I am a 64 year old IT professional for many large companies, most recently Westpac, Datacom, ASB and Tower. I have owned and taken care of my own properties for most of my life. I am weks away from retirement and keen to be more upwardly mobile. I love pets and have had a lifelong interest looking after various animals, especially dogs and cats, having grown up with them, in my family. My friends have often requested me to house-sit their pets and homes, on their travels abroad. As a kid, I also spent every summer on my uncles dairy farm with 6 cats, most of whom used to take up room on my bed. I’m a retired pet lover but because I often go to Auckland to visit family I can’t have a pet of my own. Because I am often in Auckland I could possibly be available for in person interviews for Auckland sits. I grew up in Auckland but have lived in Opotiki for 18 years and love it here. I don’t live in the township but in the very small beach suburb of Tirohanga, only one house back from the beach. There are 30 houses/baches and about half of them are holiday homes. Of the other half at least 40% are occupied by retired people. Lots of them have pets and I fill my animal craving by frequently visiting them. I’m even lucky enough to have a nearly daily visit from my neighbours cat, “Smoke” I can’t see the beach but at night I can hear the waves crashing. I’m physically fit and as I live near a beautiful beach I walk on the beach or cycle track daily. I do 20 to 40 minutes with the occasional 60 minutes thrown in for good luck. I love to read and play board or card games, especially word games. I’m enjoying my retirement but feel like I need to stretch myself a little and house sitting will do that. I am a professional, mature and extremely clean and tidy person. Due to the drop in work for my business over the last 3 years, I have had to be flexible in the work I do. I have been a carer and a live-in carer. I have worked as a cleaner and a gardener. Currently I am recovering from surgery for the removal of my gallbladder but am well on the road to recovery. I am pretty much back to normal. I have always had pets (cats & dogs), since I was a teenager and have also fostered for the SPCA. My partner and I split up 3 years ago and she took my 3 cats with her. It has been hard no having any pets as my current landlord will not allow it? I have had a great deal of experience in giving medication to pets and I find it very rewarding when they recovered from any illness as a result. Having been brought up well by my mother and from my cleaning jobs, I can offer respect for the homes that I will be sitting in. I am also very security conscious. I can get references if required. As you will see from my photos, I am very much a cat/dog person, and I find myself spending more time with them than I do with humans? Maybe I should have been born as a cat or a dog? With Xmas just around the corner, I just want to say that I am available for that period, from anytime in December to anytime in January.

Newly retired Grew up on a farm so was used to (3)dogs from a very young age and we had a cat too. We had 150 cows a few sheep and 40 odd chocks as well. My grandmother supplied the local shop and she also keeps bees! My main interests are modern history and modern architecture and vintage engineering (cars aircraft trains and radios). Sold house in Takapuna and given away almost all my possessions. Intend to travel for the next 8 or 9 years including spending time with my wife in Melbourne. Just spending this summer 2025 here and looking at travelling in NZ, staying in campgrounds etc in my old Toyota. Have house sat for friends and relatives in the past. Looked after my cousins house in England in 2024 for a month while he was in NZ. I was a landlord for 20 years so know how to take care of other peoples houses. 1) I love spending time in areas of New Zealand away from the main cities. I am happiest when at home in cared for surroundings, and when caring from my surroundings. I have been a keen gardener all my life (always pottering!), I understand plants well and happily assist in other people's gardens. My work as a lecturer means I do a lot of work from home, and online. This allows me to be flexible with regards to my location. I thrive in quiet surroundings with nature, animals and birds around me. 2) I grew up around animals (a great variety!), and have always had them in my life. People comment that their pets are calm in my presence and they often seek to have contact with me. My father's family were originally farmers in Southland. In my childhood, we often had family holidays on farms and I am very comfortable around farm animals. Daily walks (and gentle jogs) are part of my health and lifestyle routine, wherever I happen to be living. I love walking with dogs as company and I previously owned two dogs when I was younger. I currently care for my neighbour's cat, which seems to have adopted my house for his daily naps. 3) People often miss their homes when they are away, and I would take pride in ensuring that their home (and garden) is in perfect condition when they return, and their pets are happy and healthy. I am a home owner myself (and a landlord), and I know quite a lot about the upkeep of a home and a property. I am able to use home appliances and garden maintenance tools confidently.

Hi, my name is Tammy. ***Recent update*** I am currently studying a Certificate in Animal Management - Canine Behaviour and Training at Unitec in Auckland. It is a yearlong course exploring dog behaviour and welfare. It’s partly online, partly in person and consists of work experience in shelters, doggie daycares and one-on-one sessions with dog trainers. Prior to studying, I have been a freelance copywriter working in the advertising industry for over 20 years. When contracting, I work from home, but occasionally need to be in the office for meetings. So while house sitting, I can be with your pets during the day as much as possible. I have previously lived in Sydney and came back to NZ in 2016. Since then I've worked in both Auckland and Wellington and spent a lot of time in Taranaki, which is where I grew up. I am happy to travel around, my base is between Taranaki and Auckland for now, but it's easy for me to travel to where your pets are if the timing works out. I have been house sitting now for over 4 years, and this actually led me to pursue potentially changing careers to be a dog trainer (or wherever my course may take me). I have volunteered at the SPCA, working with and managing rescues – both dogs and cats. I have had work experience at doggie day cares coming across all types of dogs; big, small, young, old, boisterous and fiercely independent. And have been fortunate enough to shadow a well-established dog trainer who works with animals and owners one-one-one to teach new behaviours for a better adjusted family dog. I am familiar with giving Ventolin through a spacer and oral medication for dogs, eye drops, supplements and any type of medication needed – most recently giving an elderly cat an insulin injection for diabetes twice a day. If you take me on as a house sitter I will always respect your space and personal belongings and I'll always do my best for you and your pets. Our reasons for wanting to house sit are two fold. 1) For opportunities to stay in or near Auckland for longer term visits to see our family who we really miss and 2) We absolutely love exploring our beautiful country, but as living costs increase it's becoming harder and harder to have holidays away. We usually stay in air bnbs, but house sitting would help us out immensely. We are home owners in Wanganui and we have also extensively used air bnbs to take our girls on mini breaks away. All our reviews from staying in different homes have been A+. We also personally keep a very tidy, organised, clean home in Wanganui. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently one cat), we love animals and plan to one day foster or rescue a dog! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. We have had many adventures including walking the backcountry several times, but with age feel it's time to hang up the tramping boots and concentrate on more urban areas. Now we have a classic car and enjoy driving with other enthusiasts exploring some back roads on rallies and displaying the vehicle at car shows. We don't have a pet of our own as it would be unfair to leave them at home alone while we travel and so get our fix interacting with other peoples pets. In the past we have experienced house sitting, mostly friends or friends of friends, who have precious fur babies who they couldn't bear to put into kennels/catteries due to an earlier bad experience or being elderly and needing extra care. Being house owners ourselves we understand the need to keep the house and section to the same standard as it was left. We are both physically fit and have no problem if your dog loves long walks.

I am a very fit and active retiree. I left the workforce eight years ago to travel to various parts of the world, including some of NZ which I hadn’t yet been to. I have been involved in sport all my life and interested in organics and sustainabilities for many years, so decided to become a Woofer (Willing Worker On Organic Farms). I have thoroughly enjoyed all my placements in NZ, Australia, USA and Portugal. I have visited places and met people that I would never had the chance as a tourist and learnt about growing fruits, vegetables and raising animals in an totally organic and sustainable manner. I have looked after many animals and learnt how to give back to the land for future harvests. Six years ago in 2018 I bought a lifestyle property in the Far North, so have not been able to travel as much, or house sit as I used to, while working hard on my land. Now however I have more spare time, & look forward to being able to travel in NZ. I currently work on my orchard of 100+ trees of every description imaginable, & 4 large vegetable plots. I farm totally organically, eat in season, & am self sufficient(++) with fruit, vegetables & eggs from my 5 chickens. I am able to swap my excesses for milk, meat, cheese & bread! I feel very fortunate. I also have extra acreage which I use for growing grass, (local farmer makes hay in summer). I have also done two caminos (long walks) in both France, and Portugal into Spain. These were 750 and 700km respectively, in 2014 & 2017. My most recent was from Lisbon, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I have been a proud homeowner since 1980. As a house sitter, you will have someone with old fashion values of care & respect for your property, a good work ethic, totally reliable & honest. As for pets, when my children were growing up, we had a Staffordshire bull terrier, rabbits, cats, cockatiel and baby goats. Currently I have 5 chickens. While woofing I have looked after lots of dogs, cats, goats (learnt to milk), chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, and loved all those times. My woofing hosts would sometimes leave me to house sit at weekends, or in one case, for 10 days when an unavoidable event happened. On that occasion I looked after a small farmlet of goats, cows chickens, vegetable garden, orchard....the entire property. I loved the challenge and was totally equal to the task of overall management. I love outdoors work. Obviously I enjoy walking, so dogs love me for their twice daily long walks. Life is one big adventure! I like to be kept busy; I love to travel, discovering out of the way places, meeting new people & embracing life. But my family pets have always been a top priority. House sitting offers some exciting opportunities, but more specifically it will provide me with the pleasures of 'adopting' your family pets, if only for a short time. (And, I certainly miss not having my own pet to care for). There has always been a cat or dog (or both) in the house and then there have been the children's tropical fish, German rat, guinea pigs, rabbits, and birds! We've even had a couple of cats 'adopt' us! I also volunteered for 18 months at a bird rescue centre a few years ago which was a very rewarding experience. From a young age until her early 20s, I also used to spend a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm where they had a dairy herd, goats and a chicken run. Animals have always featured in my life. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful House & pet sitting opportunities over the past 3 years (with a global house sitting company) looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds - most of these sits were while I was based in the UK. I recently retired ten years ago after 30 years owning and operating a successful film company in Auckland. I specialised in filming pet food TV commercials where I developed a knack for patience and perseverance to relax animals in order to get those magic natural shots that pet owners love. Everyone's pets are different and require careful handling, especially when their owners are away for a week or two. I try to create a seamless transition to avoid any unnecessary disruption to their routine. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish (also lamas and even rats) - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. We are an active, fit, retired couple who, because we live in the city have no pets of our own. I am farm raised and have worked with animals all my life until I retired. In the past I have bred Boxers. We are both experienced sitters and have been looking after the pets of others for several years. We have spent a month in UK doing two successful 10-day dog sits for both of which we received 5-star reviews. We have also done several pet sits in Australia and New Zealand. As a teenager I was a foreign exchange student, and as a college student I resided in girls residencies, so I could say I've had practice in terms of following people's household rules. It's not a problem for me to adjust to the needs a family, house and pets might have under my watch. I have no doubt I could care for your home as if it were my own with the gratitude of being able to reside in it. I'm extremely clean and organized, and make the place around me to fit that criteria. You can count on having your house cared after as if you would be there. When it comes to pets, I'm a pet lover, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and I've been through many situations with them, including hospitalization and short term treatment medication, so I consider myself to be able to respond correctly in case of emergency, I'm knowledgable in dog behaviors and could catch anything out of the ordinary and report it to you for your peace of mind. My dogs are under an organic meal routine so I meal prep for them, and walk them 60 to 90 minutes per day, so I'm use to following a routine for them. Cats on the other hand are more independent so they just play in our backyard or sleep. I've had pets since I was a child so I feel it just comes natural to me to care for them. I think of my pet as my own children therefore the love and respect I have for them is as if they were human beings. You can be certain that your pets will be taken care of with love and respect. I'm currently housesitting my sister's house and her dog Leon, a 4-year old moodle. Among other experiences: In march I housesat my sister’s friend house in the Gold Coast for a week, caring for the house and her dog Cruiser, a 7-years old American bully. I have housesat my uncle's house two summers when he would go on vacation, caring for the house and Chuni and Chunita, his 2 pitbulls. I have also housesat my former in-laws house and their dog, 2 summers ago, Neri a 4 year-old Schnautzer, and Charlie a 2 year-old dachshund. I have been the proud owner of 5 rescue Old English Sheepdogs.. not all at the same time !!!! so I know about grooming. My last dog Boomer was 116lbs, (52.5kg) a big strong boy and the light of our lives. In 2020 we started to foster dogs brought up from Texas from the "high kill" pounds. Copper was our first, A Walker Coon Hound... never heard of them before and what a delight with his howl. I will leave your home as you left it though I do enjoy gardening and cleaning windows... My hobbies are reading, walking, knitting and TV..... I am a friendly person. get on with most people, I am the listener not the talker... We both are pet lovers and with previous housesitting experience in London, South Africa and in the Catlins, we have done a lot of dog walking, cuddling cats and even looked after pigs, horses and chickens. We both love fishing and used to take our doggies with us (back in South Africa) so they could have a good run around, and when given the chance they would steal some of our catch! My aim is to enjoy my retirement by experiencing new places and meeting new people. House sitting is a wonderful way to achieve the above in a win-win situation. I love the animals and the outdoors. I am a retired GP and I know how precious life is. I used to have cats and dogs and a couple of turtles when I was younger and I loved them dearly. I remember a pair of Doberman puppies, Linda and Max. I "saved" them from their mother who had too many babies to be able to feed them properly. They were 5 days old and I bottle fed them and looked after them until they were 4-5 months old. Linda went to another owner and I wanted to keep Max, but alas, one day he disappeared from my parents' well fenced garden. Then I had Jimmy (it was during Jimmy Carter's time). I found him on the street. He was a naughty boy and used to ruin everything around the house including our neighbors' washings and other belongings. He was adopted by a family who lived in the country side. A cat I found on the steps in front of my apartment, a couple of turtles that grew up nicely in our flat. When I bought a village house with a big garden about 4 years ago, it came with Athos, a Romanian shepherd dog who had established his headquarters on this property. Nobody knew exactly how old he was. They only knew that he was left behind by his flock more than 16 years ago (see photo). And now a bit more about myself as your house sitter. I will keep your house tidy and clean, I like to be punctual and keep my word, I am open and friendly. Other hobbies that I might entertain while house sitting beside looking after your pets could be reading, handcraft, learning Japanese, walking and gardening as needed. I have had pets all my life (cats, fish, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, chooks, a dog, and bees), but am currently pet-less due to some life changes. I now live an hour north of Auckland which means I sometimes need to seek overnight stays in the city and have built up a bit of house/cat/plant and garden-sitting experience within my friend circle. I also fostered cats through the SPCA for a while, many of which had socialisation and/or medical requirements. I speak fluent 'cat' (have been called a cat whisperer before, haha) - not as fluent in 'dog' admittedly, but happy to look after well-behaved dogs and generally have enormous love for all animals. I will be working during weekday hours, sometimes from home and sometimes away from home, so only morning and/or evening walkies would have to suffice for dogs. We are genuine animal lovers and have had our own pets, mostly rescue dogs, for all of that time. Also, as our sons were growing up - a cockatiel, a black-hooded rat, and 2 goldfish! We have also looked after a neighbour's diabetic cat when they were frequently away, including giving daily insulin injections and special diabetic food requirements. After our last elderly dog passed away 8 years ago, we really missed having a dog in our home, so became approved volunteer puppy boarders for Blind/Low Vision puppies, and have really enjoyed providing this service. As we have friends and family in Christchurch and various parts of the North Island, we would love to house sit when we travel to those areas, as well as when we explore new areas that we haven't yet been to. We are both writers, working in the tourism sector, and we met in beautiful Bali where we have been living since 1998 and 2006. We have travelled extensively in Indonesia, including trips to some of the country's remotest corners. We have been together for 15 years, we got married in New Zealand in 2021, and we are now living our dream dividing our time between Bali and New Zealand with a little bit of England and Europe thrown in along the way. We spend five months in Bali each year, one month in Europe and the UK, and six months in New Zealand from December to June. We invite guests to stay in our house in Bali and do home exchanges when we are in New Zealand and Europe, hence us looking for some more places to stay in New Zealand. We are both animal lovers, having rescued numerous cats and dogs off the streets in Bali over the many years that we have lived here. They all became much loved members of our respective households until our last cat and finally our last dog crossed the rainbow bridge a few years ago. We miss them terribly but when we made the lifestyle change to divide our time between Bali and New Zealand, we made the decision not to get any more pets. However, our love and respect for animals has not diminished and that is why we look forward to looking after other people's pets. We both work from home so will be around nearly all day every day to give your animals all the love and attention they need. What you will get with us is two very caring, professional, respectful people who understand the need for absolute trust on both sides when looking after other people’s cherished homes and beloved pets. For the past 15 years, I've lived in Rarotonga, where I ran my own successful business, The Mooring Fish Cafe. Having recently retired (mid-2024), I'm ready to embark on new adventures. I'm active, enjoying daily walks, boxing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends. Your pets will never be lonely with me around! Two weeks 2014. Other times in Auckland, while a friend visited UK, collected mail, fed cat, clean house, water plants, this lasted five weeks. At present restoring a colonial house in Leigh area, caring for cats, little goats, chickens and a dog, since then work has stopped. My latest Housesit was in Western Springs for ten days, the ginger cat Lucy had a stroke so needed a lot of care. Lucy loved to sleep on the bed with me, I loved having her close. The other cat Diesel was more independent. My other duties were watering the garden and collecting the mail. Also over the Xmas new year period I went to houses with sole purpose of feeding, patting and caring for four different cats. Also specialise in turtle minding, feeding for my son and his girlfriend. I am an animal lover who is kind and considerate who will care for your pets and house with love. Life can get pretty busy, so in our spare time we enjoy winding down with a good movie, board games and exploring new cultures and flavours — especially when there’s good coffee and a nice bakery involved hehe. Israel has been in New Zealand for 12 years and runs his own painting and property washing business. Growing up, my family had a Samoyed dog and two cats. My father was also the local dog walker and I often walked the dogs as well. When I was a stay at home mum,I developed a reputation for being a foster mother for many animals. I have adopted bunnies, guinea pigs and 8 hens from friends who could no longer care for their animals. On top of this, I transformed our 1/4 acre section into a stunning garden and started a tutoring business. When friends went away,I would care for their animals either at their homes or at my home. Once I looked after a rabbit that needed daily injections for eight weeks . Currently, I am a house owner and I have a rental property in Auckland.I also teach full-time at a girls school and am responsible for the learning support department. With the goal of one day retiring outside of Auckland I would love an opportunity to look after someone else’s home and animals and explore other parts of the country. I am in my happy place with animals and nature and I am very fit, energetic and reliable. I enjoy road cycling, walking, yoga and swimming. My day typically starts at 5.30 am with a walk before work and finishes with another walk and sometimes yoga. At weekends, I cycle regularly 50 -70 kms for leisure. Hi there. I'm a very sensible (but not boring!) 44 year old. My reason for house sitting is largely a financial one. Business is tough out there at the moment and my partner and I foresee a tough winter ahead. We currently live in Freemans Bay but we've chosen to give up our place in a few weeks time to navigate the winter in tact. My partner is moving in with her parents, I'd rather not burden my recently retired parents with my presence (all be it a welcome one) so I think the house sitting endeavour sounds a perfect alternative. We have a little Maltese dog ourselves named Freddie, he's a top bloke, I love dogs (he'll live with my partner). Had family cats as a young lad so I'm very pet friendly. Have looked after chooks and birds in Australia in the past when I lived in Melbourne. I managed to save the chooks from a not so friendly Tiger Snake that rocked up one day - yes it scared the hell out of me but look at the commitment! From me a home owner can expect a clean well looked after home just the way you left it, as well as a happy and well loved pet to return to. Outside of work hours I might sneak off for an occasional round of golf at Maungakiekie Golf club where I'm a member. I work mostly from home as business development manager for an events styling company. My children and I lived on a 10 acre block in Waimauku for several years and cared for a variety of animals including cats, dogs, hens, sheep, cows, and the occasional rabbit and duck! Because of Geoff's years spent at sea his opportunities to care for pets have been limited, but in his younger years his family owned cats, dogs and budgies. Geoff and I spend the summer months,October through to April, in New Zealand, which is when we are available for house sitting. We have a yacht berthed in Penang, Malaysia, and we are there during New Zealand's winter months. Geoff has spent nearly 13 years cruising in South East Asia, and I joined him in 2012. Geoff is a shipwright and is capable of servicing a wide range of appliances, machinery etc.He served in the New Zealand navy for 8 years and after leaving he worked as a commercial diver whilst building his first yacht. After sailing for many years in the Pacific, Australia, Africa and Europe, he settled in Brisbane, where he set up his shipwright business. He then built his second yacht and set sail for South East Asia. My previous working life involved a variety of positions, including working as a supervisor in a childcare centre in Waimauku, Auckland, and then as a sterile services technician at North Shore hospital in Auckland. I have two sons who live in the Netherlands and Belgium, and 1 grandson. Because of our lifestyle on the yacht we are organised and tidy in our habits. We enjoy exploring new environments, so house sitting promises to be a great way to meet new people, have some much-needed interaction with animals again, and reunite us with different parts of our country after being away for so many years. Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a 42 year old woman who has been going through cancer treatment this year, thankfully with a positive outcome. I have worked in Education as either and English teacher, a relief teacher and/or tutor for 16 years, and started studying towards becoming a counsellor in 2022. I also have a nearly 21 year old daughter who I raised as a solo mum. I am intending to housesit as I move forward from a challenging year, hopefully to have enjoyable experiences in new places and step outside my comfort zone, and I also hope to save money for travel and for the future. I have had pets since I was a child. We always had cats in our family which have included a girl called cuddles one of her kittens, Garfield, as sweet girl called patch who was white with a couple of black patches and a black tail, and two girls, Mocca, and Cino, the latter who has been my my comfort and support while going through cancer treatment. My daughter and I also had our own cat who found us, who was the biggest smooch, I have known who I miss terribly. My family, growing up also had a golden retriever called, Zoe, and a budgie called Moses, and my daughter and I also had our own budgie called Mika, and we had a couple of fish called Bubbles and Scales when my daughter was younger. Hopefully, this gives you an idea that I have plenty of experiences looking after pets! I have had one experience of housesitting, which was early this year, looking after two male labradoodle puppies, and two cats while the family were overseas for three weeks. There was an issue with the puppies, which I resolved and the couple were thankful for how things were handled. I looked after their greenhouse during this period which required a lot of care. I see being able to live in and look after someone's home as privilege and would endeavour to care for the property how I would wish someone to look after my own. I think a discussion about expectations of what is important to the family is in an important part of that, so that if there are any particular needs or concerns that is clear from the beginning, especially if pets are being looked after. Pets are part of the family, so I would treat them with the love and care they deserve, just like I would with my own.

We’ve lived with animals our whole lives (Cats - Theo, Trevor, Molly), owned 3 rabbits ( Cosmo, Blindy, Tricks) and we both grew up raising chickens in residential homes. Will has also worked at Auckland Zoo, where he did landscaping/gardening in and out of the animal enclosures, so I would say he has more experience around exotic animals than me. At 32 years old, I have immersed myself in the rewarding world of pet and house sitting full-time since May 2023. During this time, I have had the pleasure of caring for a variety of pets, including dogs of both older and younger ages. We are a responsible, long term, married, retired couple. With more free time at our disposal house sitting becomes an attractive way to be useful to others as well as offering new experiences for us. We have travelled internationally for both business and family overseas, as well as extensively throughout New Zealand, and having lived long spells in Wellington, Auckland and now retired to Bay of Plenty. With the family overseas, often our time away has been for up to 3 months, and on those occasions we have had friends and others staying at our home. We know what it is like to make your home available to others who you are familiar with and some who you are not but still have that small apprehension about whether it will be ok. We know how you are feeling making this commitment. We have been long term dog and cat owners, and currently regularly play house parents to a friend's dog. Walking and appropriate exercise is not a problem. Other friends also call on us to house sit and mind their precious moggy, often for longer periods. With golf being a sport that we both enjoy, the opportunity to play courses in your region is an added appeal for house sitting. but also assures you that we are fit and able to walk as far as your pets need. Choosing us to look after your house and pets will give maximum assurance that all will be well cared for, and treated as if they were our own. Go on your holiday and relax and enjoy in the knowledge that everything at home is being well cared for. When we sit for you, your home and pets are our primary concern. We travel specifically for your sit, and make any of our other arrangements fit around the primary focus, which is you. We like to make plans in advance, often months ahead, we only travel by car not campervan, our planning giving you surety of a great sitter and also the knowledge that your sit is sorted. This allows you to focus on all the other good things about going on holiday, and us to sit for other owners as schedules allow.

I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. My main past times are gardening, riding my electric bike, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years I've had numerous significant pets. My first was a calf that I cared for and trained. Because of my fondness for her, my Father kept her until I was seventeen when I went to the Waikato to qualify as a Nurse. Another pet I was particularly fond of was a canary, which sang beautifully and I called him Gusto. Unfortunately, he died during covid. More recently I had a stray cat that determinedly made herself home with me. Pets are great companions and I appreciate them very much. I began house-sitting before retirement, and have cared for cats and dogs, plus a few sheep and a donkey. These situations have been for family, friends, and acquaintances for periods of almost a week to a month.

I was born in Christchurch. I lived 26 yrs in NZ and now 40+ in California. I go home to NZ once or twice a year. I have just said goodby to my 15 year old Mini Pinscher that I rescued at 1yr old. He was very active and we walked twice a day. I volunteered for the Golden Retriever rescue for 6 years interviewing adopters, walking the goldens, and picking up very frightened golden's from shelters to bring into our rescue. I have always had a cat, the biggest love of them was 19 when he passed on. I have a 5 yr old rescue black cat. I also grew up with chooks. I am a competent horse rider and will consider looking after most animals. Would love to throw on my gum boots and head out to the paddock to cover a horse or move an animal to another paddock. I am a Scottish country dancer and like to walk, garden, read and knit. I am willing to go anywhere in NZ and would prefer a rural setting. Kia ora, we are Rosie and Taz. We have lived in New Zealand since winter of 2022 and have been professionally housesitting for the last 18 months. Rosie's father is from NZ and Taz has extended family who emigrated here many years ago. We plan to make our long term home in New Zealand. We also have lots of experience housesitting for friends and family be it an overnight stay or multiple weeks of sitting. We started housesitting as an option from living and travelling in our van around NZ but now have our own tiny home in Whangarei. We see housesitting as a great opportunity to explore NZ further and make some lovely furry friends along the way! Taz works in orchards on kiwifruit and Rosie works at The Quarry Arts Centre and is also an artist. We both come from a background in festivals, events and outdoor work. Between us we have a combined 14 years of experience within Festivals and Events which we have started to transition out of now we have our own home. Needless to say it made us both adaptable and resilient! A calm and collected approach to all challenges was needed - we carry that energy with us in all that we do. We find bonding with animals is often very easy and natural. In our personal lives we have cared for many dogs and cats in houseshares in the UK (where we lived previously) including rescuing and raising a GSD mix from 9 months old (Hank) between 4 friends. Hank is now 10 and thriving! We understand housesit-ees with rescue pets may have more concerns due to their pets rescue 'quirks' but want them to know we are very familiar with this territory. Patience and consistency are so important and we are happy to take on the routines needed so your pet is at their best while you are gone. We do also have experience with chickens (both), small lizards and snakes, rats, hamsters (Taz), tropical fish and some horse care (Rosie). Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions
