New Plymouth
People move to New Plymouth for its beauty, arts community, great beaches, the world-class Pukekura Park and its open spaces (which dogs adore). The work of famous kinetic artist Len Lye draws thousands of visitors in each year, whilst the coastal walkway is brilliant for people who love to cycle and walk in beautiful surroundings. For people who love great music, art and vibrancy, then the WOMAD Festival is an experience never to be forgotten. If living rent-free in a wonderful city is for you, then New Plymouth could be perfect.

We are a retired couple and have been married for 46years we have all time in the world to help out with house sitting, we love pets such as dogs, cats, birds etc, we love travel and seeing the sights around our beautiful country and this is what has encouraged us to house sit for other families and respect their home as they were our own, we have house sat before for friends and look forward to the forth coming challenge. Michele my wife worked for many years as a caregiver in rest homes and hospitals she loves to keep a nice neat tidy home and loves to sing go for long walks and gardening, I Gordon when I was a carpenter/Builder and Textile worker in full time work I cared for and raced pigeons for 14 years and was treasurer for the Wanganui Pigeon Flying Club also love gardening, and renovating houses, we have had many cats over the years but our Cavalier King Charles was our baby for 12 and a half years finally passing away with cancer. As I was growing up I was brought up with many animals such as Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Ducks, small birds they were always pleasure to care for. My wife Michele was raised on a dairy farm with farm dogs and loved feeding the calves. We are looking forward to house sitting and caring for other peoples pets.

Sid and I have house sat for friends and collegues and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Sadly, our King Charles dog, Monty, passed away last Christmas. We still want contact with pets as we both have a strong love of animals. Caring for pets is extremely rewarding. We have cared for dogs, cats, chickens, heifers, tropical fish, and avery birds. We are both professionals... calm and reliable with good ethics. We cope well in difficult situations. We are experienced house sitters; very clean, tidy and security conscious. We don't smoke but do enjoy the occasional wine with our dinner. We are planning to explore parts of NZ that we haven't yet seen...so for us both, how could it be better than this?

Hi. We are Hazel and John and have owned dogs and cats for over 40 years and now find ourselves without any pets so would love to have the opportunity to spend time with your cat or dog. Our spaniel and ginger cat died last year and we are a little lost without them as we both love walking, and walking a dog is very social - everybody stops and talks. We understand animals grieving whilst their owner is absent and we would spend lots of time with them to calm them down. We are also used to giving dogs any pills as we have previously had King Charles Cavaliers who needed medication, plus we have also owned two beautiful labradors so are happy with larger dogs. We are both in excellent health, and, although we have grey hair don't be fooled by our lack of energy. We live, by choice, in a retirement village with our own villa and have taken over our part of the garden much to the relief of the gardener! so we would be more than happy to water any plants as instructed. We would treat your home like our own, with care and consideration. Both John and I love a quiet life although we are involved in such things as U3A, Probus, Gardening Groups, Lions, Mainly Music (for preschool children), Choir and I do hand bell ringing (at least I try)! We are also avid readers and I like painting. I hope this gives you some idea of who we are and we look forward to hearing from you. P.S. We are double vaccinated

Retired after 30 years with the same company and my wife Sue is a retired Podiatrist. and fprmer Nurse. We are a happily married couple of 56 years with our own lovely home ,very active and attend the gym on a regular basis. . Being retired means we can devote much attention and love to your pets . Some years ago we house-sat overseas in Britain, this was a great experience and after our return we were personally contacted to look after a home in the area for 6 months, unfortunately we were not able to do so for such a long period at that time. A friend of our daughters asked us to look after their house and pets for a week which gave us the idea to do it again. We like the freedom house sitting gives and appreciate the trust that home owners would place in us. We regularly look after our neighbors dog when they go away and she becomes part of our family.. . We are also in regular demand from our daughter and granddaughter to look after their 2 cats in their homes home when they go away. You can expect a trusting caring couple to look after your home as they enjoy their retirement. in NZ. and take great care of your pets. We always leave a home looking spotless. We look forward to meeting new people and homes as part of our retirement enjoyment. We are utterly reliable. We have had over the years as pets in the family - many cats and dogs . We also lived in Africa for 10 years as part of my Job and had 2 dogs, a cow chickens and rabbits on the small lifestyle block plus fish tank. . Later we had cats. more dogs. and now regularly look after our neighbours lovely dog often a month at a time as they travel We are young at heart active retirees who enjoy life and it would be a privelige to look after your home and pets. Happy also to do a bit of garden pottering as we love our home garden.

Hello homeowner, Wren and Rosalind are fit, active people who don't believe that "retired" means sitting around doing little. Looking after your home and having quality time with your pets is much more appealing! First, a bit about our past working lives. Wren has a Ph.D. in ecology and worked as a research ecologist before working in the Department of Conservation. After that, Wren worked as an environmental consultant, mostly in New Zealand, and can now indulge his passion for nature photography. Rosalind had a successful career in medical research, then moved to the USA for 20 years which included time at a Zen monastry and lots of housesits with pets, before returning to New Zealand. She loves gardening and community work. We are both dedicated Wellingtonians, so we are very adaptable, weather-wise! HOUSEOWNERS ALERT: You will see that my References are for Wren and Jan, not Wren and Rosalind. My change of partners happened in early 2022, although Rosalind and I have known each other for a number of years. Life is what it is. I'm quite sure the reviews would have been the same if Rosalind and I had been doing them together. Promise!! We are experienced international as well NZ-based travellers and have separately enjoyed exploring many countries and different cultures over the decades. As a retired couple, housesitting is a wonderful opportunity for us to indulge our two loves of seeing New Zealand and having time with pets. We both love animals which is a big appeal of housesitting. We are very responsible and reliable homeowners and know how to maintain and care for houses. Wren grew up with a lovely Samoyed called Sally. We can guarantee you total peace of mind while you are away. We will keep in touch with regular email and photo updates on how your pets are doing and are happy to do gardening or other maintenance jobs. 24/7 care is our commitment to you. We look forward to hearing from you. Warm regards, Wren and Rosalind

I am now a single woman recently retired from the professional workforce and have returned to New Zealand after living overseas for a number of years. Since retiring I have been asked to house/pet sit on two occasions. I enjoyed the experience and would like to expand on that, while at the same time seeing more of New Zealand. A little about myself - I grew up on a dairy farm in the Manawatu and am comfortable with all animals. I don't have any pets of my own at the moment but I did have as a child including cats, dogs, guinea pigs and a lamb. My interests include travel, reading, gardening, cycling, walking/tramping, the outdoors and meeting new people and hearing about their lives and interests. Also my 3 sons and their families which include my 5 young grand children. I own my home and can assure home owners that I will treat their home, garden and pets as if they were my own. I am very security conscious and clean living and have respect for people and their possessions. I look forward to caring for your homes, gardens and pets and assure home owners that I am a trustworthy and respectful person. I have included references from other home owners and long term friends for your perusal. Please contact me if you have any further questions.

We are 68 and 73 yrs, involved in golf croquet, bridge, Bushy Park Wildlife Sanctuary (Board member) and the Association of Administration Professionals NZ. We walk a lot, ride e bikes, enjoy reading and are keen gardeners. We have travelled a lot overseas but would like to revisit a lot of areas in NZ in our retirement. For the past 20 years we have done 25 home exchanges mainly in USA, Australia, England, Italy, Belgium, Austria and Ireland. Some of these involved looking after pets as well as owners' homes. Our most recent house sits were for three weeks in Cairns in 2016 looking after Angel, a shitzu, 2 weeks in Christchurch looking after two shitzus; four weeks in Toowoomba, Brisbane in 2017 looking after a bichon called Geordie, 2 weeks in Whanganui looking after a Labrador, Sienna and KC the cat; and in Palmerston North, NZ looking after 2 bichons Maisie and Maggie in 2018 twice; and a Bichon and shitzhu and Burmese cat in New Plymouth, 2 labs in Te Puke in 2019 and a boxer in Christchurch for 3 weeks in 2020. More recently we have looked after border terriers, collies, pigs, geese, fish, chickens, sheep and cows. All the dogs were gorgeous and loved going for walks, going out in the car and playing ball in the park. We have had cats over the years and more recently looked after our adult sons' dogs; a cavoodle and a heading/pointer cross. We have also looked after cocker spaniels and labradors. Graeme is particularly fond of border collies and we would have one except we have a small section. I have been employed as a PA at the local hospital for the past 25 years and on a casual contract on project work. We are both now retired; Graeme is a handyman type and maintains our house and garden to a high standard. We have built and landscaped two homes, taking pride in keeping them well maintained. We are reliable, clean, honest and caring of pets. We are happy to take your dog(s) for walks and out with us in the car if they like car trips. We would look after your home as you would and you can be reassured things will be left as we find them. We are happy to talk to and play with your pets, mow lawns and water gardens if needed. We will keep you informed by email while you are away of how your pet(s) is. We hope that you will consider us as your potential house and pet sitters.

Hello I’m Em! My hubby Beau and daughters Sophie (14yrs) and Storm (4yrs) are on a new adventure, open to any opportunities whatever they may be. We are responsible and reliable, professionals who have sold our businesses to allow a major lifestyle change for our family. We love the concept of helping others care for their beautiful pets and homes and are truely hopeful to build an ongoing friendship where we can help in anyway, at anytime if required in the future! Reliable house sitters, is something we have always struggled to find for our home and pets over the years making travelling really difficult for us in the past. Because of this I feel I understand what is required to make a wonderful house and pet sitter! Our girls are very mature, polite and absolutely adore all animals! We are self contained in a caravan if you prefer us not sleeping in your home, however your loved pets might end up in there with us as they tend to adore my girls just they same! I have a farming background (all animals), I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty in the garden with the girls but I take just as much pride inside keeping a clean home. Hubby is a tradie, handy man at everything, with a passion for marine animals as he grew up coastal always on a boat. We are both able to ride motorbikes, quads and buggy’s if required on land to check land or stock. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all!

Hi there, We are a professional couple (Deputy principal and teacher) with 2 young children (7yrs and 5yrs), who are in school and daycare during the week. We are active, love the outdoors and love animals. We are happy to look after any pets. Our youngest child is very gentle with pets, as is our eldest who is very used to animals. She likes to help us feed, wash and take care of them, and where appropriate, take them for walks. Rochelle was bought up on a farm and is comfortable with livestock and farm dogs. We have had pets before, including 2 shih tzu dogs, which we bred from for a number of years, so are used to dogs of all ages. We are also equally comfortable looking after cats. We maintain a clean and tidy household and will respect any property that we are in. We will take great care of your home and love your pets like our own. Kind Regards, Shane and Rochelle

As a previous home owner I understand how important it is to care after a home. Furnishing a home can be costly so I always make sure when house sitting that I'm always cautious of peoples belongings. There's nothing worse than a carpet stain!! But I make sure this sort of thing never happens. I'm a single 40 year old business owner and before getting back into the property market I've decided to do housesitting for the rest of the year. I've looked after both cats and dogs in the past. I am very tidy and respectful and love animals! Open to any questions you may have about me! Look forward to hearing from you.

Kia ora, we are Holly (30) and Jamie (32), two professionals hoping to see more of our beautiful country, embrace flexible working, and explore where we might like to settle in the coming years. We are looking forward to taking care of your lovely home and giving your fur babies (if you have them) all the love and care they need each day. We are also keen to get to know the local community. We are very clean and tidy (Jamie finds cleaning his relaxing happy place) and quiet sorts (a good book in the evening types). Holly has green thumbs and is more than happy to look after any veggie patch or compost heap needing some care. For the pet parents: we are animal lovers and experienced pet sitters (can provide references). We are no stranger to dogs and cats needing a bit of extra care, special diets, or who are a bit older. We are more than happy to take a slower walk and pop some arthritis medicine in food if needed! We have lived with and have lots of experience with dogs of all kinds and just love to be around them. Most recently we have been loving living with and taking care of a beautiful older German Shepard, and before that a very lively English Sheep-dog puppy. We also both grew up with cats who we adore, and regularly pet sit two big feline fluff balls Oscar and Early, who have big attitudes, a strict feeding schedule and some special diets (and who are totally deserving of the fuss). We don't have much experience beyond cats, dogs and chickens (have owned and looked after these too) but are happy to get to know your llamas or other exciting furry family members. A bit about us: We are sustainability professionals and passionate about the environment. Jamie is an ex-lawyer, now working in government and Holly is a senior manager working with businesses on supply chains. We love getting out in nature, cycling, surfing, cooking, gardening, and reading good books in the sun. Happy to chat more if you are interested in meeting us.
