen community partnerships and also complete all their funding applications.I do the charity work from home and need good internet to be able to work. I owned two homes until recently and lived between the north and south island. I am tidy and like to live in a clean environment.I will treat your home as if it was my own. I travel quite a lot. I am in Europe April to September each year. I have done house sitting for friends and their friends in the past and think its a great way to get a change of scene.

Hi I have lived in Hamilton, New Zealand all my life and I am married to Nick for 31 years and we have grown up children, a daughter and two sons and I thought it would be fun to housesit as a way to see NZ. Our daughter is married and living in Christchurch and we are about to become grandparents for the first time. I managed a house we owned as an Airbnb for over two years managing bookings per night so know what is involved in caring for a home. I have dealt with many different nationalities and many situations that arise from having a home on Airbnb. I had to ensure the house was clean and well presented and that the garden was appealing and well managed. I have always had pets those being cats, dogs, chickens, canaries, goldfish I know how to care for animals giving them time, exercise, fresh water and good food. I am also aware of the signs of when a pet is feeling unwell and when to take to the vet. If I was your house sitter I would update you on your home and your pets with regular photos and messages if you would like this. If there were any problems I would consult with you. Thankyou

I am a 32 year old New Zealand resident originally from the UK. I came to Queenstown in 2016 for one ski season and fell in love with this beautiful town and country. During the days I am a dog walker and offer both pack walks and one-on-one on leash walks. And in the evenings I tutor Mathematics online to school kids for approximately 5 hours per week. I have been living in Queenstown in share houses for the past 7 years and recently have been living in a one bed unit. I will be heading to Australia and Bali for the month of November and on coming back to Queenstown I thought I would look into house sitting more permanently over the Summer. I have been working for Take The Lead for the past year and a half as a dog walker and have carried out numerous pet sits also and have plenty of references. If you choose me to look after your home and your pets I will treat your house with the utmost respect and keep it clean and tidy. Your pets will receive a heap of love and as many dog walks as they possibly need. There will also be the option to take them on pack walks so they can socialise if you would like. I am also qualified as a pet first aider

My name is Agata, I'm a 33-year-old professional that has been living in Queenstown since 2015. Animal-loving vegetarian ready to take good care for your home and pets. I signed up on this website mainly for me to travel around on my days off and have the opportunity to know new places and enjoy some ME time. After these years in New Zealand with my partner renting houses/rooms and now being responsible of our own house lease, I understand what it means 100% to find someone who you lean on. I consider myself responsible and caring. I understand how important our house and pets are for us and if you are on this website we are on the same page. Let me help! My experience with animals are mainly with cats and dogs. I personally was lucky to be raised by a family who love animals and not just that, we had 5 cats in my parents house back home... Each of them raised as an unique member of the family (and spoiled... Yes xD). Our friends back home would always trust me for taking care of their dogs or cats and luckily here in NZ the same is happening :) With my partner had a friend's dog for 6 months and it was AWESOME! We checked all the tracks around! Honest, hardworking and reliable house/pet sitter.

Hi, As full time sitters, it's a big part of our lives so you can be assured we take your trust in us to look after your home & animals seriously. After selling our home and returning from the UK in 2021, we decided to travel around our stunning country while we work remotely and haven't looked back since. We absolutely love animals and enjoyed house sitting so much back in the UK, even after we bought our own home, that we decided to make it a permanent part of our new life back in NZ. We've even launched our own website, Bestish Life, to encourage new house sitters to explore NZ. With us you'll be getting a professional level service with a friendly, reliable and personable approach. Please note we're only interested in sits 3 weeks or longer & without dogs so we can make the most of exploring the area and community. House sitting is a great chance to enjoy a variety of communities and within a week of starting our first NZ house sit we've been booked up for the majority of 2022, 2023 and even 2024. We're very experienced, never pulled out of a sit, and have great references and police checks available so you can have confidence that you're in good hands. We've looked after various property types before, anything from multi-story homes with gardens and pools, apartments or a secluded colonial era bed and breakfast, all the way to rural lifestyle blocks with farm animals and living partially off grid. Since returning to NZ our speciality has certainly been rural lifestyle blocks as we love the peace and quiet of the countryside and exploring nature. We're extremely well organised, tidy, honest, flexible and caring. You can expect to return to your home as clean as you left it, if not cleaner, and with very happy pets. We've never pulled out of a sit as we're extremely reliable and the last thing we'd want is for you to have an issue because of us before you go on holiday. Experienced in garden and lawn care, spa and pool maintenance, rain and bore water tank system monitoring, ant prevention and setting pest control traps. As previous homeowners, we have enough common sense to know when to tackle any maintenance issues which may arise and when to request advice. We're also happy to do turnover service if you operate an active Air BnB on your property. We'll require a reliable unlimited internet connection (as we work remotely) and off street parking for our car. As non-smokers we're not interested in any sits where you normally smoke/vape indoors.

Available Jan 23 - March 8, 2024. We are on an extended trip throughout NZ. Along the way, we would love to take care of your home and animals. We have a flexible timeline and a vehicle. ...a little about us. I am a NZ'er and a retired educator. Peter is canadian and a retired computer engineer. Our home base is on a small island in western Canada. We are homeowners and fully understand the housesitting social contract and responsibilities. We currently have trustworthy housesitters in our home while we are away. Peter and I, make a great housesitting team. I take the lead with the animal and home care, Peter supports me by playing with the pets and cuddle time. He also leads our dog walking explorations into nature. As our three children grew, our home was full of much loved animals. We had two family cats and two family dogs. Oliver, the cat was much loved in the neighbourhood. During the day he would sit by the gate, greet people, and beg for a pat. During the evening, when he was not snuggled up next to the dog, or swatting her tail, he would find a lap and stay there purring. He stayed in our family for 20 years. Lassie, a border collie/lab/husky cross is perhaps the most acclaimed of all our family pets. Our children still talk of her with great love. We adopted her when she was two years old. She 'heeled' with the click of a finger and kept guard over our children when they were young. She was the most amazing and lovable dog - her photo has an honoured place in our home. In the past, we have cared for cats, dogs, sheep, pigs, bees, chickens, ducks, fischers parrot, rabbits, and hamsters. The key in caring for pets is to have established expectations: food and exercise routines/cuddle times and ensure that animals have ample fresh water everyday. We love all animals and plants and can turn my hand to most tasks involved in caring for them. Also, I might add that I enjoy exploring regenerative agriculture concepts. I am a founding director of School Orchards Africa Society, in Tanzania. Having built our home and hobby farm, Peter is familiar with most house systems, on and off grid. He is a good guitar player. We are happy to zoom chat with you regarding your home and animals needs. WhatsApp works too. Kind regards, Linda

Hi, my name is Petria and I am working in a job where I can work remotely from anywhere in the country so I am looking to explore more of New Zealand by housesitting! I am from NZ but only moved back a couple years ago after a long stint in Australia. I have done some housesitting previously and have been housesitting through NZ for the past few months and enjoy being able to experience new places without having a find a hotel and also enjoy giving someone else the peace of mind their place and pets are being looked after while they are away. I am clean and tidy and love to have some form of routine in my day to day so your pets routines shouldnt be too disrupted. I have looked after my own animals in the past as well as housemates pets, friends pets while they are away and also while I have housesat. You can expect to come back to a nice tidy house with everything the way you left it if I was your housesitter :)

I am in my late 50s with an 18 year old son, we both work in the film industry (im a production accountant and Joel is an aspiring actor but does also work on set when required in different departments) and more then likely will not be coming with me to house sit for you. Im also an owner of my own company which I run from home (Property Management specialising in Commercial). I am a registered foster parent (for dogs) for the SPCA for a number of years. Because my jobs allow great flexibility I am able to travel as necessary and am committed to looking after your home and pets as though they were my own.

I am a mature, respectful, trustworthy woman who loves animals and knows what a privilege it is to be given the responsibility of looking after others homes and precious animals. Also recently NZ Police vetted (November 2022). I'm semi-retired and looking for mostly school holiday sits and available for some weekends. I have my dream job working part time 4 mornings Monday-Thursday, helping women build confidence for the next steps in their lives. I've hired many holiday houses over the years, I'm not a hotel type person, and really enjoy house sitting where I can take care of your home and animals. I have my own dog who will stay at home while I look after yours, take care of friends dogs when they go away and vice versa. I'm also No 1 cat sitter for the neighbours. Massive dog rescuer as well - just ask my friends, they groan at every new story of me finding a stray dog and getting it home safely. I love dogs and cats equally, and when I am asked which I prefer I say both. I have my own dog, the second in my life, and have owned cats until 10 years ago. I adopted Kato (bichon poodle x) when he was 3 and he had fear based issues after what appears to be a difficult first few years. It took a couple of years to make him aware he was safe and just on the planet to have a good time. Now he is a happy little guy who loves to walk, chase balls and hang out with his favourite humans, my 90 year old mother being one of them - having bitten her the first time they met over 5 years ago, they now have a very special bond. They even share the same birthday. I lived in Auckland for 20 years and love the Coromandel and Northland. I spent a lot of time in the Coromandel over summers, in a tent, holiday houses, staying at friends and travelling in motorhomes. Living in Christchurch I don't get much of any opportunity to get back there and I miss the beautiful weather and lush tropical geography. I love to walk, bike, explore, read, cook, love art house movies and documentaries, galleries, being near or in water and am very happy with my own company.

I am a single/separated 46yo professional (Senior Management) that enjoy travelling and experiencing new towns/cities and cultures. I've been house sitting for a colleague for the last 5 months and decided I love the lifestyle, and with the work flexibility I have, I want to make the most of it as long as possible and save up for a big overseas trip. I love animals and connect easily with them. I grew up with and cared for a variety of animals (farm + domestic). Also open to look after animals I haven't dealt with previously. I am healthy, fitness oriented and neat, and do my best to keep my surrounding environment the same. As a house sitter, you can expect your animals, house and its contents to be treated with respect and kept neat and tidy.

We live in a motorhome and have housesat at a few homes which has been very successful. John has bred and shown dogs for 9 years and I grew up and had cats over many years. We have had positive feedback from homeowners as we have kept gardens tidy and get satisfaction from leaving a home cleaner than when we arrived. We keep good health and love exploring new areas.I am known to walk for many miles and we have our own bikes. We have only ever had dogs and cats but wouldn't be averse to looking after something different.

I'm Asha, I'm 21 on an a working holiday visa from Scotland! I'm travelling around the country on my own and looking for more options for living as i've been living in hostels for about 7 months now. I grew up with cats so have been around them my whole life and am definitely the most comfortable looking after them. I also have a diploma in zoology so alongside personal experience with pets I have a well rounded background in biology and animal psychology. I love to cook and I'll always keep your home clean and tidy. I'd be keen to meet or have a chat before accepting any positions just to make sure we're a good match!

Hi .. My name is Jude.. I am a 60 year old Women, Company Director and mobile travelling sales person, selling educational resources to schools throughout NZ. I have been working in a travelling sales role all around NZ for more than 30 years... working, travelling and usually staying in motels or my time share accommodation, which tends to be a little expensive over the year. I have flexibility and can work any in area. I am normally at work daily for around 5-6 hours and home mid afternoon to do paper work etc. feed, walk animals, and prepare dinner. I own 2 houses and at present have them both rented with tenants and flatmates. So I understand the privilege of owning a house and totally respect other peoples property and their belongings. I have done a lot of housing sitting over the years and have cared for and feed many animals. Auckland for 3 months looking after dogs and cats. Farm animals or feeding chickens, which is no problem as I am a country girl at heart. I have had looked after 3 large dogs. One that required monitored medication daily and exercise. I have also had to feed unwell cats medicine etc and have no problem caring for your pets no matter what there needs. I enjoy the company of animals especially since I am away from home so much. I love all animals and especially their little characters. Whilst I am at home during the summer months, I used to host overseas students that come to NZ to learn English. I have had many students over the years, Swiss, Thai, Arabian, Japanese, Chiian, Brazilian. They all love staying with me as i spend time with them and share our beautiful country with them often taking them somewhere for day trips etc. Homeowners can be assured that I will treat their home and their pets as they would themselves with upmost care and respect enabling them to have a stress free time away from home and to enjoy your holiday with no concerns. I am honest and reliable. It would be my pleasure to housesit for you. Thanks J

As a previous home owner I understand how important it is to care after a home. Furnishing a home can be costly so I always make sure when house sitting that I'm always cautious of peoples belongings. There's nothing worse than a carpet stain!! But I make sure this sort of thing never happens. I'm a single 40 year old business owner and before getting back into the property market I've decided to do housesitting for the rest of the year. I've looked after both cats and dogs in the past. I am very tidy and respectful and love animals! Open to any questions you may have about me! Look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, we are a middle aged, tidy and responsible professional couple (teachers). We look forward to house sitting during our NZ wide travel plans from December through to April 2024, after 3 years away working. We love animals and between us have a wide range of pet care experience. We are non-drinkers and non-smokers and will endeavor to take the best care of any house, property and pets we are charged with. Both of us have cared for a range of pets throughout our lives including cats, dogs, turtles and fish and more and we will care for your home and pets as if they are our own for the duration of a sit. We like to walk and explore our natural surroundings, listen to and play/ sing music, plants and gardening and cooking great food. We enjoy our own company and like to relax and converse and believe we'd make great conscientious and trustworthy house-sitters . Thanks and kind regards, Brent & Ajeng

We love exploring different areas. We are experienced housesitters and will look after your home and pets as if they were our own with care and respect. We can cope with the unexpected. Over the years we have had dogs of our own and looked after other peoples’ labradors, retrievers, Jack Russells, collies, Alsatian, mixed breeds and rescue dogs. I loved it when our Jack Russell had pups. We have always had cats too. Though mainly our daughter was the cats’ best friend. Hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, fish have all been part of the household at various times and once a rosella for a few weeks. For 30 years I have had one or two ponies or horses until my Connemara died in 2018. Sometimes I still ride but mainly I miss caring for horses. As we have had land in the past we’ve had various livestock, horses, cattle, sheep and are comfortable handling them. We have looked after other peoples’ hens and still say we will get some when we don’t go away so much. In the meantime we are often visited by our neighbours’ two hens making a getaway. My husband is a fixer, landscaper and creative worker with wood and natural materials. He is a keen caretaker of New Zealand’s natural environment. He is an avid reader and perceptive, humorous writer. I am still working as a psychologist mainly by Zoom one day a week. I enjoy the flexibility of being nearly retired and having time to play the guitar and dabble in the garden and with various art projects. In amongst this we enjoy time with our three daughters, their families and children and are looking forward to a new addition. We look forward to meeting you and your pets very soon.

Hello, I’m Kate; here is a little about me. I am a Teacher and have had the good fortune to have been able to travel the world with my career. I’m originally from Nelson. During the last 25 years, I have lived and worked in London, Bangkok, HCMC, Shanghai, and Beijing. It has all been an exciting adventure. While living and working in Vietnam and China, I looked after friends’ pups and then went on to foster many dogs. I found a tiny puppy on the street in Shanghai. He lived with me for three years and turned out to be a big dog. His name is Paddy. Sadly, I could not bring him back to New Zealand with me. I found him a great and loving home and have regular contact with his 2nd Mummy. I will always be 1st Mummy. I am sure you will understand how heartbreaking it was separating from him. I am currently living in Auckland and am keen to see more of NZ particularly the South Island. I am available for house sits all over NZ during the school holidays. During the last two years I have been pet and house sitting regularly. I love dogs and cats. I am a keen walker and love finding new places to walk. The only thing that is missing is a furry freind. I am clean and tidy and enjoy healthy living. I am a non-smoker.

We are a couple who have had many moves over the years due to family commitments. We do not own our own home, but we love seeing different parts of the country. We are animal lovers and love to relax, read and roam a little. We have three adult daughters, one granddaughter and just love the fresh air, fossicking for unusual stones on beaches and river beds. We have house sat many times and caring for pets is just another enjoyable facet of housesitting. We are reliable, responsible and considerate towards the home and homeowners.

Single professional, non-smoker, caring, reliable, and trustworthy. Hello, I have been housesitting for over 6 yrs now and have been so fortunate to have stayed in many lovely homes in Bay of Plenty, Taupo & Auckland. The gorgeous pets I have cared for include cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, sheep, chickens, cows, and guinea pigs. (I do prefer to look after cats as I can go to work during the day, if you have a dog that can be left for day that may work too). I love meeting new pets and especially love to catch up with wee friends I have cared for in the past. I absolutely adore cats and dogs, and have met some very interesting characters along the way! and I look forward to meeting many more. I grew up with a Cat and dog, and just love their company and playing with them, and don't mind at all if they snuggle up in bed. I'm also happy to administer medication and flea treatments etc. and take your wee friend to the vet if required. I can assure you that your house will be spotless on your return and I will treat it as if it were my own home, I'm quite the perfectionist. More than happy to water plants etc. and really whatever else needs to be done, you only have to ask. I do like to bring my own food and other essential items for the duration of my stay. I can also provide my own bed linen and towels etc. should this be required. It is essential that you have fast, reliable wifi - unlimited, as I do work from home on a regular basis. Whilst your away I will keep in regular contact via text, Messenger or WhatsApp with a brief update and a photo or 2. Please contact me should you have any questions, more than happy to discuss options. Where possible it's nice to meet with the homeowner and pet/s in person, or via messenger, zoom etc. prior to the housesit. Fully Vaccinated. Please contact me for availability, I look forward to meeting with you. Take Care Rima

I am currently running my yoga online business from home and travelling around New Zealand filming my yoga classes, along the way I’m also taking a holiday as my children are all grown up, I’d love to stay in new towns around nz to experience the beauty within each town. I’m tidy and clean and lead a peaceful life. I love cats and dogs, my own have sadly passed on and I miss them so much. I would care for your home as if it was my own and be a lovely friend and care for your pets should you have them. I adore cats, I’m a cat lover but I also love larger dogs as I had a very athletic, both adventurous and laid back massive golden retriever Max, he went every where with me as we both loved to be out and about, equally he was happy to stay home and chill while I went out.

Hey there, I am very much hoping that you choose me to house sit your home, i am responsible, reliable, clean, trustworthy and very respectful. I am a home bodied sort of person and enjoy reading, drawing, watching docos and cooking good food in my down time. I am a chef by trade but am currently working as a gardener/ landscaper as well as a few art projects on the side, so if your garden needs tending to I'll be more than happy to help. I absolutely love all animals and grew up having a few cats and dogs. I have house sat for people in the past but have never used this website to do so. If you choose me you can expect your furry friend (s) to be showered and bathed in love, cuddles and good times. ( if you have pets of cause) otherwise, you can expect your home to be completely and utterly respected and cherished and left in the exact order you left it in. I have just returned home after a year or so travelling overseas and am just looking for my options in terms of accommodation. I heard about this website and thought I'd give it a go. I look forward to hearing from you soon, take care and many thanks. Gemma :)

Hello, my name is Joyce but everyone calls me Joy and I have been housesitting for the last 18 months. I retired in 2013 and had been traveling internationally as a volunteer worker at summer camps in Australia, America, and England until the Covid lockdowns. I started housesitting so I could enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer and discover all the little nooks and crannies while out walking pets and talking to the locals that one tends to miss while traveling from A to B in a vehicle I have been house/pet sitting in and around Christchurch and have had several callbacks from earlier sits looking after dogs, cats, and hens. I would now like to take my time to explore and enjoy other regions around NZ. Please feel free to look at my references and contact any of my referees, who will be more than happy to discuss with you, the wonderful times I have had house/pet sitting for them as well. Please be assured that I make a point of not taking pictures of any of the homes and pets I have sat at because to me that is someone else's sanctuary and is not to be taken lightly. I look forward to hearing from you in the not-too-distant future when I can be given the privilege to care for your home and the precious animal members of your family.

A love of animals and any opportunity to travel & visit different parts of our beautiful country Aotearoa is why I am attracted to housesitting. I'm a self employed therapist and relish a change in scenery and the opportunity to take regular breaks from my work, which supports me to be the best I can be for my clients. I have horses and an elderly 3 legged dog of my own, who can stay with friends in my absence; I have regularly minded houses, properties and animals for friends and acquaintances over the years... I am a single older woman (57 years old) with no dependants (apart from my horse & dog) and normally reside in the Horowhenua on a rural property just outside Levin; I adore the peace and tranquillity of country life and find home a replenishing place to return to, and decompress at the end of a busy day. I love and deeply appreciate the restorative qualities of Papatuanuku (mother earth) and feel very fortunate to be able to work outdoors combining my belief in the healing power of animals in my work with people. I look forward to meeting, caring for, sharing time with and supporting your special companions in your absence.

Hello, We are Christine & David Eyre a couple of expat poms now well and truly settled in God’s own South Island 20 years ago, with children and grandchildren in both hemispheres. Currently no pets as we enjoy the freedom but we have lots of experience having previously owned dogs, cats, fish, rabbits, hamster’s mice and even an elderly tortoise. You will find us a reliable, caring Christian couple, both currently working part time in the IT and Health professions. Christine and I enjoy travel, walking, cycling and swimming, but also can spend time with a good book or two; practical and quite handy in the garden we had a pool in our last home. Having brought up three children we now have a wee bit of freedom to travel, although we enjoy our beautiful home in Tahunanui we would love the opportunity to care for your home and pets in your community and explore further our beautiful country. We have our own home in Rodney district. We are pretty much retired. Lesley is a registered nurse and Richard a freelance IT specialist doing occasional work from home. At the moment our 2 children in their twenties are in the UK. Circumstances make it necessary for us to return to the UK from May 23rd to September 12th so we will be unavailable during that period. We are pretty much home birds and are very happy to chill and read or make friends with your lovely pets. We have house sat before for a variety of pets - cats, chickens, fish, dogs - and very much enjoyed this. The main reason being that we are animal lovers and Lesley especially is feeling pet deprived at the moment since having to put down our most adored cat Ginger 18 months ago. We have taken the decision not to replace him at for the moment so she has become that annoying person that has to pet everybody's dog on the beach and talk to every cat in the street! We are mature responsible people who totally understand the need to feel that your home and pets are being properly looked after and treated with respect and would be very happy to do this.

We are David and Adrienne Smith and are "active retirees ". We are a friendly, quiet couple, non-smokers, who have travelled extensively both nationally and internationally so as to discover the beauty and complexity of this country and overseas, whilst caring for your home and pets. We are currently based at our home in Auckland, but are ready to travel whenever the opportunity arises. About us: David spent much of his early years on a farm in Matamata, before moving with his family to Auckland. He has worked for Air New Zealand, and its predecessor NAC, for many years as an airline pilot, both short and long haul and is now retired. David is involved in IT support for a couple of charity groups, which can be carried out anywhere there is internet connection. We do not need much internet - its mostly offline work. Adrienne, also retired, has worked as a nurse, teaching assistant and caregiver. She is a keen gardener and loves walking, crafts and reading. We are enjoying this next phase of life, exploring other parts of this beautiful country, and beyond. We recently chose to spend a year in the beautiful Bay of Plenty and then a year based in Christchurch. Now we have returned to Northern parts where we are continuing to care for your furred, finned and feathered families. Our gorgeous bi-colour ragdoll cat is no longer with us, leaving us free to care for your home and pets. We love pets and have significant experience caring for cats, dogs of various sizes and ages, and chooks, goats, cows, fish and birds. Even, on one occasion, an axolotl! As we have no work or family constraints, our two sons and their wives live and work from Auckland, we can offer dedicated service to caring for your home and pet(s) as we would our own.

Hi there I'm Donna I am a mature single parent of two grown children, a homeowner, a home renovator and a genuine person who loves animals especially cats and dogs. I recently lost my amazing dog so am loving looking after someone elses as it is too soon for me to replace her. My focus is primarily on your animals and am happy giving medicine or accommodating their special needs. Over the years I have had a variety of animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles. I have worked on a farm with cattle, sheep and chickens. When I stay somewhere I respect the owner's belongings and privacy and like to leave it exactly as I found it. I like to keep fit - I'm a Les Mills devotee. So am fit and able to look after your loved ones. I'm an outdoors person and love biking, running and going on walks. I especially love the sea. I see housesitting as an excuse to leave work behind, see more of my own country and spend time with animals. ..... Donna

Hi there! I am a bubbly, friendly and self motivated individual who values respect and honesty. I am a business graduate professional, and I am house sitting to save towards buying my first home. I am a mature, quiet and considerate person and greatly respect and value privacy. I have recently had the opportunity to house sit for a family who were overseas in Africa for three months, caring after their property, garden and lawns. I also have house sat for a few family friends for shorter periods of time while caring for their pets. I have a lot of experience caring for animals of all kinds including dogs, cats, fish, horses, chickens and others. I really enjoy taking care of family pets and spending time with them. Any home owner can expect their property and pets to be very well taken care of, as I value leaving a place in the same condition if not, better than when I arrive.

We are a newly married couple who both have had past housesitting experience as well as pet care experience, having looked after a variety of pets from, dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish and a turtle. Both of us have an affinity towards dogs, but would lovingly look after any pets who need cuddles in your absence. Jacob works full-time as a builder and Ebony studies part-time through Massey University and works part-time. Ebony often studies from home in the mornings and works in the afternoons, which means she would be home for a good portion of the day to ensure your pets have plenty of company. We are both mature and reliable individuals, and as sitters you can expect good communications, pet lovers who will follow your instructions, oodles of cuddles for your pets and a tidy well kept home for you to return to. We look forward to meeting you and your pets very soon. Warm regards Ebony & Jacob

I am an animal lover, affectionate and responsible person. English is my second language but I can follow instructions without problem. In my country of origin (Chile) I have worked for 11 years as a veterinarian, therefore I am the right person to care for and accompany your pets. I know how stressful it is for them to change their routines, which is why I can take care of them at home while you are away. See you

Hi My name is Catherine and I have had extensive experience in house/pet minding in NZ and overseas in Ireland, where I lived for 20 years before returning to NZ in 2012. I have been in charge of dogs (small and large), cats, chickens, cattle (dry stock), sheep, pigs, goats, horses, alpaca, lizards, and the easiest of all, goldfish. I am a mature, sensible, and responsible female who will also take great loving care of your pets and your home. My excellent references will help provide you with peace of mind while you are away from home. My flexibility and adaptability enable me to adjust to many situations and any needs that you have with your pets and your home environment. My current employment allows me to work from home for the majority of the week. Thank you for considering my profile. Warm regards, Catherine O'Neill

Kia Ora, We are a couple in our thirties who are settling in to New Zealand from abroad (Aimee from Australia, Tetteh from the US). We met in London 6 years ago, and are very much enjoying living in beautiful Aotearoa. We are enjoying house sitting as we love the opportunity to see different parts of the country, love animals, and have flexibility given we largely work from home. We are both working professionals - Aimee is a Social Worker having spent the last 13 years working in the criminal justice system, and Tetteh is a Forensic Psychologist. Tetteh also has a education background and has previously worked as a University Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, however is also a qualified Psychologist. He is currently contracting to organisations doing training and facilitation, one on one therapy, and group therapy for those with substance use issues. Aimee also works from home and contracts to Ministry of Justice completing court reports for criminal courts, as well as doing training and facilitation and restorative practice with tertiary institutions and organisations. We both largely work from home, however do have face to face meetings or workshops in town a few times per week. We both come from homes where we have adored our pets. Aimee grew up with cats, and has a family cat named Sunny who is the family princess and adored by everyone. Tetteh is a HUGE animal lover, and takes up every opportunity to spend time with family and friends who have animals (particularly dogs!). We are both very responsible people who do not smoke, are outgoing and trustworthy, and happy to ensure all steps are taken to ensure your animals and property are adequately cared for. If we are chosen as house sitters for your property, we can guarantee your home and animals will be in very safe and capable hands. We are both extremely approachable, pro-active and respectful individuals who understand the trust that goes into allowing others to stay in your property and care for your loved ones. We are very responsive and are happy to provide very regular updates on your home and animals, as well as to provide any reassurance that might be needed :) We are super happy to meet you - either in person or in Skype - to discuss any questions there might be, or any other info! Hope to speak with you soon, Aimee and Tetteh

Hi there, We are a professional couple (both Deputy Principals) with 2 young children (8yrs and 5yrs). We are active, love the outdoors and love animals. We are happy to look after any pets. Our youngest child is very gentle with pets, as is our eldest who is very used to animals. She likes to help us feed, wash and take care of them, and where appropriate, take them for walks. Rochelle was bought up on a farm and is comfortable with livestock and farm dogs. We have had pets before, including 2 shih tzu dogs, which we bred from for a number of years, so are used to dogs of all ages. We are also equally comfortable looking after cats. We maintain a clean and tidy household and will respect any property that we are in. We will take great care of your home and love your pets like our own. We have had a number of house sits now and all of our reviews have been excellent. Kind Regards, Shane and Rochelle

Greetings, my name is Katie Breckon, and I am originally from Wellington but have lived in northwest Australia since 2012, returning home several times a year. After teaching at Wellington East Girls College for several years, I moved to Australia to gain experience in the community arts and education sector. I worked for a major Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre for seven years, establishing a remote collection and media space. I then co-curated the Mowanjum Museum, which opened in 2021. I have been teaching at Derby District High School since 2019 and have an art career. I own a 10-acre property at the bottom of the famous Gibb River Road with my partner of 16 years. The property is mostly bush with lots of curious wildlife. I have no pets because I travel so frequently, but I have cared for several rescue birds in association with Derby Wildlife Rescue. Although I did not pursue a career in Animal Nursing, it may be helpful to know that I did work in veterinary clinics in Upper Hutt and Taita in the late 90's while completing a two-year part-time vet nursing diploma. My life took a different direction (as it does), working for a humanitarian aid organisation in Europe and West Africa before establishing a career in arts and education. I do not own a property in New Zealand, so I regularly house-sit in the Wellington region. Recent house sits have been for family and friends in Island Bay, Evans Bay, Eastbourne and Wainuiomata. I periodically use Airbnb to rent entire apartments and have excellent reviews from New Zealand and Australian homeowners. I semi-regularly look after a British Blue cat - Teddy while house sitting my sisters house and cared for a British Bulldog while house sitting in Island Bay. In Derby I occasionally look after two energentic Australian Kelpies, Bonnie and Clyde, taking them for walks along the salt marsh. In general, at home and as a house sitter, I am a quiet person, creative and constantly working on some aspect of my Visual Art practice, whether it's administration, updating online content or preparing for a new exhibition. I have recently been awarded the Creative Connections Art Residency at the Caselberg Trust in Dunedin beginning mid 2024. I enjoy gardening, hiking, and mountain biking and am preparing to walk the Te Araroa track. You will find information online about my work in Australia and upcoming residency in Dunedin. You can find my CV on my website. I will upload two more recent referral letters over the coming week.

Steve and I have been married for almost 42 years and are semi-retired parents and grandparents. We are young at heart and enjoy spending time with our family, grandchildren, and friends. Steve is a part time IT contractor and often works from home. I also work part time, as a self employed private house cleaner. Working part time gives us both the freedom to enjoy not only our hobbies and interests but the grandchildren as well - we often pick them up from school and spend time together. Steve & I both have several different hobbies and interests that we enjoy when we have the chance. I enjoy reading, listening to music, knitting, English paper piecing, hand quilting, and cardmaking. Steve has a great interest in NZ Railway History, railway modelling, listening to music, and gardening. We both enjoy an active lifestyle - anything that involves walking - as well as visiting local garage sales and markets. We have housesat for family and cared for their pets, and we have had cats & birds almost all of our married life. We have been dog sitting our grandchildrens’ wee dog on several occasions over the last 2 years. As a homeowner you can expect us to totally respect and care for your home and property and as a private housecleaner and a self confessed perfectionist you would be coming home to a clean and tidy house at the end of your time away.

In my most recent housesits in New Zealand, I used my experience of growing up with animals and my pet-loving and caring nature to support owners to feel at ease whilst they were away on their holiday. I am a strong relationship builder and communicator and am able to quickly build rapport with you and your pets. I value building an encouraging, positive and friendly environment with everyone I meet. An example of this is when I recently housesat in Wellington and looked after several chickens. As I do not eat eggs, I quickly made friends with some neighbours by sharing them so they did not go to waste. Alfie the dog and I were soon invited along for evening walks and morning coffees. I always make sure to send you regular photos of your pets having fun and being cared for as I know you’ll be worrying about and missing them. With my years of staying in housesitting, houseshares and living in tiny homes, I pride myself on keeping a clean home. An example of this is organising myself with a weekly cleaning rota where I split the tasks up over the week to break down the tasks and keep on top. I am also a keen gardener, growing vegetables and flowers from seed to table and caring for a variety of cacti and houseplants. I am happy to keep on top of watering and garden maintenance for you as required. I am enthusiastic, committed and dynamic and my experience in international travel, housesitting, owning and caring for dogs, goats, cows, chickens, cats and bees have gained me the skills and confidence to housesit for your beloved pets and home. Also, my skill in communication and building relationships with you, your pet and your close ones and my passion of keeping the homes I stay in clean will make sure you can relax on your holiday and return to happy pets and a a calm and clean home. I love to travel and have several hobbies including walking, cooking and sewing. I work in the health industry and after finishing my fixed term contract, I am taking some time off to travel and will be working in Wellington from June. I hope to get a part time role or a role that has some flexible working from home arrangements. I look forward to speaking with you and finding out more about your beloved pets and home. Best wishes, Millie

Kia ora! We're Laura and Alex: experienced house-sitters looking for a place (or a few!) to stay in Dunedin over the summer season. We're usually based in Christchurch, but Alex is a third-year mechanical engineering student, with a summer work placement in Dunedin that we're keen to both head down south for. Laura works as a marketer for a university in Christchurch, and has the flexibility of remote working to keep an eye on your fluffy friends during the day. :) We're friendly, clean pet lovers, and are super happy to have a call/video chat, and supply previous references from our house-sits in Templeton, Little River, St Albans and Rolleston, where we looked after a range of dogs, cats, and a few chickens. We’ve both grown up around pets (Alex in particular grew up in the country with cats, dogs and even a few goats!) so we love the chance to get out of our central Christchurch flat and spend some time with animals. In our downtime, we enjoy hitting up a good restaurant, getting out in nature, and Alex loves to tinker on a project (he’s currently building a bass guitar) while Laura works at a puzzle, or reads a good book – preferably with a cat or dog to warm up her lap… For us, having the chance to housesit in Dunedin would mean we get to keep our Christchurch flat while enjoying summer down south, making a few fuzzy friends while we're at it! We're looking forward to getting started with the Housesitting Company and hearing more about looking after your home and pets.

Retired, non smoker, healthy, vaccinated (3). Hi, I’m Dorothy, 68. I am retired after 30 years in last job. I live in the Hauraki area (Paeroa) and I like walking, gardening, food, being with friends and family, having pets as good company and am a champion for SPCA and WAP as animals need our help as well. I was raised on a dairy farm, lots of animals and pets while growing up and I live on a dairy farm at the moment, have been house sitting for my ex-colleagues as well for the last couple of years. This included cats, dogs, sheep, cattle, chooks and an eel (enjoyed that). I have rebooked me again and again and I am happy to help them. One of the house sits was in the hills, very private and tranquil which I enjoyed the peace and serenity there. I have also done for H/S sits in Tauranga, Papamoa and Wellington, their references are attached. Lately I have been helping out friends/family with sitting for their friends in different parts of NZ. It would be a pleasure to look after your home and/or pets. I would be happy to send photos/updates while you are away (e-mail or text only, not involved with social media sorry), so you can relax knowing they are being loved and cared for. It was a joke at ex-work that I liked things tidy and clean. Please check my references (refs recently have been verbal only, all nice to hear though) and happy for you to contact them if you wish to check how it went. Bye for now. Dorothy

Hello there, My name is Donna and I'm a 60 year old mother of three children. I grew up in the Hutt Valley and have spent most of my life in the Wellington/Wairarapa area. For the past 10 years, I've been a healthcare assistance at a number of retirement villages in the Wellington region. While not working, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, going for bush walks and reading a good novel. I've previously done the odd house sit for friends and family, however with my children having all now left home and coming up to retirement, I'm keen to look at housesitting more frequently. I love animals and our family has all grown up with both cats and dogs. Since a young age, we owned family dogs with the first being Budda who was a Lab x Dobberman and the most recent being Bella who was a Border Collie x Irish Settler. I understand it can be stressful for pet/house owners when they go away to not have someone watching over their homes or keeping their pets company. I get a real buzz out of helping people and providing reassurance that when they go away, they're pets/house will be in good hands. I'm aware that all pets have their own individual needs and am respectful and accepting of these. I consider myself to be a reliable, responsible and trustworthy person. I can't wait to look after your pets and house and look after them as if they were my own. Chat soon. Donna

Hi, my name is Carolina, 37 years old, I am a NZ resident and currently living with my boyfriend Tomas who has just turned 41. I am an accountant and I am currently working in a software company. I play hockey and try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week to counteract the chocolate and ice cream I eat while watching Netflix (my absolutely favourite activity!!!). At least 3 or 4 times a week I work from home and I love my job as it gives me absolute flexibility with my schedule. I’ve also recently started my MBA in the University of Auckland so I am also spending quite some time studying and going through assignments. Tomas is an Industrial and Logistics Engineer studying for an Operations and Logistics postgraduate degree (Remotely - from a Chilean University). He is particularly fond of dogs since he is super active (of course he is not a smoker!) and he enjoys going for really long walks. He is training now for the Gold Coast marathon on the first days of July and aiming to finish it in less than 3 hours!! (overall he has done over 17 marathons!!) We live in Mission Bay, but it doesn't allow us to get any pets so we love the idea of housesitting as it gives us the opportunity to apply our fondness of animals and at the same time it gives us the possibility to try different neighbourhoods or areas until we decide where we could buy our house in the future! We have experience with different pets as we both had dogs and cats while growing up and we've also did some housesitting during our youth and recently through this website!! You can check our references as we had amazing experiences so far in different parts of New Zealand We are available upon request for further interviews, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!! We look forward to meeting you soon! Caro & Tomi
I am a well organised & respectful person & very reliable/trusting after 31 year…
I am a well organised & respectful person & very reliable/trusting after 31 years in the international banking & finance industry & private consultancy space. I am now working on a NZ Government (MFAT) international aid & development programme since November 2020 that covers 12 countries across the Pacific. I lived & travelled overseas for almost 20 years & returned to NZ in mid 2020 during the midst of Covid & am now double vaccinated & double boosted as well. I have the utmost integrity while maintaining a solid moral compass & set of values. I am also an avid & long-term part time student & I am in the throes of completing my PhD qualification by 2024. I/we are interested in house sitting because I love travel & visiting new places after having travelled & worked overseas in many countries since the mid 1990s. I have house sat for many personal friends & work colleagues in the past including pet minding including a few housesitting assignments with the Housesitting Company now under my belt ranging from 10 days up to 6 weeks (which I am undertaking as I write this). The range of animals is also extensive & has included dogs, cats, goats & even kuni kuni pigs while I have also been charged with administering medicine. I come from a rural & farming background & so I am very comfortable & accustomed to being around animals of all shapes & sizes & descriptions. My hobbies include study, travel, health & fitness, fishing, diving, hunting & most outdoor & water activities. You can rest assured that any required tasks of me during a house sit will be fully complied with including pet minding & that your property will be in exactly the same pristine condition as you left it with all agreed rules respected. My partner, Evangeline, flies in & out from/to overseas as she is working offshore & so there may be the odd occasion when she will accompany me on a house sit if she is NZ at the time but I will advise you should this be the case.
Retirees new to house-sitting available to care for your home and pets anywhere …
Retirees new to house-sitting available to care for your home and pets anywhere in New Zealand as their own. We have always had pets mainly cats and dogs a few chooks in our lives from childhood, and friends have asked us to look after their furry friends, birds and we have a lovely very old Lab stay with us from time to time. After losing our lovely rescue dog Lucy during covid we are pet less for the first time in our lives. However, we get our cuddles from our children's dogs and cats, along with Sammie when he stays. We have owned businesses in the electronic engineering, manufacturing, and domestic cleaning industries employing up to 30 people. Brian is the ideals person with the ability to see a project from concept to market and I looked after the finances and administration. We retired 8 years ago, have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren and have always liked refurbishing our home and gardening which is a source of great pleasure to us both. We are always on the go, helping in the community, renovating family homes, out tramping, yachting, cycling, skiing, travelling and spending time with our grandchildren. Brian can turn his hand to most things in the home and garden but does know his limits and will call in professionals if need be. I am a cook, cleaner and gardener who loves to talk to humans and animals. We are both members of Rotary and like contributing to our community and Janice is a volunteer at the Community Op Shop and SPACE (a program for first time parents) and both Brian and Janice volunteer at Kai Tahi (eat together) community meals. We are doers, both physically fit and enjoy life. As born and bred Aucklanders, we are enjoying travelling NZ, house and pet sitting gives us the opportunity to get see the country whilst fulfilling our aim to see as many regions and cities as possible. We feel our skill set is ideal for housesitting and pet sitting, having the opportunity to hang with your furry babies and look after your home as our own, giving you peace of mind to enjoy your time away. Brian and Janice

Mature, sensible professional (semi retired) with partner, both with love for animals. Remko (originally from Holland back in 1972) and Caroline (from China). Both non smokers, enjoy clean living with clean criminal international and local records. We met in Malaysia while working as volunteers with cats and dogs for SPCA in early 2015. After that we did a period of volunteers with tigers in Thailand. Highlight of our lives. Great experience to be so close and intimate with a wild animals. Few scars but lived to tell all the tales. After we worked with them, cats and dogs are so easy. Next, hoping to spend some time with elephants. We have done home sitting in NZ as well as offshore in Europe and China as well as a 4 week stay in Malaysia. Although we like to travel, live clean and appreciate clean houses so your home will be looked after. Although not fantastic green fingers, we will happily mow your grass and pull a few weeds as required. As we both still work part time, appreciate wi-fi so we can still receive emails etc. Sky is not important cause we rather be outside enjoying open air as against watching TV. Also since 2017, a volunteer firefighter originally with Otorohanga but would consider helping any local volunteer brigade. Rem has in the past also looked after NZ Police dogs while their handler has gone on holiday so the average dog should be relatively easy. Happy to walk the dogs and where possible, take them to the beach if possible. Hopefully have secure parking for the BMW as well? Since Feb 2017 we have lived in Otorohanga and have looked after various local and surrounding properties. A 550 acre grazing farm and a very upmarket lifestyle house. Although its been fun here, we are ready for another area from now on. Long term housesits preferred but will consider short options as well.

Hello I'm Maggie, an Auckland based music teacher, photojournalist and jazz musician with experience house sitting both in NZ and abroad. I have recently returned from New York where I released my latest album and am looking for short and longer term housesits while I build a place of my own on my section. A little about myself: I am a responsible and reliable house-sitter and have cared for homes and pets around Auckland, and New York so experienced. I am a non-smoker, very clean and respectful of the homes I look after. I appreciate I am staying in someone's home and not just a house and make sure that the place is exactly as you left it when you return. I love animals and will happily care for your pets while you are away. Happy to provide excellent references if needed.

Hi there, we are Charis and Imogen. Both from the UK and travelling around New Zealand on our working holiday. Charis was raised in London and grew up with 3 cats, 2 of which, sadly passed away over the Covid period. He now has 2 new cats back in the UK: Margo and Milou and really loves having animals around him, as he feels most at ease when there are pets in the home. Charis works as an artist and painter, specialising in oil on canvas portraits. I (Imogen) grew up in Cambridge in a busy household of teachers and we never had pets, much to my disappointment! To make up for it, my parents always looked after our neighbours pets during the school holidays - which we still do to this day. I regularly look after my neighbours cat Maiko and their dogs Budica (a corgi) and Keira (a Newfoundland) as well as, their goldfish. I have worked for 3 years in corporate marketing as a Video Producer, and I hope to continue my career into Film and TV production. We both have a sense of adventure and came to New Zealand on a working holiday to explore the beautiful scenery and meet new people. Please take a look through our references and feel free to contact our referees, who will happily vouch for our characters. Both of us are patient and respectful people, and we look forward to caring for your pets and homes while you are away. Charis & Imogen

I am a hardworking primary school teacher who loves to spend time around nature and animals and travel around NZ in my spare time. I own my own home as well as a rental property, so am responsible and understanding towards other home owners. Growing up in rural Waikato with a father who is a conservationist, I was surrounded by all sorts of animals. I've had many pets/farm animals: guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, chickens, sheep, goats, ducks, geese, rodents, lizards, cats and a dog. I enjoy going for daily walks - rain or shine - so would relish the opportunity to share it with a furry friend. Some days in teaching it can feel like I'm trying to herd cats (herding sheep is easier in my experience). So, if I can take charge and responsibility for the safety and well-being a class of 30+ little people, I'm confident I am capable of doing the same for a few furry or feathered friends.

Hi there! We have sold our lifestyle block, dream home and animals, preferring to travel and the company of new friends. We are currently undecided about our final destination but looking forward to the journey. We resigned from our jobs in November 2015 and have spent the last 4 years + travelling the world and house sitting. We have enjoyed the hospitality of many kind, like minded people across the world, have wonderful memories and enjoyed finding our way in new lands and communities. We love life, people, animals, good wine, good coffee, good food and great company. Our pet-caring experience is extensive and varied - dogs (large & small, rescue), cats, fish, ponies, sheep, quails, chickens etc. If you have pets, be assured that we truly appreciate the security they feel with a familiar schedule/exercise/playtime routine and promise you that your customs, requirements and feeding schedule will be adhered to. However, we know from experience, it's not just animals who can suffer from separation anxiety! To remedy this we send regular updates of your pets. We are practical people and as experienced house sitters are used to dealing with a wide variety of issues - blown fuses, power outages, water issues, pools, security, etc. In summary: - - We offer honesty, reliability and commitment. - We guarantee security-conscious, respectful care of your property. - We assure you that your pets will have plenty of attention and loving company whilst you are away. We are always keen to Skype, Whatsapp or Messenger to get to know you and answer any important questions.. We very much look forward to hearing from you. Police checks and additional international references are available on request. Warmest, Jenny and Peter.

We are both retired/semi- retired health professionals and keen to spend some quality periods in various regions of New Zealand to get the feel of living there for a short time. We both do gym a few times a week and have recently done a trip overseas where we walked for at least 3 hours a day. We have previously housesat for friends and cared for their animals. We have also housesat for a couple in Sydney on numerous occasions and they keep inviting us back to do the same. They all came back to homes that were kept neat and tidy and animals that had been cared for well. We have recently done a housesit north of Auckland, where we cared for, walked and cuddled Ruby and Roxy, collies with a hint of greyhound. There are three photos from that house stay. We will look after your home like it is our own and ensure that it is spick and span. A bit of background to our pets: Growing up Colleen owned spaniels and Rob had a cat and a bull terrier. When our children were still at home, we owned a black Labrador, a bull mastiff and a rescue fluffy dog. When our Labrador and first bull mastiff passed on, we acquired another bull mastiff and a Staffordshire terrier! The photos are of second bull mastiff, Rastus, Toffee the Staffie and Puddles the rescue dog. Since then we have downsized and moved to a townhouse which doesn’t really suit animals, but we miss them. We will love and care for your pets as we did ours. Cats tend to gravitate to us, and while we don’t have our own, we do get cuddles from our daughter’s cats, Charlotte and Stitch and they live close by. We also cared for our daughter’s cat for five months in recent years, while they did renovations. Charlotte came back to visit us regularly once she moved back home! We look forward to chatting to you about your home and your pets’ needs.

My name's Tash and I live in Tamahere with my husband. We are not allowed pets where we rent and I miss having a family pet. I grew up with cats and dogs & love the joy they bring. I'm looking to have some more independence from my marriage, so am looking for 2 weeks to 2 month house sits ideally. I work from home, as I am starting my own virtual business support service. It's very exciting! My previous role was as a housing case worker in homeless prevention. I'm a house proud renter, whose loyal and reliable.

I, Caroline Mundy, is a recently retired Civil/Structural engineer. I was born and raised in Malaysia, but went to Britain for my tertiary studies. I graduated from Cardiff University with an honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and later gained a Masters degree in the same subject at Sheffield University. I am married to Chris Mundy, an editor at NZQA, Wellington. Chris and I grew up with pets in our families, and from this we gained a life-long love of animals. Over the years, we have had many different animals as pets, including a sheep which eventually died of old age!, a golden retriever, a duckling, rabbits, a weta and doves, all of which were much loved by us and our two children. We also adopted the school's cockatoo and axolotl during school holidays. We took our friend's cat to be with our family whilst they worked overseas. Sadly, our adorable all white cat named Pearl has passed away and we no longer have any pets. So, it would be really lovely to be able to look after someone else's pets. As we no longer have children living with us, we have more freedom to explore and travel to new places, which we both love doing. It also enables us to take a break from our rather busy lives by housesitting every now and then. Having pets with our accommodation is an added bonus to us. We are responsible and respectful people who want to help other families have peace of mind whilst they are away. We are friendly, trustworthy, do not smoke nor drink alcohol, are not party people and are Christians. Please look through our references and feel free to contact our referees, who will be more than happy to vouch for our character and our ability to look after pets and homes. We have joined the House Sitting Company not too long ago and have not done many house sits because we prefer weekends or short sits. This is because Chris still works full time and he would like to avoid taking too much leave for house sits where possible. We are both fully vaccinated. Yours sincerely Caroline and Chris Mundy References Graham Worthington Mike Fearn

Hi there, My name is Nancy and I am a clean living and retired lady. I have 2 daughters who are both married with children (3 Grandchildren) and I have had my own businesses in Takapuna, Auckland, selling antiques and old jewellery. I retired from this in 2009. I also owned and managed a Motor Inn in Brisbane, Australia. I have owned and managed my own houses most of my life and I have always had a cat (unfortunately had to have my most recent pussy cat put down last year at a ripe old age of 15years. His name was William and he was an Ocicat). I am extremely responsible, love animals and any homeowner could expect their pets to be loved and cherished just as if they were my own and your property well maintained, kept secure and clean and tidy. I keep very fit and active and enjoy walking, so if you have any dogs that require this I will be very happy to take them out with me. Thank you for taking the time to consider my online profile and I hope to meet with you and your fur babies soon. Warmest, Nancy.

Hi there! My name is Frances and I live in central Dunedin. I am an Artist that works from home. I find this works in well with offering my services as a house and pet sitter, not only does it allow me to regularly travel around both the South and North Island of New Zealand, but it enables me to spend quality time at home befriending and looking after your pets, giving them that one on one company, attention and continuity of care and routines that they are used too. I am a mature single woman, with no dependents and have an animal-loving personality. I come from a large Dutch, farming family from the Waikato, so from a young age I started house and pet sitting for family and friends. I am a very reliable, honest, clean and tidy person with good communication skills, with references that can verify this to put your mind at rest:) I have had many house sitting positions over the years, the most current being for Alan, in Otautau, Southland (see reference attached). This was a large property with one gorgeous dog and I cared for him for around three months. Over Christmas I house sat for Rosie and Ian in Christchurch for 6 weeks, they had one dog, two cats, a goldfish and a vege patch (see other reference attached). These were both very enjoyable experiences, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their pets and sharing their spaces with them. I also have a picture of Casper the dog in my profile - as you can see, we are out taking him for a bit of a driving lesson :) As my references will tell you, I am a trustworthy and respectful person who communicates well. I am very reliable, clean and tidy and have been told by past home owners that what they appreciated most was not only did they come home to a clean and tidy house, but they could see that their animals were well cared for and loved. I am a bright creative friendly person who you will find a delight to have in your home. Thank you for taking the time to consider my online profile and feel free to call my referees, who will be more than happy to vouch for my character and skills as a house sitter and pet minder. I do hope to meet with you and your pets shortly. Warmest regards...Frances:)

Hi, my name is Maggie. I am a mature and reliable woman, finding myself in an 'empty nest'. Without son and without pets! I've been a homeowner for decades, and so I know the value of having someone who will take good care of your home. Until now I've always had pets, so will love taking care of cats, dogs, chickens and any other animals you may have. If you have a garden or outdoor area, I'm happy to make sure things are maintained. I'm confident in rural and urban environments, having lived in both. Why am I interested in housesitting? I mainly work from home (computer) so am flexible about where I am located. I'm based in Auckland and am employed by the University of Auckland, but enjoy discovering new places now and then. And I have family and friends in other parts of the country so like to be closer to them. I don't smoke, nor am I a party animal. Boringly safe! My experience as a house and pet sitter includes occasional weekends, a three month stint, and everything in between. I've befriended elderly cats, huge dogs, goats and even hand milked a cow as part of my 'sitting' experiences. Happy to answer any questions as you make your decisions.

I became interested in house sitting after hearing about the experience of friends who have been housesitters in NZ and overseas, they both enjoyed the experience. I come from a background working in education as a programme facilitator and trainer and as a Guidance Counsellor at Waitaki Boys High School. I now live in my own property in Oamaru, but I am originally from Christchurch. I am a quiet living, very fit and active outdoors person and I love gardening and caring for animals. My beloved dog died last year and I have not replaced her. I am an artist and writer and very comfortable living on my own. Other interests include tramping, cycling, growing vegetables, permaculture principles and organics. I have been a volunteer at Riding for the Disabled in Oamaru and I'm also a regular volunteer at the local Community Gardens. I am not concerned how remote your property is and I have a preference for lifestyle properties and small farms and Bed and Breakfast establishments. I am experienced with large and small dogs and cats. Over the years I have owned a horse, chickens, goats and pigs. I am also an experienced gardener and can mow lawns. If I were to be chosen to housesit your property, you can be assured your property would be kept in immaculate condition and any animals lovingly cared for and well exercised.

Hello! Chris and Rae here!! We are very careful and responsible people. An older couple, semi retired, we have had house sitters in our home and have been very grateful for the way it was cared for. We want to do the same for you. Our Birman cat Coco - if she was still alive, would vouch for the love and attention any cat in our care would get. We miss her terribly. We want contact with other cats. We would like to stay in some areas in NZ and get to know them better. Especially by the water! - being sailing people..... We would love to take good care of your home and cat(s) or fish or well behaved dog - we love walking!!! - so that you have a carefree holiday. Maybe next year we will continue our travels around the world and visit our family - in the meantime we will look after yours while you travel.

Eight years ago, we decided to have a change of lifestyle. We sold our backpackers hostel and bought a large caravan because we love new areas to explore. In the past we have had corporate careers, managed holiday parks, and been custodians/cooks at a ski lodge. We have had dogs (sadly no longer) and have lived with family on their lifestyle block looking after the chooks, goat and dog. We still love caravan life but would also like to try the housesitting experience in different parts of NZ. (If you have a spare spot for us to put our caravan whilst we look after your property with tender loving care then that would be a real bonus but not a necessity.) As housesitters we would ensure that you would come back to your home after you have been away and find your pets (if you have them) well-loved and your home as you left it.

Hi I am John, I am 63 years old, retired and living in Whanganui moved backfromKerikeri 2020. I was brought up in Masterton and have always had a love for animals. As a child I had Gold Fish and built a Bird Aviary and bred Budgies, Canaries and Quail. Over the school holidays if we weren't away I would feed my friend's and family pets if they were on holiday. I have had cats most of my life and when I moved to Keri keri owned several lifestyle blocks and had beef dry stock, a pet Goat and a dog and a I also looked after neighbour's properties when they were away, so chooks, sheep are lovey to look after also. I have had a dog for most of my time up here in the north. I have spent the last 5 years looking after properties in Opua which were on Book a Bach. I had nothing but good feed back about how clean the properties were from the guests. During my working life I was in sales and I am a good people person and I treated my job as it is was my own business and 90 percent of my sales were repeat business or referals. That is what I aim to achieve with this house sitting venture. Your pets will get to know me as you will and it will make your holiday more enjoyable knowing that they are in good care with a familiar face. I love overseas travel but don't spend enough time travelling around our beautiful country. This will give me the best of both worlds . I look forward to being able to look after your pets and property for you.

Hello! I'm Rocio a 26 year old chilean girl. This is my first time applying to be a house sitter, I would like to know new places around New Zealand and what better than living an unique experience. I don't have a formal experience with house sitting and caring pets but I am a very clean and tidy person, so you don't have to worry about the cleaning of your home. Since I was 0 years old I have been surrounded by pets, mostly cats, dogs and cows. If you choose me, you will find a reliable, safe person who loves animals, and who needs to be in contact with pets to be happier :)

You can be sure your house and pets are in great, trustworthy hands with a police constable (Shannon) and a self employed graphic designer (Karen). We love exploring different parts of New Zealand and love animals so would welcome the opportunity to look after your house and pets. We are both non smokers, in our 40s and don't have children so have a lot of flexibility to travel when we choose. We are experienced cat owners to 2 pampered pets but also love dogs and would love to look after those as well.

Hi, we are a retired couple in our early sixties. We split our time between New Zealand and the UK. We are New Zealand Permanent Residents. Our family live in both countries. We have home and pet sat on a number of occasions over the years. We like to do this to try living in different areas and as a break from routine. You can expect us to be honest, tidy, caring and responsible in looking after your pets and your home. We can do short or longer sits. While we are in NZ we are based in Wainui near Silverdale. I grew up in a household with many pets including a pony. Once we were married in 1982 we acquired a dog that we owned and loved for many years. Our children had a variety of pets growing up. I worked as a Conveyancer and also as a Librarian in the UK. I have also worked in NZ as a conveyancer Gerard grew up in a cat loving household. He worked as a Merchant Navy Officer and the Police force where he served for 30 years. We have two adult children one in the UK and one in NZ. Andrew has three cats and two dogs, a poodle and a Coton which we mind regularly when we are in the UK. Heather has a Husky/Shepherd cross who we mind and walk whilst we are in New Zealand. In NZ we used to care for a relative's paddock kept horses while the family were away. This mainly involved keeping an eye on them as they were elderly. We were responsible for giving them buckets of supplements and ensuring they were ok. We are very tidy people and will treat any home we mind with respect. We will care for any pets in accordance with your instructions and try and make sure they are happy ! We would be pleased to meet with you before we sit for you.

I am a responsible and reliable individual who is excited about the opportunity to care for your home and pets while you are away. I love animals, come from a farming background, and have lived with cats and sometimes dogs all my life. I'm an experienced house and pet sitter, and I am confident that I have the skills and experience necessary to provide excellent care for what matters most to you. I am responsible, reliable, and dependable. I work professionally from home and am available during the week, at weekends, and on public holidays. My 15-year-old daughter, who lives separately, joins me on housesits. She we `house-trained' and respectful of other people's property also. I enjoy housesitting as it helps others. I have a tenant at my place, so I enjoy a little time away. Please get in touch with me to discuss this, and I'm available via SKYPE, Zoom, Teams, and sometimes via cellphone. I am excited to hear from you.

Hi my name is Melisa from Argentina, I have been leaving in Queenstown for the last 6 years. I am a very tidy person, love pets specifically dogs and cats. I much prefer the company of animals in comparison to humans, that why I love doing house sitting and escaping from my flatmates from time to time. I have an active lifestyle and my interests include gardening, pet grooming, dog walking, cooking and movies. I work part time as and admin in an office and the rest of the day, from home in a remote job. House-sitters can expect me to look after their place as if it were my own. I take great care in the places I house-sit and will look after your animal as if it was mine own. I will happily keep you up to date via text or email (your preference) with photos. I look forward to helping in any way I can!

I'm a 28 year old female, currently couch hopping with friends in Christchurch. I've just come back from 6 months living in a van, travelling the South Island of New Zealand, and I loved the freedom and flexibility the lifestyle offered. I had a blast getting to do my hobbies - climbing, canyoning, mountaineering, hiking, paragliding - whenever I wanted (and the weather permitted). I've had to return to working, and while I'm trying to re-build some savings, I'm hoping to find some great house-sitting gigs, even better if there are pet pals to hang out with, and save up some money for my next, overseas, adventure. I grew up in the country with dogs, cats, fish and cows. Rottweilers were our go-to puppy of choice; so I'm very comfortable with larger, 'scarier' dog breeds, but love any and all breeds. I also grew up with cats, and raised a few surprise litters of kittens as a youngster. I'm clean & tidy (borderline OCD to some people!). I like to socialise through my hobbies, generally getting outdoors to catch up with friends, so not one to host parties. Though I do enjoy a relaxed board games night in the colder winter months. I work full time as a Marketing Specialist for a small corporate health & wellbeing company. We have an office in Central Christchurch, but I like to work from home as much as I can. I look forward to hearing from you :)

I have recently separated from a 30yr marriage and have lived my entire life until now on a farm . I have experience with pets and farm animals. I am unsure where I want to settle permanently and see house sitting as an opportunity to explore different areas while also looking after others pets in their own environment. I would prefer to have my pets looked after this way myself rather than a pet motel. I love walking and very fit and able. I have the flexibility to work on line when away, and don't have to if I choose. I have my own car. I am currently housesitting in Port chalmers for a Dr.

HI, I love animals and enjoy taking care of them, as I run a small farm with my family I know how important it is to have your animals cared for in their own environment while you are away. I have experience looking after neighbours dogs, cats, horses, sheep as well as on our own farm we have a range of cattle , poultry and sheep. goats and horses. I have a farming back ground and looking after your home and animals while you are away is very appealing way to visit a new area while providing you with the reassurances that your animals are in good safe hands. I like to send updates on how the animals are as it is very reassuring to know they are OK when you are away from them .

Hi there, Our names are Alan and Anne and we are retired Farm Managers. After we retired we regularly house sat in town and rural homes and on lifestyle blocks in the South Island and Lower North Island. We spent quite long periods on some farm properties. We enjoy looking after both indoor and outdoor animals. In recent times we have been moving around in our campervan and seeing a bit more of the country and doing less house sitting. Before we retired, we always had pets (cats and dogs) in our household and the farms' working heading and huntaway dogs. Our last pet was a lovely Rhodesian Ridgeback called Sam who passed just before we retired. Our daughter and son-in-law's pets are regularly in our life (first a German Shepherd, then Schnauzer and now a poodle). We are most definitely dog lovers and know how to handle dogs and what is required in terms of care of them, including regular walks. Cats gravitate to Anne's lap. We are based in Marlborough region and can travel to house sit. If you are looking for reliability, honesty and professionalism with good stock management and housekeeping skills, you are in touch with the right people! Thank you for taking the time to consider our online profile and we hope to hear from you soon. Warmest regards, Alan and Anne.

We always had dogs and cats when I was growing up so I'm comfortable with having them around and looking after their needs. I house-sat for some friends and their two beautiful dogs over the winter of 2018 and decided I wanted to continue doing it for others. I'm a self-employed entrepreneur and can work online from anywhere. I enjoy the variety of moving around and experiencing different places. Because I work from home I'm able to be there a lot of the time to keep an eye on things and keep your pets company. I'm tidy, self-sufficient and responsible with other people's property. My motto is 'leave things the way I found them'. I look forward to meeting your beloved pets :-)

I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. My main past times are gardening, riding my electric bike, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years I've had numerous significant pets. My first was a calf that I cared for and trained. Because of my fondness for her, my Father kept her until I was seventeen when I went to the Waikato to qualify as a Nurse. Another pet I was particularly fond of was a canary, which sang beautifully and I called him Gusto. Unfortunately, he died during covid. More recently I had a stray cat that determinedly made herself home with me. Pets are great companions and I appreciate them very much. I began house-sitting before retirement, and have cared for cats and dogs, plus a few sheep and a donkey. These situations have been for family, friends, and acquaintances for periods of almost a week to a month.

Rennie and I met when travelling overseas in the late 60's and have lived in Auckland since 1976, always in the central Auckland. Both of us are born and bred NZ ers, Rennie is from Wellington and I Auckland, which makes for interesting sports watching on occasions. 10 years ago we sold our family home after 31 years and now live in an apartment in the same area. Even more recently we sold our share in a co owned bach which we had for 36 years, this was a deliberate move to allow us more flexibility to travel around NZ. We are so used to sharing and being respectful to others in that shared space we thought house sitting and caring for other's treasured pets would be a great way to see our country. We have been retired now for several years but previously I was a registered nurse and Rennie a journalist. We both keep fit and active and enjoy walking. Mostly I keep busy with volunteer work and Rennie a great reader and avid newsman. Prior to our apartment life, which we love, we have always had pets in our family, cats and dogs. Our very first animal was a cat called Ola, she was a dear fluffy puss cat who's favorite trick was to bring us presents of squirming mice. She looked at us as if we were mad when we returned them to the garden. From Ola we had a series of cats all named by our son, we have had Sally, George (who was discovered to be Georgina when being spayed), Loverly and Pokey. The later two arrived very close together and Loverly adored Pokey who became pregnant while booked in to be spayed. She was still a kitten herself and when her babies were born Loverly took over the nurturing role and would marshall Pokey at feeding times. We lost Loverly early when she was run over. Wonderfully Pokey lived until she was 20. When we lost Loverly we became dog owners, our first a miniature schnauzer called Pebbles who sadly died from, the vet believed, of a congenital heart condition at 5. After Pebbles we got Slick from the SPCA, he was a good boy and we all loved him for the 14 years we had him. We miss them now.

Hi I am a 63 year old ex draftsman who was doing occasional contract work in New Zealand but I'm now retired. I am a minimalistic, tidy, highly organised, responsible and trustworthy person with high standards in whatever I undertake. I love animals and travel so house sitting is a perfect way to combine these. I have been house sitting in Australia recently but covid has bought an end to this. I had completed four house sits in Australia and have now completed a number in New Zealand which have been a mixture of dogs and cats, a rabbit, a goat, a pig and some chooks. They have all been a success and resulted in excellent feedback. I currently live in Christchurch but am free to travel for house sitting in New Zealand. Now being fully retired I can provide full-time attention to your pets and house. You can trust that your pets will have a caring and fun time while you are away. Regards Brian

Hi! Welcome to my profile! My name is Tibo, I come from France (Paris), I am 31 years old, tall (183cm), fit (72kg) and in really good health and shape. I speak very fluent english, some spanish and of course, french! I am fond of travelling, enthusiastic in meeting new people, I am a positive person, funny, willing, open-minded, self driven and responsible. I am a good worker, organized, flexible, easy going, comprehensive, attentive, sharp and I can adapt to all kinds of situations. Before I left France to travel the world, I was working in a dog and cat shelter as a volunteer and that made my connection to animals so strong: being able to help as hard as I could every each one of the animals there was a blessing for me. What joy I felt whenever a dog or a cat was adopted! By the way, it is in that shelter that I rescued a 8-month black seter dog which is now part of my family. His name is Ramses, he is now 4 y/o, sweet, funny, so full of energy (I did a lot of work with him about that) and so obedient. I consider him my son but sadly couldn't bring him on my travel. He is currently having an amazing time in the South West of France with my ex boyfriend Benjamin who I trust the most in this world to take really good care of him. Moreover, I have been taking care of 20 malamute dogs in Sweden last year for six months, healing them, training them and going to competitions and races with them as they are sled dogs. What an experience to take care of sled dogs, almost alone, in the cold mountains of Sweden!

My partner George and I are currently living in Raglan so we can be closer to family since COVID-19 hit the world. George is retired from the film industry as a camera technician originally from the UK and extremely well travelled. He is very active and interested in skiing, golf, surf, tennis and anything that doesn't require him to get into a boat. I am a former secondary teacher and film industry veteran and also love travel, food and wine. We have lived in Queenstown, Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Gisborne and have owned cats, dogs, ducks and sheep. We are currently tenants as we try to find our next home and have been landlords in the past. We have used house sitters and been house sitters so we have had experience from both perspectives. One of the main reasons we would like to house sit is to spend time with different pets. Due to our desire to travel more we decided not to get any pets and I am missing being around animals. Your pets will be happy to have our attention and company all day. We are happy to house sit in any area and have experience with both small and large dogs and cats. We look forward to meeting you sometime in the future. Thanks Karen & George

Hello, my name is Sharmaine and I am a dedicated house-sitter who loves taking care of homes and pets. Growing up, I have always had a strong connection with animals and have been responsible for taking care of them since I was a child. I understand that your pets are a part of your family, and I will provide them with the same love and attention that you do. As an online worker, I have the flexibility to work from anywhere and can devote my time to house-sitting and caring for your pets. I am available to stay in your home and provide round-the-clock care to ensure that your pets are comfortable and happy while you are away. In addition to my love for animals, I am also an organized and detail-oriented person who takes pride in maintaining a clean and tidy home. I will ensure that your home is well-maintained and secure while you are away. My background in education as an English teacher has provided me with valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and time-management, which I bring to all of my house-sitting engagements. I am friendly, reliable, and trustworthy, and will provide you with peace of mind knowing that your home and pets are in good hands. Thank you for considering me as your house-sitter and pet-sitter. I am excited to meet you and your furry friends and provide them with the care and attention they deserve. I would love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your expectations and requirements in further detail. This will enable me to gain a better understanding of your needs and provide you with a tailored solution that is aligned with your preferences. Please let me know a date and time that would be convenient for you to meet, and I will make the necessary arrangements. I hope that you will consider me as your house sitter, and I look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to providing you with reliable and trustworthy house-sitting services.

Hi! My name is Ashleigh Rigby, and I am 30. I'm a consumer scientist from South Africa who is in New Zealand at the moment. I'm looking into housesitting because my profession is that of hospitality management and the area is tourism-based and I love animals! I have plenty of work experience in managing hotels, country houses, lodges and restaurants and I have done house and pet-sitting since I was a young teenager in my beautiful home city of Hilton , Midlands Meander in South Africa. I have grown up in a pet-loving family, and have experience in all pets from fish, birds, hamsters, Guinee pigs, farm animals, dogs, and reptiles! I am travelling alone whilst taking a break and looking for work in a specific area. Due to my circumstances, I am looking for longer time period of a housesit. I'm a very stay-at-home-mommy type of girl! My most recent housesit was in November 2022, in South Africa where I looked after a lovely little kitten called Tiggy! If you are the kind of owner who loves getting pictures of your animal doing cute things everyday, I'm in! Or, if you prefer to know that your pet is well cared for once a week, then it's fine with me. I will adjust to your needs and let you know exactly what is happening when you require it. I am always available on my phone and easily contactable. I will treat your animals as my own, as I am extremely aware and can relate to the love that your animal requires! I know from experience it can be nerve-wracking to leave a pet with a stranger, so I can assure you that I will look after your animal with the greatest care. If you don't have pets, that's okay! Due to my employment industry mainly involving running hotels, I live a sober, clean and pristine life! I take care of furniture, I make sure to respect the value of household items and I am mindful of electricity usage and water restrictions. My mum would definitely back me up in saying that I take after her when looking after a home. It's your pride and Joy, and it will be mine too. You can expect complete transparency and clear communication with me. Should I notice anything out of the norm, I will make sure to contact you immediately. I am honest, and will be grateful to have the opportunity to live in your home whilst you are away. I hope this gives you a sense of who I am! Have a lovely day, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello! Our names are Asha and Liv and we are both 22 year old Canadians from Edmonton, Alberta. I (Asha) personally am interested in house sitting to continue living with pets as an animal lover and someone who has grown up having 2 cats. I appreciate their love and companionship and would love to have that during Liv and I's stay in New Zealand. I have constantly house sat for my mom's friend and taken care of her cat as she often goes away for months. Along with that I have occasionally taken care of my neighbours dog. I am currently in school for a Bachelors of Criminology. I also work three jobs at the YMCA, as a childcare worker, a front desk worker, and a manager on duty. I used to play competitive baseball and coached it for many years prior to starting university in 2020. Liv grew up with dogs, specifically Labrador retrievers, and she currently has a one year old black lab and eleven old chocolate lab. She has always had pets in the house and would love to continue that while in New Zealand. Liv has a Bachelors of Kinesiology and is hoping to return to school to complete a Master’s of Occupational Therapy in the fall following our travels. Liv has been a frequent house sitter for family and friends since she was 19. She has house sat for up to 3 months at a time, and has taken care of dogs ages ten months to eleven years. At home, Liv works in child and youth programming/childcare at the YMCA, and she works as a baker in a local family owned bakery. Liv is a former competitive ringette player and currently spends many evenings at the rink coaching a U16 team. We are both in the process of looking for part time work in New Zealand. We intend to work different hours and days so someone will always be spending time with your pets. Thank you for considering us as your house and pet sitters. We are so excited to spend our summer (or your winter) in New Zealand and we look forward to meeting you and your furry friends!

Hello, I'm a single 39 year old paediatric physio who is looking to change careers and get into film. My contract at Waitakere hospital finishes at the end of December and I plan to have a break during January. I own a small unit which I rent out on Airbnb and need to be near to clean it etc. I would love to own animals of my own (especially a dog), but as I travel a lot and don’t have a good space I think it'd be unfair on them at this stage. I would enjoy looking after any animals if you have any especially a dog for my daily runs/walks. My spare time could be spent on a run/walk/yoga, heading out to a beach or bush, helping out at a community garden, hanging out with friends or relaxing into a few hours of reading/ photography. More of a home body his year and have a bit of work to do on the change of career side of things. I am a very clean, tidy person and probably would be more than usual if living in someone else's house. I'd love to do a bit of gardening as well.

I am a young professional working a 9-5 corporate job in communications. I am trustworthy, reliable, a good communicator, very house proud, and will treat your home and fur babies as if they were my own. I have grown up as a lover of animals (cats in particular) and always had a family cat as a child. My ex partner and I adopted two adorable tabby cats who are mother (Ava) and son (Otis) from a local rescue - they will not be coming with me to house sit. I used to regularly look after my former flatmates golden retriever and black cat which kept me great company during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns! In my spare time I love to bake, read, and get outdoors. I work from home two days a week and am a real homebody who loves to curl up on the couch with a book, a cup of tea, and a furry friend. I would love to have the opportunity to take care of your pride and joy (both pets and home) while you are away! Please feel free to contact me via the provided email or phone.

Hello, we are Lynne and Bob Mitchener. Our working lives began as a registered nurse (Lynne) and an electrician (Bob). Since then we have also worked for non-profit trusts and in the hospitality industry. Our last job, from which we have now retired from was managing a rural retreat centre on ten acres, where we took care of the bookings, looked after the cleaning of the house, the maintenance and grounds. We come with a wealth of practical experience to care for your home and pets. We have cared for cats, dogs, hens and sheep. One lovely pet -sit we had was Harry, a gorgeous little wire-haired foxy cross. We looked after him for three months, and declared that when we eventually retire in our own home, we will find a dog like Harry. However, we are open to falling in love with new varieties, and look forward to caring for your dogs and see them work their charm on us. We have included a photo of Millie, the black labrador with the guilty look on her face. She invited us to her home for one month, about five years back, while her owners were overseas, and we enjoyed the daily walks she took us on to the local beach, where she wanted to play chase the ball until she dropped!! Before her owners went away they gave her a stuffed toy, and told us that it would be "stuffed" before they came home! Three weeks into the house sit, the beloved stuffed toy was still intact, but alas, in the final week, we came home to this mess!!! Oh well, at least we were warned!!! As for cats, we love all and every variety, but are especially partial to ginger moggies. They are so smart. We retired from full time work in April 2017, did a 3 month house sit in Otaki where we looked after a fabulous soft coated wheaten terrier called Lulu, two cats, and 12 chooks! In september 2017 we moved to Taupo where we have retired, and renovating up our home. Two years after this, we were contacted by the owners of lovely Lulu, to tell us they were moving to a retirement village and werent able to take Lulu, so they were needing to rehouse her, sadly. The next four and a bit years were a lovely history for us, as Lulu joined our household and brought much pleasure and joy to our lives. Sadly she is now passed on, so we are available for housesits once again. Our main priority is, we have family in Auckland, and whangapora, so we are especially interested in short housesits in both these places, to catch up with family and friends, especially our new grandson in Stanmore bay. We have done lots of house and pet sitting before, both in NZ and the UK and will look after your home and pets as if our own. We are both creative, caring people, we enjoy reading, walking, cycling, movies and spending time with our friends and family. We have enjoyed cycling the Otago rail trail, the Hauraki rail trail, the old coach road trail and the timber trail. Lynne is a writer and Bob is an artist, he has won several awards for his work. We are a quiet, discreet caring couple and will do everything we can to look after your home and special pets. Thanks for reading our profile, we hope to meet you soon!

Hi there! I'm Ian, I am in my mid 40s and originally from the Waikato. Until 2014 I had lived overseas for 14 years and moved back to NZ for the lifestyle and family. I love travelling and am now looking forward to getting to know more about my own country! I've just sold my house and going to travel around the country and look for volunteering opportunities I've often looked after pets for friends and relatives and recently been taking care of a lorikeet, an elderly cat that needed daily medicine and dogs that need plenty of walking. I love being around animals and am attentive to their needs Until recently I've spent my career working on IT. But I decided to take a break at the end of March and travel around for 6 months while I look for a different career. I'm also looking for volunteering opportunities. I have lived and cared for my own home for the past 4 years and lived in many different countries and open to different experiences and lifestyles. I'm honest, reliable and take a lot of pride in taking good care of any place I stay. Please have a read of my references and I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Dear Homeowners, I am Maggie Gardner and my husand is Sean McBride , we are a professional married couple in our 60's - based in Auckland and keen to see more of our beautiful country. We are both fit and active and we love animals, nice homes, healthy food and the great outdoors. We both work from home which gives us a lot of flexibility and the ability to spend time with your pets. I am a self-empoyled kitchen and bathroom designer who is about to take a break from work before going into semi-retirement and Sean is a self-employed Workplace Health and Safey consult. We have both been brought up with animals and have ourselves had cats and dogs in the past. I have also been a horse owner and rider, having been brought up with pony club and eventing. We love walking with dogs and relaxing with cats and would be very responsive to your pets needs. I have 2 grown up children and a 3 year old grandson who I adore and Sean has a married daughter and 2 grandchildren who he dotes on. We have 2 lovely homes of our own, one in Auckland which is our main home currently, and one in Opononi on the Hokianga Harbour in the far north of the north island, which is listed on a holiday homes website and managed by a very nice couple in the area. We are responsible and very respectful of other people's properties. I would be the main house-sitter and Sean would come and go as work allows. We would be honoured to look after your home and care for your precious pets.

Very clean, tidy responsible - well travelled single man working freelance in the film industry (based in New Zealand and London). I often have time between work projects (ranging from a week to a few months) where it would be lovely to lead more of a structured domestic lifestyle, including dog walking/pet care as I love being around animals; with plenty of experience in caring for the pets of family and friends. I am based in Wellington (NZ/UK dual citizen), but happy to consider house sitting placements across New Zealand to experience living in new areas. I have travelled around both North and South Islands extensively for work and pleasure.

Myself and my partner Jesse have just recently moved from Queenstown to Wanaka due to Jesse being offered new role here as Project Manager in residential construction. I am working as IT Business Analyst for a bank from home and my work is flexible, which allows me to look after animals, take them for a walk during the day and play. Due to current rental shortage in the area we have started housesitting as our jobs are flexible and we love helping others and find a deep affection to animals. We believe we are now well-versed in the care and maintenance of various domestic pets such as dogs, cats, chickens and even turtles. Elizabeth has also experience looking after horses. Whether it's administering medication, grooming, or providing plenty of love and attention, caring for pets comes naturally to us. We understand that every homeowner has unique needs and preferences, and we are dedicated to listening carefully to ensure we meet those needs. We both live a peaceful lifestyle, we don't drink, nor we smoke. We are rather very much clean freaks and love a clean surrounding, our previous landlord praised us for how clean we left the place. Our biggest passion is paragliding and we often go flying on weekends from Treble Cone and explore the beautiful Matukituki valley from the air.

I am an active adventurous retiree who enjoys walking, cycling, gardening, caring for animals and meeting new people. I can adapt to most situations and remain calm and practical when the occasion requires it. I am trust worthy having keys to other properties when owners have been unable to return home during covid-19. Dependable, honest, non smoker, tidy and I present myself well. I treat other peoples homes as if they were my own being respectful of personal spaces and am happy to nurture plants indoors and out. I have experience mostly of caring for cats and dogs in Spain where I lived for 8 years. I was a registered volunteer feeder of 2 feral cat colonies until I left Spain in 2021. I have very good rapport with animals and was a long time friend of Trixie, a horse. I am very reliable and compassionate with a caring nature. I am happy to use zoom if distance means it is impractical to meet up before an assignment. I invite you to contact me by phone in the first instance.

My name is John Wilkinson and my wife is Lindy Smith. We are both in our 60’s, now retired after lengthy careers in teaching and secondary school leadership. At the same time as working we have enjoyed a busy family life that has always had at its core cats, dogs and the occasional guinea pig. As a couple we have always been the ‘go to’ people for house and pet care, sitting advice and support for family, friends and work colleagues. I grew up originally in England where my father bred Boxers: so dogs have been a major presence in my childhood and further as family pets throughout our 30 years here in New Zealand. (a tradition continued by our married son and his Boxer dog.) Lindy has always had cats within her family and upbringing and she was the person who introduced me to the joys of a mixed pet household when we started our first home in UK. Our ‘record’ achieved here in New Zealand is 2 cats, 2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs and various temporarily adopted four-legged friends! We are home owners who take pride in our property and would transfer that responsible care to any house we were looking after. We have traveled widely, enjoying different cultures and cuisines and we bring an energetic approach to all we do. We have used a house-sitting service successfully in the past when we had pets and thus appreciate the expectations of house owners: - that their homes will be cherished, and their pets cared for well. In our retirement we are exploring other areas of New Zealand and the world. We both enjoy an active life – cycling, walking and swimming and I have recently taken up Paddle Boarding as a hobby. We are excited by each of our house-sits and the encounters with new people, pets, places and experiences which they provide – but we are mindful of the importance of house owners feeling comfortable with entrusting their precious homes and pets to others. We would be pleased to talk with you and answer any further questions.

Hello, I'm a Kiwi with over 14 years of housesitting experience and it's my priority to provide you with complete peace of mind so you can fully enjoy your time away, rest easy at night and look forward to your return. The majority of my time is spent happily ensconced at your property so your pets will enjoy companionship, conversation (yes I talk freely and openly with my animal friends), and plenty of affection. My gentle, sensitive and playful nature allows me to bond easily with shy or timid darlings, as well as being able to bring out the best in those more gregarious. Not only will your home remain safely occupied, if you have pets, they will be cared for as if they were my own. Their routine will be maintained and if they have special needs, dietary requirements, habits or funny little quirks, I can carefully attend to these. Bins are put out for collection, errands are completed, and any indoor plants, gardens and lawns, etc well tended. Depending upon your needs, I can also provide regular updates while you are away, collect mail, forward packages, oversee maintenance jobs, as well as take phone messages, so your life runs as smoothly as possible. Trustworthy, tidy, responsible and thoughtful with a good sense of humour, I'm happiest in a harmonious and ordered abode. While I can readily housesit in a city, I have a deep affinity with nature and the night sky and find myself drawn to rural locations. A healthy lifestyle is important to me (sober, non-smoker), and as I love the Earth with all my heart, I ensure my footprint on the planet is light. I respect resources, support sustainability, and am energy efficient. I also reduce waste, reuse and upcycle whenever possible. I have successfully tended my own garden in the past, and am accustomed to water conservation from living on islands and lifestyle blocks where I relied upon rainwater. I'm a keen walker, explorer, and photographer with a fondness for gardens, forests, and the countryside. Sourcing local seasonal produce provides much joy, as does meeting growers, visiting producers and farmers - particularly those who use organic systems. I also integrate my qualifications as a herbalist, naturopath, nutritionist, homeopath, aromatherapist and remedial masseuse into my life and those I take care of - including pets if they need help. I welcome the opportunity to look after your beloved home, pets, garden and house plants, keeping them safe, well maintained and cared for. Housesitting began for me in early 2008, and I've been caring for people's pets and properties ever since. My first role was for twelve months in Austria, Europe looking after 6 cats and one small dog. I've also looked after three cats in Rome, a shy rescue pussycat in Amsterdam, an apartment in London, and a property in a remote location in Fiji for three months. From August to November 2009, I was responsible for a private and isolated home listed with Sotheby's in New Zealand. I'm now based in the South Island where I continue to housesit.

Kia Ora! We are a French couple passionate by travels, new cultures and photography. We love to hike and do road trips, take pictures of landscapes and wild animals. We both have animals back home (cats and dogs) and are always more than happy when we are surrounded by pets! Alexis (31yo) has been a technical Director in real estate for 10 years. He could handle any technical issue that may happen in the house. He is a full-time Gardener/Landscaper, so all your garden and interior plants would be in good hands. Alexandra (27yo) adores languages and speaks perfect English. She’s a very organised and multi-tasker person. She could handle any situation where it is needed to speak good English. She just finished her contract at The University of Auckland as a Team Coordinator in Commercial Services. We arrived in NZ in July 2022. We already “house/pet-sitted” in several houses (Herne Bay, Morningside, Freemans Bay, Avondale, Long Bay, Christchurch, Queenstown) for long stays.

I am 67 but still feel like I’m in my 40s. I enjoy keeping fit. I hike, swim, love walking my daughter's labrador on the beach most mornings, l paddle board when condictions are right and practise yoga. As a child I grew up with Ponty the dog then Kim a Golden Spaniel, we also had Whiskers the cat. They were my buddies and were part of the games we played in the back yard. My biggest love was horses and my dapple grey horse called Centennial. John has a love for all animals too and grew up with Shep the border collie, in his adolescence he had pigeons . I volunteer for Riding For The Disabled and absolutely love it. The difference you see in the confidence of the children that are participating is very heart warming. We are confident with handling farm animals. I love animals any size, colour, hairy, bald, old or young and especially their individual personalities. Our first house sitting experience we looked after Ian and Debbie Shuttleworths house and rescue dog named Heney for 6 months while the owners went back home to England. The second was sitting a friend's house Dean and Nancy for the winter while they were in Australia. We will respect your property, keep the yards tidy, mow lawns etc, most importantly the house will be kept spotless and the pets will be loved as if they were our own.

We're an honest and trustworthy hard working professional couple living in Auckland. Having now lived in NZ for over 15 years we have a network of friends and family throughout the country who we like to visit when we find the opportunity. Our reason for exploring house sitting is to hopefully be of service to similar people like ourselves who like to do a bit of travel. Therefore giving them the peace of mind to have a worry free time away from their own property and pets, knowing they're in safe and capable hands. Over the years we have always utilised friends for any longer term house sitting requirements and in the past have been house sitters for overseas property investors. We quite often look after the pets of our friends when they go on holiday. You can expect your property to be looked after as if it were our own. To always be in the same condition as you left it and if required we quite enjoy doing a bit of pottering in the garden.

We're ready and willing to assist you! Coming from a farming background, we're experienced in animal welfare and are very familiar with the love of the land! You can entrust your home, your animals/pets, and your possessions in our capable hands - we pride ourselves in our honesty, our integrity, our reliability, and our caring nature. We are retired farmers and extra handy with any minor repairs which can be necessary from time to time. We have recently moved from a lifestyle block in sunny Marlborough. This block required loads of time for gardening - hence we are not afraid of additional garden maintenance if required. Lyn, when and if available, is periodically approached to assist at a local Medical Centre on a casual part-time basis. Allan is fully retired but enjoys doing voluntary work, the outdoors, animals, and generally keeping himself busy! Allan looks forward to sharing over 50 years of farming experience, if and when required. His vast involvement has been varied, covering many aspects of successful farming i.e. from dairy farming, sheep and cropping, deer farming, to operating a Farm-Stay in the Mackenzie country which housed a great variety of animals, including many pets. We ran small flocks of fattening sheep on our 5 acres which also offered a great assortment of fruits, berries and plentiful vegies. We had great delight in sharing the excess with friends, neighbours, and locals in the village. We’ve owned and loved many pets – Golden Retriever, Golden Cavalier Spaniel, Germans Shepherds, and our last pet .. wee Kitty – a gorgeous Ginger who followed Allan everywhere and sat at his heels. Kitty has now passed on. We have recently moved into our new home in central Blenheim after a long 20 month build time. During this 20 month period, we successfully completed many Housesits for a variety of interesting and lovely folks and thank them for the opportunity of being able to care for and share their pets and/or animals, and their treasured properties. With over 21 years of voluntary work in Lions and other worthy organizations, we would also like to focus our energy into meeting others and being of assistance to those wishing to take a break from their home or farm. We enjoy travelling in our caravan and meeting with other interesting folks. We offer a sincere passion and expertise in caring for your pets, your livestock and that prize possession ... your property!

We are Simona and Rokas, a couple of sailors on the long journey with our sailboat around the world. As we are doing some repairs and upgrades on our boat, we'll be spending quite some time in NZ and would love to explore this stunning country on land too. After a long time living on a boat, the opportunity to take care of a house and pets for a little bit and enjoy land life, sounds super appealing to us. We are nature lovers, outdoor people and we truly like animals. We both had pets before our journey and we miss that bond you can create with animals. Three years living on a boat in remote locations taught us a lot - taking responsibility about everything on your own, fixing things, be creative in all kind of situations you get in. You can be sure that your house and garden will be looked after with high responsibility as well as your pets. We know how sad is to be away from your pets so we will update you while we house sit with photographs/videos if you like. Feel free to PM us if you have any further questions.

I do respect others and would like to spread kindness. I sincerely hope to get this amazing opportunity :)

Hi there, Mick and I (Debbie) are from the UK and are back after lockdown to visit our son in NZ. He only went for a gap year to St Kentigens school in Auckland but decided to stay in NZ, so we come over each year to see him and escape the UK winter. To put your minds at rest we are both fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and are happy to share our vaccination record with you. So here is why we believe we would be right to look after your fur babies. We have both had dogs and cats through out our lives, as children and as a family together. In the UK we had a reciprocal arrangement with dear friends where by we looked after their dogs whilst they were away and vice-versa. So our dog numbers tripled. The dogs needed a good couple of hours a day walking and often came home from the woods wet and muddy. Meaning they couldn't go back into the house until washed and well rubbed dry. Our pets have all passed away now and as we spend a long time away from home visiting NZ, it is not fair or practical for us to have more of our own so we get our dog and cat "fix" by looking after other peoples pets. Coming to New Zealand during the grey English winter not only allows us to see our son but increases the amount of summer we experience every year. Our own extensive garden and allotments (space we rent to vegetable garden) are in their dormant period and our own home is tucked up to protect it from the worst of the winter cold. During our stays in NZ we often rent homes and always treat them as if they were our own. Owners have often commented how clean and tidy we have left them. (See our reviews for further confirmation). In the UK we provide very high quality rental accommodation and run a property maintenance company to up hold these standards. We wouldn't let a property that we couldn't live in ourselves. The fact that our tenants stay for a long time speaks positively for us as Landlords, one of our tenants has been with us for over ten years. As your sitter we would treat your home and pets as if they were our own, but following your instructions and rules on what they are and are not allowed to do, how much daily walking is required and their dietary requirements. Once we leave your home you will not know we have been there. The transition between you leaving, us staying and you returning will be seamless. We look forward to enjoying your home and pets. If you would like to chat while we are in the UK please phone using 'What's App' but remember you are 13 hours ahead of us. Mick and Debbie

I am a friendly, kind, fully vaccinated non smoker and I love people and animals....I really enjoy hiking, reading, movies, numbers, handcrafts, friends, family and pottering around home. I am comfortable looking after apartments in the city, homes in the suburbs and also homes in rural areas - pets or no pets. I have been with the Housesitting Company since November 2021 and have a few references online. If you require further reassurance I have a list of other home-owners/pet-owners who are happy to be called as referees. Please email or text me and I can provide more details to put you in touch with some of those who may have similar animals and/or houses as yourself. I am a mum of two gorgeous young adults who are running their own worlds....I currently base myself Everywhere as housesitting has become a Lifestyle and I housesit full time (renting a room "by the night" with a friend between housesits). My only constant is I work fulltime in Rangiora, North Canterbury as an Accounting Systems Consultant for an Accounting firm. *************************************** I love to housesit to help others - so homeowners can have a holiday reassured that their home and animals are well looked after. From my own previous experience, I know how hard it can be to find a kennel/cattery or a suitable person to look after the gorgeous animals in our lives. For me house-sitting is a lovely change of scenery and it would be fabulous to care for other people’s animals and/or home. I really enjoy the company of other people’s animals. I call this my early working retirement....and as I mentioned, my children are nearly grown ups (when did that happen!!)....they have both “flown” my nest ...my son is a third year building apprentice and my daughter is at Auckland Uni doing architecture ....as they don’t live with me now I can freely go housesitting as required. I grew up by the beach in Sumner and our family always had house pets and my (now ex-) husband and I brought our children up on a lifestyle block in Ohoka with cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats. So I have looked after and have experience with a wide range of stock/pets (in saying that I am not familiar with riding and the daily care of horses - although I love being around them!). I would feel privileged if you choose to have me as your Housesitter. I am very tidy and am happy to do things the way you wish. I will respect your house and everything in it and will be grateful for you letting me stay in your home. I look forward to hearing from you!!

Hi our names are Maryna and Neil, We are close to retiring and feel it is our time to discover the rest of the South Island in New Zealand and while doing that, do what we enjoy and that is looking after peoples pets and a little gardening while we at it. We immigrated here 11 years ago and have been living in the Catlins ever since so love to explore . As we do not have animals of our own (not by choice) this will also give us a great opportunity to enjoy other people's pets while we are on breaks. We are reliable and trustworthy and are managing a holiday park in the Catlins. This is a 24/7 entity and being in hospitality means we know what is expected from cleanliness and client communication. Neil is a handyman and extremely keen garderner so finds himself very busy most of the time. We both are pet lovers and with previous housesitting experience in London, South Africa and in the Catlins, we have done a lot of dog walking, cuddling cats and even looked after pigs, horses and chickens. We both love fishing and used to take our doggies with us (back in South Africa) so they could have a good run around, and when given the chance they would steal some of our catch! It would be our privilege to help home owners out by looking after their homes and taking care of their pets ( with lots of love) putting their minds at ease. We love to update owners at any time as to how things are going back home. Please feel free to contact our referees and ask any further questions you may want answered.

Hi there, My name is Andrew. I am 63. I am a writer and work remotely. I travel frequently, so I do not have pets of my own - so I absolutely adore the time get to spend looking after other people's pet's. I love all animals, but am especially fond of dogs and cats. Horses, fish, hamsters, rats, hens, goats, sheep and pigs are also my friends. I am not too fond of spiders or creepy crawly type creatures, although I did look after a worm farm once and even enjoyed it. When not on my computer writing or working, I like to go on long walks. I swim, meditate, I love cooking and gardening. As my computer is my mobile office, your pets will have company all day long. I am completely house trained and am an expert in the art of being a guest. I will treat both your home and your beautiful pets with the respect and love they deserve. I would love to housesit your home and look after your treasured pets. I know that upon your return you will be very happy to have chosen me, and I'm sure you will be looking for my telephone number when you are thinking about your next holiday. I do not smoke. I look forward to hearing from you.

I was born in Christchurch. I lived 26 yrs in NZ and now 30+ in California. I go home to NZ once or twice a year. My husband and I have a 8 year old Mini Pinscher that we rescued at 1yr old. He is very active and we walk twice a day. I volunteered for the Golden Retriever rescue for 6 years interviewing adopters, walking the goldens, and picking up very frightened goldens from shelters to bring into our rescue. I have always had a cat, the one before our 3 yr old Ricky was 19 when he passed on. I also grew up with chooks. I am a competent horse rider and will consider looking after most animals. Would love to throw on my gum boots and head out to the paddock to cover a horse or move an animal to another paddock. I am a Scottish country dancer and like to walk, garden and read. I am willing to go anywhere in NZ and would prefer a rural setting. Please note my phone (cell) # can be used while I am in NZ.

Greetings Home and Pet Owners, Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Norman Ronald Mcfadyen. I was born and raised in Northumberland. My father and his ancestors came from the Isle of Mull, my mother’s from Northern Ireland. My accent is hard to place, as I have travelled extensively in my life and have had to learn to modify my accent over the years, to be comprehensible to others. I am a very friendly and gregarious soul, who loves the company of both people and animals. I have worked in mental health for over 30 years; initially, as a psychiatric nurse and later as a mental health clinician and therapist. I have also worked in performing arts for nearly as long, as a professional actor mainly. These days, I combine my love of theatre and education to teach others some successful strategies, to navigate the bumpy paths of life. I do a little bit of homeschool teaching and I am an instructor at the New Zealand Stage and Screen combat school in Birkenhead. I came back home to New Zealand in March 2020, after having lived back in the UK for a couple of years, looking after my father. I came back to Auckland for my son’s wedding and found myself marooned due to the Covid lockdown. My father died shortly after I arrived and therefore I have no need to go back in the UK. My life and living is very flexible as a single man of 54 years of age. I enjoy playing my ukulele and singing every day and have a successful Christmas business, portraying Father Christmas himself. I have had pets all my life, both cats and dogs, when living in my own property. Since being marooned here in 2020, I have missed them dearly. I am not in a position to have my own pets, due to uncertainty going forward. I would be more than delighted to spend my time with your loved ones in the meantime. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Kind Regards, Norman

Hi, my name is Santiago, I'm from Argentina. I am in New Zealand because I am always interested in learning about other cultures, their language, the culinary culture of the place. From a very young age I grew up surrounded by pets and animals of all kinds since I grew up in a small town. Currently I have a cat called "Uma", which I miss a lot, she is in Argentina. I think this way of caring for pets could make my trip easier. I arrived in New Zealand 4 months ago and I have a working holiday visa. Before coming here I was living in Paris. I lived there for almost 7 months, and I had the opportunity to work in a Mexican restaurant called "Acá Pigalle", which is one of the most popular Mexican restaurant in Paris. It is located in the Pigalle neighborhood, a few meters from the Moulin Rouge. I am currently living in Wellington, where I worked as Shift leader at Gorilla Burguer. Also at the moment I'm working as a Chef. On the other hand, I wanted to mention that I am here with my girlfriend, who also has a valid working holiday visa. She has experience in Hospitality and Housekeeping. As I mentioned we are currently living in Wellington but we would like to know some new places like Auckland and all the little cities nearby. Hello, my name is Agustina Bengolea. I’m from Argentina. I arrived in New Zealand 4 months ago and I have a working holiday visa. Before coming here I was living in Paris. I lived there for almost 7 months, and I had the opportunity to work in a Parisian restaurant called "Cojean", which is one of the most popular healthy fast food restaurant. I am currently living in Wellington, where I worked as housekeeper at Boulcott Suits. On the other hand, I wanted to mention that I am here with my boyfriend who also has a valid working holiday visa. As I mentioned we are currently living in Wellington but we would like to know some new places like Auckland and all the little cities nearby. Other thing about me is that I'm a graphic designer and photographer, so I really like to go outdoors and take some photos of the wonderful new zealand's nature. Since I'm a child I've been in contact with animals. I grew up in a farm enviorment, becuase of my father's job, so I took care of different animals and plants my whole life, such as horses, calfs and chickens. And of course I've had got a lot of cats and dogs pets.

We are an active couple in our early 60's. We are home owners and have always had a pet (dogs and cats) until very recently. We spend a good deal of time at home (working from home at least some of the time) so will have plenty of time to spend with your pets. We are quiet, non smokers. We have owned several cats and dogs over the years, notably George, a wonderful Airedale terrier who was with us for 13 years, and Dudley, our British Blue who passed away earlier this year at the grand old age of 19. Mary-Lou grew up on a farm in South Otago, so was raised with animals. Recently she has volunteered for NZ Guide Dogs, helping with the younger dogs at their training centre.

Hello, Alofa Atu My name is Katrina but you can call me Trina. I'm a 43yr old NZ born Niuean, mother of two grown adults who've now left the coop, and I'm based in the BOP region. I'm a Digital Freelancer working from home and I have been currently house sitting for over a year now. I walk dogs on a daily basis if/when required for a doggy daycare owner. I genuinely love what I do, I get plenty of cuddles from pets because I no longer have any of my own in my care and it helps keep me active and it fits around my work/life balance. Growing up I've had four dogs (Sky, Alicia, Bimbo & Oreo) and three cats (Ash, Fifi, and Chino) and cared for rescue dogs throughout my time. I'm a reliable, caring, colourful being with a huge love for kids, pets, travel, hiking, hula and diving. I also enjoy cultural exchange, good food, meeting new folk, all things natural and I appreciate the very simple things in life. I would love to experience more of Aotearoa and while saving to buy a house. In doing so I'd love to make myself available to do something I know and love. I've fed, played and given one on one time to dogs & cats, budgies and reptiles when friends and families have been away. I have a lot of love and nurturing to give. A non smoker/drinker, with a clean record and a full drivers license. I'm an open book so please feel free to make contact. I'd love to have a chat. Monuina e aho nei, have a beautiful day. Trina

Hello I’m a friendly, easygoing retiree who welcomes the opportunity to visit pastures both new and old, near and far. I love being around animals, especially dogs and cats. I view housesitting as a wonderful way to get to know locations in a 'home from home' environment. I am passionate about travel, and the cost saving benefits of looking after other people’s homes are a big plus compared to staying in hotels which I find sterile and impersonal. I am highly responsible, quiet living (definitely not a party animal!) with no bad habits. And I have no medical issues nor take any medication. The simple pleasures suit me best and walking I particularly enjoy. And I love good food, good films, good books and good conversation. I’ve owned four homes over the past 40+ years in New Zealand, most of that time spent on glorious Waiheke Island, population around 9000. Living here is very hands on as we don't have the same amenities as the mainland and, being a resourceful person by nature, there's little that fazes me. For 10 years I lived in a rural location (23 acres, mostly protected bush) which ran totally off the grid. I now live in the more ‘urban’ area of Surfdale. In the past two dogs (RetrieverX and a Spoodle), and a number of cats, have shared my home and heart. So you could be rest assured I would look after your pets and home as my own. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Best, Gillian

Hey! My name is Csaba Koszo. I'm easy-going, married Hungarian man in my 40s with a sense of humor, like a diversified life. I grew up in the town, but we had own farm close to our house. I love animals, mainly mammals and I love houses too, because this is my trade: doing renovations, decking etc. as a self-employer. If something goes wrong with the house, I know what I can do. And I have another business, which works through the Internet. I have been living in Auckland for 7,5 years and I did housesitting 14 times here in NZ (13 times include animals: dogs, cat, bird, fishes). We are Christians, got married in June 2019 and my wife moved to NZ also. Hey! My name is Masha (Maria officially). I was born and grew up in Russia, but now I`m living in New Zealand with my husband. I`m a doctor (surgeon and medical sonographer) and now I am looking forward to confirming my diplomas here in NZ. I love animals, we had two cats at home, while I was growing up. Our common hobbies: many different types of sports, playing with pets, reading and travelling. We are looking forward with anticipation to meet you and your little family members. Greetings :) Csaba and Masha

My name is Kevin, 29, and my girlfriend Arlette, 27, who both have recently moved back to New Zealand after a brief 10 year stint in Europe. We are both working professionals, both recently graduating from our masters at the University of Lisbon in Portugal. Kevin works in Data Analytics and Arlette has just begun a working PhD in Blue Finance. We both have over 20+ years experience with animals, having not only done many privately organized house sits or taken care of pets, but also have had dogs, cats (and horses for a while) our whole lives. We both are physically active and love to go for runs, also with Pets too if preferred. We also love to have a good cuddle in the evenings too for those animals or pets who love to be affectionate. We have dealt with very old, medicated and needy cats and dogs in the past, having lived through the entire lives of our own pets multiple times. In case there are any questions or doubts, Feel free to contact us if you would like any references

Hey, I’m Kerry, 37-year-old female looking for opportunities to house sit around NZ. I’m looking to use this platform to help me save for my own beautiful home. I love animals of all kinds and as a child have always been surrounded by several different breeds of dogs from a Japanese Akita, German Shepard to a Yorkshire terrier and even had cats, rabbits, birds and for a short time a tarantula my brother decided to hide in his room!! I would love the opportunity to help care for your loved ones and home when needed and hopefully make a new fur buddy or two. I’m originally based in Wellington but love to travel and explore NZ as much as I can and have previously house sat for friends and family over the years. I am very respectful of other people homes and possessions and believe in treating them the way I would like my things to be treated, with love and respect. I'm very active and love the outdoors, so would love buddy to go on some adventures with or would equally be happy to have a snuggle buddy whilst reading a book on a rainy day.

Hi, my name is Karen, I am 62 years old, retired and full of energy! I currently reside in Fiji on my sailing yacht, but will be spending all of summer in NZ. Having had a tremendously varied working life, from Veterinary Nursing, Business Owner and Director of Subsurface Fiji (largest scuba diving and watersports company in Fiji) for 18 years, a Wool Classer then Wool Broker, Bayleys Real Estate agent, US Tennis Assn coach, 4 time home owner and mother of 3, I feel well experienced and mature to take care of a home, its contents, and the animals I will be trusted with. I am a communicator, and I truly care for any task I undertake. I am interested in house-sitting, mainly because I miss having a pet in my life, but I also want to explore regions of NZ as possible areas to eventually live in.

Hi there! Thanks for checking our profile! We are Ana and Joao, originally from Brazil, living in New Zealand since 2016. We are a quiet, responsible, and friendly couple in our mid-forties who are able to work remotely. Hence, we have plenty of time and availability to take care of your house and pets. We love all kinds of pets, but we opted for not having any for now. Hence taking care of other people's pets has been our way of spending quality time with our furry friends. While overseas, we've always had pets like dogs, cats, fishes, birds, rabbits, hamsters... and we are great with animals of any size, age and temper. We can look after them following any special care if required. Starting from 2017, we housesat for a few friends in Auckland before moving to New Plymouth in 2021. When New Zealand opened its borders early this year, we stored all our belongings and went overseas for four months to visit our beloved family and friends. When we came back, we decided to keep our belongings stored, and have been enjoying house sitting ever since. So far we've looked after dogs, cats, chickens and even a pig! We have no geographic restriction and can't wait to meet other pets! Back in our home country we have our own houses therefore we also understand how important it is for homeowners to have someone respectful and caring in their homes. That been said, you can be sure that we will take care of your home and pet(s) as if they were ours and follow any request to keep your home tidy, and your pet(s) safe and happy. Cheers!

We have rented for 16 years and have always received excellent references and house inspections. We are now in a position to build and are putting a Tiny Home on our daughter's farm in Winton due to be in place in April/May.. We have travelled extensively but won't travel again due to the risk of Covid We have always treated our rentals as our own homes investing our money in gardens and making sure the sections are immaculate. We also love animals, me having horses as an adult and have our have had our own cat-Wallace, until he passed away. We are looking to take time away from our house for periods of time to look after other people's homes while they holiday. We would be committed to looking after animals and the property as we always have. We are clean living. As we have travelled and now choose not to, it would be nice to give other people the chance while we look after their property and animals. we are a quiet living couple who enjoy each others company. i have just finished 19 years in a Govt department , 16 as a Team Lead and Gary is retired after 40 years in Telecommunications. Before working in the Oublic Service I was L J Hookers Property Manager so i know how important it is to respect someone elses asset and care for it to a high standard.

Hi there Our names are Pam Morris and Paul Weatherburn. We have been together for 33 years and lived in Auckland until recently when we moved to a new home in Blenheim. We have recently retired after owning 12 Health Food Retail stores throughout NZ. Over the past 15 years we have lived on a 10 acre lifestyle block looking after cattle (few), sheep, and alpacas, all of which had names and were treated as pets. We have sold this property and the recent move to Blenheim has been very positive. Over the next few years we intend to travel throughout NZ tramping, biking and generally seeing every part of the country. We love animals and would love to have the opportunity to look after other people's animals while they have a break. We are 66 years old, very active, healthy and totally trustworthy.

Welcome to my profile! I'm Kristy, 25 years old (single) and am moving back to Auckland after a one year sabbatical in Christchurch for professional development. So, thought it would be a good opportunity to do some housesitting, I can try out some different areas to live in, while I have limited belongings or fixed abode. Previous to my sabbatical I had been living in Auckland on the North Shore for 6+ years, and had been head tenant of my 3 flats. I’m open to other areas for a change though! I’m returning to work full time for The Warehouse Group at the end of July, which will keep me pretty busy, but flexible to work from home a few days a week too which will be ideal for furry friends. Outside of work I spend most of my time trying to get outside for a walk, to the gym or dinner with friends. I grew up in rural Whangarei, just North of Auckland, and have experience looking after family pets like dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens and fish. You can be assured I will love your pets as if they are my own, and expect lots of photos!

Kia ora, My name is Ella, I grew up in Wellington with my Mum, Dad, and our beloved pets over the years. Many of my family members, including my brother, live overseas as my Dad is from Scotland and my Mum’s father was as well. I love to travel and am very keen to see more of our beautiful country. I am a digital artist currently building up my own online art business and I love the idea of being able to travel looking after people's homes and pets as I work. Working online also allows me to be there for your pets day or night - making me available for as many cuddles, playtimes and walks as their hearts desire :) I have housesitting, and pet-sitting experience. I love animals and am very comfortable looking after a variety of pets. I also have some experience caring for elderly pets, and those requiring daily medication, so am very willing to prepare and administer medication if need be. I take great care in all that I do and am a very clean, respectful and tidy person who will always leave your home in great condition. I recognise how much our home's mean to us and will put all of my love and care into looking after yours. My hobbies include travelling, art, keeping fit, photography, being out in nature, yoga, movies and spending time with my friends and family. I have spent the last few years travelling, spending time with and caring for family, volunteering, working as a nanny and as a teacher in ECE. Please do have a read through my references and feel free to call one of my referees, or myself, if you have any further questions. I am an active, retired, widowed man, a non drinker, or smoker, and take pride in my appearance, and care for other people's property, and pets, as though they were my own. My interests include, walking, volunteering, gardening, sports. and to enjoy whatever life has to bring me. My reason for house sitting is assist others to have time away from home, and know their animals are cared for and treated as they deserve to be, with much love. My latest experience was with my partner, Daphne Boynes, who is also registered with The Housesitting Company, and was a three week stint at a small farmlet in Te Awamutu, and assisted in the care of a dog, two cats, sheep, and Alpacas. I can offer homeowners trust, respect, and genuine care for their property, and animals, and a high standard of cleanliness in their home when they return.

Hi there! Our names are Christopher and Sally and we are a middle aged 'empty nest' couple with two grown up children making their way in the big wide world. We have lived around the world including 10 years in London, but for the last 20 years in New Zealand. I (Christopher) am a NZ native and my wife Sally is a dual national UK/Australian. In our early life together we were heavily involved in the ski industry, mostly in Switzerland. We continue to stay fit and active and love our walks, so if you have dogs that require walking, we would be delighted! A few years ago we helped with the Guide Dogs for the Blind socialisation programme. We felt this was a worthwhile programme that also gave our children experience in caring for animals. Letting our babies go after 18 months was hard though. Since then we have looked after friend's pets (Dogs, cats, guinea pigs etc) from time to time. Additionally our time as house sitters (11 months) has seen us successfully care for a number of different dog breeds as well as cats and other animals so feel we could cope with most pet related situations. As we are both home for most of the working day, keeping your pets company and maintaining their exercise routines will be a pleasure. Our time in Auckland has been mainly in the Remuera and Meadowbank area which is where our children went to school and many of our friends live. Sally and I are retired and are currently based in Taupo. We have always rented in Auckland and have excellent references from our landlord/owners (please see our attached references for your perusal). Homeowners can be assured that, as with the properties we have rented, their home would be looked after as if it were ours. We are an honest, sensible and trustworthy couple whom will keep your home in a neat and tidy condition and your pets will be well loved and looked after by us. Thank you for taking the time to consider our online profile and we do hope to meet you and your pets soon. Warmest, Christopher and Sally.

Kia Ora, we, that is Kat (42), Andy (42) and our kids Finn (7 and Zoë (5) have immigrated from Germany in 2013 (both kids were born here). We now live in our own house in Rolleston/Christchurch and would be delighted to take care of your loved ones and/or look after your property while you are on holiday, so we can get to know the country and have some time off as well. So far, we have done six house-sits (also through other housesitting websites). Our responsibilities included caring for cats, keeping the garden nice and tidy, and managing an AirBnB while the homeowners were away. While we don't have pets ourselves (except an aquarium); we do love them and like to do stuff whatever is required to keep them happy and entertained. Kat grew up on a farm, so we are 'trained' in lifestyle animals as well. The pets need to be comfortable around kids though. They, in return, are also very gentle to them. We are non-smokers and own a small house ourselves. It goes without saying, that we will take good care of your home while you are away. Having kids, we would be home most of the day and are only out for a few hours, so good for pets that require company. We look forward to getting to know you through a Skype interview and vice versa. Cheers, Kat, Andy, Finn & Zoë

Hi, We are Chris and Chrissy Arnold and we have moved to the South Island from Sunny Hawke's Bay. I am a Librarian and Chris is a Gardener. We love NZ and look forward to travelling and discovering some new areas. We have owned two gorgeous Golden Retrievers and some wonderful cats. We love caring for animals. We have really enjoyed our housesitting experiences. It is so much fun staying in different communities and caring for much loved animals, people's homes and gardens. We will be respectful of our surroundings and keep it very clean and cared for. We are super security conscious. We are both keen gardeners, so will take great care of the gardens. We love animals, so will really enjoy looking after them. We love to walk and swim, so will happily take your dogs with us each day. We are responsible and respectful people who want to help out families by looking after their property and pets while they are away. We are also very friendly and trustworthy and your pets will enjoy our company just as much as we will enjoy theirs. We would love to meet you and your pets and hope that you will consider us as your housesitters. Chris and Chrissy Arnold

I am a girl who loves animals, owner of three cats and a dog. I am going to live in New Zealand for a year to get to know the country, its culture and to be able to speak English perfectly, and I would like to be able to do it taking care of animals. I am responsible and calm. In Spain I live alone so I am used to taking care of a house. I will take care of your pet as if it were mine, dedicating my time and affection.

When you go away you want to have peace of mind that your fur babies are going to be cared for and looked after. You want to know they getting the fun and nurturing that they are used to. You want to feel at ease and confident they are being well looked after. Not only that, but when you get home, you want to walk in the door and see everything clean and tidy, and just how you left it. With happy, relaxed pets waiting for your return. Hi, I'm Mike, I run my own online business which allows me to work from home. With my partner in Rotorua, family and business partner in Nelson, and a strong network in Auckland, I like to base myself in those locations for a few months at a time. I've grown up with animals and actually went to university to become a vet because of this. However, I decided to do business instead and spend time with animals rather than working with them full-time. I've also recently been looking to adopt a dog, but due to only being in the one place for a few months at a time, I felt it wasn't the right environment for one. Having looked after a number of houses and pets now, it has given me a particular level of respect for other people's properties and extended pet family members. I treat them as if they are my own. I like to give them heaps of love and attention. I've also found home owners who have trusted me to sit for them have appreciated the updates and photos of the adventures, me and the pets get up to. Homeowners can expect a tidy, responsible and loving person to look after their house and fury friends. With ex army experience, I am rather tidy and also enjoy exercise. This is also shown in my 100% positive reviews. I'm pretty happy that all my housesits so far have requested for me to comeback. I'm pretty practical and am comfortable around most animals. If your dog is good on a leash then I'll be able to take them for morning runs with me too. I can be around the house regularly due to the nature of my online business and enjoy my own space,so there are no worries about misuse of the house. I'm also friendly and can communicate well. If you're happy to provide use of a vehicle then I'll also be happy to take your dog out to the beaches for runs as I love to get out to nature when possible. This is not a requirement, but some owners have their cars set up for the fur babies and the associated sand/fur :-) I'm happy to meet via video chat or phone, or if we are in the same location then I'm happy to meet in person too. I know how important it can be to ensure you're comfortable with the person looking after your most prized possessions and animals. Look forward to talking soon. Mike.

My name is Jackie and I am a 50yr old single lady with a beloved cat who is no ordinary feline - he chose me and he is now 19yrs old and has won the hearts of all who meet him, even those who are not fond of cats. He is discerning, talkative, small built but with a big personality. His name is Petros aka Petroski or Troski. As for me, I have done multiple housesits overseas and New Zealand. I've had a sea-change in life in the last couple of years, so my days are filled with working in jobs and volunteer roles that fill the soul not just the pocket (see work experience for details). I love people but am an introvert and enjoy the company of an animal just waiting for some focussed attention. I enjoy the thought that housesitting is mutually beneficially for both parties. I love to meet new people and get out of my comfort zone, seeing the places people call home (that includes the surrounding areas) and the animals they adore which allows me to see life from a richer perspective. I am very detailed, conscientious, tidy and organised. I always take my shoes off at home and try to leave an invisible footprint. I'm gentle, quiet and aim to leave a home in the way I left it. Some house owners have mentioned that I left their home in a better state than when they left it! It would be a pleasure to meet you and care for your animals to make their holiday away from you a contented one.

Hi there! I’m a friendly 40 year old, independent, responsible gal from southern New Zealand. After growing up on farms I enjoyed a successful corporate career and now enjoy a balanced lifestyle of working for myself and travelling. Gardening, playing guitar and ukulele, meeting new people, drinking good coffee and relaxing outdoors keep me entertained. I take pride in being a considerate guest in your home. I love animals of shapes and sizes due to my rural upbringing and hope to immerse myself in your community. I’m also an avid gardener so tending lawns, houseplants and vege patches would also be my pleasure!

I am originally from Scotland but my home now is in New Zealand. I am a mature thirty-five years old, with an honors degree from Edinburgh University in Photography, Film, and Imaging. My area of expertise within photography is children and animals. I am a trained Life Coach and Trauma Therapist. I have embraced a work ethic that allows me to run my business wherever I go which means when I house sit I am home for ample time, making sure the house and animals will be well attended to. From past training, I have accomplished Risk Management, Fire Safety, and First Aid allowing me to use tools, initiative as well as intuition as new situations arise. I have traveled worldwide and have been house and pet sitting since I was eighteen. My most memorable house sit to date was in Costa Rica, caring for Monkeys, Cockatoo's, Dogs, Cats, Horses, and Fish in a tropical environment, living simply and embracing potent thunderstorms. I merged my love for diversity and travel, becoming an Au-Pair in New Zealand, Australia, South America, and the UK. I have managed several wealthy households, young children, and family animals for over nine years. I love connecting with animals and often feel I speak their language. I am gentle, empathic, energetic, adaptable, and caring. While you are away, you can be assured I will love them as if they were my own, attending to their needs with diligence. In regards to caring for the home, I am organized, clean, tidy, and bring unwavering respect to my environment wherever I am fortunate enough to travel. I look forward to connecting with you soon and hearing about where you are adventuring to, given you need a house sitter at this time. Great things never come from comfort zones.

Michael and I are an older, kiwi couple who own and manage a quality, short-stay accommodation business in Auckland. We also own and operate an art gallery called Mobile Art. We're clean, tidy, respectful people who have raised a family and know how to keep a house in good working order. Michael grew up on a dairy farm and is comfortable caring for all livestock. He even helped run the neighbours piggery when he was 12. The family always had pet cats and working dogs and of course chickens. I grew up in the city and we always had a pet cat along with budgies and rabbits. Michael and I have had many cats and dogs over the years while raising our children, and though we have none of our own at this stage in our lives, we're always very happy to look after someone else's pets while they take a break. We mostly work from home and will keep your pet company during the day and through the night. As landlords ourselves, we understand how important it is to find people who will take the same great care of your animals and your property that you do. Michael and Diana

My name is Christine. I am energetic and enthusiastic. I’m a real early bird, and love to get out walking in the morning, even better with a dog. I have looked after pets all my life. I am a regular dog-sitter around my town. I look after my neighbour's cat when they are away. I feed and walk a number of my neighbours' dogs when asked. I have cared for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, fish, pet lambs and chickens. Having had such extensive experience with pets, I am well prepared to care for yours. I have a lot to offer as a house-sitter. I am mature, responsible, and I will love and take good care of your pets and home. I would love to be your next house-sitter.

Hi! I’m Mirella, a Finnish traveller currently living in Auckland. In January I’ll be moving down to Queenstown. I’m a previous dog owner (poodle), and I’ve taken care of my boyfriend’s cat back home in Finland as well, so I know how to care for both dogs and cats. I miss having my own pet, so I would love to get some furry company. I will definitely take care of your baby/babies like they were my own. :) I’m tidy and organised, trustworthy & very respectful of other’s property. I have an active lifestyle, so taking dogs for walks/jogs or playing with cats is something I really enjoy doing. I’ll gladly take care of some garden or general house maintenance as well. Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or requests you might have. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hello and thanks for reading our profile. My husband and I are responsible, work…
Hello and thanks for reading our profile. My husband and I are responsible, working professionals with a responsible 14 year old son. We live in our own home in Wellington. We enjoy holidaying in different parts of NZ and have previously hired, swapped, and sat houses, all to good effect. We appreciate the comforts of a house over those offered by a hotel or campground! We also bring experience at house sitting, caring for pets and gardens (we enjoy growing veggies, herbs and flowers). Until recently we shared a dog (border terrier) with my in-laws, as they had a larger fenced section and being retired are around home more often. However, they have now moved to a rest home, so we re-homed the dog with a family friend. We enjoyed our time with Rhona very much and appreciate the confidence our son now has around dogs. Currently, our pets are restricted to a 70 litre fish tank with tropical fish that our son Ricardo is proud of and looks after daily. Limited space and frequent holidays mean that we now enjoy other people's pets. My husband and I grew up with animals and pets, so are experienced, confident and caring with animals.I come from Argentina, where my parents owned a big farm (Estancia in Spanish) and they had cows and horses and of course cats and dogs. Horses were a part of the everyday farm management, not just a pet. Paul comes from Switzerland but grew up in Whanganui where his parents owned a lifestyle block. He grew up feeding the chicken, the cows and the horses, fixing fences and helping the parents with the produce (there was always fruits and veggies to be cared for and processed afterwards) or working during the holidays at a neighbour's farm. Paul has also 'farm sat', caring for commercial ventures in both New Zealand and Switzerland while the owners took much needed holidays. In addition to owning a home, we own a number of rental properties and manage these ourselves. This gives us a good understanding of the risks involved of allowing other people to live in our properties and the care that we would like others to take. Our profile includes a number of references from homeowners whose houses we sat. Further, with a little Googling, looking at LinkedIn or discussions you might even find contacts in common (as recently happened for our Auckland home stay). After all, NZ is a small place.

We are both retired and visit New Zealand every year to see our family who are based in Christchurch. We are home- owners in the UK and have a 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback so we are familiar with caring for pets. We have had experience of housesitting in London and Christchurch and are familiar with housesits for both cats and dogs. We are both from professional working careers. Pauline was a school teacher and volunteer magistrate and I was a company director and volunteer business mentor. We both possess common sense, good communication skills and are active. We have completed three housesits in Christchurch all with good references.
