We have had the pleasure of other sitters minding our home and would consider it a privilege to take care of someone else's home and beloved pets. My old cat required a daily diabetes injection and regular blood sugar tests so I am happy to carry out this if required. I love gardening so am happy to do any required. We will care for the owner's home as we would our own. My previous husband was a farmer and so I had many years of caring for a variety of animals, eg lambs, calves, horses, pigs etc. Peter and I will be very happy to be in a country area and care for the family's animals as needed.

Newly retired Grew up on a farm so was used to (3)dogs from a very young age and we had a cat too. We had 150 cows a few sheep and 40 odd chocks as well. My grandmother supplied the local shop and she also keeps bees! My main interests are modern history and modern architecture and vintage engineering (cars aircraft trains and radios). Sold house in Takapuna and given away almost all my possessions. Intend to travel for the next 8 or 9 years including spending time with my wife in Melbourne. Just spending this summer 2025 here and looking at travelling in NZ, staying in campgrounds etc in my old Toyota. Have house sat for friends and relatives in the past. Looked after my cousins house in England in 2024 for a month while he was in NZ. I was a landlord for 20 years so know how to take care of other peoples houses. When children were young had cats, fish, birds and lots of plants Also have experience with rabbits and with dogs. Would prefer a longer sit and I am very flexible with location. We are a married couple with 2x daughters aged 19 and 21 years (they are independent now so will not join us on our housesits). We would like to have a holiday with some of the comforts of home including a pet to come home to. We have a Mini Schnauzer named Ollie who is 6 years old. We walk him daily on the beach or park and socialise him with other dogs as much as possible. We love dogs and cats and would treat them like we do our own. We live in a motorhome and have housesat at a few homes which has been very successful. John has bred and shown dogs for 9 years and I grew up and had cats over many years. We have had positive feedback from homeowners as we have kept gardens tidy and get satisfaction from leaving a home cleaner than when we arrived. Hello there, My name is Donna and I'm a 60 year old mother of three children. I grew up in the Hutt Valley and have spent most of my life in the Wellington/Wairarapa area. For the past 10 years, I've been a healthcare assistance at a number of retirement villages in the Wellington region. While not working, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, going for bush walks and reading a good novel. I've previously done the odd house sit for friends and family, however with my children having all now left home and coming up to retirement, I'm keen to look at housesitting more frequently. I’m a retired pet lover but because I often go to Auckland to visit family I can’t have a pet of my own. Because I am often in Auckland I could possibly be available for in person interviews for Auckland sits. I grew up in Auckland but have lived in Opotiki for 18 years and love it here. I don’t live in the township but in the very small beach suburb of Tirohanga, only one house back from the beach. There are 30 houses/baches and about half of them are holiday homes. Of the other half at least 40% are occupied by retired people. Lots of them have pets and I fill my animal craving by frequently visiting them. I’m even lucky enough to have a nearly daily visit from my neighbours cat, “Smoke” I can’t see the beach but at night I can hear the waves crashing. I’m physically fit and as I live near a beautiful beach I walk on the beach or cycle track daily. I do 20 to 40 minutes with the occasional 60 minutes thrown in for good luck. I love to read and play board or card games, especially word games. I’m enjoying my retirement but feel like I need to stretch myself a little and house sitting will do that. I’m a gregarious but also very happy with my own company as long as I have a book to read! I’m definitely conscious and reliable as my references will concur. About us: David spent much of his early years on a farm in Matamata, before moving with his family to Auckland. I am a full time Mum (with a background in Event Management), my husband owns his own building company. We are a Christian family who love music, theatre, nature/outdoors, singing, reading, animals and travelling. Our reasons for wanting to house sit are two fold. 1) For opportunities to stay in or near Auckland for longer term visits to see our family who we really miss and 2) We absolutely love exploring our beautiful country, but as living costs increase it's becoming harder and harder to have holidays away. We usually stay in air bnbs, but house sitting would help us out immensely. We are home owners in Wanganui and we have also extensively used air bnbs to take our girls on mini breaks away. All our reviews from staying in different homes have been A+. We also personally keep a very tidy, organised, clean home in Wanganui. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently one cat), we love animals and plan to one day foster or rescue a dog! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. We are a recently retired couple who enjoy seeing different parts of New Zealand. House sitting would enable us to experience being part of the community and seeing more of the real New Zealand (instead of staying in anonymous Motels). We have had many adventures including walking the backcountry several times, but with age feel it's time to hang up the tramping boots and concentrate on more urban areas. Now we have a classic car and enjoy driving with other enthusiasts exploring some back roads on rallies and displaying the vehicle at car shows. We don't have a pet of our own as it would be unfair to leave them at home alone while we travel and so get our fix interacting with other peoples pets. In the past we have experienced house sitting, mostly friends or friends of friends, who have precious fur babies who they couldn't bear to put into kennels/catteries due to an earlier bad experience or being elderly and needing extra care. Being house owners ourselves we understand the need to keep the house and section to the same standard as it was left. We are both physically fit and have no problem if your dog loves long walks.

We are a semi-retired couple who like to take breaks away from our busy life in Raglan. I have various volunteer roles here, plus grandchildren, and Robin is a trauma therapist working from home - he retired from a medical career in 2020. We have used house sitters for our own home when we used to travel overseas for work and appreciated the security it gave us while we were away, knowing that our home and pets would be lovingly cared for. We would be very happy to provide this for other people. We are both very clean and tidy - we take pride in having a lovely comfortable home. My husband is also very handy (he also has an engineering background which helps here) and can usually fix almost anything! I love to cook, and enjoy gardening, walking and exploring new places. I am a very fit and active retiree. I left the workforce eight years ago to travel to various parts of the world, including some of NZ which I hadn’t yet been to. I have been involved in sport all my life and interested in organics and sustainabilities for many years, so decided to become a Woofer (Willing Worker On Organic Farms). I have thoroughly enjoyed all my placements in NZ, Australia, USA and Portugal. I have visited places and met people that I would never had the chance as a tourist and learnt about growing fruits, vegetables and raising animals in an totally organic and sustainable manner. I have looked after many animals and learnt how to give back to the land for future harvests. Six years ago in 2018 I bought a lifestyle property in the Far North, so have not been able to travel as much, or house sit as I used to, while working hard on my land. Now however I have more spare time, & look forward to being able to travel in NZ. I currently work on my orchard of 100+ trees of every description imaginable, & 4 large vegetable plots. I farm totally organically, eat in season, & am self sufficient(++) with fruit, vegetables & eggs from my 5 chickens. I am able to swap my excesses for milk, meat, cheese & bread! I feel very fortunate. I also have extra acreage which I use for growing grass, (local farmer makes hay in summer). I have also done two caminos (long walks) in both France, and Portugal into Spain. These were 750 and 700km respectively, in 2014 & 2017. My most recent was from Lisbon, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I have been a proud homeowner since 1980. As a house sitter, you will have someone with old fashion values of care & respect for your property, a good work ethic, totally reliable & honest. As for pets, when my children were growing up, we had a Staffordshire bull terrier, rabbits, cats, cockatiel and baby goats. Currently I have 5 chickens. While woofing I have looked after lots of dogs, cats, goats (learnt to milk), chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, and loved all those times. My woofing hosts would sometimes leave me to house sit at weekends, or in one case, for 10 days when an unavoidable event happened. On that occasion I looked after a small farmlet of goats, cows chickens, vegetable garden, orchard....the entire property. I loved the challenge and was totally equal to the task of overall management. I love outdoors work. Obviously I enjoy walking, so dogs love me for their twice daily long walks. Hi pet parents, I love my animals and I understand how important it is to know they are in good hands when you're away on holiday or have to leave them for whatever reason. To have them at home, instead of putting them in a kennel or cattery, is such a wonderful, better option for everyone. I can send you photo's and video's while away so you feel happy knowing that they're being cared for and living their normal lives. I take my responsibilities seriously and you can expect your house to be as you left it upon your return. I work on line so location is not a problem and I'm willing to travel around as I quite enjoy it. If I'm not in your area at the time we could do a video call for a chat and you could show me around. Kia ora everyone. My name's Jenny, and I am a former Dental Nurse from Wellington who is now living and studying a double business major in Whanganui, New Zealand. I moved back to Aotearoa after spending 10 years in Melbourne, Australia where I enjoyed looking after lots of beautiful pets (and even 3 llamas and a goat!). My biggest passions in life, apart from caring for animals, are spending time with friends and family, live music, reading, cooking, and traveling around the beautiful country I grew up in. I love all animals, big and small and grew up a myself with a beautiful Burmese cat named Daisy. Missing the company of animals while I was living in Australia, I decided to take up pet sitting, and now I know I'll continue to pet sit until I'm old and grey. I've met many beautiful pets over the years (you’ll see some of them in my pictures above) with so many colourful personalities and would love to meet your special ones too. After working for three years in the semiconductor industry, I decided to take a year off overseas. There was no better country than New Zealand, as I planned to walk the Te Araroa Trail. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish (also lamas and even rats) - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. Hello my name is Virginia, I am from Argentina currently travelling Oceania because I have a sister that lives in Sydney. I'm 33 years old, about to turn 34. I speak both english and spanish. I own an online English academy. I'm in charge of a team of 8 professionals and 80 to 90 students. Therefore I can portrait myself as a responsible and dependable person. As a teenager I was a foreign exchange student, and as a college student I resided in girls residencies, so I could say I've had practice in terms of following people's household rules. It's not a problem for me to adjust to the needs a family, house and pets might have under my watch. I have no doubt I could care for your home as if it were my own with the gratitude of being able to reside in it. I'm extremely clean and organized, and make the place around me to fit that criteria. You can count on having your house cared after as if you would be there. When it comes to pets, I'm a pet lover, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and I've been through many situations with them, including hospitalization and short term treatment medication, so I consider myself to be able to respond correctly in case of emergency, I'm knowledgable in dog behaviors and could catch anything out of the ordinary and report it to you for your peace of mind. My dogs are under an organic meal routine so I meal prep for them, and walk them 60 to 90 minutes per day, so I'm use to following a routine for them. Cats on the other hand are more independent so they just play in our backyard or sleep. I've had pets since I was a child so I feel it just comes natural to me to care for them. I think of my pet as my own children therefore the love and respect I have for them is as if they were human beings. You can be certain that your pets will be taken care of with love and respect. I'm currently housesitting my sister's house and her dog Leon, a 4-year old moodle. Among other experiences: In march I housesat my sister’s friend house in the Gold Coast for a week, caring for the house and her dog Cruiser, a 7-years old American bully. I have housesat my uncle's house two summers when he would go on vacation, caring for the house and Chuni and Chunita, his 2 pitbulls. I have also housesat my former in-laws house and their dog, 2 summers ago, Neri a 4 year-old Schnautzer, and Charlie a 2 year-old dachshund. I have never cared for somebody else's cat but I'm confident that nothing should go wrong, cats usually like me and cuddle with me whenever I'm at cat owner's houses. I find it to be extremely beneficial for me to be surrounded by pets, so I enjoy spending quality time with them. I work remotely so I spend most of the day at home when traveling.

I am a young and active senior who retired at Christmas 2021, I had worked with Ontario's largest Children's Mental Health Agency for 18 years. I am a non smoker and tea total (well coffee addict). I arrived in back NZ early 2022 after spending 19 years in Canada. My husband passed away in 2021. Quite the battle to get into MIQ to return home, with the lotto draw they installed !!! I house sat before leaving for Canada in Omokoroa and Mount Maunganui. One was an Avocado Orchard and they had 70 Parrots in aviaries on the property, such fun. I have been the proud owner of 5 rescue Old English Sheepdogs.. not all at the same time !!!! so I know about grooming. My last dog Boomer was 116lbs, (52.5kg) a big strong boy and the light of our lives. In 2020 we started to foster dogs brought up from Texas from the "high kill" pounds. Copper was our first, A Walker Coon Hound... never heard of them before and what a delight with his howl. I will leave your home as you left it though I do enjoy gardening and cleaning windows... My hobbies are reading, walking, knitting and TV..... I am a friendly person. get on with most people, I am the listener not the talker... I grew up in UK, came to NZ and then followed my son to Canada. Just went for a holiday and met my husband, tore up my ticket and stayed put for 19 years....... I consider NZ home..... My aim is to enjoy my retirement by experiencing new places and meeting new people. House sitting is a wonderful way to achieve the above in a win-win situation. I love the animals and the outdoors. I am a retired GP and I know how precious life is. I used to have cats and dogs and a couple of turtles when I was younger and I loved them dearly. I remember a pair of Doberman puppies, Linda and Max. I "saved" them from their mother who had too many babies to be able to feed them properly. They were 5 days old and I bottle fed them and looked after them until they were 4-5 months old. Linda went to another owner and I wanted to keep Max, but alas, one day he disappeared from my parents' well fenced garden. Then I had Jimmy (it was during Jimmy Carter's time). I found him on the street. He was a naughty boy and used to ruin everything around the house including our neighbors' washings and other belongings. He was adopted by a family who lived in the country side. A cat I found on the steps in front of my apartment, a couple of turtles that grew up nicely in our flat. When I bought a village house with a big garden about 4 years ago, it came with Athos, a Romanian shepherd dog who had established his headquarters on this property. Nobody knew exactly how old he was. They only knew that he was left behind by his flock more than 16 years ago (see photo). And now a bit more about myself as your house sitter. I will keep your house tidy and clean, I like to be punctual and keep my word, I am open and friendly. Other hobbies that I might entertain while house sitting beside looking after your pets could be reading, handcraft, learning Japanese, walking and gardening as needed. Hi! Exciting times for me. I have recently retired from a busy career, and have just moved from Auckland. Contacts from friends has seen me recently complete two housesits of 2 weeks, and 3 weeks duration in Hawkes Bay. One with a dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 3 chooks, a rabbit and some fish; the other with a dog and a cat. Over the years I have been a house sitter, a home owner, and a renter. I am used to moving around as my career has seen me change location a number of times, as well as regular travel and overnight stays. I’m pet free at the moment. My job necessitated regular travel, meaning I couldn’t give the required care and attention to a pet. As a child we had a very much loved family cat. When I had my children we had 2 cats from kittens and they completed our household with their crazy antics. My experience with dogs has been with a farm dog early in marriage, and later with an adult golden Labrador who was great with the kids and an easy care dog. There has since been a gap. My brother in the Bay has a staffie, and I will be housesitting and caring for him for 4 days in April. Approximately 20 years ago I housesat over a year, mainly in Gisborne. One housesit was for 3 months overseeing a home that was on the market, keeping it viewing ready. We have also looked after a neighbour's diabetic cat when they were frequently away, including giving daily insulin injections and special diabetic food requirements. After our last elderly dog passed away 8 years ago, we really missed having a dog in our home, so became approved volunteer puppy boarders for Blind/Low Vision puppies, and have really enjoyed providing this service. As we have friends and family in Christchurch and various parts of the North Island, we would love to house sit when we travel to those areas, as well as when we explore new areas that we haven't yet been to. Growing up, my family had a Samoyed dog and two cats. My father was also the local dog walker and I often walked the dogs as well. Once I looked after a rabbit that needed daily injections for eight weeks . Currently, I am a house owner and I have a rental property in Auckland.I also teach full-time at a girls school and am responsible for the learning support department. With the goal of one day retiring outside of Auckland I would love an opportunity to look after someone else’s home and animals and explore other parts of the country. I am in my happy place with animals and nature and I am very fit, energetic and reliable. I enjoy road cycling, walking, yoga and swimming. My day typically starts at 5.30 am with a walk before work and finishes with another walk and sometimes yoga. At weekends, I cycle regularly 50 -70 kms for leisure. My other interests are vegetable gardening, reading and cooking. Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a 42 year old woman who has been going through cancer treatment this year, thankfully with a positive outcome. I also have a nearly 21 year old daughter who I raised as a solo mum. We always had cats in our family which have included a girl called cuddles one of her kittens, Garfield, as sweet girl called patch who was white with a couple of black patches and a black tail, and two girls, Mocca, and Cino, the latter who has been my my comfort and support while going through cancer treatment. My daughter and I also had our own cat who found us, who was the biggest smooch, I have known who I miss terribly. My family, growing up also had a golden retriever called, Zoe, and a budgie called Moses, and my daughter and I also had our own budgie called Mika, and we had a couple of fish called Bubbles and Scales when my daughter was younger. Hopefully, this gives you an idea that I have plenty of experiences looking after pets! I have had one experience of housesitting, which was early this year, looking after two male labradoodle puppies, and two cats while the family were overseas for three weeks. There was an issue with the puppies, which I resolved and the couple were thankful for how things were handled. I looked after their greenhouse during this period which required a lot of care. I see being able to live in and look after someone's home as privilege and would endeavour to care for the property how I would wish someone to look after my own. I think a discussion about expectations of what is important to the family is in an important part of that, so that if there are any particular needs or concerns that is clear from the beginning, especially if pets are being looked after. Pets are part of the family, so I would treat them with the love and care they deserve, just like I would with my own.

With more free time at our disposal house sitting becomes an attractive way to be useful to others as well as offering new experiences for us. We have travelled internationally for both business and family overseas, as well as extensively throughout New Zealand, and having lived long spells in Wellington, Auckland and now retired to Bay of Plenty. With the family overseas, often our time away has been for up to 3 months, and on those occasions we have had friends and others staying at our home. We know what it is like to make your home available to others who you are familiar with and some who you are not but still have that small apprehension about whether it will be ok. We know how you are feeling making this commitment. We have been long term dog and cat owners, and currently regularly play house parents to a friend's dog. Walking and appropriate exercise is not a problem. Other friends also call on us to house sit and mind their precious moggy, often for longer periods. With golf being a sport that we both enjoy, the opportunity to play courses in your region is an added appeal for house sitting. but also assures you that we are fit and able to walk as far as your pets need. Choosing us to look after your house and pets will give maximum assurance that all will be well cared for, and treated as if they were our own. I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. He was very active and we walked twice a day. I am a competent horse rider and will consider looking after most animals. Would love to throw on my gum boots and head out to the paddock to cover a horse or move an animal to another paddock. I am a Scottish country dancer and like to walk, garden, read and knit. I am willing to go anywhere in NZ and would prefer a rural setting. I am looking forward to my next trip to be a Kiwi for a few months this year from early Sept 2025 - Jan 2026.

Paul and Meilia
Hi, my name is Paul Clark and my wife is Meilia. We have been married for 25 years and have three adult children. I have had a lifetime working in Engineering Project Management and am recently retired, though do voluntary work for St John Ambulance (MIST). My wife continues to work and would also house sit with me for part of the time. We have a cat and my children have two dogs who are welcome at our house. I have previously stayed at a friends house and looked after their dog when they went overseas on holiday. I would treat the homeowners house with due respect and privacy entering only areas that were made available to me. I mow lawns, clean toilets and clean up after me and like to live in a tidy space.
