Te Puke is known as the kiwifruit capital of New Zealand and is perfectly placed for exploring the Bay of Plenty. If you want to discover more about kiwifruit, then there are Kiwifruit Country Tours, whilst there is also Comvita, New Zealand’s famous producer of Manuka Honey to visit at Paengaroa, about ten minutes’ drive from Te Puke.
For those who want some exercise, there is the Papamoa Regional Hills Park to explore, and also the outdoor adventure TECT All Terrain Park. A beach is never too far away in the Western Bay of Plenty. If you’re in Te Puke, Maketu and Pukehina are both popular spots for fishing, and if you go further along the coast there is the stunning Ohope beach too.

We are a semi-retired couple who like to take breaks away from our busy life in Raglan. I have various volunteer roles here, plus grandchildren, and Robin is a trauma therapist working from home - he retired from a medical career in 2020. We have used house sitters for our own home when we used to travel overseas for work and appreciated the security it gave us while we were away, knowing that our home and pets would be lovingly cared for. We would be very happy to provide this for other people. We are both very clean and tidy - we take pride in having a lovely comfortable home. My husband is also very handy (he also has an engineering background which helps here) and can usually fix almost anything! I love to cook, and enjoy gardening, walking and exploring new places. We also enjoy reading and various crafts. We have a cat, and three chickens at the moment. We have had a dog in the past (a beautiful border collie) but he passed away some time ago and because we were travelling a fair bit at that time we haven't got another dog.

Steve and I have been married for almost 42 years and are semi-retired parents and grandparents. We are young at heart and enjoy spending time with our family, grandchildren, and friends. Steve is a part time IT contractor and often works from home. I also work part time, as a self employed private house cleaner. Working part time gives us both the freedom to enjoy not only our hobbies and interests but the grandchildren as well - we often pick them up from school and spend time together. Steve & I both have several different hobbies and interests that we enjoy when we have the chance. I enjoy reading, listening to music, knitting, English paper piecing, hand quilting, and cardmaking. Steve has a great interest in NZ Railway History, railway modelling, listening to music, and gardening. We have housesat for family and cared for their pets, and we have had cats & birds almost all of our married life. In the past we have owned a small lifestyle block on which we ran dry stock, raised calves, tendered to our chickens. Our black Labrador, Luke enjoyed farm life along with his pal Smoky our cat which out lived him by reaching the grand age of 18. Presently we are pet free due to a clause we have in a crosslease agreement forbidding animals. We are an active, fit, retired couple who, because we live in the city have no pets of our own. I am farm raised and have worked with animals all my life until I retired. In the past I have bred Boxers. We are both experienced sitters and have been looking after the pets of others for several years. We have spent a month in UK doing two successful 10-day dog sits for both of which we received 5-star reviews. We have also done several pet sits in Australia and New Zealand. In the summer immediately preceeding Covid we travelled in the South Island for 3 months and pet sat in several locations during that time, getting to know various areas and meeting the locals. We are both active golfers, Warwick is a handyman and I am a keen gardener. Hi there, Thanks for your time. My name is Stephen and I'm a mature, quiet, well adjusted person in his 60's whom loves cats, dogs and most other animals. My sister and I sold our family home in Auckland and decided to 'take a break' from it all and she suggested we try house-sitting. I see this as a win-win for all parties involved, especially the pets as they get to be looked after and cared for in their own home. I love helping owners relax when they go away, providing them with peace of mind knowing that all is well with their loved ones and home. Massimo, my Staffordshire Bull Terrier of 13 years past away in November 2015 (see photo in my profile) and I miss him dearly. This is also a great way of getting my regular 'pet fix' and enjoying a variety of new canine/ feline friends. As a keen photographer, I am also looking forward to exploring and taking some great shots of the local areas. I also love photographing pets whilst they're relaxed at home, so leave me a USB drive and there should be some nice portraits waiting on your return! For the last 20 years I've been working in the support side of Information Technology and will be using this time to research a new career in Organisational Development. This means I will be there for pets that are used to constant companionship as I have my own PC and will spend a fair amount of time on the internet doing this and other leisure activities. Having also owned my own home, I've had cats and/ or dogs for most of my life and will care and cherish yours as if they were my own and I know what it means to take care of and run a household. My sister Sarah is also a sitter with The Housesitting Company and is also doing some sitting through this organisation and we plan to over-lap our schedules so it is highly likely that she will be staying with me at times. Glenn and I have been house sitting for friends and friends of friends since October last year and have just loved the experience. Both Glenn and I are animal lovers. We have owned dogs, cats and chickens over the years. We own two properties of our own in the Tauranga area. These properties are both tenanted out. The reason for us leaving our main home of residence is so we can put a little money behind us and travel overseas to visit our daughter in Wales, UK. I’m a bit of a tidy freak so have always ensured the houses we have looked after are left clean and spotless. I volunteer in the community and spend quite a bit of time walking, cycling, swimming and enjoying yoga. I have my own home which is easy care. I house sat for 2 years 2000-2002 minding cats and dogs and keeping the owners house up to scratch. I was often recalled when the home owners were away. I'm honest, trustworthy and reliable. I held a responsible position for 21 years as PA to a high profile NZ'er until retiring in 2021. I've travelled extensively over the years - lived in the UK for the usual two year OE in my twenties, then was seconded to Singapore for a further two years in 1998. During Covid we were limited to local travel which ticked a lot of boxes and have some very happy memories of travels round NZ, particularly the South Island. I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. Hello my name is Dave! I am a very healthy and fit retired builder/joiner. For 30 years I ran my own building and joinery company. I have been living in Australia and have recently returned as the heat was too much for me! My lovely wife passed away a few years ago after 47 years of marriage. As I am on my own I feel housesitting would be a wonderful way for me to meet new people and see a little bit of New Zealand. I am a young and active senior who retired at Christmas 2021, I had worked with Ontario's largest Children's Mental Health Agency for 18 years. I am a non smoker and tea total (well coffee addict). I arrived in back NZ early 2022 after spending 19 years in Canada. My husband passed away in 2021. Quite the battle to get into MIQ to return home, with the lotto draw they installed !!! I house sat before leaving for Canada in Omokoroa and Mount Maunganui. One was an Avocado Orchard and they had 70 Parrots in aviaries on the property, such fun. I have been the proud owner of 5 rescue Old English Sheepdogs.. not all at the same time !!!! so I know about grooming. My last dog Boomer was 116lbs, (52.5kg) a big strong boy and the light of our lives. In 2020 we started to foster dogs brought up from Texas from the "high kill" pounds. Copper was our first, A Walker Coon Hound... never heard of them before and what a delight with his howl. I will leave your home as you left it though I do enjoy gardening and cleaning windows... My hobbies are reading, walking, knitting and TV..... I am a friendly person. get on with most people, I am the listener not the talker... I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. My main past times are gardening, riding my electric bike, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years I've had numerous significant pets. My first was a calf that I cared for and trained. Because of my fondness for her, my Father kept her until I was seventeen when I went to the Waikato to qualify as a Nurse. Another pet I was particularly fond of was a canary, which sang beautifully and I called him Gusto. Unfortunately, he died during covid. More recently I had a stray cat that determinedly made herself home with me. Pets are great companions and I appreciate them very much. I began house-sitting before retirement, and have cared for cats and dogs, plus a few sheep and a donkey. These situations have been for family, friends, and acquaintances for periods of almost a week to a month.

Hi, we are Tracey & Mick - both self employed work from home professionals. Tracey is a weight loss consultant & Mick an IT consultant. We are parents of 4 adult children & are a blended family. We have no pets at present and decided not to, to allow us to travel more easily. Previously we had 9 chickens - our 'other children'. We love animals and have had experience with our own cats (5), rabbit, guinea pigs, chickens and a Labrador dog (Abby). We even got to look after Sea Monkeys for one of our boys. One of our boys has Purebred American Bulldogs & we love visiting & playing with them. In the recent Auckland floods (for the 2nd time) close friends of ours bought their 6 chickens to us, to care for, until they were able to live in their home again - the first time we had them for over 6 months and more recently 3 months. Their 'babies' were well loved & looked after. Mick is a keen diver and loves to get out in the garden, Tracey used to be a professional cleaner so keeping a home sparkling clean is my thing - I also love mowing lawns. We both love to walk and do lengthier hikes & can be found in the mornings trying to beat each other at Wordle & Quordle. We are both people who take pride and care not only in our home (including the grounds) but any home we visit or stay in. We absolutely both respect your home is your castle, that your pets are your joy and we want you to go away knowing we will love your animals and care for them & your house (and grounds if required) so you can just relax. Im a keen and active rugby player in England and I have worked and saved hard to travel to New Zealand for your summer. I work in a dog friendly hotel in many high responsibility roles such as, office work, resident management, general maintenance of rooms and gardening, barman and management of deliveries. A 'jack' of all trades, no pun intended! In these positions, personal hygiene is a must and something i personally take pride in. As we are a dog friendly hotel, even when I am at work I am still providing and caring for dogs. At home I take care of 3 dogs, a young puppy a middle child and a senior dog who requires extra attention. she takes regular medication which I administer and monitor. she recently had a large swelling in her face, a cyst of sorts which meant the use of other specialist antibiotics and ointments had to be used. Growing up I have never been without dogs and have lots of experience taking care of them. I am very active with them with regular walks. I love spending time with dogs and would like to have the opportunity to have this companionship along my travels. I will not be working in the time of house sitting arrangements so I will have plenty of time to spend with your pets should they be used to/need a lot of attention. we have a resident cat at the hotel as well which I am responsible for too. In terms of house care I am used to living on my own, washing, cleaning, bins, Laundry etc, so your house will be in safe hands along with your pets. I’m a retired pet lover but because I often go to Auckland to visit family I can’t have a pet of my own. Because I am often in Auckland I could possibly be available for in person interviews for Auckland sits. I grew up in Auckland but have lived in Opotiki for 18 years and love it here. I don’t live in the township but in the very small beach suburb of Tirohanga, only one house back from the beach. There are 30 houses/baches and about half of them are holiday homes. Of the other half at least 40% are occupied by retired people. Lots of them have pets and I fill my animal craving by frequently visiting them. I’m even lucky enough to have a nearly daily visit from my neighbours cat, “Smoke” I can’t see the beach but at night I can hear the waves crashing. I’m physically fit and as I live near a beautiful beach I walk on the beach or cycle track daily. I do 20 to 40 minutes with the occasional 60 minutes thrown in for good luck. I love to read and play board or card games, especially word games. I’m enjoying my retirement but feel like I need to stretch myself a little and house sitting will do that. I’m a gregarious but also very happy with my own company as long as I have a book to read! I’m definitely conscious and reliable as my references will concur. Hello there, My name is Donna and I'm a 60 year old mother of three children. I grew up in the Hutt Valley and have spent most of my life in the Wellington/Wairarapa area. For the past 10 years, I've been a healthcare assistance at a number of retirement villages in the Wellington region. While not working, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, going for bush walks and reading a good novel. Cam and I(Meg) are long term renters and through working seasonally we have lived in multiple peoples personal homes (i.e. not strictly rental properties) while they have relocated elsewhere for the respective season. Through these living arrangements we have felt fortunate to have a close relationship with the homeowners, which for us, creates a deeper respect of the property and the things living on it (some previous examples include many plants and a cat). As a house sitter you can expect us to care for your space like it is our own, to the standards you expect. If you have animals or plant friends that need to be cared for you can trust that they will be in good hands. We have had multiple animals throughout our lives and have both worked with animals of all kinds, ranging from lizards to livestock and are definitely not strangers to some of the less glamorous aspects of pet ownership (i.e. waste cleanup, mild illnesses, etc.) Please consider allowing Cam and I to care for your home, as travelers it is such an amazing way to spend time in places where we will be temporarily and we always intend to leave a space better than when we arrived! I worked for many years in the Hair and Beauty industry as a Hairdresser and Beauty therapist. I have owned business and employed staff in the past. I am a very fit and active retiree. I left the workforce eight years ago to travel to various parts of the world, including some of NZ which I hadn’t yet been to. I have been involved in sport all my life and interested in organics and sustainabilities for many years, so decided to become a Woofer (Willing Worker On Organic Farms). I have thoroughly enjoyed all my placements in NZ, Australia, USA and Portugal. I have visited places and met people that I would never had the chance as a tourist and learnt about growing fruits, vegetables and raising animals in an totally organic and sustainable manner. I have looked after many animals and learnt how to give back to the land for future harvests. Six years ago in 2018 I bought a lifestyle property in the Far North, so have not been able to travel as much, or house sit as I used to, while working hard on my land. Now however I have more spare time, & look forward to being able to travel in NZ. I currently work on my orchard of 100+ trees of every description imaginable, & 4 large vegetable plots. I farm totally organically, eat in season, & am self sufficient(++) with fruit, vegetables & eggs from my 5 chickens. I am able to swap my excesses for milk, meat, cheese & bread! I feel very fortunate. I also have extra acreage which I use for growing grass, (local farmer makes hay in summer). I have also done two caminos (long walks) in both France, and Portugal into Spain. These were 750 and 700km respectively, in 2014 & 2017. My most recent was from Lisbon, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I have been a proud homeowner since 1980. As a house sitter, you will have someone with old fashion values of care & respect for your property, a good work ethic, totally reliable & honest. As for pets, when my children were growing up, we had a Staffordshire bull terrier, rabbits, cats, cockatiel and baby goats. Currently I have 5 chickens. While woofing I have looked after lots of dogs, cats, goats (learnt to milk), chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, and loved all those times. My woofing hosts would sometimes leave me to house sit at weekends, or in one case, for 10 days when an unavoidable event happened. On that occasion I looked after a small farmlet of goats, cows chickens, vegetable garden, orchard....the entire property. I loved the challenge and was totally equal to the task of overall management. I love outdoors work. Obviously I enjoy walking, so dogs love me for their twice daily long walks. I've babysitted a few times when I was in Highschool. I grew up with 2 cats and 1 dog (miniature Pinscher) but unfornutately, he died when I was young... My love for dogs never changed and I always though of sharing my life with them when the moment is adequate. Nadege grew up in a farm with a few cats. She use to work in the agriculture world. She is used to livestock and working/non-working dogs. Due to her field of work she has taken care of house and farm while the owners where gone which includes dog/cat/cow/goose/chickens sitting. Our lovely litlle cat Uma, which we adopt a year ago, is staying with Nadege's family at the moment as we couldn't take her with us... Both David and I grew up in cities, he in Illinois and me in Massachusetts. We met in the US Navy. David and I retired as Lieutenant Commanders from the United States Navy in 1994. Our duty stations have included Adak, Alaska; Norfolk, Virginia, Pensacola, Florida; and Honolulu, Hawaii. After retiring, I started and taught a Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Class at a Hawaii High School. We then moved to Billings, Montana, where we lived from 1996 to 2001. When our youngest of two children graduated from high school, we moved to rural Montana and built a log home, where we have lived since 2001. We have1 dog (miniature poodle), and numerous outdoor cats. I have also had birds (cockatiel, parakeet, finch & canary), guinea pigs and fish as pets. David also has a knowledge of beef cattle, goats, ducks, and chickens. My hobbies include vegetable gardening, bird watching, and needlework. David's main hobby is wood working. He works part time as a ranch hand and does odd jobs such as carpentry, plumbing and repairs. He has worked at farming for local ranches and has knowledge and can repair most farm machinery. We both spent 12 years as members of the local volunteer fire department, he as chief, and me as secretary treasurer. I also ran the weekly senior meal program in our small community for 17 years. Our son is a resident of New Zealand who met his New Zealand wife in Osan Korea. They live in Dunedin where he works at the University of Otago, and she is a teacher at a local school. This will be our fifth visit to New Zealand, and we have seen a lot of the country in the previous 3 visits. My sons' children are 20, 18, and 16. They live at the University. We would love to take care of your pets and home while you are away and while we are in NZ visiting my son and his family. We arrive the end of January 11, 2025 and will leave March 2, 2025. Growing up, my family had a Samoyed dog and two cats. My father was also the local dog walker and I often walked the dogs as well. I have adopted bunnies, guinea pigs and 8 hens from friends who could no longer care for their animals. On top of this, I transformed our 1/4 acre section into a stunning garden and started a tutoring business. When friends went away,I would care for their animals either at their homes or at my home. Once I looked after a rabbit that needed daily injections for eight weeks . Currently, I am a house owner and I have a rental property in Auckland.I also teach full-time at a girls school and am responsible for the learning support department. With the goal of one day retiring outside of Auckland I would love an opportunity to look after someone else’s home and animals and explore other parts of the country. I am in my happy place with animals and nature and I am very fit, energetic and reliable. I enjoy road cycling, walking, yoga and swimming. My day typically starts at 5.30 am with a walk before work and finishes with another walk and sometimes yoga. At weekends, I cycle regularly 50 -70 kms for leisure. My other interests are vegetable gardening, reading and cooking. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently two cats), we love animals! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. In July we are returning after 5 years working in Bangkok at an international school. Before we left NZ we sold our home and did 3 house sits before leaving the country. They all went very well. Upon arriving back we will be house sitting, with current bookings, from mid-July until early January. From that point on we are looking to add future house sits. Hello I'm Jane. My husband, Kerrin. and I live in a wonderful spot in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand where we are lucky enough to share a beautiful beach community with like-minded, fun people. We love getting out and trying new things, having adventures, spending time with family and exploring our magnificent country and we have been on some wonderful trips in our trusty caravan. We have more freedom now that Kerrin is semi-retired and can come and go as he pleases. He has been landscaping for 34 years and would be very happy to do any repair and maintenance work such as paving or fencing, or even new work you might want to have done while you’re away. I am able to work remotely and am happy to take it with me. However, we have found it is not that easy to do in a caravan, thus the idea of housesitting! Of course this means I would be at home with your pets all day most days. We have also hosted BnB before so are aware of what is important to hosts, and would be very respectful of your property. I am also very house proud and a bit of a clean freak so you can be assured your house will be spotless! Having lived on a farm in Zimbabwe I am very used to working with all sorts of animals and have a huge love for them. We raised so many orphaned animals from deer, to squirrels and owls and nursed many injured or sick animals back to health. As well as this, we had 5 dogs, 3 cats, 2 aviaries and many little animals like rabbits, tortoises, guinea pigs and hamsters. My biggest challenge moving here 20 years ago was only being able to have one pet!! I have often looked after pets for friends and family. At the moment I have a Spoodle staying for a week and a friend drops her dog off with us everyday. I love taking them all walking on the beach- so special seeing them all playing and chasing each other! Last Christmas we house sat for my son for 10 days to look after his cats and chickens. I love the chance it gives me to have more animals in my life!

We lived and worked in Christchurch for 22 years, before moving to Papamoa 9 years ago. We have owned our own home for most of our 49 years of marriage, and have always taken pride in keeping both house and garden tidy and well maintained. We are genuine animal lovers and have had our own pets, mostly dogs, for all of that time. As our sons were growing up, our household pets also included a cockatiel, a black-hooded rat, and 2 goldfish! We have also frequently looked after a neighbour's diabetic cat, including giving daily insulin injections. As we are retired, we have more time to devote to your pets and your home. After our last elderly dog passed away 7 years ago, we really missed having a dog in our home, so became approved volunteer puppy boarders for Blind/Low Vision puppies, and are still enjoying providing this service. Allan's parents were dairy farmers, and he loved farm life. He is an enthusiastic golfer and gardener, a Justice of the Peace, and volunteers for the Papamoa Community patrol. Jenny is also a keen gardener, enjoys both an exercise/social group and a craft group, volunteers regularly at Good Neighbour Food Rescue, and loves being involved with a Music and Movement group for preschoolers and their Mums. We both belong to Probus, and are also rostered on for several roles at our church. As we have friends and family in Christchurch and various parts of the North Island, we are excited about the prospect of house sitting when we travel to those areas, as well as when we explore new areas that we haven't yet been to. My children and I lived on a 10 acre block in Waimauku for several years and cared for a variety of animals including cats, dogs, hens, sheep, cows, and the occasional rabbit and duck! Because of Geoff's years spent at sea his opportunities to care for pets have been limited, but in his younger years his family owned cats, dogs and budgies. Geoff and I spend the summer months,October through to April, in New Zealand, which is when we are available for house sitting. We have a yacht berthed in Penang, Malaysia, and we are there during New Zealand's winter months. Geoff has spent nearly 13 years cruising in South East Asia, and I joined him in 2012. Geoff is a shipwright and is capable of servicing a wide range of appliances, machinery etc.He served in the New Zealand navy for 8 years and after leaving he worked as a commercial diver whilst building his first yacht. After sailing for many years in the Pacific, Australia, Africa and Europe, he settled in Brisbane, where he set up his shipwright business. He then built his second yacht and set sail for South East Asia. My previous working life involved a variety of positions, including working as a supervisor in a childcare centre in Waimauku, Auckland, and then as a sterile services technician at North Shore hospital in Auckland. I have two sons who live in the Netherlands and Belgium, and 1 grandson. Because of our lifestyle on the yacht we are organised and tidy in our habits. We enjoy exploring new environments, so house sitting promises to be a great way to meet new people, have some much-needed interaction with animals again, and reunite us with different parts of our country after being away for so many years. When I was married and we bought our first house, having pets was a top priority. After 3 years we had 3 cats (Tabby, Tina and Kate) and 2 Beagles (Tony and Lucy). I have mainly worked in Computer and Project environments but after studying one year part time for an Animal Care certificate I worked 5 days a week in my normal job and 1 day at a well established and reputable Vet clinic in Remuera. By this stage I was divorced and the family consisted of the beagles, Tabby and me. I have also been a volunteer kennel assistant at SPCA. I am comfortable giving medication to pets and have looked after cats, dogs, birds, fish and rats. All of my animals have lived a happy and long life. Tony suffered from cancer later in his life but with care and chemo from VSG and at home he got a new lease of life and was with me for another 2 years of quality time. I no longer have pets of my own so I would really love the opportunity to care for yours, either outside of Auckland when I ready for a break or in Auckland for a 'staycation' I am mature, responsible, respectful and resourceful. I ensured our Airbnb house was clean and well presented and that the garden was appealing and well managed. I have always had pets those being cats, dogs, chickens, canaries, goldfish - although we do not presently have a pet as sadly our beautiful 14 year old dog Bosco passed away this year My husband is experienced in managing livestock as he was brought up on a farm. I know how to care for animals giving them time, exercise, fresh water and good food. I am also aware of the signs of when a pet is feeling unwell and when to take to the vet. Recently my 15 coloured sheep and their new lambs have been sold. Caring for others (humans and animals) is what I do best.. Until his recent death I cared for my 86 yr old family friend who had health problems. This enabled him to remain living in his own home. Kia ora, we are Rosie and Taz. We have lived in New Zealand since winter of 2022 and have been professionally housesitting for the last 18 months. Rosie's father is from NZ and Taz has extended family who emigrated here many years ago. We plan to make our long term home in New Zealand. We also have lots of experience housesitting for friends and family be it an overnight stay or multiple weeks of sitting. We started housesitting as an option from living and travelling in our van around NZ but now have our own home in rural Kerikeri. We find bonding with animals is often very easy and natural. In our personal lives we have cared for many dogs and cats in houseshares in the UK (where we lived previously) including rescuing and raising a GSD mix at 9 months old (Hank) between 4 friends. Hank is now 10 and thriving! We understand housesit-ees with rescue pets may have more concerns due to their pets rescue 'quirks' but want them to know we are very familiar with this territory. Patience and consistency are so important and we are happy to take on the routines needed so your pet is at their best while you are gone. I have been working in a travelling sales role all around NZ for more than 30 years... working, travelling and usually staying in motels or my time share accommodation, which tends to be a little expensive over the year. I have flexibility and can work any in area. I am normally at work daily for around 5-6 hours and home mid afternoon to do paper work etc. feed, walk animals, and prepare dinner. I own 2 houses and at present have them both rented with tenants and flatmates. So I understand the privilege of owning a house and totally respect other peoples property and their belongings. I have done a lot of housing sitting over the years and have cared for and feed many animals. Auckland for 3 months looking after dogs and cats. Farm animals or feeding chickens, which is no problem as I am a country girl at heart. I have had looked after 3 large dogs. One that required monitored medication daily and exercise. I have also had to feed unwell cats medicine etc and have no problem caring for your pets no matter what there needs. I enjoy the company of animals especially since I am away from home so much. I love all animals and especially their little characters. Whilst I am at home during the summer months, I used to host overseas students that come to NZ to learn English. I have had many students over the years, Swiss, Thai, Arabian, Japanese, Chiian, Brazilian. We are a couple in our late 20s and early 30s living in Wellington. We love housesitting because it combines two of the things we both really love; travelling and pets. Due to our current migratory situation we do not have pets and house sitting is a way we can enjoy the company of animals and explore new suburbs. We have both had dogs and cats in the past. Nachi has also volunteered with the SPCA where she looked after chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs amongst others. She also attended a farm school and has experience caring for farm animals. We believe that animals are part of the family and will go above and beyond to ensure they are well looked after and don't miss their human family too much while you are away. We have been housesitting since June 2021 and have become the biggest fans of it. We love being able to meet and spend time with many different fur-friends. Life is one big adventure! I like to be kept busy; I love to travel, discovering out of the way places, meeting new people & embracing life. But my family pets have always been a top priority. House sitting offers some exciting opportunities, but more specifically it will provide me with the pleasures of 'adopting' your family pets, if only for a short time. (And, I certainly miss not having my own pet to care for). There has always been a cat or dog (or both) in the house and then there have been the children's tropical fish, German rat, guinea pigs, rabbits, and birds! We've even had a couple of cats 'adopt' us! I also volunteered for 18 months at a bird rescue centre a few years ago which was a very rewarding experience. From a young age until her early 20s, I also used to spend a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm where they had a dairy herd, goats and a chicken run. Animals have always featured in my life. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful House & pet sitting opportunities over the past 3 years (with a global house sitting company) looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds - most of these sits were while I was based in the UK. I'm now cutting back on my time away from NZ and, after hearing very positive comments about The Housesitting Company, have decided to join so that I can focus more on NZ sits. We are the lucky ones. We get to travel, explore new places, meet new people and look after your pets. My husband Steve and I have 4 grown up daughters, and 3 delightful grandchildren. We have worked hard in our lives, and our time to explore, travel and see our beautiful country is now. We have both been brought up on Dairy and Sheep/Beef farms. We have a small lifestyle block (12 acres) near Taupo where one of our adult children lives. We have a deep love of animals and both Steve and I are active relaxers, which means your dogs will get loads of walking, activities and cuddles while you are away. My recent sit, in Turiko, required care of chickens and lawns, both of which I tended with care. The chooks made interesting subjects to draw. As a sitter I live quietly. Because I love home Ill be at yours most of the time, popping out for the odd 4 hour work shift, shopping, walking, and meeting friends. If you have gardens Ill do a spot of weeding, am happy to mow lawns, and generally keep indoors and out neat and tidy. I walk most days and enjoy walking dogs, perferring smaller breds. Youll return home to find your house exactly as you left it, and if time permits, a casserole in the fridge and fruit bowl on the bench. Your home will welcome you back.

Two weeks 2014. Other times in Auckland, while a friend visited UK, collected mail, fed cat, clean house, water plants, this lasted five weeks. At present restoring a colonial house in Leigh area, caring for cats, little goats, chickens and a dog, since then work has stopped. My latest Housesit was in Western Springs for ten days, the ginger cat Lucy had a stroke so needed a lot of care. Lucy loved to sleep on the bed with me, I loved having her close. The other cat Diesel was more independent. My other duties were watering the garden and collecting the mail. Also over the Xmas new year period I went to houses with sole purpose of feeding, patting and caring for four different cats. Also specialise in turtle minding, feeding for my son and his girlfriend. I am an animal lover who is kind and considerate who will care for your pets and house with love. The gorgeous pets I have cared for include cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, sheep, chickens, cows, and guinea pigs. I do prefer to look after cats as I work during the day (Please note: I do not work from home, I work as a temp) if you have a dog that can be left for the day that may work to. I love meeting new pets and especially love to catch up with wee friends I have cared for in the past. I absolutely adore cats and dogs, and have met some very interesting characters along the way! and I look forward to meeting many more. I grew up with a Cat and dog, and just love their company and playing with them, and don't mind at all if they snuggle up in bed. I'm also happy to administer medication and flea treatments etc. and take your wee friend to the vet if required. I can assure you that your house will be spotless on your return and I will treat it as if it were my own home, I'm quite the perfectionist. More than happy to water plants, garden etc. and really whatever else needs to be done, you only have to ask. My gardening experience is very limited & I don't mow lawns. Her job is a freelance graphic designer, so she is used to remote working. She has been a house sitter several times. She has also done some couch-surfing many times with good reviews. We are pretty much home birds and are very happy to chill and read or make friends with your lovely pets. The main reason being that we are animal lovers and Lesley especially is feeling pet deprived at the moment since having to put down our most adored cat Ginger 18 months ago. We have taken the decision not to replace him at for the moment so she has become that annoying person that has to pet everybody's dog on the beach and talk to every cat in the street! Kia Ora! We’re Emma and Elias, twins on tour through New Zealand with a working holiday visa, eager to explore the country and its people. Whilst looking for an accommodation we’ve stumbled upon house/pet sitting, which seemed perfect to us both. Both of us adore pets and animals in general and even though we only have fish at home;), both of us have plenty of experience, especially with dogs. I, Emma, did a school exchange in 2020 and lived in a family with 3 dogs (a husky and 2 adopted strays). I took care of them every day of the year, taking all three of them on long walks through the beautiful nature of Andalusia and still, almost three years later, I miss them dearly. I also made a habit out of going to the local Dog-Rescue-Center, taking little pups without a home on walks along the beach. I, Elias, have a close friend with 3 young australian shepherds. Back in Germany I joined them for a walk every day over the last year and cared for them whenever the family was away. I’ve helped educating them since the age of 12 weeks and went through all stages of adolescence with the little rascals. All three of them have a special place in my heart and they will be my first stop when this travel experience comes to an end. Even though both of us have more experience taking care of dogs, we have helped friends and family with cats whenever we had the chance to. If you choose us as sitters you can expect two young, responsible adults to take care of both your home and your animal/s with lots of love and passion. Also, we bring plenty of time with us due to us not working at all or only working part time! That means we are very flexible and can always prioritize your pet/s. Retirees available to care for your home and pets anywhere in New Zealand as their own. We have always had pets mainly cats, dogs and a few chooks in our lives from childhood. Since marriage we have always owned cats and dogs, firstly Asti and Loti, two Burmese cats, then a tabby rescue cat who was very shy but she loved our Black Lab Joey, they were great mates. After both passed away our younger son came home with Lucy a rescue dog who was found in a cat cage in a wardrobe. Lucy can home dressed in dolls cloths and was so small she could sit on my knees. We tried to socialise her with other dogs without success but Lucy was a faithful companion who we walked at night to give her the space she needed to not become stressed around other dogs. Our children have their own families and our sons both have dogs, Ash, a Staffy and Poppy, a Labradoodle, totally different dogs. Ash is always so excited to see us and has to receive a cuddly and then settles down whereas Poppy is more laid back, come to see us but not as excited. We are living with Poppy at the moment and walk her most days. Our daughter has a Burmese cat who always sits on Janice knee at night, but she does the sitting, if you pick her up she takes a while to settle. I have two friends one with an old LabX Sammie and the other a Border Collie, Lockie who we both have a lot of contact with. Sammie, we have looked after at both his home and ours many times. In our professional life, Brian was an ideals person designing many electronics products, and I was the administration and finance person for companies we owned over our working life. We raised three children and have 5 grandchildren living in Auckland and Wellington. Our home is in Auckland but we spend a lot of time between both cities. We are always on the go, helping in the community, renovating family homes, out tramping, yachting, cycling, skiing, travelling and spending time with our grandchildren. Brian can turn his hand to most things in the home and garden but does know his limits and will call in professionals if need be. Both non smokers, enjoy clean living with clean criminal international and local records. We met in Malaysia while working as volunteers with cats and dogs for SPCA in early 2015. After that we did a period of volunteers with tigers in Thailand. Highlight of our lives. Great experience to be so close and intimate with a wild animals. Few scars but lived to tell all the tales. After we worked with them, cats and dogs are so easy. Next, hoping to spend some time with elephants. We have done home sitting in NZ as well as offshore in Europe and China as well as a 4 week stay in Malaysia. Although we like to travel, live clean and appreciate clean houses so your home will be looked after. Although not fantastic green fingers, we will happily mow your grass and pull a few weeds as required. As we both still work part time, appreciate wi-fi so we can still receive emails etc. Sky is not important cause we rather be outside enjoying open air as against watching TV. Also since 2017, a volunteer firefighter originally with Otorohanga but would consider helping any local volunteer brigade. Rem has in the past also looked after NZ Police dogs while their handler has gone on holiday so the average dog should be relatively easy. Happy to walk the dogs and where possible, take them to the beach if possible. Hopefully have secure parking for the BMW as well? Since Feb 2017 we have lived in Otorohanga and have looked after various local and surrounding properties. A 550 acre grazing farm and a very upmarket lifestyle house. Although it’s been fun here, we are ready for another area from now on. Long term housesits preferred but will consider short options as well. Yuling now lives in Wellington full time while Rem commutes.

I graduated from Cardiff University with an honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering and later gained a Masters degree in the same subject at Sheffield University. I am married to Chris Mundy, an editor at NZQA, Wellington. Chris and I grew up with pets in our families, and from this we gained a life-long love of animals. Over the years, we have had many different animals as pets, including a sheep which eventually died of old age!, a golden retriever, a duckling, rabbits, a weta and doves, all of which were much loved by us and our two children. We also adopted the school's cockatoo and axolotl during school holidays. We took our friend's cat to be with our family whilst they worked overseas. Sadly, our adorable all white cat named Pearl has passed away and we no longer have any pets. So, it would be really lovely to be able to look after someone else's pets. As we no longer have children living with us, we have more freedom to explore and travel to new places, which we both love doing. I have been an engineering manager as well as a water and wastewater engineer and Maria has been a contract gardener and property manager. I am currently a care giver 2 days per week on Mondays and Tuesdays although there is some flexibility around that, We have now completed most of our outstanding projects at home and anticipate having more time to explore NZ and catch up with friends. We have 2 adult children who have their own lives and we no longer have any pets. House sitting now seems a good option for us. To date we have never house sat except for friends and family. Usually we stay in motels and use AirBnb. We have owned our own houses since 1980 except for a period of 2 years years when we rented in Wellington. This was because we relocated after the Christchurch earthquakes which was where we were both born. We have owned a number of dogs and cats including a samoid, a corgi and an old english sheep dog. We have also had a variety of rabbits, guinea pigs, a white rat, mice and budgies. Whatever your pet we will love it and look after it as if it were our own. As a homeowner you will find we have complementary skills as well as looking after pets. These include home handy man, gardening and housekeeping skills. We both do substantial walks every day so exercising your pet will be a pleasure. More importantly we are honest and reliable and have excellent communication skills ensuring good feedback to you if anything unusual were to occur.

Our home base is on a small island in western Canada. We are homeowners and fully understand the housesitting social contract and responsibilities. We currently have trustworthy housesitters in our home while we are away. Peter and I, make a great housesitting team. I take the lead with the animal and home care, Peter supports me by playing with the pets and cuddle time. He also leads our dog walking explorations into nature. As our three children grew, our home was full of much loved animals. We had two family cats and two family dogs. Oliver, the cat was much loved in the neighbourhood. During the day he would sit by the gate, greet people, and beg for a pat. During the evening, when he was not snuggled up next to the dog, or swatting her tail, he would find a lap and stay there purring. He stayed in our family for 20 years. Lassie, a border collie/lab/husky cross is perhaps the most acclaimed of all our family pets. Our children still talk of her with great love. We adopted her when she was two years old. She 'heeled' with the click of a finger and kept guard over our children when they were young. She was the most amazing and lovable dog - her photo has an honoured place in our home. In the past, we have cared for cats, dogs, sheep, pigs, bees, chickens, ducks, fischers parrot, rabbits, and hamsters. The key in caring for pets is to have established expectations: food and exercise routines/cuddle times and ensure that animals have ample fresh water everyday. We love all animals and plants and can turn my hand to most tasks involved in caring for them. Also, I might add that I enjoy exploring regenerative agriculture concepts. I am a founding director of School Orchards Africa Society, in Tanzania. Having built our home and hobby farm, Peter is familiar with most house systems, on and off grid. He is a good guitar player. After selling our home and returning from the UK in 2021, we decided to travel around our stunning country while we work remotely and haven't looked back since. We absolutely love animals and enjoyed house sitting so much back in the UK, even after we bought our own home, that we decided to make it a permanent part of our new life back in NZ. We've even launched our own website, Bestish Life, to encourage new house sitters to explore NZ. With us you'll be getting a professional level service with a friendly, reliable and personable approach. Please note we're only interested in sits 3 weeks or longer & without dogs so we can make the most of exploring the area and community. House sitting is a great chance to enjoy a variety of communities and within a week of starting our first NZ house sit we've been booked up for the majority of 2022, 2023 and even 2024. We're very experienced, never pulled out of a sit, and have great references and police checks available so you can have confidence that you're in good hands. We've looked after various property types before, anything from multi-story homes with gardens and pools, apartments or a secluded colonial era bed and breakfast, all the way to rural lifestyle blocks with farm animals and living partially off grid. Since returning to NZ our speciality has certainly been rural lifestyle blocks as we love the peace and quiet of the countryside and exploring nature. We're extremely well organised, tidy, honest, flexible and caring. You can expect to return to your home as clean as you left it, if not cleaner, and with very happy pets. We've never pulled out of a sit as we're extremely reliable and the last thing we'd want is for you to have an issue because of us before you go on holiday. Experienced in garden and lawn care, spa and pool maintenance, rain and bore water tank system monitoring, ant prevention and setting pest control traps. As previous homeowners, we have enough common sense to know when to tackle any maintenance issues which may arise and when to request advice. We're also happy to do turnover service if you operate an active Air BnB on your property. We'll require a reliable unlimited internet connection (as we work remotely) and off street parking for our car. As non-smokers we're not interested in any sits where you normally smoke/vape indoors.

Hi there, We are Adam and Eszter, a friendly couple in our late 30s. We are originally from Hungary, but have been living in New Zealand for more than 6 years. We are NZ citizens. I, Adam, grew up on a lifestyle farm on the countryside, where I had the chance of playing with and taking care of many types of animals mainly cats, dogs, chickens, ducks and pigs. We also often went around to check out the neighbors' sheep, cows and horses. I believe that my sensible personality makes me a good match to many kinds of animals. Also my family has long line of gardeners, and I also inherited a bit of the green thumb. My profession is IT engineer working at FoodStuffs 9-5 as a Data Insights Manager. As an engineer I also enjoy being the handyman around the house, and I like to get involved in DIY project in my free time. I, Eszter, am from a mid-size city of Hungary. My mother is from a small farm, where I had the pleasure of spending my childhood summers. I loved the various kinds of animals, cats, dogs, chicken and horses, and all the works around the house. Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to read our profile. Our names are Charlotte (Lottie) Jepson and James O'Hern, we're both 30 years old and originally from the UK. We've been in New Zealand for over 3 years and we're looking to make this wonderful country our home. We've fallen in love with the place and see ourselves living here long term. The reason for house sitting at the moment is because we've been travelling regularly between the UK and NZ in the last 12 months. Due to the shorter stints in NZ, usually 8-12 weeks at a time, getting a lease on a house for short periods is challenging and we'd prefer to spend time with friends, camping or housesitting which offers more variety and flexibility for us. Our interests are hiking, camping, cycling, surfing, reading, cooking and travelling overseas - almost anything outdoorsy. Between us we've had a several pets of our own, completed a number of housesits, and regularly look after relatives pets, so we have a lot of experience looking after animals and making sure they're well fed, cleaned, walked, loved and rested - plus we all keep each other company which is just as important. We're both able to work remotely, so we're always able to stay at home for long periods of the day to look after pets. If you choose us to look after your pet(s) and home, they will be in safe hands. We're a clean and organised so we can stay on top of managing the house will make sure things get done on time. We're also aware that regular updates and good communication will help you enjoy your time away. We're respectful and mindful of the space we're using so you'll find the house in the same condition when you return home.
