Christchurch
Famously known as The Garden City, Christchurch is also a city where the past and present combine in architecture. This makes for a city of things always happening, from the trendy dining and drinking Salt District, to the celebration of the arts at the Christchurch Art Gallery, and the theatre at the Isaac Theatre Royal.
This is a city of great strength and character, of community and redevelopment after the devastating 2011 earthquake. There are parks for running and walking (dogs love the open spaces), and much to do away from the city such as visiting Akaroa and Banks Peninsula.

Hello! Chris and Rae here!! We are very careful and responsible people. An older couple, semi retired, we have had house sitters in our home and have been very grateful for the way it was cared for. We want to do the same for you. Our Birman cat Coco - if she was still alive, would vouch for the love and attention any cat in our care would get. We miss her terribly. We want contact with other cats. We would like to stay in some areas in NZ and get to know them better. Especially by the water! - being sailing people..... We would love to take good care of your home and cat(s) or fish or well behaved dog - we love walking!!! - so that you have a carefree holiday. Maybe next year we will continue our travels around the world and visit our family - in the meantime we will look after yours while you travel.

I am a 77 year old ex-South African. Retired but still doing some consulting, remotely. Full driver's licence. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. TV is therefore a 'nice-to-have'. I also need somewhere safe to park my car, preferably under cover. I look forward to speaking with you soon ... Liston (I am on WhatsApp)

Hi, I love living with animals, and really miss not having been able to care for one of my own, be it a cat or a dog, due to my living situation and lifestyle. I'm pretty active, enjoying tramping, running, cycling and going to the gym. Reading, drawing and meditation are also important for me. I've started my first garden in decades - pretty exciting. I don't smoke. I work part time online, and study Te Reo Maori. I spend a lot of time at home and have a flexible lifestyle. House sitting offers the chance to catch up with friends and activities in other regions. It's also a good opportunity to have some 'quiet' time for study, as I live in a house with other people. It's a great household, but it's just nice to mix it up. Most of my house sits are through word of mouth, so I've posted some of those references on this site, and can supply contact details of others.

Dear Home & Pet Owner I am writing to express my interest in the housesitting and pet-sitting opportunity you have available. With a deep-rooted love for animals and a proven track record in responsible pet and house care, I believe I am an ideal candidate for this role. Working from home also provides a unique advantage when it comes to caring for animals: My work-from-home situation benefits the animals by providing continuous care and attention, which can be reassuring for pet owners entrusting their pets to my care. Experience and Expertise: Comprehensive Animal Care: I have extensive experience caring for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, and various farm animals. From daily feeding and grooming routines to administering medications and providing ample playtime, I ensure each animal receives individualized attention and care tailored to their needs. Animal Behaviour: Understanding: Having worked with diverse breeds and species, I possess a strong understanding of animal behaviour. This allows me to anticipate their needs, recognize signs of distress, and ensure their overall well-being and comfort while you are away. Reliable and Trustworthy: I prioritize reliability and trustworthiness in each of my house/pet-sitting roles. Your home and animals' safety are my utmost priority, and I maintain a high level of security and care throughout my housesitting responsibilities. Passion for Animal Welfare: I am passionate about animal welfare, and committed to providing the highest standard of care. I believe in fostering a nurturing environment that promotes the well-being and happiness of all animals under my supervision. Adaptable to Unique Requirements: Whether it's tending to farm animals, maintaining specific dietary needs, or providing specialized care for individual pets, I am adaptable and capable of meeting your unique requirements. Communication: I understand the importance of communication and will provide regular updates, including photos and messages, to keep you informed and reassured about your pets' well-being during your absence. Constant Supervision: Being at home allows me to provide continuous supervision and attention to your animals throughout the day. This ensures they receive not only scheduled care but also spontaneous interaction and companionship. Flexibility, Availability & Immediate Response: In case of any emergencies or unexpected situations, my immediate availability allows me to promptly address any concerns and tend to your animals' needs without delay. Structured Routine: Working from home enables me to establish and adhere to a consistent routine for feeding, exercise, and playtime. This consistency promotes a sense of stability and comfort for your animals and reduces their stress levels. This also allows me to provide extra care and attention during the day, ensuring that your animals receive ample love, interaction, and mental stimulation, which contributes to their overall well-being. In conclusion, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to care for your home and beloved animals. My commitment, experience, and genuine love for animals, along with my ability to work from home translate into a dedicated and attentive presence for your animals, guaranteeing their care and happiness day and night. Thank you for considering my application. I am looking forward to the possibility of writing my next best-selling novel in your home while contributing to the well-being of your animals and providing peace of mind while you are away. Warm regards, Angela

I am a well experienced ,active retired Nurse who has her own small life style block where l encouraged nature, caring for animals and actively tramping with my two daughters . Because l travelled abroad with my Nursing qualifications (my daughters had left the nest l) l realised the adventure of house sitting with my profession went hand in hand . I travelled around Australia and with word of mouth, mainly my work colleagues l found another roll in taking care of a variety of animals / pets and then took an active roll after l was retired going to Europe with another house sitting organisation. I prefer to stay close in NZ now. I am a open hearted person who prides herself in making sure the home owners are secure in knowing l will look after their home and pets as if my own and the specific needs of each pet. Hello! My name is Stephanie and I'm 32 years old, originally from the UK, I have called NZ my home for the past 4.5 years. I have lived in Wellington, Dunedin and most recently Christchurch for the past 2 years. I spend most of my free time tramping, trail running and climbing (and cold plunging in the sea or lakes!) I am looking for an opportunity to spend a winter down in the mountains of Central Otago, so I can improve my skiing skills and to explore a new region for walking and running. I look after a friends dog (huntaway/kelpie) once a week and take him out for a walk/run along the beach. I love having the company when I run so if your dog loves running/and or long walks then that's a win for both of us! I'm very clean and organised and enjoy spending time on my own in the house .

Good morning/afternoon, I am a French 24-year-old guy, I was a civil engineer in France before coming to New Zealand - I arrived 3 months ago. I intend to visit the country from the end of February, and I am currently living in Wellington, where I currently work in security. I have been living in a proper flat with one kiwi flatmate for 2 months now. I want to visit New Zealand until mid-April, and then I will be looking for a job in Auckland. For my trip throughout New Zealand, I will be travelling with my French partner I have actually met here in Wellington. She is Audrey, a 26-year-old girl. She is really (really) kind, friendly but also serious and tidy. She speaks better English than I do, as she arrived in the country 10 months ago. Furthermore, she is very familiar with NZ culture, landscapes, fauna and flora as she has been planning this trip for 4 years. Her job is a freelance graphic designer, so she is used to remote working. She has been a house sitter several times. She has also done some couch-surfing many times with good reviews. We are both animal lovers. I have personally grown up with 2 cats at home, and I have always liked playing with my uncle's dogs. Audrey has grown up with an American Akita and also loves cats. Plus, she has been horse riding when she was younger. We are both clean, serious and tidy person. We really appreciate taking care of our living and working spaces. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. Hope to hear from you soon.

I was previously registered as a house sitter whilst living in an apartment in cbd Auckland. It was nice to stay in a "real" home every now and then. I went over seas and travelled around the world as I'd finally freed up time after 25 years in real estate sales and other business commitments. I'm a wonderful house keeper / cleaner, so I'm a great match. I love to cook too and used to make my pets gourmet meals! I have an eye for detail and take pride in keeping property clean and tidy. You can rest assured your home will be looked after. Pets too, are assured of the love and attention they deserve. As a family (my children are adults now, and I'm single) we have always had pets. Cats and dogs. Mainly small breeds of dog. I've owned and loved: Bichon Poodle Chinese crested powder puff Fox terrier Jack russel. Small energetic dogs. We've also owned the exact opposites. Whilst living on Waiheke Island, we enjoyed Maremma sheepdog and Dogue Bruxelles : a HUGE BOY called Golly He pulled my kids around on a sled! I'm happy around all animals. My forte' is cleaning and I'm not put off by much. I'm energetic, polite and respectful of peoples property, pets and privacy. Thank you. CORALIE LUSH

My wife, Annette, and I (John) are both retired. We are both looking forward to travelling the country in our retirement and Housesitting would suit us as we will have a limited budget for accommodation. We don't have pets currently but have experience with Dogs and Cats. We moved in to town 7 years ago, previous to this we lived on 3 different lifestyle blocks over 16 years where we had Sheep and Chickens. During that time we also raised a Cow and a Goat. :) We keep our own House very tidy and would take the same care with any house we stayed in. We would love the opportunity to take care of your house and pet.

We have our own home in Rodney district. We are pretty much retired. Lesley is a registered nurse and Richard a freelance IT specialist doing occasional work from home. At the moment our 2 children in their twenties are in the UK. Circumstances make it necessary for us to return to the UK from May 23rd to September 12th so we will be unavailable during that period. We are pretty much home birds and are very happy to chill and read or make friends with your lovely pets. We have house sat before for a variety of pets - cats, chickens, fish, dogs - and very much enjoyed this. The main reason being that we are animal lovers and Lesley especially is feeling pet deprived at the moment since having to put down our most adored cat Ginger 18 months ago. We have taken the decision not to replace him at for the moment so she has become that annoying person that has to pet everybody's dog on the beach and talk to every cat in the street! We are mature responsible people who totally understand the need to feel that your home and pets are being properly looked after and treated with respect and would be very happy to do this.

Hi there. My name is Neryl. I have recently retired from work as a care giver in a dementia unit at a care facility in Rotorua. I am currently travelling around NZ in my campervan and am looking forward to doing a few house sits along the way. From May to August 2023 I was in Australia house sitting for my son and his wife while they toured Europe. They have an adorable fluffy black and white cat which I had great pleasure in looking after while they were away. I have enjoyed the company of animals most of my life, mainly cats. I currently have a beautiful cat named Lucky. She is being looked after by my son and his family while I am away. I know how valuable our pets are to us and I will do my upmost to look after your pets with the same love and care as I do for my own pet cat, Lucky. .

I have been living in NZ for 2 years and would like to visit and explore more areas around the country. I am a professional who is able to work remotely. In the past, I have owned cats, dogs, and birds so I am familiar with how to care for them. I have also been a homeowner in the past and know the importance of having someone trustworthy to look after it.

I have sold my home in June 2023 & want to continue to work in my current part time position in the health service area. I have 40 year's experience looking after and maintaining my own homes + rentals. We have had, cats, dogs, chickens, goats + my children had a verity of animals over the years. Number 1 would be security and safety within the house. Treating the home and pets with respect at all times. Very clean and tidy. As a super gold card person would not have parties or large groups of people coming around.

Hi! We're Eli and Jasi, a newly married couple looking to house sit as we work hard to save to eventually have our own home. House sitting is ideal for us as we have our own converted van to live in between stays and for transportation. Some of our hobbies include music, fitness, creating with our hands, working in our church and spending time with family. Both of us have been raised in homes with many diffrent pets throughout the years. These pets include cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, birds, fish, frogs, lizards, and other live stock occasional. We both have dogs, one rescue pups, and the other a purebred Cavalier king Charles spaniel. We have experience raising puppies as our Cavalier has had a few litters of gorgeous cavoodle puppies. Therefore we have lots of experience with puppies and dogs. As we don't have our own home yet, our dogs are currently living with our relatives. Eli is a builder, but afterwork in the evenings we enjoy activities like walking which we'd love to bring a dog along for. As we are newly married and Jasi moved here, she hasn't yet started work and doesn't plan to until next year. This means she will spend most of the day at home and can therefore give your pets all the love and attention they need. We are responsible, don't smoke, drink or party and would respect and maintain your home.

Hey, I'm Geordie. I grew up on a lifestyle block at Swannanoa, next to my grandparents' farm. I enjoy looking after and interacting with animals. I grew up with many pets, a lot of cats and quite a few dogs. Being next to a dry riverbed we often had people dumping cats and kittens and we took them in and looked after them. I have also helped out with feeding and caring for sheep, goats, hens and ducks. It has always been a part of my life and it is something I enjoy. I have a responsible and caring nature. I work as an electrician at Christchurch Electrical. My hobbies are wood working and building furniture, playing acoustic guitar and getting out into nature. I don't drink alcohol and I am not a party goer. I would like to house sit as I am wanting to save to go overseas next year and I think I would enjoy housesitting and looking after people's animals. If you are looking for someone responsible and caring who would look after your pets and home well, with kindness and respect I would be happy to help. Let me know if you have any questions or want to chat. Thank you for considering me as your house sitter. Thank you, Geordie

Hi there, my name is Kirsty and I am wife to Richard and Mum to two daughters who are 8 and 4. We are ex Aucklanders who moved to Wanganui in 2019. I am a full time Mum (with a background in Event Management), my husband owns his own building company. We are a Christian family who love music, theatre, nature/outdoors, singing, reading, and travelling. Our reasons for wanting to house sit are two fold. 1) For opportunities to stay in Auckland for longer term visits to see our family who we really miss and 2) We absolutely love exploring our beautiful country, but as living costs increase it's becoming harder and harder to have holidays away. We usually stay in air bnbs, but house sitting would help us out immensely. We are home owners in Wanganui and we have also extensively used air bnbs to take our girls on mini breaks away. All our reviews from staying in different homes have been A+. We also personally keep a very tidy, organised, clean home in Wanganui. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently two cats), we love animals! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. We look forward to hearing from you, meeting your adorable furry friends and caring for your home while you are away.

Hi there I'm Donna I am a mature single parent of two grown children, a homeowner, a home renovator and a genuine person who loves animals especially cats and dogs. I recently lost my amazing dog so am loving looking after someone elses as it is too soon for me to replace her. My focus is primarily on your animals and am happy giving medicine or accommodating their special needs. Over the years I have had a variety of animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles. I have worked on a farm with cattle, sheep and chickens. When I stay somewhere I respect the owner's belongings and privacy and like to leave it exactly as I found it. I like to keep fit - I'm a Les Mills devotee. So am fit and able to look after your loved ones. I'm an outdoors person and love biking, running and going on walks. I especially love the sea. I see housesitting as an excuse to leave work behind, see more of my own country and spend time with animals. ..... Donna

Hello, my name is Joyce but everyone calls me Joy and I have been housesitting for the last 18 months. I retired in 2013 and had been traveling internationally as a volunteer worker at summer camps in Australia, America, and England until the Covid lockdowns. I started housesitting so I could enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer and discover all the little nooks and crannies while out walking pets and talking to the locals that one tends to miss while traveling from A to B in a vehicle I have been house/pet sitting in and around Christchurch and have had several callbacks from earlier sits looking after dogs, cats, and hens. I would now like to take my time to explore and enjoy other regions around NZ. Please feel free to look at my references and contact any of my referees, who will be more than happy to discuss with you, the wonderful times I have had house/pet sitting for them as well. Please be assured that I make a point of not taking pictures of any of the homes and pets I have sat at because to me that is someone else's sanctuary and is not to be taken lightly. I look forward to hearing from you in the not-too-distant future when I can be given the privilege to care for your home and the precious animal members of your family.

Hi there We are just entering that wonderful new season of life where we are ready to tone down everyday stress and focus on the good life. Hugo is an expert in aviation and the handyman extraordinaire who loves to fix things wherever he goes and Lou is a semi retired teacher. Our family pets and home have always been very important to us so we would look after your fur babies and home as if they were our own. We have just returned to NZ after an exciting posting overseas which has given us the travel bug so we are keen to explore more of New Zealand and would love to help care for your pets and home while you are away.

Hi there, My name is Jeanette and I am 62 years old. I have been temping recently (well for the last 4 years) which put me in a position where I could no longer afford to keep my house. So I have sold it and am currently house sitting. In 2017 I had to put my 15 yr old labrador down and am holding off getting another dog until I have a permanent home again. However I miss having animals to come home to and love gardening so felt that house sitting would enable me to fill both of these passions. Housesitting will also enable me to save money while I am on a reduced income to build up my reserves to buy another house. I was raised in Christchurch, Lower Hutt and Dunedin before returning to Christchurch at the end of my school years. I had guinea pigs and budgies as pets and a dog as I got older. More recently I have had a black Labrador whom I had to have put down last September at the grand old age of 15. I am a responsible and respectful person who wants to help out families by looking after their property and pets while they are away. I am also very friendly and trustworthy and your pets will enjoy my company just as much as I will enjoy theirs. I am very happy to indulge myself in pulling weeds and lawn mowing as a form of therapy when house sitting if required and am reasonably knowledgeable about looking after gardens. I am very respectful of other people’s property and live quietly. I am not into having large parties but enjoy having a few friends around for dinner. I would love to meet you and your pets and hope that you will consider me as your housesitter.

We are a semi-retired couple who have lived with and cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, chooks, goats, sheep, and horses. We are fit, active, resourceful and capable individuals, and 'mature' enough to have experienced just about everything life could throw at you. We don't currently have fur-babies as we have just downsized and are now temporary urbanites. I am a keen gardener, fastidious housekeeper, and lover of the outdoors. I have also been known to do a bit of cooking on the side. We are looking for our slice of paradise to call home, so house/pet sitting is a great way for us to travel the country while we search for that ‘little’ corner of Aotearoa that makes our hearts sing. Having done this for a few months now, we consider ourselves to be well travelled, seasoned house sitters. Your lovely home and much loved pets are guaranteed the best of care, though we absolutely refuse to fall in love with them. Glowing personal references can be supplied should they be required. Cheers, Rosie & Mike

Hi everyone I’m an easy going 63 yr old single guy returned to NZ after 20yrs in Australia 2 yrs ago. I have two grown up boys and two lovely grandchildren who I love to bits. I worked the last 12yrs in Australia as a prison officer mainly in Alice Springs NT, and as a detainee officer at Villawood Detention Centre in Sydney. I enjoy a country lifestyle, but can mix it ok with the townies having lived in Sydney. My reason for house sitting is, I’ve just sold my house on the Kaikoura coast and will be free to travel to any part of the south island at short notice. I’ve always wanted to house sit. Being a typical Virgo I’m very clean and tidy. I’ve got a good work ethic and a can do attitude to life. I’m a huge animal lover, having grown up in Otago on a dairy farm in my early days having both Dogs and Cats as pets which continued into my adult life, to being an orchardist in the Nelson region for 22yrs. I’ve always been a real sports nut, with rugby being my passion having played and coached at representative for my union. I also like my golf and lawn bowls nowadays. I think I’d be an asset to anyone wanting a reliable honest person to House sit for them. This is a first for me Housesitting, I’m not hiding that fact. But you have to start somewhere. If you want a good honest person to look after your property and pets, I think I’d be a great fit.

If you choose me as your housesitter you'll be able to go away knowing that your pets and house will be well looked after .As a pet owner I'm well aware of how attached you become and realise the amount of trust you are putting in a house sitter .

I am an animal lover, affectionate and responsible person. English is my second language but I can follow instructions without problem. In my country of origin (Chile) I have worked for 11 years as a veterinarian, therefore I am the right person to care for and accompany your pets. I know how stressful it is for them to change their routines, which is why I can take care of them at home while you are away. See you

Hi! My name is Ashley Rohloff and I'm a 20 year old uni student going into my third year studying a BSc majoring in Physiology and Psychology and the University of Auckland. I pride myself on being very honest and reliable, as well as highly respectful - I commit full dedication to every job and can provide assurance that I will take the exact same approach to house and pet sitting - I understand the magnitude of leaving your home and pets in someone else's hands and would like to reassure the owners I'm a great person for the job. For my first 2 years of university I lived and worked within the first year halls of residence but have moved home to (very) south Auckland for my final year - I'm finding the commute strenuous and being heavily involved in many extracurriculars and my work typically being central I would love to move back into the city, get experience house sitting and be able to meet my financial goals for the year! I have lots of work experience in different fields and positions, as well as being blessed with many academic/ schooling roles and achievements so can provide a wide range of references to show my character and commitment! I have little experience house sitting but having grown up rurally, horse riding most of my life and being an avid Ag-Day participant I have lots of experience caring for pets and livestock. A homeowner can expect a very happy and bubbly, enthusiastic but highly responsible and trustworthy sitter who can ensure utmost care taken for homes and pets alike.

You can be sure your house and pets are in great, trustworthy hands with a police constable (Shannon) and a self employed graphic designer (Karen). We love exploring different parts of New Zealand and love animals so would welcome the opportunity to look after your house and pets. We are both non smokers, in our 40s and don't have children so have a lot of flexibility to travel when we choose. We are experienced cat owners to 2 pampered pets but also love dogs and would love to look after those as well.

Hi, my name is Michelle. House sitting really appeals to me, it gives me variety from my day to day schedule . An opportunity to visit different areas, towns and suburbs, that perhaps I haven't yet experienced. It is also like having a holiday away from home. Over the years I (and my two girls, now grown up and moved out) have had many pets, including cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, and birds. Working with the Housesitting Company has given me a wealth of dog sitting experience. I am an extremely house proud person. I own my own home. I am fit and walk and cycle every day. I love the sea, and the beach. I am an honest, trustworthy and tidy person whom would love to be considered to care for your home and your pets. Thank you for taking the time to consider my profile and I hope to meet with you. Regards Michelle

Kia ora koutou, My name is Beate (pronounced Bee-ah-ta), I'm 31 years old and currently live in Taranaki, although am looking to house sit in different parts of the country! I'm a Customer Support Specialist for Education Perfect, and my previous career was in Urban Planning. I am a warm, caring and kind person. I consider myself to be honest, trustworthy and respectful. I am interested in house sitting as a way to travel around NZ and save money! I work from home full-time, so house sitting is a great opportunity to look after other people's homes while I work. I have experience house sitting for friends and family and have looked after cats and dogs before (have also had these pets growing up). A homeowner can expect me to keep their house clean and tidy, look after pets and treat their home with the same respect I would my own. In my free time, I like to see friends and family, go on walks, spend time at the beach and surf. I'm trying to read more books this year and be more creative! Any questions, feel free to contact me! Nga mihi nui ki a koutou, Beate Weir

Hello! I'm Rocio a 26 year old chilean girl. This is my first time applying to be a house sitter, I would like to know new places around New Zealand and what better than living an unique experience. I don't have a formal experience with house sitting and caring pets but I am a very clean and tidy person, so you don't have to worry about the cleaning of your home. Since I was 0 years old I have been surrounded by pets, mostly cats, dogs and cows. If you choose me, you will find a reliable, safe person who loves animals, and who needs to be in contact with pets to be happier :)

Hi, my name is Petria and I am working in a job where I can work remotely from anywhere in the country so I am looking to explore more of New Zealand by housesitting! I am from NZ but only moved back a couple years ago after a long stint in Australia. I have done some housesitting previously and have been housesitting through NZ for the past few months and enjoy being able to experience new places without having a find a hotel and also enjoy giving someone else the peace of mind their place and pets are being looked after while they are away. I am clean and tidy and love to have some form of routine in my day to day so your pets routines shouldnt be too disrupted. I have looked after my own animals in the past as well as housemates pets, friends pets while they are away and also while I have housesat. You can expect to come back to a nice tidy house with everything the way you left it if I was your housesitter :)

Hi I have lived in Hamilton, New Zealand all my life and I am married to Nick for 33 years and we have grown up children, a daughter and two sons and I thought it would be fun to housesit as a way to see NZ. Our daughter is married and living in Christchurch and we have one grandchild. I enjoy walking and going to daily gym classes and my husband enjoys long bike rides. We are very active. I managed a house we own as an Airbnb for over two years managing bookings per night so I know what is involved in caring for a home. I have dealt with many different nationalities and many situations that arise from having a home on Airbnb. I ensured our Airbnb house was clean and well presented and that the garden was appealing and well managed. I have always had pets those being cats, dogs, chickens, canaries, goldfish - although we do not presently have a pet as sadly our beautiful 14 year old dog Bosco passed away this year My husband is experienced in managing livestock as he was brought up on a farm. I know how to care for animals giving them time, exercise, fresh water and good food. I am also aware of the signs of when a pet is feeling unwell and when to take to the vet. If I was your house sitter I would update you on your home and your pets with regular photos and messages if you wanted this and . if there were any problems I would consult with you. Thankyou

HI, I love animals and enjoy taking care of them, as I run a small farm with my family I know how important it is to have your animals cared for in their own environment while you are away. I have experience looking after neighbours dogs, cats, horses, sheep as well as on our own farm we have a range of cattle , poultry and sheep. goats and horses. I have a farming back ground and looking after your home and animals while you are away is very appealing way to visit a new area while providing you with the reassurances that your animals are in good safe hands. I like to send updates on how the animals are as it is very reassuring to know they are OK when you are away from them .

Mature, sensible professional (semi retired) with partner, both with love for animals. Remko (originally from Holland back in 1972) and Caroline (from China). Both non smokers, enjoy clean living with clean criminal international and local records. We met in Malaysia while working as volunteers with cats and dogs for SPCA in early 2015. After that we did a period of volunteers with tigers in Thailand. Highlight of our lives. Great experience to be so close and intimate with a wild animals. Few scars but lived to tell all the tales. After we worked with them, cats and dogs are so easy. Next, hoping to spend some time with elephants. We have done home sitting in NZ as well as offshore in Europe and China as well as a 4 week stay in Malaysia. Although we like to travel, live clean and appreciate clean houses so your home will be looked after. Although not fantastic green fingers, we will happily mow your grass and pull a few weeds as required. As we both still work part time, appreciate wi-fi so we can still receive emails etc. Sky is not important cause we rather be outside enjoying open air as against watching TV. Also since 2017, a volunteer firefighter originally with Otorohanga but would consider helping any local volunteer brigade. Rem has in the past also looked after NZ Police dogs while their handler has gone on holiday so the average dog should be relatively easy. Happy to walk the dogs and where possible, take them to the beach if possible. Hopefully have secure parking for the BMW as well? Since Feb 2017 we have lived in Otorohanga and have looked after various local and surrounding properties. A 550 acre grazing farm and a very upmarket lifestyle house. Although it’s been fun here, we are ready for another area from now on. Long term housesits preferred but will consider short options as well. Yuling now lives in Wellington full time while Rem commutes.

Hi My name is Susan. I am an Aucklander and I love to travel when I can. I grew up always having cats and dogs as part of the family. When I was married and we bought our first house, having pets was a top priority. After 3 years we had 3 cats (Tabby, Tina and Kate) and 2 Beagles (Tony and Lucy). I have mainly worked in Computer and Project environments but after studying one year part time for an Animal Care certificate I worked 5 days a week in my normal job and 1 day at a well established and reputable Vet clinic in Remuera. By this stage I was divorced and the family consisted of the beagles, Tabby and me. I have also been a volunteer kennel assistant at SPCA. I am comfortable giving medication to pets and have looked after cats, dogs, birds, fish and rats. All of my animals have lived a happy and long life. Tony suffered from cancer later in his life but with care and chemo from VSG and at home he got a new lease of life and was with me for another 2 years of quality time. I no longer have pets of my own so I would really love the opportunity to care for yours, either outside of Auckland when I ready for a break or in Auckland for a 'staycation' I am mature, responsible, respectful and resourceful. My house sitting to-date has been through word of mouth or through Housesitters.co.nz and I haven't met an animal yet that I haven't got on with and enjoyed. Please check my references and feel free to contact my referees. I would love to meet you and your pets and have the opportunity to care for them and your home. Thanks Susan

I am a budding writer (at this stage for pleasure), travelling around the country gathering inspiration for stories, house and pet sitting is a perfect fit to help me to continue writing. My preference is for house sits that are of longer duration, and will consider other opportunities as well. As a previous home and pet owner, I know how important it is to have a home looked lived in and pets well cared for. My green thumb is not too bad either. I am happy to say "Hi" to your neighbours if you are friendly with them so they are happy with a new person in their neighbourhood as well. I have experience with cats and dogs, chickens the odd fish and one snail... I am very happy to have a pet curled up on my lap - if they want to! I will be writing from home, so there most of the day to keep pets company and well loved. I am an easy going, friendly person who is clean and tidy and appreciates a clean and tidy home to sit. I am security conscious and happy to water your plants as well. I look forward to meeting with you via Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger Video Calling (or if you Zoom, send me a link) to chat further. Current dates available for 2023: 7th November to 22nd December Warmest, Tracey

Hello, my name is Nelly and my partner’s name is Mario, we are a young couple with 3 years of relationship and together we´ve been traveling around all Mexico and at this moment we are in New Zealand knowing their culture. The reason why we are interested in being a housesitting, is because it’s a great opportunity for us to keep knowing new places, traveling and at the same time make a exchange for our services and have the responsibility for taking care of a house impeccable as if it were our own home, and also have the time to continue developing our online projects and saving some money in our expenses during the tine we are in NZ. Mario has the experience as a housesitting, for 2 years he was in charge of the administration care and cleanness (cleanness made by himself) of one in Merida Yucatan, Mexico, that has 5 rooms and at that time the rooms were rented for students. As a couple we had have the experience of renting a house and a department which we always kept impeccable and with the best care possible. We both consider ourselves as animal lovers, We had the responsibility of taking care of several dogs belonging to family and friends for a few weeks, due to the trust they have in us for the good care we give them, likewise, we have rescued a dog in the jungle of Riviera Maya, Mexico, who has a disability in one of her legs. We provide her a home and care, her name is Mochis and she is now on the care of Mario Parents, she is a very educated dog, we miss her a lot. You can expect from us complete responsibility and love for your home and your animals as if they were our own, considering and respecting 100% the tasks that will be assigned to us.

Allan: retired teacher, and Jenny: retired pharmacist and administrator. We are an active retired couple, reliable and trustworthy, involved with several of our local community groups and activities. We lived and worked in Christchurch for 22 years, before moving to Papamoa 7 years ago. We have owned our own home for most of our 48 years of marriage, and have always taken pride in keeping both house and garden tidy and well maintained. We are genuine animal lovers and have had our own pets, mostly dogs, for all of that time. As our sons were growing up, our household pets also included a cockatiel, a black-hooded rat, and 2 goldfish! We have also frequently looked after a neighbour's diabetic cat, including giving daily insulin injections. As we are retired, we have more time to devote to your pets and your home. After our last elderly dog passed away 5 years ago, we really missed having a dog in our home, so became approved volunteer puppy boarders for Blind/Low Vision puppies, and are still enjoying providing this service. Allan's parents were dairy farmers, and he loved farm life. He is an enthusiastic golfer and gardener, a Justice of the Peace, and volunteers for the Papamoa Community patrol. Jenny is also a keen gardener, enjoys both an exercise/social group and a craft group, volunteers regularly at Good Neighbour Food Rescue, and loves being involved with a Music and Movement group for preschoolers and their Mums. We both belong to Probus, and are also rostered on for several roles at our church. As we have friends and family in Christchurch and various parts of the North Island, we are excited about the prospect of house sitting when we travel to those areas, as well as when we explore new areas that we haven't yet been to. We really hope that you will contact us so that we can look after your home as though it were our own and give your pets the best possible TLC. If they require medication, we are happy to administer that as well. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, my name is Olya. I usually start my mornings at 6 am with a coffee and a stroll on the beach. I love exploring nature, but I believe I am a city gal at heart. Being able to work from anywhere and having the ability to choose the hours that I work gives me the flexibly of where I want to be. I love animals and I would relish the opportunity to look after your fur baby like it's my own. If you do not have pets, I am happy to look after your home. I am reliable, caring, extremely clean and respectful. I look forward to hearing from you.

Retired, non smoker, healthy, vaccinated (3). Hi, I’m Dorothy, 68. I am retired during the 30th year in last job. I live in the Hauraki area (Paeroa) and I like walking, gardening, food, being with friends and family, having pets as good company and am a champion for SPCA and WAP as animals need our help as well. I was raised on a dairy farm, lots of animals and pets while growing up and I live on a dairy farm at the moment, have been house sitting for my ex-colleagues as well for the last couple of years. This included cats, dogs, sheep, cattle, chooks and an eel (enjoyed that). They have rebooked me again and again and I am happy to help them. One of the house sits was in the hills, very private and tranquil which I enjoyed the peace and serenity there. I have also done for H/S sits in Tauranga, Papamoa and Wellington, their references are attached. Lately I have been helping out friends/family with sitting for their friends in different parts of NZ. It would be a pleasure to look after your home and/or pets. I would be happy to send photos/updates while you are away (e-mail or text only, not involved with social media sorry), so you can relax knowing they are being loved and cared for. It was a joke at ex-work that I liked things tidy and clean. Please check my references (refs recently have been verbal only, all nice to hear though) and happy for you to contact them if you wish to check how it went. Bye for now. Dorothy

Hi our names are Maryna and Neil, We are close to retiring and feel it is our time to discover the rest of the South Island in New Zealand and while doing that, do what we enjoy and that is looking after peoples pets and a little gardening while we at it. We immigrated here 11 years ago and have been living in the Catlins ever since so love to explore . As we do not have animals of our own (not by choice) this will also give us a great opportunity to enjoy other people's pets while we are on breaks. We are reliable and trustworthy and are managing a holiday park in the Catlins. This is a 24/7 entity and being in hospitality means we know what is expected from cleanliness and client communication. Neil is a handyman and extremely keen garderner so finds himself very busy most of the time. We both are pet lovers and with previous housesitting experience in London, South Africa and in the Catlins, we have done a lot of dog walking, cuddling cats and even looked after pigs, horses and chickens. We both love fishing and used to take our doggies with us (back in South Africa) so they could have a good run around, and when given the chance they would steal some of our catch! It would be our privilege to help home owners out by looking after their homes and taking care of their pets ( with lots of love) putting their minds at ease. We love to update owners at any time as to how things are going back home. Please feel free to contact our referees and ask any further questions you may want answered.

I, Caroline Mundy, is a recently retired Civil/Structural engineer. I was born and raised in Malaysia, but went to Britain for my tertiary studies. I graduated from Cardiff University with an honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and later gained a Masters degree in the same subject at Sheffield University. I am married to Chris Mundy, an editor at NZQA, Wellington. Chris and I grew up with pets in our families, and from this we gained a life-long love of animals. Over the years, we have had many different animals as pets, including a sheep which eventually died of old age!, a golden retriever, a duckling, rabbits, a weta and doves, all of which were much loved by us and our two children. We also adopted the school's cockatoo and axolotl during school holidays. We took our friend's cat to be with our family whilst they worked overseas. Sadly, our adorable all white cat named Pearl has passed away and we no longer have any pets. So, it would be really lovely to be able to look after someone else's pets. As we no longer have children living with us, we have more freedom to explore and travel to new places, which we both love doing. It also enables us to take a break from our rather busy lives by housesitting every now and then. Having pets with our accommodation is an added bonus to us. We are responsible and respectful people who want to help other families have peace of mind whilst they are away. We are friendly, trustworthy, do not smoke nor drink alcohol, are not party people and are Christians. Please look through our references and feel free to contact our referees, who will be more than happy to vouch for our character and our ability to look after pets and homes. We have joined the House Sitting Company not too long ago and have not done many house sits because we prefer weekends or short sits. This is because Chris still works full time and he would like to avoid taking too much leave for house sits where possible. We are both fully vaccinated. Yours sincerely Caroline and Chris Mundy References Graham Worthington Mike Fearn

Kia Ora, My name is Marama Mitchell and my Partner is Jack Baigent. We have two children Tui is 7 years old and Kahu is 6 years old. I am a physiotherapist and Jack is a web designer and videographer. We all live in Tawa, Wellington. Jack, myself and the kids all love the outdoors, going for walks, parks and the beach. We enjoy exercising and enjoy walking so walking a dog(s) would not feel like a chore but would be welcomed company. Jack and I are responsible and reliable individuals who are excited about the opportunity to care for your home and pets while you are away. Jack and I have grown up with family cats and dogs and know how they are important members of the family. We have also looked after a variety of animals at Tui's Montessori pre-school. We don't have room for animals at our house but would love the children to experience what that would be like by caring for your pets. During our time living and studying in Auckland we used to house sit for a family friend who lived in Herne Bay. This included which looking after their dog Cappuccino. We loved it! We lived in a small apartment in the city, so it felt like such a treat staying in a Herne Bay house with a pool. We have never forgotten how special it was to look after someones home and pet and get the opportunity to explore a new area of Auckland. We would love to be able to share similar experiences with our children. I am confident that Jack and I can provide an excellent service. We are reliable, responsible and friendly. We will treat your home and pets as if they were our own. We are comfortable caring for pets of all sizes and comfortable caring for homes of all sizes. I look forward to hearing from you! Hello homeowners! My name is Sonja, I have lived in Christchurch for most of my life but am also very familiar with traveling around the world and our beautiful Aotearoa! I currently work full-time Monday – Friday in the CBD & am a part of many fitness clubs around town, my time for caring for your home and wonderful pets is very flexible & reliable. I do pride myself on being ultra-neat, tidy, and respectful of others' space, wellness, and noise. I have had a life of my own pets. Including Dogs (big and small) cats ( indoor and out), fish, turtles, and a couple of birds! From Pups and kittens to rescue pets also :) My current situation is that I'm saving for a house and living at home, hence the housesitting option being great for me, at this point in time. But at most I do love house pets and the overwhelming love and joy that they bring to our lives, they deserve the world and I have a place in my heart for all animals. I am available for short and long stays, I have my own vehicle and am always contactable by phone or email. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you.

Hello there, My name is Donna and I'm a 60 year old mother of three children. I grew up in the Hutt Valley and have spent most of my life in the Wellington/Wairarapa area. For the past 10 years, I've been a healthcare assistance at a number of retirement villages in the Wellington region. While not working, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, going for bush walks and reading a good novel. I've previously done the odd house sit for friends and family, however with my children having all now left home and coming up to retirement, I'm keen to look at housesitting more frequently. I love animals and our family has all grown up with both cats and dogs. Since a young age, we owned family dogs with the first being Budda who was a Lab x Dobberman and the most recent being Bella who was a Border Collie x Irish Settler. I understand it can be stressful for pet/house owners when they go away to not have someone watching over their homes or keeping their pets company. I get a real buzz out of helping people and providing reassurance that when they go away, they're pets/house will be in good hands. I'm aware that all pets have their own individual needs and am respectful and accepting of these. I consider myself to be a reliable, responsible and trustworthy person. I can't wait to look after your pets and house and look after them as if they were my own. Chat soon. Donna

I have the utmost integrity while maintaining a solid moral compass & set of values. I am also an avid & long-term part time student & I am in the throes of completing my PhD qualification by 2024. I/we are interested in house sitting because I love travel & visiting new places after having travelled & worked overseas in many countries since the mid 1990s. I have house sat for many personal friends & work colleagues in the past including pet minding including a few housesitting assignments with the Housesitting Company now under my belt ranging from 10 days up to 6 weeks (which I am undertaking as I write this). The range of animals is also extensive & has included dogs, cats, goats & even kuni kuni pigs while I have also been charged with administering medicine. I come from a rural & farming background & so I am very comfortable & accustomed to being around animals of all shapes & sizes & descriptions. My hobbies include study, travel, health & fitness, fishing, diving, hunting & most outdoor & water activities. You can rest assured that any required tasks of me during a house sit will be fully complied with including pet minding & that your property will be in exactly the same pristine condition as you left it with all agreed rules respected. My partner, Evangeline, flies in & out from/to overseas as she is working offshore & so there may be the odd occasion when she will accompany me on a house sit if she is NZ at the time but I will advise you should this be the case.

As a previous home owner I understand how important it is to care after a home. Furnishing a home can be costly so I always make sure when house sitting that I'm always cautious of peoples belongings. There's nothing worse than a carpet stain!! But I make sure this sort of thing never happens. I'm a single 40 year old business owner and before getting back into the property market I've decided to do housesitting for the rest of the year. I've looked after both cats and dogs in the past. I am very tidy and respectful and love animals! Open to any questions you may have about me! Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there! I'm very new at this, but have lived alone for the past few years. We are an easygoing couple, who like to spend our offdays hiking, cycling and surfing. I'm a PE teacher and work in the outdoor sector, she's studying to become the best police woman in town. So, trying to live as healthy as possible, love cooking some nice meals. We're pretty tidy as we can't handle the mess. My mom's dust allergic so the cleaning I got from her, haha. "If the kitchen is dirty, your whole house is dirty": is one of her favourite sayings. We (he)did have pets at home: 8 cats, 4 dogs, some chickens and even 2 goats, were our guests ones. I loved them all! And I miss them. I have experience in gardening, since I did it as a holiday-job and gained the trust of my parents back in the days, to do it at home as well! Only straight lines, satisfaction! If you want me to fix something, I can do that for you, handyman, did a lot of renovation and maintenance on our house. She grew up on an orchard, always helping her dad. Driving the tractor, forklift, mower. Volunteering at the fire department is her main hobby. Kind regards!

Hello my name is Dave! I am a very healthy and fit retired builder/joiner. For 30 years I ran my own building and joinery company. I have been living in Australia and have recently returned as the heat was too much for me! My lovely wife passed away a few years ago after 47 years of marriage. As I am on my own I feel housesitting would be a wonderful way for me to meet new people and see a little bit of New Zealand. House sitting is such a wonderful win-win for all parties involved and since I have no ties, I am able to have the pleasure of helping homeowners go away, care for their beloved pets and home, whilst being able to explore my own 'back yard'. House sitting will also allow me to decide more of the region of New Zealand I want to purchase a property in, in the future. I am currently living with my twin sister in Paraparaumu and helping her look after her two Jack Russells. I have three sons and four wonderful grandchildren. I have always owned German Shepherds throughout my life as they are my favourite breed and such a great natured dog. I have also owned cats as well. I am a keen gardener and also enjoy fishing and snooker. Thank you for taking the time to consider my profile and I believe that with my experience throughout life, I would be of great help to any homeowner needing care for their pets and home. Warmest, David.

Hi there, My name is Laura, I am originally from Brazil and have been living in New Zealand for almost 8 years now. I am a digital marketer passionate about communicating/connecting with people. I am well-organized and understand the importance of maintaining a clean and tidy living space. I believe that a neat environment contributes to a sense of peace and well-being, both for you and your pet. I'm a responsible and reliable person with a love for animals. I had a few pets when growing up, including a pitbull crossbreed, and she was our best friend and companion at home, so I understand the love and care they require. I have lived in a flat for 4.5 years with an amazing cat called Pango. He was my daily dose of joy, and I loved snuggling with him in bed. Even though we now live in separate houses, I continue to look after him and house-sit for my friends whenever needed. During my time off, you'll find me exercising, enjoying the outdoors, reading, watching some movies or catching up with friends. I value the balance between personal well-being and social connections. I'm here to bring you and your pet a fun and stress-free house-sitting experience. You can count on me to keep your house in order and provide plenty of belly rubs and playtime for your furry companion. I'll make sure your pet feels right at home while you're away and that they receive the same level of love and attention, making sure they feel safe and loved in their familiar surroundings. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything else you'd like to know. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Warm regards, Laura.

Greetings Home and Pet Owners, Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Norman Ronald Mcfadyen. I was born and raised in Northumberland. My father and his ancestors came from the Isle of Mull, my mother’s from Northern Ireland. My accent is hard to place, as I have travelled extensively in my life and have had to learn to modify my accent over the years, to be comprehensible to others. I am a very friendly and gregarious soul, who loves the company of both people and animals. I have worked in mental health for over 30 years; initially, as a psychiatric nurse and later as a mental health clinician and therapist. I have also worked in performing arts for nearly as long, as a professional actor mainly. These days, I combine my love of theatre and education to teach others some successful strategies, to navigate the bumpy paths of life. I do a little bit of homeschool teaching and I am an instructor at the New Zealand Stage and Screen combat school in Birkenhead. I came back home to New Zealand in March 2020, after having lived back in the UK for a couple of years, looking after my father. I came back to Auckland for my son’s wedding and found myself marooned due to the Covid lockdown. My father died shortly after I arrived and therefore I have no need to go back in the UK. My life and living is very flexible as a single man of 54 years of age. I enjoy playing my ukulele and singing every day and have a successful Christmas business, portraying Father Christmas himself. I have had pets all my life, both cats and dogs, when living in my own property. Since being marooned here in 2020, I have missed them dearly. I am not in a position to have my own pets, due to uncertainty going forward. I would be more than delighted to spend my time with your loved ones in the meantime. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Kind Regards, Norman

I have been living in Auckland for the last 8 years and would like to discover more of the country while saving for a house by house-sitting. I have been looking after all sorts of cats and a few breeds of dogs : poodles, husky, fox terrier, labradors... I think I am nice and tidy person, very caring and I also love gardening! I have been house-sitting a few houses in Auckland for friends and relatives recently and actually love it! Apparently they are super happy too ;-)

Hi, my name is Morgan. I am a friendly, gentle and caring individual who enjoys business/ property investing, reading and coffee. I am a property manager who enjoys houses and caring for them. I would love a change of scenery and to help fund my new start up business where I can save on rent. I often house sit my mums place when I check on a couple properties I manage in Christchurch and thoroughly enjoy it (I reside in Auckland). I adore animals and caring for them especially being outdoors. In the past I have had a cat and my mum has a dog so having pets around is very comfortable for me. I like to keep the property immaculate and to ensure all tasks are completed and animals are happy. I enjoy living an active, clean and positive way of life and would love to be your next house sitter. Look forward to connecting soon.

Life is one big adventure! I like to be kept busy; I love to travel, discovering out of the way places, meeting new people & embracing life. But my family pets have always been a top priority. House sitting offers some exciting opportunities, but more specifically it will provide me with the pleasures of 'adopting' your family pets, if only for a short time. (And, I certainly miss not having my own pet to care for). There has always been a cat or dog (or both) in the house and then there have been the children's tropical fish, German rat, guinea pigs, rabbits, and birds! We've even had a couple of cats 'adopt' us! I also volunteered for 18 months at a bird rescue centre a few years ago which was a very rewarding experience. From a young age until her early 20s, I also used to spend a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm where they had a dairy herd, goats and a chicken run. Animals have always featured in my life. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful House & pet sitting opportunities over the past 3 years (with a global house sitting company) looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds - most of these sits were while I was based in the UK. I'm now cutting back on my time away from NZ and, after hearing very positive comments about The Housesitting Company, have decided to join so that I can focus more on NZ sits. I'd be delighted to look after and love your family pets and I will take excellent care of your home. It's a responsibility that I take seriously and I hope you might consider me to look after your precious fur babies and your home while you are away.

Hello, I am a friendly 20 year old woman living in North Christchurch with my family. I am a university student and work part time during the day with children. I have good experience caring for pets and live with some at my family home. I am looking for an opportunity to get some independence. I am personable, local, trust-worthy, responsible and I do not drink alcohol, smoke/vape or do any drugs. I am very good with communication and genuine. I especially have experience with caring for indoor cats as my family owns a beautiful wee blind cat who we love dearly.

We live in a motorhome and have housesat at a few homes which has been very successful. John has bred and shown dogs for 9 years and I grew up and had cats over many years. We have had positive feedback from homeowners as we have kept gardens tidy and get satisfaction from leaving a home cleaner than when we arrived. We keep good health and love exploring new areas.I am known to walk for many miles and we have our own bikes. We have only ever had dogs and cats but wouldn't be averse to looking after something different.

Hello, we are a middle aged, tidy and responsible professional couple (teachers). We look forward to house sitting during our NZ wide travel plans from December through to April 2024, after 3 years away working. We love animals and between us have a wide range of pet care experience. We are non-drinkers and non-smokers and will endeavor to take the best care of any house, property and pets we are charged with. Both of us have cared for a range of pets throughout our lives including cats, dogs, turtles and fish and more and we will care for your home and pets as if they are our own for the duration of a sit. We like to walk and explore our natural surroundings, listen to and play/ sing music, plants and gardening and cooking great food. We enjoy our own company and like to relax and converse and believe we'd make great conscientious and trustworthy house-sitters . Thanks and kind regards, Brent & Ajeng

Kia ora! I am Zisa. I am a decent professional, in my mid-40s, a registered teacher and guidance counselor in the Philippines. I was an international school teacher between 2000-2008 (Thailand, China and Indonesia). I am a sociable person but mostly I enjoy quiet and solitude. I am a registered secondary teacher here in New Zealand. I have completed my Teacher Education Refresh programme with the University of Auckland Epsom campus. I finished my pre-service teacher training at Macleans College last May 2023. Currently, I am a full time Food Nutrition & Technoology teacher at Macleans College. My son is a Year 1 student at Cockle Bay School. When I was a teacher in Beijing, friends asked me to house sit and care for their pets and I was happy with the experience. In the Philippines, I have Australian friends who asked me to house sit for them also. I am confident to say that I will look after your home as my own and consider you as a family member who went on a vacation. Growing up in the farm, we have a lot of pets and domestic animals - cats, dogs, chickens, cows, ducks, fish, goats, geese, turkeys, horse. When I was in my teens, my dad thought that the best way to teach me about responsibility was by letting me take care of birds - love birds and other breeds. During my late 20s up to now that I have my own family, I have become a human to cats. I wanted to have dog/s also but my husband thinks we cannot provide the ideal home for dogs. During the pandemic, we got some guppy fish for our garden. It just feels warm and homey when you have pets. My family would be happy to house/pet sit for you!

Hi there! We have sold our lifestyle block, dream home and animals, preferring to travel and the company of new friends. We are currently undecided about our final destination but looking forward to the journey. We resigned from our jobs in November 2015 and have spent the last 4 years + travelling the world and house sitting. We have enjoyed the hospitality of many kind, like minded people across the world, have wonderful memories and enjoyed finding our way in new lands and communities. We love life, people, animals, good wine, good coffee, good food and great company. Our pet-caring experience is extensive and varied - dogs (large & small, rescue), cats, fish, ponies, sheep, quails, chickens etc. If you have pets, be assured that we truly appreciate the security they feel with a familiar schedule/exercise/playtime routine and promise you that your customs, requirements and feeding schedule will be adhered to. However, we know from experience, it's not just animals who can suffer from separation anxiety! To remedy this we send regular updates of your pets. We are practical people and as experienced house sitters are used to dealing with a wide variety of issues - blown fuses, power outages, water issues, pools, security, etc. In summary: - - We offer honesty, reliability and commitment. - We guarantee security-conscious, respectful care of your property. - We assure you that your pets will have plenty of attention and loving company whilst you are away. We are always keen to Skype, Whatsapp or Messenger to get to know you and answer any important questions.. We very much look forward to hearing from you. Police checks and additional international references are available on request. Warmest, Jenny and Peter.

We are a family of 4+1 - Mum, Dad, 2x daughters aged 16 and18 years (our 18 yo will most likely not join us). We would like to have a holiday with the comforts of home including a pet to come home to. We have a Mini Schnauzer named Ollie who is 3 years old. We walk him daily on the beach or park and socialise him with other dogs as much as possible. My sister also has a Mini Schnauzer x Lowchen so they would dogsit for us while we are away. We love dogs and cats and would treat them like we do our own. Chris was brought up with cats and his family and a few friends own cats which we have fed and looked after while they have been away over the years. If you choose us as a sitter you can be sure we will take good care of your pets and your house/garden like it is our own.

Steve and I have been married for almost 42 years and are semi-retired parents and grandparents. We are young at heart and enjoy spending time with our family, grandchildren, and friends. Steve is a part time IT contractor and often works from home. I also work part time, as a self employed private house cleaner. Working part time gives us both the freedom to enjoy not only our hobbies and interests but the grandchildren as well - we often pick them up from school and spend time together. Steve & I both have several different hobbies and interests that we enjoy when we have the chance. I enjoy reading, listening to music, knitting, English paper piecing, hand quilting, and cardmaking. Steve has a great interest in NZ Railway History, railway modelling, listening to music, and gardening. We both enjoy an active lifestyle - anything that involves walking - as well as visiting local garage sales and markets. We have housesat for family and cared for their pets, and we have had cats & birds almost all of our married life. We have been dog sitting our grandchildrens’ wee dog on several occasions over the last 2 years. As a homeowner you can expect us to totally respect and care for your home and property and as a private housecleaner and a self confessed perfectionist you would be coming home to a clean and tidy house at the end of your time away.

We are an engineer and a nurse, originally from England and now New Zealand Residents. We moved to NZ (Tauranga) in 2021 to chase the lifestyle and natural beauty of this wonderful country. We have travelled around New Zealand seeing the sites and doing as many hikes/walks as possible as this is our shared pastime. We have been housesitting since 2022 and have loved the opportunity to care for so many lovely animals as we missed our family's pets back in the UK. We have recently returned to NZ after spending time back in the UK. We have decided to relocate and settle in Christchurch as we found the South Island is the place for us. As we are new to Christchurch we are hoping that pet sitting will help us to meet new people and get a feel for different parts of Christchurch. Hannah has grown up looking after dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, love birds, budgies, hedgehogs and loaning many horses (as a long-term horse rider). She especially loves dogs and greatly misses the family German Shepherds back in England. She has a lot of experience walking big dogs, including antisocial dogs and pullers (most of the dogs Hannah's family has owned have been troubled rescue dogs, at least initially)! Austin is very comfortable with all sorts of animals and not afraid to get his hands dirty. He has also developed a love for dogs with over 10 years experience with the aforementioned family Shepherds and has a real soft spot for house cats. We have house-sat for various owners over the last few years which has included dogs of all sizes, cats, sheep and poultry. We have various references if required. We are a responsible young professional couple that homeowners can trust to respect and care for their beloved homes and animals. We are also Covid-19 vaccinated and non-smokers. We are eager to see new places, meet new people and cuddle some fluff babies. We hope you consider us for your house sit.

Hi, we are Tracey & Mick - both self employed work from home professionals. Tracey is a weight loss consultant & Mick an IT consultant. We are parents of 4 adult children & are a blended family. We have no pets at present and decided not to, to allow us to travel more easily. Previously we had 9 chickens - our 'other children'. We love animals and have had experience with our own cats (5), rabbit, guinea pigs, chickens and a Labrador dog (Abby). We even got to look after Sea Monkeys for one of our boys. One of our boys has Purebred American Bulldogs & we love visiting & playing with them. In the recent Auckland floods (for the 2nd time) close friends of ours bought their 6 chickens to us, to care for, until they were able to live in their home again - the first time we had them for over 6 months and more recently 3 months. Their 'babies' were well loved & looked after. Mick is a keen diver and loves to get out in the garden, Tracey used to be a professional cleaner so keeping a home sparkling clean is my thing - I also love mowing lawns. We both love to walk and do lengthier hikes & can be found in the mornings trying to beat each other at Wordle & Quordle. We are both people who take pride and care not only in our home (including the grounds) but any home we visit or stay in. We absolutely both respect your home is your castle, that your pets are your joy and we want you to go away knowing we will love your animals and care for them & your house (and grounds if required) so you can just relax. We both have the ability to work anywhere with a good internet connection. Depending on which one of us is working we will always have plenty of time to love, pet, cuddle, brush or walk your pet(s).

We are both retired and just into our 70’s. Don a Licensed Land Surveyor, Ann a Diversional Therapist, both non-smokers. Cats and Dogs have been part of our lives since we were children. Before marriage... Ann. We had a family dog called Lisa who came to us when I was a teenager. I felt I was instrumental in the neighbourhood children enjoying the companionship of dogs as we walked her about. We bathed her in a tub, the children soaping, rinsing and drying her. Before Marriage …. Don Our family had two cats over the years. Andrew and Eloise had very content lives with us. As a married couple of 43 years we have had four cats. Our last cat died a few years ago, after living with us for 11 years, she was full of personality and had a few tricks that endeared her to others. One was jumping up to pull the patio door handle down, leaning back out of the way as it opened outwards and wandering into the lounge much to the delight of our visitors. Recently two border collies came into our lives; Luna and Tom. I met them and their owner Jenny one day as she was out walking them. Jenny then became unwell so Don and I walked Luna and Tom until she was well enough to do it herself. Our own situation allows us the opportunity to be of support to others. We live in a managed development of 18 homes where the common lawns, trees and gardens are cared for. If we are away for any length of time we return to find our home and garden as if we had left just the day before. Several years ago a family we hadn’t known that long asked us if we would come and live on their lifestyle block while they went back to the UK for three months. This stint went smoothly, the sheep stayed in their paddock, and apart from Fred the goat wandering over to the house garden to eat a few roses, all went well. I am diligent, responsible and kind. Don is reliable and very capable. Together your animals and home will be well cared for. I hope this provides you with an over-view of the people we are, and to what extent that home and animal care is very much second nature to us. Ann and Don McKinnon.

Hi, we're two active retirees who lost our wee mate, 14yr old Cavoodle, Riley, last year. So we are now doing a bit of travelling before committing again. Meanwhile, we've been getting our "doggie fix" from minding dogs for our friends, neighbours and even a motor home park which included two samoyeds! Prior to retiring, Ian has managed Waste and Transport companies and owned his own business and Pam has worked in the Airline Industry for the last 30 plus years. We both enjoy lots of outdoor exercise including dog walking, kayaking and mountain biking. We have done numerous house/pet sits already. We are loving the experiences, especially spending longer periods of time in different towns, cities and even the remotest areas getting to know neighbours and locals. We've also enjoyed some "sits" in Australia recently too. Our own home and garden are kept extremely neat and tidy so be assured we would take great care of your property.

Hi there, My name is Nancy and I am a clean living and retired lady. I have 2 daughters who are both married with children (3 Grandchildren) and I have had my own businesses in Takapuna, Auckland, selling antiques and old jewellery. I retired from this in 2009. I also owned and managed a Motor Inn in Brisbane, Australia. I have owned and managed my own houses most of my life and I have always had a cat (unfortunately had to have my most recent pussy cat put down last year at a ripe old age of 15years. His name was William and he was an Ocicat). I am extremely responsible, love animals and any homeowner could expect their pets to be loved and cherished just as if they were my own and your property well maintained, kept secure and clean and tidy. I keep very fit and active and enjoy walking, so if you have any dogs that require this I will be very happy to take them out with me. Thank you for taking the time to consider my online profile and I hope to meet with you and your fur babies soon. Warmest, Nancy.

Hi there, I have been living in NZ since 2013. I was born in Hungary, but I grew up in Germany, both are amazing countries! I work remote for 2 companies and I’m very flexible in time, so I will be around most of the time. I am into photography (astrophotography), gardening, and baking, and I love books! In the last 20 years, I had dogs and cats, also I kept rabbits, finch, and guinea pigs but I have most experience with dogs and cats. During my housesittings I had experience with dogs, cats, cows, sheep, fish, and poultry. :) I've been housesitting on the South Island for more than a year now. I am happy to travel anywhere on the South. :) Cheers, Erika

Hi Homeowners, we are Henk and San-Marie, a quiet and professional couple in their 60’s. Henk still works full-time from home as an IT professional and San-Marie is retired. We are busy building our forever home. During this time we are wanting to travel our beautiful country in a way that can be of meaning to us and others, we know the importance of having somebody looking after your home and animals responsibly. Henk enjoy Fly fishing as his main get away from work which give San-Marie the opportunity to photograph the beautiful surroundings. We also enjoy gardening, walking and craft. Henk as a woodworker and tinkerer and San-Marie as a needle woman, journal writer and scrapbooker. Therefore, we hope to combine all of this in the form of housesitting for people who need to take a break and have a time away from their own home with peace of mind, knowing somebody responsible is looking out for their home and animals. We have had cats and dogs of our own over the years. We also helped neighbours when they went away to care for them. We often have to baby sit our furry grandchildren that is a Labradoodle called Whiskey and a Ragdoll cat called Willow. We realise that we will have to leave them home while we are on our adventure. We understand that the needs of dogs and cats are different but the common factor is love, attention and feeding. We are happy to take the animals for a walk when and as it is accustomed to as much as we are able too. We love wild birds and had a water bowl and feeding tray in the garden. Looked after a bunny and some hamsters of a neighbour. We are not scared of farm animals, have rented a property many years ago where we had to make sure there was water in the throughs and kept an eye on the animals in the paddocks surrounding our home. We hope we can meet soon to make it possible for you to go away with a peaceful heart.

I cherish the beauty of landscapes, views, nature, and the sea, and I am enthusiastic about surrounding myself with beautiful things. I am more than willing to provide references or meet in person to discuss any specific requirements you may have. Thank you for considering me as your house sitter. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to care for your home and cherished pets. I would welcome the chance to discuss your specific needs and contribute to a worry-free period during your absence. Sincerely, Peter Kemble

Hi My name is Catherine and I have had extensive experience in house/pet minding in NZ and overseas in Ireland, where I lived for 20 years before returning to NZ in 2012. I have been in charge of dogs (small and large), cats, chickens, cattle (dry stock), sheep, pigs, goats, horses, alpaca, lizards, and the easiest of all, fish! I am a mature, sensible, and responsible female who will also take great loving care of your pets and your home. My excellent references will help provide you with peace of mind while you are away from home. My flexibility and adaptability enable me to adjust to many situations and any needs that you have with your pets and your home environment. My current employment allows me flexibility to work from home. Thank you for considering my profile. Warm regards, Catherine O'Neill

Myself and my partner were both born in England, but are now residents of NZ having lived in Auckland for the last 5 years. We have both grown up with dogs and cats so have lots of experience in looking after them and giving them the attention and care they need. We are heading back to the UK for a while soon so are currently not working so would be around full time to keep your pets company. We are both very house proud and tidy so we would take care of your home the same way we would expect ours to be looked after. I cant promise your pets won't be spoiled.... but i can promise they will be given a lot attention and very well looked after whilst you're away so you won't have to worry :)

Hi! We're Danielle and Eamonn. We started house-sitting through family friends, and found that we loved it! We love getting to know different suburbs and different pets. Eamonn is a massive dog lover (but Danielle won't let him get one yet), so house-sitting satisfies his canine cravings. Danielle is the cat lover in the relationship, so between us, we've got pets covered! Our motto is to always leave a house-sit better than we found it. Whether it's your pet, your kitchen or your garden you most need looking after, we are proud to always leave it happier, cleaner or greener than when you left. We are really grateful for every house sit we attend and understand that it is your home - so if you have any specific requirements (which most people do), do let us know. Let us know if you have any questions or need more information - we are always happy to help. Danielle and Eamonn

I am a friendly caring person who has been house sitting for a number of years both in New Zealand and England. I love all animals and class myself as a person who respects other people's houses and belongings, plus of course the four legged pets, who resides in the home. Plus staying in different places to explore is a bonus. We have always had animals as part of our family life, but due to travelling around unable to have any at present. So the next best thing is to look after other peoples pets...

Available Jan 23 - March 8, 2024. We are on an extended trip throughout NZ. Along the way, we would love to take care of your home and animals. We have a flexible timeline and a vehicle. ...a little about us. I am a NZ'er and a retired educator. Peter is canadian and a retired computer engineer. Our home base is on a small island in western Canada. We are homeowners and fully understand the housesitting social contract and responsibilities. We currently have trustworthy housesitters in our home while we are away. Peter and I, make a great housesitting team. I take the lead with the animal and home care, Peter supports me by playing with the pets and cuddle time. He also leads our dog walking explorations into nature. As our three children grew, our home was full of much loved animals. We had two family cats and two family dogs. Oliver, the cat was much loved in the neighbourhood. During the day he would sit by the gate, greet people, and beg for a pat. During the evening, when he was not snuggled up next to the dog, or swatting her tail, he would find a lap and stay there purring. He stayed in our family for 20 years. Lassie, a border collie/lab/husky cross is perhaps the most acclaimed of all our family pets. Our children still talk of her with great love. We adopted her when she was two years old. She 'heeled' with the click of a finger and kept guard over our children when they were young. She was the most amazing and lovable dog - her photo has an honoured place in our home. In the past, we have cared for cats, dogs, sheep, pigs, bees, chickens, ducks, fischers parrot, rabbits, and hamsters. The key in caring for pets is to have established expectations: food and exercise routines/cuddle times and ensure that animals have ample fresh water everyday. We love all animals and plants and can turn my hand to most tasks involved in caring for them. Also, I might add that I enjoy exploring regenerative agriculture concepts. I am a founding director of School Orchards Africa Society, in Tanzania. Having built our home and hobby farm, Peter is familiar with most house systems, on and off grid. He is a good guitar player. We are happy to zoom chat with you regarding your home and animals needs. WhatsApp works too. Kind regards, Linda

Hi there, We are Adam and Eszter, a friendly couple in our late 30s. We are originally from Hungary, but have been living in New Zealand for more than 6 years. We are NZ citizens. I, Adam, grew up on a lifestyle farm on the countryside, where I had the chance of playing with and taking care of many types of animals mainly cats, dogs, chickens, ducks and pigs. We also often went around to check out the neighbors' sheep, cows and horses. I believe that my sensible personality makes me a good match to many kinds of animals. Also my family has long line of gardeners, and I also inherited a bit of the green thumb. My profession is IT engineer working at FoodStuffs 9-5 as a Data Insights Manager. As an engineer I also enjoy being the handyman around the house, and I like to get involved in DIY project in my free time. I, Eszter, am from a mid-size city of Hungary. My mother is from a small farm, where I had the pleasure of spending my childhood summers. I loved the various kinds of animals, cats, dogs, chicken and horses, and all the works around the house. I did spend most of my time outside which I enjoy doing to this day. I enjoy connecting with friendly animals, helping in the garden and around the house, and going on long walks in the nature. I am a dedicated yoga practitioner and a Senior IT Project Manager, working 9-5 on weekdays with the option of working from home. We are caring and responsible people who want to help out families like yours by looking after your pets and property while you are away, just as how we did for many others before. We are experienced pet sitters with several lovely stories to share, and happy to help you out with other activities around the house. Please feel free to get in touch with our references who will happily vouch for our character and skills by sharing their own personal experience with us. We would love to meet you and your pets and hope that you will consider us as your house sitters. Eszter and Adam Horvath

We are a responsible, long term, married, retired couple. With more free time at our disposal house sitting becomes an attractive way to be useful to others as well as offering new experiences for us. We have travelled internationally as well as throughout most of New Zealand, and having lived long spells in Wellington, Auckland and now retired to Bay of Plenty. With family overseas, often our time away has been for up to 3 months, and on those occasions we have had friends and others staying at our home. We know what it is like to make your home available to others who you are familiar with but still have that small apprehension about whether it will be ok. We know how you are feeling making this commitment. We have been long term dog and cat owners, and currently regularly play house parents to a friend's dog. Walking and appropriate exercise is not a problem. Other friends also call on us to house sit and mind their precious moggy, often for longer periods. Golf is a sport that we both enjoy, so the opportunity to play other courses is an added appeal for house sitting. Choosing us to look after your house and pets will give maximum assurance that all will be well cared for, and treated as if they were our own. Go on your holiday and relax and enjoy in the knowledge that everything at home is being well cared for.

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a 42 year old woman who has been going through cancer treatment this year, thankfully with a positive outcome. I have worked in Education as either and English teacher, a relief teacher and/or tutor for 16 years, and started studying towards becoming a counsellor in 2022. I also have a nearly 21 year old daughter who I raised as a solo mum. I am intending to housesit as I move forward from a challenging year, hopefully to have enjoyable experiences in new places and step outside my comfort zone, and I also hope to save money for travel and for the future. I have had pets since I was a child. We always had cats in our family which have included a girl called cuddles one of her kittens, Garfield, as sweet girl called patch who was white with a couple of black patches and a black tail, and two girls, Mocca, and Cino, the latter who has been my my comfort and support while going through cancer treatment. My daughter and I also had our own cat who found us, who was the biggest smooch, I have known who I miss terribly. My family, growing up also had a golden retriever called, Zoe, and a budgie called Moses, and my daughter and I also had our own budgie called Mika, and we had a couple of fish called Bubbles and Scales when my daughter was younger. Hopefully, this gives you an idea that I have plenty of experiences looking after pets! I have had one experience of housesitting, which was early this year, looking after two male labradoodle puppies, and two cats while the family were overseas for three weeks. There was an issue with the puppies, which I resolved and the couple were thankful for how things were handled. I looked after their greenhouse during this period which required a lot of care. I see being able to live in and look after someone's home as privilege and would endeavour to care for the property how I would wish someone to look after my own. I think a discussion about expectations of what is important to the family is in an important part of that, so that if there are any particular needs or concerns that is clear from the beginning, especially if pets are being looked after. Pets are part of the family, so I would treat them with the love and care they deserve, just like I would with my own.

I am a single/separated 46yo professional (Senior Management) that enjoy travelling and experiencing new towns/cities and cultures. I've been house sitting for a colleague for the last 5 months and decided I love the lifestyle, and with the work flexibility I have, I want to make the most of it as long as possible and save up for a big overseas trip. I love animals and connect easily with them. I grew up with and cared for a variety of animals (farm + domestic). Also open to look after animals I haven't dealt with previously. I am healthy, fitness oriented and neat, and do my best to keep my surrounding environment the same. As a house sitter, you can expect your animals, house and its contents to be treated with respect and kept neat and tidy.

I am a 26-year-old female currently undertaking an internship at the Christchurch City Council. My journey in Christchurch began in February 2023, to finish my studies in: Bachelor of Science with a double major in Geography and Environmental Science, alongside a minor in Geology. What distinguishes me is the unique circumstance of having friends and family residing overseas or in the North Island. This provides me with a distinctive advantage in prioritizing the responsibilities that come with house and animal sitting. Free from local distractions, I can wholeheartedly focus on ensuring the well-being of your home and pets. In terms of experience, I have successfully house sat for colleagues, neighbors, acquaintances and friends-of-friends. My care extends to various pets, including dogs, cats, fish, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Being a true homebody with a genuine love for animals, this responsibility aligns seamlessly with my lifestyle. Should you choose me as your house sitter, you can count on a reliable caretaker for your home and pets. My commitment to a quiet, clean, and respectful lifestyle is evident in both my professional and personal life. Your space will be meticulously maintained, and your pets will not only receive the necessary care but also the love and attention that stems from a sincere adoration for animals. I look forward to the opportunity to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your home and pets are in capable and caring hands.

My name is Camila, and my partner is Andy. We are an adventurous couple living and working in Christchurch. Currently, we reside in our beloved campervan, fondly named Yeti. Recently, we made the decision to inspire others to venture out and explore New Zealand in our beautiful big boy. House sitting offers a golden opportunity for us to temporarily part ways with our cherished van and extend our love and care to others. We're enthusiastic about becoming caretakers of your beloved pets and home while Yeti embarks on new adventures of its own. Both of us have had pets before, and our affection for animals runs deep. I, Camila, am an unabashed cat enthusiast and a plant lover. Cats and plants hold a special place in my heart. In contrast, Andy's heart belongs to dogs, and he cherishes every tail-wagging moment spent with them. Rest assured, we will attend to your house and furry companions as if they were cherished members of our own lives. I work from home while Andy goes to a worksite every day. I will ensure your house remains clean and tidy, and your pets will keep me company in return. As an added bonus, my passion for photography shines through. If you desire it, I'll capture breathtaking moments, creating lasting memories of your pets and home. Warm regards, Camila & Andy

Rennie and I met when travelling overseas in the late 60's and have lived in Auckland since 1976, always in the central Auckland. Both of us are born and bred NZ ers, Rennie is from Wellington and I Auckland, which makes for interesting sports watching on occasions. 10 years ago we sold our family home after 31 years and now live in an apartment in the same area. Even more recently we sold our share in a co owned bach which we had for 36 years, this was a deliberate move to allow us more flexibility to travel around NZ. We are so used to sharing and being respectful to others in that shared space we thought house sitting and caring for other's treasured pets would be a great way to see our country. We have been retired now for several years but previously I was a registered nurse and Rennie a journalist. We both keep fit and active and enjoy walking. Mostly I keep busy with volunteer work and Rennie a great reader and avid newsman. Prior to our apartment life, which we love, we have always had pets in our family, cats and dogs. Our very first animal was a cat called Ola, she was a dear fluffy puss cat who's favorite trick was to bring us presents of squirming mice. She looked at us as if we were mad when we returned them to the garden. From Ola we had a series of cats all named by our son, we have had Sally, George (who was discovered to be Georgina when being spayed), Loverly and Pokey. The later two arrived very close together and Loverly adored Pokey who became pregnant while booked in to be spayed. She was still a kitten herself and when her babies were born Loverly took over the nurturing role and would marshall Pokey at feeding times. We lost Loverly early when she was run over. Wonderfully Pokey lived until she was 20. When we lost Loverly we became dog owners, our first a miniature schnauzer called Pebbles who sadly died from, the vet believed, of a congenital heart condition at 5. After Pebbles we got Slick from the SPCA, he was a good boy and we all loved him for the 14 years we had him. We miss them now.

I'm a 71 year old, healthy and fit woman who loves animals and exploring our great country. I've retired now and house sitting would suit me well. I volunteer in the community and spend quite a bit of time walking, cycling, swimming and enjoying yoga. I have my own home which is easy care. I house sat for 2 years 2000-2002 minding cats and dogs and keeping the owners house up to scratch. I was often recalled when the home owners were away. I'm honest, trustworthy and reliable. I held a responsible position for 21 years as PA to a high profile NZ'er until retiring in 2021. I've travelled extensively over the years - lived in the UK for the usual two year OE in my twenties, then was seconded to Singapore for a further two years in 1998. During Covid we were limited to local travel which ticked a lot of boxes and have some very happy memories of travels round NZ, particularly the South Island. I usually like to get overseas 2-3 times a year.

We both are responsible and enthusiastic animal lovers. We are clean freaks (in the best way) and enjoy an active lifestyle. We are proud homeowners who love to travel. Mitch is training to join the police force and would like a buddy to join him on his runs. He grew up on a farm and has extensive experience with all sorts of animals (big & small, healthy & disabled, tame & wild). Kate is a bookworm that needs someone to keep her company while she gets lost in her next big read. Hailing from Namibia, this is her fifth country of residence in her 26 years. She grew up petting cheetahs and lived to tell the tale. We both work from home at least twice a week (Mitch can work remotely whenever he wants, Kate is not so lucky). We are both looking for animals to love while their parents are adventuring around the world (or in their backyard, we aren't picky).

Hi, my name is Jenny. I have sold my home in Hawkes Bay where I lived for most of my life and I have just relocated to the South Island. I am staying with family in Waimate at the moment while I look for another house and job (in the education field). I'm enjoying the flexibility and freedom of having a break between jobs. l am available for short and longer term pet sits and I am keen to explore different parts of the South Island. My own pets have included Buddy, a 'rescue' Labrador, Lucky, a feisty budgie, Penny, a baby pigeon I raised for a year (found fallen out of the nest by the dog), goldfish, and a frog. I have looked after my neighbour's cat when they were away, and recently looked after a little fox terrier called Poppy for a few days while her family were away in Nelson. I am a tidy person by nature, healthy, non-smoker, and you can expect that I would take good care of your home and animals. I have my own reliable vehicle. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have to see if we're a good fit as I understand that your pets are precious to you and are part of your family. I would be happy to send regular updates with photos if you would like this, and will follow your instructions for their care so you can relax and enjoy your time away. Jenny

We both live in the same lifestyle village and love travelling together. We have a motorhome and use this as often as we can. We have been housesitting for two or three homes of friends including the North Island and we would like to do more. I used to own a pet shop in Kerikeri, Bay of islands, so love animals. I also used to run an "Animal and home care service" in North Canterbury for three years before the earthquakes. Colin and I both lost our partners to ill health. Colin was an engineer on the railways for 43 years so is a handy man. I love gardening as well as animals. We are both trustworthy caring kind reliable, clean and tidy people. I currently volunteer at St Johns, have taught dyslexic children in schools but want to get out and about more to explore. My daughter has a lifestyle block and has two dogs, four cats, fish, chickens and cows and we often house sit for her. We are in our mid seventies but are an active couple who also enjoy walks and e-biking. I used to own a dog and always had animals in my life but unfortunately we cannot have a cat or dog any more as we live in a lifestyle village, We do not do it to save money but love animals and can hopefully help others to have time off without worrying about home and pets.

Hello, Vanessa and Marcel here. We have been house-sitting for the Housesitting Company since 2018 and have done about 20 house-sits right around the country. Vanessa grew up in Mount Maunganui and Tauranga but has more recently lived in Otago for the last 20 years. Marcel has lived in Otago most of his life. We now live in Invercargill where Vanessa is studying to be a Nurse, and Marcel drives a School Bus. We both love dogs and cats and have had our own pets in the past. Marcel has until recently had Labradors and a couple of cats. Vanessa has recently had both cats and dogs, Chocolate and Vanilla the cats, and Chico was a very much loved Tibetan Spaniel. We have mainly looked after cats and dogs, but also horses, rabbits, fish, and one Axolotl. Vanessa has studied the first year of Vet Nursing at Otago Polytech and gained a Certificate in Animal Care. We both love the outdoors hiking in summer and skiing in winter. We own our own property so we are mindful that you expect us to look after your property and pets as if they were our own.

Hi, My partner and I are responsible people who have done a lot of traveling. We understand the importance of trust when it comes to house sitting, this is because we are homeowners ourselves and business owners. We have joined house sitters to make it possible for us to travel to different regions more. I also grew up on a farm and my family ran SPCA for our region, as well as operating our Cattery. I also have a lot of other experience with animals. We look forward to chatting with you about house sitting at your place!

I am caring and responsible late 30’s. I have been renting for 14 years including one single bedroom house for 10 years. I have house sat regularly over the past 17 years. Looking after dogs, cats, fish, plants in this time and always been invited back to housesit again. I’m reliable, approachable and quiet living. I Have decided to try house sitting to get out of the rental trap and save for a house. I understand the trust, privilege and vulnerable position of being in another person's home looking after what they hold dear.

I am a caring, bubbly person who loves to explore and travel. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Applied Management (Human Resources Major). I am hoping upon achieving this degree it will give me the tools to address the 'gap' of the relationship linked between people and culture in the workplace when I graduate. All my study is distance learning, so it can be done from anywhere in New Zealand (With an internet connection). I grew up in the Waikato and Auckland regions respectively, I am currently a Christchurch Local and have been for the past 12 years I am very fond of the Marlborough area as well, I have had some great holidays spent there and many fishing trips! Even though I currently am not a pet owner (As I am committed to my degree, it's not the right time to commit to a pet) I have tonnes of experience taking care of animals as I grew up in a rural community with many animals around. I think house sitting will give me the freedom to explore lots of new surroundings and travel of course! whilst I continue my studies. I love all animals and thought that when I grew up I wanted to become a vet! So your animals are in safe hands! I will treat them as if they were my own. I love plants as well! I will take extra special care of any plant life you may have in your home. In fact in my home in christchurch I have 33 houseplants to be precise! If you choose me to house sit for you, I will be respectful and caring to your pets and home. I look forward to meeting new people and learning about their travels. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your lovely fur babies!

My name is Agata, I'm a 33-year-old professional that has been living in Queenstown since 2015. Animal-loving vegetarian ready to take good care for your home and pets. I signed up on this website mainly for me to travel around on my days off and have the opportunity to know new places and enjoy some ME time. After these years in New Zealand with my partner renting houses/rooms and now being responsible of our own house lease, I understand what it means 100% to find someone who you lean on. I consider myself responsible and caring. I understand how important our house and pets are for us and if you are on this website we are on the same page. Let me help! My experience with animals are mainly with cats and dogs. I personally was lucky to be raised by a family who love animals and not just that, we had 5 cats in my parents house back home... Each of them raised as an unique member of the family (and spoiled... Yes xD). Our friends back home would always trust me for taking care of their dogs or cats and luckily here in NZ the same is happening :) With my partner had a friend's dog for 6 months and it was AWESOME! We checked all the tracks around! Honest, hardworking and reliable house/pet sitter.

I am currently a full-time student on leave with my permanent teaching job. My home is Christchurch but I am studying at AUT in Auckland. This year I have been commuting between the two cities, but across November I will be based in Auckland only. I will then be based in Christchurch from December onwards. I am studying a Master in Human Rights. Prior to this year I rented an inner city apartment but had to give that up in order to study. This year I have lived in a variety of places to keep my accomodation costs down, I have been house/pet sitting or staying with my partner while in Christchurch, and staying at backpackers while in Auckland. This has been a freeing and interesting exercise, however, I would prefer to have a fixed abode in November so I can sleep well and be in a quiet space to study and work. I do not have a pet of my own, as I am too adventurous and like to travel and tramp but I enjoy pets and have often looked after pets of friends and family. My partner has three cats and two dogs so I am very well aware of what is involved in caring for them.

I am a mature, respectful, trustworthy woman who loves animals and knows what a privilege it is to be given the responsibility of looking after others homes and precious animals. Also recently NZ Police vetted (November 2022). I'm semi-retired and looking for mostly school holiday sits and available for some weekends. I have my dream job working part time 4 mornings Monday-Thursday, helping women build confidence for the next steps in their lives. I've hired many holiday houses over the years, I'm not a hotel type person, and really enjoy house sitting where I can take care of your home and animals. I have my own dog who will stay at home while I look after yours, take care of friends dogs when they go away and vice versa. I'm also No 1 cat sitter for the neighbours. Massive dog rescuer as well - just ask my friends, they groan at every new story of me finding a stray dog and getting it home safely. I love dogs and cats equally, and when I am asked which I prefer I say both. I have my own dog, the second in my life, and have owned cats until 10 years ago. I adopted Kato (bichon poodle x) when he was 3 and he had fear based issues after what appears to be a difficult first few years. It took a couple of years to make him aware he was safe and just on the planet to have a good time. Now he is a happy little guy who loves to walk, chase balls and hang out with his favourite humans, my 90 year old mother being one of them - having bitten her the first time they met over 5 years ago, they now have a very special bond. They even share the same birthday. I lived in Auckland for 20 years and love the Coromandel and Northland. I spent a lot of time in the Coromandel over summers, in a tent, holiday houses, staying at friends and travelling in motorhomes. Living in Christchurch I don't get much of any opportunity to get back there and I miss the beautiful weather and lush tropical geography. I love to walk, bike, explore, read, cook, love art house movies and documentaries, galleries, being near or in water and am very happy with my own company.

Kia ora My girlfriend Emma and I are seeking house sitting opportunities in the Christchurch area to help us save toward our first house and some overseas travel. I’m 39 and Emma is 29, and we are both very responsible, clean, tidy, and respectful house guests/sitters. We both work for central government, mostly from home, and have tonnes of experience looking after animals! I (George) grew up on a farm with lots of dogs around me and a Labrador named Frank who was my first best mate, while Emma had a Samoyed named Freya who recently passed away. Additionally, we both grew up in homes with multiple cats in the house, and Emma’s parents currently have a Ragdoll cat named Coco that is usually the highlight of our visits when we stay there. In recent years, we have looked after many canine friends through other pet sitting apps, including large breeds of dog such as German Shepherd, purely because we love the company of animals. If you are looking for house sitters that will look after your home and return it the way you left it, and will treat your pet like it was our own, then look no further. We look forward to hearing from you. George and Em

We love exploring different areas. We are experienced housesitters and will look after your home and pets as if they were our own with care and respect. We can cope with the unexpected. Over the years we have had dogs of our own and looked after other peoples’ labradors, retrievers, Jack Russells, collies, Alsatian, mixed breeds and rescue dogs. I loved it when our Jack Russell had pups. We have always had cats too. Though mainly our daughter was the cats’ best friend. Hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, fish have all been part of the household at various times and once a rosella for a few weeks. For 30 years I have had one or two ponies or horses until my Connemara died in 2018. Sometimes I still ride but mainly I miss caring for horses. As we have had land in the past we’ve had various livestock, horses, cattle, sheep and are comfortable handling them. We have looked after other peoples’ hens and still say we will get some when we don’t go away so much. In the meantime we are often visited by our neighbours’ two hens making a getaway. My husband is a fixer, landscaper and creative worker with wood and natural materials. He is a keen caretaker of New Zealand’s natural environment. He is an avid reader and perceptive, humorous writer. I am still working as a psychologist mainly by Zoom one day a week. I enjoy the flexibility of being nearly retired and having time to play the guitar and dabble in the garden and with various art projects. In amongst this we enjoy time with our three daughters, their families and children and are looking forward to a new addition. We look forward to meeting you and your pets very soon.

Hello, I’m Kate; here is a little about me. I am a Teacher and have had the good fortune to have been able to travel the world with my career. I’m originally from Nelson. During the last 25 years, I have lived and worked in London, Bangkok, HCMC, Shanghai, and Beijing. It has all been an exciting adventure. While living and working in Vietnam and China, I looked after friends’ pups and then went on to foster many dogs. I found a tiny puppy on the street in Shanghai. He lived with me for three years and turned out to be a big dog. His name is Paddy. Sadly, I could not bring him back to New Zealand with me. I found him a great and loving home and have regular contact with his 2nd Mummy. I will always be 1st Mummy. I am sure you will understand how heartbreaking it was separating from him. I am currently living in Auckland and am keen to see more of NZ particularly the South Island. I am available for house sits all over NZ during the school holidays. During the last two years I have been pet and house sitting regularly. I love dogs and cats. I am a keen walker and love finding new places to walk. The only thing that is missing is a furry freind. I am clean and tidy and enjoy healthy living. I am a non-smoker.

We are a couple who have had many moves over the years due to family commitments. We do not own our own home, but we love seeing different parts of the country. We are animal lovers and love to relax, read and roam a little. We have three adult daughters, one granddaughter and just love the fresh air, fossicking for unusual stones on beaches and river beds. We have house sat many times and caring for pets is just another enjoyable facet of housesitting. We are reliable, responsible and considerate towards the home and homeowners.

Hey there, I am very much hoping that you choose me to house sit your home, i am responsible, reliable, clean, trustworthy and very respectful. I am a home bodied sort of person and enjoy reading, drawing, watching docos and cooking good food in my down time. I am a chef by trade but am currently working as a gardener/ landscaper as well as a few art projects on the side, so if your garden needs tending to I'll be more than happy to help. I absolutely love all animals and grew up having a few cats and dogs. I have house sat for people in the past but have never used this website to do so. If you choose me you can expect your furry friend (s) to be showered and bathed in love, cuddles and good times. ( if you have pets of cause) otherwise, you can expect your home to be completely and utterly respected and cherished and left in the exact order you left it in. I have just returned home after a year or so travelling overseas and am just looking for my options in terms of accommodation. I heard about this website and thought I'd give it a go. I look forward to hearing from you soon, take care and many thanks. Gemma :)

Hi there, my name is Kathryn. I recently moved to Christchurch from the Kapiti Coast to be closer to family. I'm not yet ready to settle down and buy a place of my own in Christchurch and it seems to me that housesitting for a bit will enable me to familiarise myself with Christchurch before making the decision about where to buy. I work locally as a District Nurse. I love walking, hiking, biking and swimming - anything that gets me out in the fresh air! Growing up we always had a dog, but despite my love of dogs I have only had one dog in my adult life (my husband was not keen on dogs). Now that I am on my own, I relish the idea of being a short-term owner of a dog in my role of house-sitter. I enjoy both morning and evening walks so exercising the dog would be a pleasure. I have experience in owning cats, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens, and enjoy all pet animals. I am a careful, tidy and reliable person who will take very good care of your house and pets.

Hello, We are Christine & David Eyre a couple of expat poms now well and truly settled in God’s own South Island 20 years ago, with children and grandchildren in both hemispheres. Currently no pets as we enjoy the freedom but we have lots of experience having previously owned dogs, cats, fish, rabbits, hamster’s mice and even an elderly tortoise. You will find us a reliable, caring Christian couple, both currently working part time in the IT and Health professions. Christine and I enjoy travel, walking, cycling and swimming, but also can spend time with a good book or two; practical and quite handy in the garden we had a pool in our last home. Having brought up three children we now have a wee bit of freedom to travel, although we enjoy our beautiful home in Tahunanui we would love the opportunity to care for your home and pets in your community and explore further our beautiful country. We are a newly married couple who both have had past housesitting experience as well as pet care experience, having looked after a variety of pets from, dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish and a turtle. Both of us have an affinity towards dogs, but would lovingly look after any pets who need cuddles in your absence. Jacob works full-time as a builder and Ebony studies part-time through Massey University and works part-time. Ebony often studies from home in the mornings and works in the afternoons, which means she would be home for a good portion of the day to ensure your pets have plenty of company. We are both mature and reliable individuals, and as sitters you can expect good communications, pet lovers who will follow your instructions, oodles of cuddles for your pets and a tidy well kept home for you to return to. We look forward to meeting you and your pets very soon. Warm regards Ebony & Jacob

Kia Ora, We are a couple in our thirties who are settling in to New Zealand from abroad (Aimee from Australia, Tetteh from the US). We met in London 6 years ago, and are very much enjoying living in beautiful Aotearoa. We are enjoying house sitting as we love the opportunity to see different parts of the country, love animals, and have flexibility given we largely work from home. We are both working professionals - Aimee is a Social Worker having spent the last 13 years working in the criminal justice system, and Tetteh is a Forensic Psychologist. Tetteh also has a education background and has previously worked as a University Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, however is also a qualified Psychologist. He is currently contracting to organisations doing training and facilitation, one on one therapy, and group therapy for those with substance use issues. Aimee also works from home and contracts to Ministry of Justice completing court reports for criminal courts, as well as doing training and facilitation and restorative practice with tertiary institutions and organisations. We both largely work from home, however do have face to face meetings or workshops in town a few times per week. We both come from homes where we have adored our pets. Aimee grew up with cats, and has a family cat named Sunny who is the family princess and adored by everyone. Tetteh is a HUGE animal lover, and takes up every opportunity to spend time with family and friends who have animals (particularly dogs!). We are both very responsible people who do not smoke, are outgoing and trustworthy, and happy to ensure all steps are taken to ensure your animals and property are adequately cared for. If we are chosen as house sitters for your property, we can guarantee your home and animals will be in very safe and capable hands. We are both extremely approachable, pro-active and respectful individuals who understand the trust that goes into allowing others to stay in your property and care for your loved ones. We are very responsive and are happy to provide very regular updates on your home and animals, as well as to provide any reassurance that might be needed :) We are super happy to meet you - either in person or in Skype - to discuss any questions there might be, or any other info! Hope to speak with you soon, Aimee and Tetteh

Hi there, We are a professional couple (both Deputy Principals) with 2 young children (8yrs and 5yrs). We are active, love the outdoors and love animals. We are happy to look after any pets. Our youngest child is very gentle with pets, as is our eldest who is very used to animals. She likes to help us feed, wash and take care of them, and where appropriate, take them for walks. Rochelle was bought up on a farm and is comfortable with livestock and farm dogs. We have had pets before, including 2 shih tzu dogs, which we bred from for a number of years, so are used to dogs of all ages. We are also equally comfortable looking after cats. We maintain a clean and tidy household and will respect any property that we are in. We will take great care of your home and love your pets like our own. We have had a number of house sits now and all of our reviews have been excellent. Kind Regards, Shane and Rochelle

In my most recent housesits in New Zealand, I used my experience of growing up with animals and my pet-loving and caring nature to support owners to feel at ease whilst they were away on their holiday. I am a strong relationship builder and communicator and am able to quickly build rapport with you and your pets. I value building an encouraging, positive and friendly environment with everyone I meet. An example of this is when I recently housesat in Wellington and looked after several chickens. As I do not eat eggs, I quickly made friends with some neighbours by sharing them so they did not go to waste. Alfie the dog and I were soon invited along for evening walks and morning coffees. I always make sure to send you regular photos of your pets having fun and being cared for as I know you’ll be worrying about and missing them. With my years of staying in housesitting, houseshares and living in tiny homes, I pride myself on keeping a clean home. An example of this is organising myself with a weekly cleaning rota where I split the tasks up over the week to break down the tasks and keep on top. I am also a keen gardener, growing vegetables and flowers from seed to table and caring for a variety of cacti and houseplants. I am happy to keep on top of watering and garden maintenance for you as required. I am enthusiastic, committed and dynamic and my experience in international travel, housesitting, owning and caring for dogs, goats, cows, chickens, cats and bees have gained me the skills and confidence to housesit for your beloved pets and home. Also, my skill in communication and building relationships with you, your pet and your close ones and my passion of keeping the homes I stay in clean will make sure you can relax on your holiday and return to happy pets and a a calm and clean home. I love to travel and have several hobbies including walking, cooking and sewing. I work in the health industry and after finishing my fixed term contract, I am taking some time off to travel and will be working in Wellington from June. I hope to get a part time role or a role that has some flexible working from home arrangements. I look forward to speaking with you and finding out more about your beloved pets and home. Best wishes, Millie

Kia ora! We're Laura and Alex: experienced house-sitters open to housesitting opportunities in Canterbury. As young professionals who otherwise rent, we're always keen to explore other parts the city and make some new fluffy friends. We're friendly, clean pet lovers, and are super happy to have a call/video chat, and supply previous references from our house-sits in Templeton, Little River, St Albans and Rolleston, where we looked after a range of dogs, cats, and a few chickens. We’ve both grown up around pets (Alex in particular grew up in the country with cats, dogs and even a few goats!) so we love the chance to get out of our central Christchurch flat and spend some time with animals. Alex is a mechanical engineering student while Laura works as a marketer for a University - so between the two of us, one of us can usually be home during the day, if that's important to you and your pets. In our downtime, we enjoy hitting up a good restaurant, getting out in nature, and Alex loves to tinker on a project (he’s currently building a bass guitar) while Laura works at a puzzle, or reads a good book – preferably with a cat or dog to warm up her lap… "Laura and Alex were perfect sitters. They looked after our Dunedin house, lifestyle block, cat and 13 sheep for 3 months and did an amazing job. Alex didn't spend one night away from the property, even over the Christmas holidays (Laura had to work part time in Chch, which she was very upfront about). When Alex noticed there was something wrong with our sheep, he got in touch with us and our vet neighbour straight away. Overall communication was amazing. We got cute photo updates every 2-3 days. They came down to meet in person before the house sit, and overlapped with us either end. When we returned they picked us up from the airport, had lunch ready and left us food. The house was spotless and garden looked great. We couldn't have asked for more responsible, kind and dependable sitters." - Claudia "We were lucky to Alex and Laura look after our home and two small dogs while we were away. They did a fabulous job keeping everything clean and tidy while wrangling our high energy schnoodles." - Liz "Laura and Alex looked after our house at the end of 2021, which was a tall order as we have a few animals (dog, cat, chickens). They did such a good job of looking after the place and allowed us to our Christmas at the other end of the country. They kept in touch, which we appreciated, including photos of the dog looking very happy and pampered. The house was kept very tidy and we would very gratefully have them look after the place again." - Donald "It was great to go away and have our cat, Lelu, in safe hands with Alex and Laura. We didn’t have to worry while on our family holiday, with regular updates sent through about Lelu, before returning home to a clean house and happy cat! I’d certainly recommend them as house sitters and wouldn’t hesitate to have them back to look after our family home and cat." - Rachel

Hi, my name is Carolina, 37 years old, I am a NZ resident and currently living with my boyfriend Tomas who has just turned 41. I am an accountant and I am currently working in a software company. I play hockey and try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week to counteract the chocolate and ice cream I eat while watching Netflix (my absolutely favourite activity!!!). At least 3 or 4 times a week I work from home and I love my job as it gives me absolute flexibility with my schedule. I’ve also recently started my MBA in the University of Auckland so I am also spending quite some time studying and going through assignments. Tomas is an Industrial and Logistics Engineer studying for an Operations and Logistics postgraduate degree (Remotely - from a Chilean University). He is particularly fond of dogs since he is super active (of course he is not a smoker!) and he enjoys going for really long walks. He is training now for the Gold Coast marathon on the first days of July and aiming to finish it in less than 3 hours!! (overall he has done over 17 marathons!!) We live in Mission Bay, but it doesn't allow us to get any pets so we love the idea of housesitting as it gives us the opportunity to apply our fondness of animals and at the same time it gives us the possibility to try different neighbourhoods or areas until we decide where we could buy our house in the future! We have experience with different pets as we both had dogs and cats while growing up and we've also did some housesitting during our youth and recently through this website!! You can check our references as we had amazing experiences so far in different parts of New Zealand We are available upon request for further interviews, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!! We look forward to meeting you soon! Caro & Tomi

Hello I'm Maggie, an Auckland based music teacher, photojournalist and jazz musician with experience house sitting both in NZ and abroad. I have recently returned from New York where I released my latest album and am looking for short and longer term housesits while I build a place of my own on my section. A little about myself: I am a responsible and reliable house-sitter and have cared for homes and pets around Auckland, and New York so experienced. I am a non-smoker, very clean and respectful of the homes I look after. I appreciate I am staying in someone's home and not just a house and make sure that the place is exactly as you left it when you return. I love animals and will happily care for your pets while you are away. Happy to provide excellent references if needed.

Hi there, we are Charis and Imogen. Both from the UK and travelling around New Zealand on our working holiday. Charis was raised in London and grew up with 3 cats, 2 of which, sadly passed away over the Covid period. He now has 2 new cats back in the UK: Margo and Milou and really loves having animals around him, as he feels most at ease when there are pets in the home. Charis works as an artist and painter, specialising in oil on canvas portraits. I (Imogen) grew up in Cambridge in a busy household of teachers and we never had pets, much to my disappointment! To make up for it, my parents always looked after our neighbours pets during the school holidays - which we still do to this day. I regularly look after my neighbours cat Maiko and their dogs Budica (a corgi) and Keira (a Newfoundland) as well as, their goldfish. I have worked for 3 years in corporate marketing as a Video Producer, and I hope to continue my career into Film and TV production. We both have a sense of adventure and came to New Zealand on a working holiday to explore the beautiful scenery and meet new people. Please take a look through our references and feel free to contact our referees, who will happily vouch for our characters. Both of us are patient and respectful people, and we look forward to caring for your pets and homes while you are away. Charis & Imogen

We are both retired/semi- retired health professionals and keen to spend some quality periods in various regions of New Zealand to get the feel of living there for a short time. We both do gym a few times a week and have recently done a trip overseas where we walked for at least 3 hours a day. We have previously housesat for friends and cared for their animals. We have also housesat for a couple in Sydney on numerous occasions and they keep inviting us back to do the same. They all came back to homes that were kept neat and tidy and animals that had been cared for well. We have recently done a housesit north of Auckland, where we cared for, walked and cuddled Ruby and Roxy, collies with a hint of greyhound. There are three photos from that house stay. We will look after your home like it is our own and ensure that it is spick and span. A bit of background to our pets: Growing up Colleen owned spaniels and Rob had a cat and a bull terrier. When our children were still at home, we owned a black Labrador, a bull mastiff and a rescue fluffy dog. When our Labrador and first bull mastiff passed on, we acquired another bull mastiff and a Staffordshire terrier! The photos are of second bull mastiff, Rastus, Toffee the Staffie and Puddles the rescue dog. Since then we have downsized and moved to a townhouse which doesn’t really suit animals, but we miss them. We will love and care for your pets as we did ours. Cats tend to gravitate to us, and while we don’t have our own, we do get cuddles from our daughter’s cats, Charlotte and Stitch and they live close by. We also cared for our daughter’s cat for five months in recent years, while they did renovations. Charlotte came back to visit us regularly once she moved back home! We look forward to chatting to you about your home and your pets’ needs.

My name's Tash and I live in Tamahere with my husband. We are not allowed pets where we rent and I miss having a family pet. I grew up with cats and dogs & love the joy they bring. I'm looking to have some more independence from my marriage, so am looking for 2 weeks to 2 month house sits ideally. I work from home, as I am starting my own virtual business support service. It's very exciting! My previous role was as a housing case worker in homeless prevention. I'm a house proud renter, whose loyal and reliable.

My wife, Sherry and I (Darrell) are retired and traveling the world. Officially our home base is in Alabama in the US with one of our sons, but in reality, we are 100% on the road. Our goal is to spend more than the traditional time in a country while we’re traveling so that we get to see more than a typical tourist. We are just at the right age to be energetic enough to want to see a lot and rational enough to know to take it slow. We both recently retired. I retired from being a Professor of Business Cost Estimating and Sherry closed her emotional therapy business at the end of 2021. Our jobs required a lot of travel and we enjoyed travel so much, we still took a lot of travel trips when we plotted out our vacation time. We have had dogs, cats, a bird and rabbits ourselves in the past and I have done a smattering of farm work with cows. Our last dog, Apollo, was a sweetheart and probably spoiled us since he required virtually no training. He was a White Collie and just seemed to know from the start what he was supposed to do and how he was supposed to behave. In the past year (2022) we have done five house-sittings in the UK for cats and dogs and have found it interesting enough to continue to do it in another part of the world. For the most part our sits were easy ones with the usual small daily problems that come up. The biggest challenge was one cat named Coco that had just started a new diet and she was not particularly found of the "new staff" that would not give her the old goodies. She eventually decided we were okay people -- which we take as high praise from a Siamese cat. Our current plans are to arrive via a cruise ship to New Zealand in 1 November 2023 and leave for Australia on 3 March 2024. We use Whatsapp for international communication if possible.

Hi there! My name is Frances and I live in central Dunedin. I am an Artist that works from home. I find this works in well with offering my services as a house and pet sitter, not only does it allow me to regularly travel around both the South and North Island of New Zealand, but it enables me to spend quality time at home befriending and looking after your pets, giving them that one on one company, attention and continuity of care and routines that they are used too. I am a mature single woman, with no dependents and have an animal-loving personality. I come from a large Dutch, farming family from the Waikato, so from a young age I started house and pet sitting for family and friends. I am a very reliable, honest, clean and tidy person with good communication skills, with references that can verify this to put your mind at rest:) I have had many house sitting positions over the years, the most current being for Alan, in Otautau, Southland (see reference attached). This was a large property with one gorgeous dog and I cared for him for around three months. Over Christmas I house sat for Rosie and Ian in Christchurch for 6 weeks, they had one dog, two cats, a goldfish and a vege patch (see other reference attached). These were both very enjoyable experiences, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their pets and sharing their spaces with them. I also have a picture of Casper the dog in my profile - as you can see, we are out taking him for a bit of a driving lesson :) As my references will tell you, I am a trustworthy and respectful person who communicates well. I am very reliable, clean and tidy and have been told by past home owners that what they appreciated most was not only did they come home to a clean and tidy house, but they could see that their animals were well cared for and loved. I am a bright creative friendly person who you will find a delight to have in your home. Thank you for taking the time to consider my online profile and feel free to call my referees, who will be more than happy to vouch for my character and skills as a house sitter and pet minder. I do hope to meet with you and your pets shortly. Warmest regards...Frances:)
Hi there, I have travelled the world and loved it, but these days I love it as m…
Hi there, I have travelled the world and loved it, but these days I love it as much when I can travel in NZ, and stay in a private home rather than a hotel. I have always loved animals, domesticated and feral, and have had lots of pets over the years. I don't currently have a pet due to my circumstances so I get that pleasure from doting on others' animals. My neighbour has a lovely cat ("Jay Jay") who considers my home part of his domain and routinely visits, takes all the cuddles he can tease out of me, and sleeps peacefully on my bed. I think my place is his refuge from the young children he lives with who haven't yet learned how to pamper him as he clearly believes he deserves ;) After owning my own homes consistently since 1985 I am currently renting in Auckland while my new home is being designed & built on a semi-rural block in the Waikato. I've always taken good care of my own executive-style homes and anything belonging to someone else which I have been responsible for. I am an orderly, neat and tidy person who likes cleanliness, with a bit of ordered chaos too. I have been managing my own several businesses, and my 5th one since 1994. I thoroughly enjoy medium and large dogs, and affectionate cats, and have had both in my family for many years. I grew up with dogs and cats as pets, and I ran a backyard aviary to breed budgies and cockatiels. It was natural, then, for my own children to also grow up with multiple pets and they are better people as a result. We had cats, birds, fish, frogs, and a turtle, and we cared for our neighbours and friends' pets too while they were out of town. In my teens I was blessed with many opportunities to spend considerable time on relatives' farms in the Waikato tending to beef cattle, sheep, dairy cows (pedigree Jersey), horses, ducks, geese, and working dogs with, of course, the annual cycles on lambing, docking, drenching, shearing, calving, hand-rearing, hay-making & feeding out. I loved every minute of it! I recently got the hang of milking goats on a friend's farm in the Waikato. That was a new twist on a familiar theme! :) Riding a camel in the UAE was a treat! However, dogs are my special interest and, when I have my own home built on my block, I intend to breed pedigree dogs. I haven't yet decided between Golden Retrievers or black, long-haired Alsatians. I love both. I am normally a very busy manager but I've developed a love for periods of quiet and rest, particularly in the company of animals. So I do like to take time out regularly for rest, reflection, business planning, contemplation about my clients' complex problems. A few days, a week or more taking care of your lovely home and pets allows me opportunity for these. If I am able to occasionally meet with a client in your area, that would be a bonus, but not essential. I also have a daughter & her family in Taranaki, so if I am caring for your home & animals in that region and can visit them, I'd love that. I would be very happy to take your dog with me to those meetings or to visit my grandchildren, under control of course, but only if you're happy with that and we agree before you leave. One more thing... I have only a few digital photos of me with animals but I will add more as I complete pet-sitting assignments. Meantime you can see Jay Jay (grey/white), and a friend's black cat, our own Milo on my lap watching TV (he loved doing that), my grandson & me petting alpacas on a friend's property, and me in the Red Panda enclosure at Auckland Zoo :). I promise to take good care of your lovely home and of your beloved pets and livestock for you. They will feel well-loved. Kind regards, Ross.

Hi, my name is Maggie. I am a mature and reliable woman, finding myself in an 'empty nest'. Without son and without pets! I've been a homeowner for decades, and so I know the value of having someone who will take good care of your home. Until now I've always had pets, so will love taking care of cats, dogs, chickens and any other animals you may have. If you have a garden or outdoor area, I'm happy to make sure things are maintained. I'm confident in rural and urban environments, having lived in both. Why am I interested in housesitting? I mainly work from home (computer) so am flexible about where I am located. I'm based in Auckland and am employed by the University of Auckland, but enjoy discovering new places now and then. And I have family and friends in other parts of the country so like to be closer to them. I don't smoke, nor am I a party animal. Boringly safe! My experience as a house and pet sitter includes occasional weekends, a three month stint, and everything in between. I've befriended elderly cats, huge dogs, goats and even hand milked a cow as part of my 'sitting' experiences. Happy to answer any questions as you make your decisions.

I became interested in house sitting after hearing about the experience of friends who have been housesitters in NZ and overseas, they both enjoyed the experience. I come from a background working in education as a programme facilitator and trainer and as a Guidance Counsellor at Waitaki Boys High School. I now live in my own property in Oamaru, but I am originally from Christchurch. I am a quiet living, very fit and active outdoors person and I love gardening and caring for animals. My beloved dog died last year and I have not replaced her. I am an artist and writer and very comfortable living on my own. Other interests include tramping, cycling, growing vegetables, permaculture principles and organics. I have been a volunteer at Riding for the Disabled in Oamaru and I'm also a regular volunteer at the local Community Gardens. I am not concerned how remote your property is and I have a preference for lifestyle properties and small farms and Bed and Breakfast establishments. I am experienced with large and small dogs and cats. Over the years I have owned a horse, chickens, goats and pigs. I am also an experienced gardener and can mow lawns. If I were to be chosen to housesit your property, you can be assured your property would be kept in immaculate condition and any animals lovingly cared for and well exercised.

I'm a 58yr old woman, fit and active, engaged in my community, working part-time and currently able to have some flexibility around where I live. I rented my own home in AKL to tenants for a year while I took an opportunity in the Bay of Plenty. I am hoping to buy a home in Cambridge (Waipa NZ) or nearby, as I have fallen in love with it during several recent visits. I'd like to spend time there as a temporary resident before I commit to a purchase. I plan to sell my home when my tenant's lease expires, and therefore require short-term accommodation from mid-Sept to early Dec 2023. Short-term rentals are proving to be scarce in this region for the whole block of time. Because I work from home on an Auckland-based project, I prefer to be within a sensible commute to AKL (ideally less than 2 hrs) for occasional meetings and to keep in touch with friends and family. I am a landlord/lady of one (soon to be two properties) so I have a deep appreciation of the trust we take in letting strangers live in our homes. Fortunately, I have an excellent property manager and tenants. I have previously house-sat in my younger years, in CHC. My family and I have always had excellent reviews on rental accommodation sites such as AirBnB. I travel to CHC to mind my brother's small dog when he goes out of town and I have loved becoming his favourite aunt. As a family, we had cats but after losing two to old age and lymphoma respectively, I haven't wanted to have my heart broken by losing one again. I am known for my "next level" degree of home cleanliness, and I don't smoke or party! If I am trusted to care for your home, I will follow your instructions to a tee, I will respect it as if it were my own, and you will return to find it as you left it (possibly cleaner!). I'm handy in the garden, happy to mow lawns and keep on top of maintenance. As a Project Manager, if you need any work done on your home in your absence, you can leave it with me to manage the works and keep everyone on schedule!

Eight years ago, we decided to have a change of lifestyle. We sold our backpackers hostel and bought a large caravan because we love new areas to explore. In the past we have had corporate careers, managed holiday parks, and been custodians/cooks at a ski lodge. We have had dogs (sadly no longer) and have lived with family on their lifestyle block looking after the chooks, goat and dog. We still love caravan life but would also like to try the housesitting experience in different parts of NZ. (If you have a spare spot for us to put our caravan whilst we look after your property with tender loving care then that would be a real bonus but not a necessity.) As housesitters we would ensure that you would come back to your home after you have been away and find your pets (if you have them) well-loved and your home as you left it.

I am a mature single lady. I am going to be in between homes for a few months so thought I would house sit so as not to impose too much on family and friends. I have house sat in the past mainly for friends. I have my own cat William and my sister has kindly agreed to look after him during this time. If you decide to have me house sit for you, you can expect your home and pet(s) to be well looked after. I am happy to water plants, mow lawns etc.

Hi I am John, I am 63 years old, retired and living in Whanganui moved backfromKerikeri 2020. I was brought up in Masterton and have always had a love for animals. As a child I had Gold Fish and built a Bird Aviary and bred Budgies, Canaries and Quail. Over the school holidays if we weren't away I would feed my friend's and family pets if they were on holiday. I have had cats most of my life and when I moved to Keri keri owned several lifestyle blocks and had beef dry stock, a pet Goat and a dog and a I also looked after neighbour's properties when they were away, so chooks, sheep are lovey to look after also. I have had a dog for most of my time up here in the north. I have spent the last 5 years looking after properties in Opua which were on Book a Bach. I had nothing but good feed back about how clean the properties were from the guests. During my working life I was in sales and I am a good people person and I treated my job as it is was my own business and 90 percent of my sales were repeat business or referals. That is what I aim to achieve with this house sitting venture. Your pets will get to know me as you will and it will make your holiday more enjoyable knowing that they are in good care with a familiar face. I love overseas travel but don't spend enough time travelling around our beautiful country. This will give me the best of both worlds . I look forward to being able to look after your pets and property for you.

I am a responsible and reliable individual who is excited about the opportunity to care for your home and pets while you are away. I love animals, come from a farming background, and have lived with cats and sometimes dogs all my life. I'm an experienced house and pet sitter, and I am confident that I have the skills and experience necessary to provide excellent care for what matters most to you. I am responsible, reliable, and dependable. I work professionally from home and am available during the week, at weekends, and on public holidays. My 15-year-old daughter, who lives separately, joins me on housesits. She we `house-trained' and respectful of other people's property also. I enjoy housesitting as it helps others. I have a tenant at my place, so I enjoy a little time away. Please get in touch with me to discuss this, and I'm available via SKYPE, Zoom, Teams, and sometimes via cellphone. I am excited to hear from you.

I'm a 28 year old female, currently couch hopping with friends in Christchurch. I've just come back from 6 months living in a van, travelling the South Island of New Zealand, and I loved the freedom and flexibility the lifestyle offered. I had a blast getting to do my hobbies - climbing, canyoning, mountaineering, hiking, paragliding - whenever I wanted (and the weather permitted). I've had to return to working, and while I'm trying to re-build some savings, I'm hoping to find some great house-sitting gigs, even better if there are pet pals to hang out with, and save up some money for my next, overseas, adventure. I grew up in the country with dogs, cats, fish and cows. Rottweilers were our go-to puppy of choice; so I'm very comfortable with larger, 'scarier' dog breeds, but love any and all breeds. I also grew up with cats, and raised a few surprise litters of kittens as a youngster. I'm clean & tidy (borderline OCD to some people!). I like to socialise through my hobbies, generally getting outdoors to catch up with friends, so not one to host parties. Though I do enjoy a relaxed board games night in the colder winter months. I work full time as a Marketing Specialist for a small corporate health & wellbeing company. We have an office in Central Christchurch, but I like to work from home as much as I can. I look forward to hearing from you :)

I have recently separated from a 30yr marriage and have lived my entire life until now on a farm . I have experience with pets and farm animals. I am unsure where I want to settle permanently and see house sitting as an opportunity to explore different areas while also looking after others pets in their own environment. I would prefer to have my pets looked after this way myself rather than a pet motel. I love walking and very fit and able. I have the flexibility to work on line when away, and don't have to if I choose. I have my own car. I am currently housesitting in Port chalmers for a Dr.

Kia ora! My name is Sam, im a mature, pet friendly 31y/o wahine. I run my own freelance business offering design and strategy services, mostly in the public sector, health and education space—I also do a bit of cultural consulting in the maori space, volunteering, mentoring babysitting and teaching when I can. I consider myself lucky enough that i don't have to live anywhere particular, I can dictate my hours and I have full freedom over where I reside, as long as I have internet and my laptop I can work anywhere. I decided to become a house sitter when i quit the flatting life to became a digital nomad as it just made sense for my circumstances and havent looked back ever since. I am a considerate respectful house guest, i'm somewhat introverted and happy in my own company so not about to have a party. I like to go out for coffee and walks but am somewhat a home body so your pets will get a lot of attention and aroha. Its likely you’ll come home to the house being cleaner then you left it. (I like to clean) I may have a tendency to bake my clients welcome back treats and occasionally the pets miss me when i'm gone. I am happy to de-weed gardens, water plants, and do general house work. I would love to hear from you and hope you'll consider me as a candidate. Nga mihi.

I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. My main past times are gardening, riding my electric bike, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years I've had numerous significant pets. My first was a calf that I cared for and trained. Because of my fondness for her, my Father kept her until I was seventeen when I went to the Waikato to qualify as a Nurse. Another pet I was particularly fond of was a canary, which sang beautifully and I called him Gusto. Unfortunately, he died during covid. More recently I had a stray cat that determinedly made herself home with me. Pets are great companions and I appreciate them very much. I began house-sitting before retirement, and have cared for cats and dogs, plus a few sheep and a donkey. These situations have been for family, friends, and acquaintances for periods of almost a week to a month.

My partner George and I are currently living in Raglan so we can be closer to family since COVID-19 hit the world. George is retired from the film industry as a camera technician originally from the UK and extremely well travelled. He is very active and interested in skiing, golf, surf, tennis and anything that doesn't require him to get into a boat. I am a former secondary teacher and film industry veteran and also love travel, food and wine. We have lived in Queenstown, Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Gisborne and have owned cats, dogs, ducks and sheep. We are currently tenants as we try to find our next home and have been landlords in the past. We have used house sitters and been house sitters so we have had experience from both perspectives. One of the main reasons we would like to house sit is to spend time with different pets. Due to our desire to travel more we decided not to get any pets and I am missing being around animals. Your pets will be happy to have our attention and company all day. We are happy to house sit in any area and have experience with both small and large dogs and cats. We look forward to meeting you sometime in the future. Thanks Karen & George

Hi! My name is Ashleigh Rigby, and I am 30. I'm a consumer scientist from South Africa who is in New Zealand at the moment. I'm looking into housesitting because my profession is that of hospitality management and the area is tourism-based and I love animals! I have plenty of work experience in managing hotels, country houses, lodges and restaurants and I have done house and pet-sitting since I was a young teenager in my beautiful home city of Hilton , Midlands Meander in South Africa. I have grown up in a pet-loving family, and have experience in all pets from fish, birds, hamsters, Guinee pigs, farm animals, dogs, and reptiles! I am travelling alone whilst taking a break and looking for work in a specific area. Due to my circumstances, I am looking for longer time period of a housesit. I'm a very stay-at-home-mommy type of girl! My most recent housesit was in November 2022, in South Africa where I looked after a lovely little kitten called Tiggy! If you are the kind of owner who loves getting pictures of your animal doing cute things everyday, I'm in! Or, if you prefer to know that your pet is well cared for once a week, then it's fine with me. I will adjust to your needs and let you know exactly what is happening when you require it. I am always available on my phone and easily contactable. I will treat your animals as my own, as I am extremely aware and can relate to the love that your animal requires! I know from experience it can be nerve-wracking to leave a pet with a stranger, so I can assure you that I will look after your animal with the greatest care. If you don't have pets, that's okay! Due to my employment industry mainly involving running hotels, I live a sober, clean and pristine life! I take care of furniture, I make sure to respect the value of household items and I am mindful of electricity usage and water restrictions. My mum would definitely back me up in saying that I take after her when looking after a home. It's your pride and Joy, and it will be mine too. You can expect complete transparency and clear communication with me. Should I notice anything out of the norm, I will make sure to contact you immediately. I am honest, and will be grateful to have the opportunity to live in your home whilst you are away. I hope this gives you a sense of who I am! Have a lovely day, and I look forward to hearing from you.

We treat each house as our own and love the animals as our own. We are honest and reliable. We are fit and active, cycling and walking and kayaking are our main interests. We enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and have travelled extensively overseas.

Hello, I'm a single 39 year old paediatric physio who is looking to change careers and get into film. My contract at Waitakere hospital finishes at the end of December and I plan to have a break during January. I own a small unit which I rent out on Airbnb and need to be near to clean it etc. I would love to own animals of my own (especially a dog), but as I travel a lot and don’t have a good space I think it'd be unfair on them at this stage. I would enjoy looking after any animals if you have any especially a dog for my daily runs/walks. My spare time could be spent on a run/walk/yoga, heading out to a beach or bush, helping out at a community garden, hanging out with friends or relaxing into a few hours of reading/ photography. More of a home body his year and have a bit of work to do on the change of career side of things. I am a very clean, tidy person and probably would be more than usual if living in someone else's house. I'd love to do a bit of gardening as well.

I am a young professional working a 9-5 corporate job in communications. I am trustworthy, reliable, a good communicator, very house proud, and will treat your home and fur babies as if they were my own. I have grown up as a lover of animals (cats in particular) and always had a family cat as a child. My ex partner and I adopted two adorable tabby cats who are mother (Ava) and son (Otis) from a local rescue - they will not be coming with me to house sit. I used to regularly look after my former flatmates golden retriever and black cat which kept me great company during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns! In my spare time I love to bake, read, and get outdoors. I work from home two days a week and am a real homebody who loves to curl up on the couch with a book, a cup of tea, and a furry friend. I would love to have the opportunity to take care of your pride and joy (both pets and home) while you are away! Please feel free to contact me via the provided email or phone.

Hello, we are Lynne and Bob Mitchener. Our working lives began as a registered nurse (Lynne) and an electrician (Bob). Since then we have also worked for non-profit trusts and in the hospitality industry. Our last job, from which we have now retired from was managing a rural retreat centre on ten acres, where we took care of the bookings, looked after the cleaning of the house, the maintenance and grounds. We come with a wealth of practical experience to care for your home and pets. We have cared for cats, dogs, hens and sheep. One lovely pet -sit we had was Harry, a gorgeous little wire-haired foxy cross. We looked after him for three months, and declared that when we eventually retire in our own home, we will find a dog like Harry. However, we are open to falling in love with new varieties, and look forward to caring for your dogs and see them work their charm on us. We have included a photo of Millie, the black labrador with the guilty look on her face. She invited us to her home for one month, about five years back, while her owners were overseas, and we enjoyed the daily walks she took us on to the local beach, where she wanted to play chase the ball until she dropped!! Before her owners went away they gave her a stuffed toy, and told us that it would be "stuffed" before they came home! Three weeks into the house sit, the beloved stuffed toy was still intact, but alas, in the final week, we came home to this mess!!! Oh well, at least we were warned!!! As for cats, we love all and every variety, but are especially partial to ginger moggies. They are so smart. We retired from full time work in April 2017, did a 3 month house sit in Otaki where we looked after a fabulous soft coated wheaten terrier called Lulu, two cats, and 12 chooks! In september 2017 we moved to Taupo where we have retired, and renovating up our home. Two years after this, we were contacted by the owners of lovely Lulu, to tell us they were moving to a retirement village and werent able to take Lulu, so they were needing to rehouse her, sadly. The next four and a bit years were a lovely history for us, as Lulu joined our household and brought much pleasure and joy to our lives. Sadly she is now passed on, so we are available for housesits once again. Our main priority is, we have family in Auckland, and whangapora, so we are especially interested in short housesits in both these places, to catch up with family and friends, especially our new grandson in Stanmore bay. We have done lots of house and pet sitting before, both in NZ and the UK and will look after your home and pets as if our own. We are both creative, caring people, we enjoy reading, walking, cycling, movies and spending time with our friends and family. We have enjoyed cycling the Otago rail trail, the Hauraki rail trail, the old coach road trail and the timber trail. Lynne is a writer and Bob is an artist, he has won several awards for his work. We are a quiet, discreet caring couple and will do everything we can to look after your home and special pets. Thanks for reading our profile, we hope to meet you soon!

My name is John Wilkinson and my wife is Lindy Smith. We are both in our 60’s, now retired after lengthy careers in teaching and secondary school leadership. At the same time as working we have enjoyed a busy family life that has always had at its core cats, dogs and the occasional guinea pig. As a couple we have always been the ‘go to’ people for house and pet care, sitting advice and support for family, friends and work colleagues. I grew up originally in England where my father bred Boxers: so dogs have been a major presence in my childhood and further as family pets throughout our 30 years here in New Zealand. (a tradition continued by our married son and his Boxer dog.) Lindy has always had cats within her family and upbringing and she was the person who introduced me to the joys of a mixed pet household when we started our first home in UK. Our ‘record’ achieved here in New Zealand is 2 cats, 2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs and various temporarily adopted four-legged friends! We are home owners who take pride in our property and would transfer that responsible care to any house we were looking after. We have traveled widely, enjoying different cultures and cuisines and we bring an energetic approach to all we do. We have used a house-sitting service successfully in the past when we had pets and thus appreciate the expectations of house owners: - that their homes will be cherished, and their pets cared for well. In our retirement we are exploring other areas of New Zealand and the world. We both enjoy an active life – cycling, walking and swimming and I have recently taken up Paddle Boarding as a hobby. We are excited by each of our house-sits and the encounters with new people, pets, places and experiences which they provide – but we are mindful of the importance of house owners feeling comfortable with entrusting their precious homes and pets to others. We would be pleased to talk with you and answer any further questions.

Kia Ora! We are a French couple passionate by travels, new cultures and photography. We love to hike and do road trips, take pictures of landscapes and wild animals. We both have animals back home (cats and dogs) and are always more than happy when we are surrounded by pets! Alexis (31yo) has been a technical Director in real estate for 10 years. He could handle any technical issue that may happen in the house. He is a full-time Gardener/Landscaper, so all your garden and interior plants would be in good hands. Alexandra (27yo) adores languages and speaks perfect English. She’s a very organised and multi-tasker person. She could handle any situation where it is needed to speak good English. She just finished her contract at The University of Auckland as a Team Coordinator in Commercial Services. We arrived in NZ in July 2022. We already “house/pet-sitted” in several houses (Herne Bay, Morningside, Freemans Bay, Avondale, Long Bay, Christchurch, Queenstown) for long stays.

I am 67 but still feel like I’m in my 40s. I enjoy keeping fit. I hike, swim, love walking my daughter's labrador on the beach most mornings, l paddle board when condictions are right and practise yoga. As a child I grew up with Ponty the dog then Kim a Golden Spaniel, we also had Whiskers the cat. They were my buddies and were part of the games we played in the back yard. My biggest love was horses and my dapple grey horse called Centennial. John has a love for all animals too and grew up with Shep the border collie, in his adolescence he had pigeons . I volunteer for Riding For The Disabled and absolutely love it. The difference you see in the confidence of the children that are participating is very heart warming. We are confident with handling farm animals. I love animals any size, colour, hairy, bald, old or young and especially their individual personalities. Our first house sitting experience we looked after Ian and Debbie Shuttleworths house and rescue dog named Heney for 6 months while the owners went back home to England. The second was sitting a friend's house Dean and Nancy for the winter while they were in Australia. We will respect your property, keep the yards tidy, mow lawns etc, most importantly the house will be kept spotless and the pets will be loved as if they were our own.
