I enjoy house-sitting - helping others, particularly with pets and garden so that they feel better about being away from home. I have been house-sitting, almost continuously since January 2023. So far, no problems with any of the pets! Walking dogs and throwing ball for them - especially the large ones. Cats usually end up on the bed (at my feet) I really don't mind. I see this as assisting owners while they are away so they do not have some of the problems (and costs) of boarding for their pets. Cats, dogs (including walks), birds, chooks, fish - all OK. Prepared to handle others as well as long as it is not too difficult. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal but the real expectation is that I will deal confidently and lovingly for your pets (and garden, if required). As far as possible, all actions will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the agreement, with the full understanding that where decisions need to be made in a hurry, these can only be based on expectations of a reasonable person under the circumstances. I only need a comfortable bed and the essential cooking facilities. Preferably uncapped internet - not that I watch movies but sometimes it is easier to use TV streaming if 'walkies' coincides with a program that I might like to watch. We are the lucky ones. We get to travel, explore new places, meet new people and look after your pets. My husband Steve and I have 4 grown up daughters, and 3 delightful grandchildren. We have worked hard in our lives, and our time to explore, travel and see our beautiful country is now. We have both been brought up on Dairy and Sheep/Beef farms. We have a small lifestyle block (12 acres) near Taupo where one of our adult children lives. We are very experienced with animals and currently have on our farm, horses, cows, a dog, chickens and a couple of cats. We have previously had beef steers and sheep, including lambing. We have a deep love of animals and both Steve and I are active relaxers, which means your dogs will get loads of walking, activities and cuddles while you are away. We are confident with large animals and will not hesitate to phone a vet in any circumstance. I'm generally adventurous, I grew up as a farmer's daughter, so I appreciate animals and the environment. I have two adult children, one nearby in New Plymouth and the other in Australia. I recently returned from Australia where I had one house-sitting position and three woofing placements. My main past times are gardening, riding my electric bike, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years I've had numerous significant pets. My first was a calf that I cared for and trained. Because of my fondness for her, my Father kept her until I was seventeen when I went to the Waikato to qualify as a Nurse. Another pet I was particularly fond of was a canary, which sang beautifully and I called him Gusto. Unfortunately, he died during covid. More recently I had a stray cat that determinedly made herself home with me. Pets are great companions and I appreciate them very much. I began house-sitting before retirement, and have cared for cats and dogs, plus a few sheep and a donkey. By the way, ours is a story of West meeting East for he is from West Africa and I am from East Africa. My Husband enjoys cooking, playing football and gardening. He transformed my sister's dying flowers to a wonder garden. He always wowed out visitors with his Ghanian cuisines. On the other hand, there is me, who is not a fan of cooking but I enjoy cleaning. I arrived in back NZ early 2022 after spending 19 years in Canada. My husband passed away in 2021. Quite the battle to get into MIQ to return home, with the lotto draw they installed !!! I house sat before leaving for Canada in Omokoroa and Mount Maunganui. One was an Avocado Orchard and they had 70 Parrots in aviaries on the property, such fun. I have been the proud owner of 5 rescue Old English Sheepdogs.. not all at the same time !!!! so I know about grooming. My last dog Boomer was 116lbs, (52.5kg) a big strong boy and the light of our lives. In 2020 we started to foster dogs brought up from Texas from the "high kill" pounds. Copper was our first, A Walker Coon Hound... never heard of them before and what a delight with his howl. I will leave your home as you left it though I do enjoy gardening and cleaning windows... Warm greetings, my name is Kirsty and I am wife to Richard and Mum to two lovely daughters who are 9 and 5. We are ex Aucklanders who moved to Wanganui in 2019. I am a full time Mum (with a background in Event Management), my husband owns his own building company. We are a Christian family who love music, theatre, nature/outdoors, singing, reading, animals and travelling. Our reasons for wanting to house sit are two fold. 1) For opportunities to stay in Auckland for longer term visits to see our family who we really miss and 2) We absolutely love exploring our beautiful country, but as living costs increase it's becoming harder and harder to have holidays away. We usually stay in air bnbs, but house sitting would help us out immensely. We are home owners in Wanganui and we have also extensively used air bnbs to take our girls on mini breaks away. All our reviews from staying in different homes have been A+. We also personally keep a very tidy, organised, clean home in Wanganui. Although we don't own a lot of pets (currently two cats), we love animals! We are very caring by nature and very frequently visit friends farms in Wanganui who have a wide range of pets/farm animals which our girls love to experience. Sometimes myself and the girls would house sit, other times my husband would also join us (depending when the visiting falls in the calendar as my husband is a full time builder so can't always join us on school holidays). Homeowners can expect honest, reliable, communicative, kind sitters from the Singleton family. Our girls are also very respectful and tidy and absolutely love nothing more than 'playing house' when we go on holiday. I believe this would be replicated if we were to house sit. We began housesitting last year in March 2023 as our apartment was and still is!!! undergoing major remedial renovations - ridiculous I know!!. We have thoroughly enjoyed this experience and have loved looking after houses/pets throughout Auckland. As we have enjoyed it so much - we are deciding that even/when our apartment is complete we will be continuing to make ourselves available to housesit. So a little about us: We are a professional couple in their 50's. We are both working full-time in Auckland, but Craig does shift work so there is a lot of time that he is home when I am at work and vice versa. Prior to moving into our apartment we had both cats and dogs as our pets and these were brought up with our three kids, and we have loved interaction with animals that we have been lucky enough to get to know over the last year. If we can assist you by providing safe secure environment for your pets whilst you are not there, we would be delighted to do so. We always treat the home as if it is ours and respect the rules of the house and how you want our interaction with your house and animals to go. I (Julie) am a 5th generation Aucklander and I grew up with two dogs (lab X & mastiff/ridgeback X), four cats, budgies, chickens and even looked after our uncles pet pig! There was always a cat or two on your lap at home, with a dog asleep on your foot, a budgie on the shoulder. I love the fact that we are able to introduce our grandkids to how to treat well with animals and see them grow to love them as we do. Craig (6th generation +) hails from Wellington and now an Aucklander. He has been employed in a senior management role in the government for over 20 years here in Auckland (so I have told him that makes him an Aucklander - but he is apparently only an Aucklander, when Auckland wins in sport!)- and was brought up with smaller dogs (terriers & pugs) and cats. As he works shifts he is often available in the day to walk dogs/ have the cat curl up with him! As stated both of us are full-time workers and have a deep love of animals, therefore, we are motivated and keen to be your sitters.

I have recently found myself looking for a new place to live and have decided to focus on saving a few extra dollars towards a home deposit by venturing back into the world of house-sitting which I did in my early 30's for a period of time. I work part-time as both a Physiotherapist and an Chartered Accountant. My Accountancy work is remote. The only day that I struggle to be home for long periods of time are Tuesday as this is the one full day that I spend in the clinic with clients. I consider myself to be honest, respectful and trustworthy and take great pride in keeping the environments that I am in both clean & tidy and equally leaving them in a better state than in which they were entrusted to me. I love the outdoors and keeping active and healthy and with this I do not smoke (and would therefore not be interested in homes if you are smoker sorry) and love taking dogs on runs / walks with me. As far as personal interests - I am a keen hiker, surfer, sailor, runner (obviously) and definitely enjoy yoga. I have been brought up around animals - I love them - they bring so much joy to our lives! You can be sure that I will love and care for your "family members" as if they were my own. In fact, that's probably the hardest thing about house sitting is not able to take my new found friends with me! I will treat your precious home with respect as if it were my own. My grandmother supplied the local shop and she also keeps bees! My main interests are modern history and modern architecture and vintage engineering (cars aircraft trains and radios). Kia ora everyone. My name's Jenny, and I am a former Dental Nurse from Wellington who is now living and studying a double business major in Whanganui, New Zealand. I moved back to Aotearoa after spending 10 years in Melbourne, Australia where I enjoyed looking after lots of beautiful pets (and even 3 llamas and a goat!). My biggest passions in life, apart from caring for animals, are spending time with friends and family, live music, reading, cooking, and traveling around the beautiful country I grew up in. I love all animals, big and small and grew up a myself with a beautiful Burmese cat named Daisy. Missing the company of animals while I was living in Australia, I decided to take up pet sitting, and now I know I'll continue to pet sit until I'm old and grey. I've met many beautiful pets over the years (you’ll see some of them in my pictures above) with so many colourful personalities and would love to meet your special ones too. Because of Geoff's years spent at sea his opportunities to care for pets have been limited, but in his younger years his family owned cats, dogs and budgies. Geoff and I spend the summer months,October through to April, in New Zealand, which is when we are available for house sitting. We have a yacht berthed in Penang, Malaysia, and we are there during New Zealand's winter months. Geoff has spent nearly 13 years cruising in South East Asia, and I joined him in 2012. Geoff is a shipwright and is capable of servicing a wide range of appliances, machinery etc.He served in the New Zealand navy for 8 years and after leaving he worked as a commercial diver whilst building his first yacht. After sailing for many years in the Pacific, Australia, Africa and Europe, he settled in Brisbane, where he set up his shipwright business. He then built his second yacht and set sail for South East Asia. My previous working life involved a variety of positions, including working as a supervisor in a childcare centre in Waimauku, Auckland, and then as a sterile services technician at North Shore hospital in Auckland. I have two sons who live in the Netherlands and Belgium, and 1 grandson. Because of our lifestyle on the yacht we are organised and tidy in our habits. We enjoy exploring new environments, so house sitting promises to be a great way to meet new people, have some much-needed interaction with animals again, and reunite us with different parts of our country after being away for so many years. We are therefore looking for pet sitting/house sitting missions for about 3 weeks from the beginning of May to the end of May, we are flexible for the dates end of April-mid May :) We see this experience as a global immersion in a local life with the little extra thing of being able to take care of animals. We have always had in our lives the presence of animals (cat, dog, rabbit, chicken, tortoise) we also have experience for animals with particularities (deafness from birth for our dog for example adapted with sign language) or if there is care to be done or treatment to be given with chronic diseases. With more free time at our disposal house sitting becomes an attractive way to be useful to others as well as offering new experiences for us. We have travelled internationally for both business and family overseas, as well as extensively throughout New Zealand, and having lived long spells in Wellington, Auckland and now retired to Bay of Plenty. With the family overseas, often our time away has been for up to 3 months, and on those occasions we have had friends and others staying at our home. We know what it is like to make your home available to others who you are familiar with and some who you are not but still have that small apprehension about whether it will be ok. We know how you are feeling making this commitment. We have been long term dog and cat owners, and currently regularly play house parents to a friend's dog. Walking and appropriate exercise is not a problem. Other friends also call on us to house sit and mind their precious moggy, often for longer periods. With golf being a sport that we both enjoy, the opportunity to play courses in your region is an added appeal for house sitting. but also assures you that we are fit and able to walk as far as your pets need. Choosing us to look after your house and pets will give maximum assurance that all will be well cared for, and treated as if they were our own. Go on your holiday and relax and enjoy in the knowledge that everything at home is being well cared for. When we sit for you, your home and pets are our primary concern. We have also looked after a variety of animals at Tui's Montessori pre-school as well as a couple of house sits now with dogs and cats. We don't have room for animals at our house but would love the children to continue experiencing caring for other peoples pets. During our time living and studying in Auckland we used to house sit for a family friend who lived in Herne Bay. This included looking after their dog Cappuccino. We loved it! We lived in a small apartment in the city, so it felt like such a treat staying in a Herne Bay house with a dog. We have never forgotten how special it was to look after someones home and pet and had the opportunity to explore a new area of Auckland. Recently my 15 coloured sheep and their new lambs have been sold. Caring for others (humans and animals) is what I do best.. Until his recent death I cared for my 86 yr old family friend who had health problems. This enabled him to remain living in his own home. I supported him with his pet dog care, shopping, finances, house work, gardening and companionship for the last 10 years on a regular basis. We are a professional couple taking time out from work to travel and spend time with family. We are 58 and 59-years-old, have been married for 39 years and have three grown up children. We have over 15 years experience caring for and loving pets whilst their Mum and Dad are away. Over these years we have been in lots of different house/pet-sitting situations. One of our first pet sits was for a gorgeous old Collie dog who had diabetes and needed daily injections. He also had two sisters who were cats and we looked after them all for many years. We started house sitting over ten years ago as a friend had 7 cats and was travelling for five months. We have cared for these cats over many years since. During this time, we have had to give medication, visit the vet and as the years progressed look after their personal care needs much more. We have also sat for three dogs for many years; a black Labrador, Chihuahua and a Border Terrier. We are both extremely, kind, loving and practical and have ensured that pets are cared for in the same way we care for our own pets. We treat your babies the same way as we treat our own, giving them our time and immense affection and kindness. We are both at home all day so can give your pets all the attention they need. We love animals and have also spent some time helping look after pigs, hens and horses. I was a Trustee for a small city farm and my husband managed areas of the same farm. We are asked again and again to house sit because we are careful to keep your house beautiful and send regular pictures and updates of how happy your pets are. I have had pets all my life (dogs, cats, fish, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs), but am currently pet-less after discovering one of my kids had allergies. I now live just north of Auckland which means I sometimes need to seek overnight stays in the city and have built up quite a lot of house/cat/plant and garden-sitting experience within my friend circle. I also fostered cats of all ages for a while, many with socialisation and/or medical requirements. I speak fluent 'cat' (have been called a cat whisperer before haha) - not as fluent in 'dog' admittedly, but have enormous love for all animals. I will be out or working during daytime hours however, so only morning and/or evening walkies will have to suffice. I am also a Mum of 3 grown kids and used to have 6 lovely chooks and a bee hive in the garden. I am an introverted Canadian-born, sea-loving Kiwi (Caniwi) - have lived in Aotearoa for over 20 years. I am a very fit and active retiree. I left the workforce eight years ago to travel to various parts of the world, including some of NZ which I hadn’t yet been to. I have been involved in sport all my life and interested in organics and sustainabilities for many years, so decided to become a Woofer (Willing Worker On Organic Farms). I have thoroughly enjoyed all my placements in NZ, Australia, USA and Portugal. I have visited places and met people that I would never had the chance as a tourist and learnt about growing fruits, vegetables and raising animals in an totally organic and sustainable manner. I have looked after many animals and learnt how to give back to the land for future harvests. Six years ago in 2018 I bought a lifestyle property in the Far North, so have not been able to travel as much, or house sit as I used to, while working hard on my land. Now however I have more spare time, & look forward to being able to travel in NZ. I currently work on my orchard of 100+ trees of every description imaginable, & 4 large vegetable plots. I farm totally organically, eat in season, & am self sufficient(++) with fruit, vegetables & eggs from my 5 chickens. I am able to swap my excesses for milk, meat, cheese & bread! I feel very fortunate. I also have extra acreage which I use for growing grass, (local farmer makes hay in summer). I have also done two caminos (long walks) in both France, and Portugal into Spain. These were 750 and 700km respectively, in 2014 & 2017. My most recent was from Lisbon, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I have been a proud homeowner since 1980. As a house sitter, you will have someone with old fashion values of care & respect for your property, a good work ethic, totally reliable & honest. As for pets, when my children were growing up, we had a Staffordshire bull terrier, rabbits, cats, cockatiel and baby goats. Currently I have 5 chickens. While woofing I have looked after lots of dogs, cats, goats (learnt to milk), chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, and loved all those times. My woofing hosts would sometimes leave me to house sit at weekends, or in one case, for 10 days when an unavoidable event happened. On that occasion I looked after a small farmlet of goats, cows chickens, vegetable garden, orchard....the entire property. I loved the challenge and was totally equal to the task of overall management. I love outdoors work. Obviously I enjoy walking, so dogs love me for their twice daily long walks. Also, living on Great Barrier by the beach and lots of bushwalks on my doorstep, I really appreciate taking dogs for a run. I grew up on a dairy farm in Bavaria, Germany surrounded by cats, dogs, chooks and other animals, I am an experienced and a very caring and loving pet mother. In my downtime on Great Barrier, I volunteered for St. Johns as a first responder, where I was a keen and trusted volunteer member under Adam Johnston, so police check is nothing new to me. Apparently, I am a very tidy and quiet person, don't smoke or drink and love cleaning the house or doing the dishes, as I find it meditative and relaxing. Also, studying late in my life is fun and I am focused on spending the weekends with my daughter who is boarding in Auckland. I am financially independent, but looking after big homes and pets is what I used to do (privately) on Great Barrier Island as a favor towards friends or even Massage clients owing a holiday home there. He was very active and we walked twice a day. I volunteered for the Golden Retriever rescue for 6 years interviewing adopters, walking the goldens, and picking up very frightened golden's from shelters to bring into our rescue. I have always had a cat, the biggest love of them was 19 when he passed on. I have a 5 yr old rescue black cat. I also grew up with chooks. I am a competent horse rider and will consider looking after most animals. Would love to throw on my gum boots and head out to the paddock to cover a horse or move an animal to another paddock. Cam and I(Meg) are long term renters and through working seasonally we have lived in multiple peoples personal homes (i.e. not strictly rental properties) while they have relocated elsewhere for the respective season. Through these living arrangements we have felt fortunate to have a close relationship with the homeowners, which for us, creates a deeper respect of the property and the things living on it (some previous examples include many plants and a cat). As a house sitter you can expect us to care for your space like it is our own, to the standards you expect. I have various volunteer roles here, plus grandchildren, and Robin is a trauma therapist working from home - he retired from a medical career in 2020. My sister and I sold our family home in Auckland and decided to 'take a break' from it all and she suggested we try house-sitting. I see this as a win-win for all parties involved, especially the pets as they get to be looked after and cared for in their own home. I love helping owners relax when they go away, providing them with peace of mind knowing that all is well with their loved ones and home. Massimo, my Staffordshire Bull Terrier of 13 years past away in November 2015 (see photo in my profile) and I miss him dearly. This is also a great way of getting my regular 'pet fix' and enjoying a variety of new canine/ feline friends. As a keen photographer, I am also looking forward to exploring and taking some great shots of the local areas. I also love photographing pets whilst they're relaxed at home, so leave me a USB drive and there should be some nice portraits waiting on your return! For the last 20 years I've been working in the support side of Information Technology and will be using this time to research a new career in Organisational Development. This means I will be there for pets that are used to constant companionship as I have my own PC and will spend a fair amount of time on the internet doing this and other leisure activities. Having also owned my own home, I've had cats and/ or dogs for most of my life and will care and cherish yours as if they were my own and I know what it means to take care of and run a household. We both love to walk and do lengthier hikes & can be found in the mornings trying to beat each other at Wordle & Quordle. We are both people who take pride and care not only in our home (including the grounds) but any home we visit or stay in. We absolutely both respect your home is your castle, that your pets are your joy and we want you to go away knowing we will love your animals and care for them & your house (and grounds if required) so you can just relax. We are both writers, working in the tourism sector, and we met in beautiful Bali where we have been living since 1998 and 2006. We have travelled extensively in Indonesia, including trips to some of the country's remotest corners. We have been together for 15 years, we got married in New Zealand in 2021, and we are now living our dream dividing our time between Bali and New Zealand with a little bit of England and Europe thrown in along the way. We spend five months in Bali each year, one month in Europe and the UK, and six months in New Zealand from December to June. We invite guests to stay in our house in Bali and do home exchanges when we are in New Zealand and Europe, hence us looking for some more places to stay in New Zealand. We are both animal lovers, having rescued numerous cats and dogs off the streets in Bali over the many years that we have lived here. They all became much loved members of our respective households until our last cat and finally our last dog crossed the rainbow bridge a few years ago. We miss them terribly but when we made the lifestyle change to divide our time between Bali and New Zealand, we made the decision not to get any more pets. However, our love and respect for animals has not diminished and that is why we look forward to looking after other people's pets. We both work from home so will be around nearly all day every day to give your animals all the love and attention they need. What you will get with us is two very caring, professional, respectful people who understand the need for absolute trust on both sides when looking after other people’s cherished homes and beloved pets. Currently we are waiting for our new apartment in Northcote (Auckland) to be completed (expected settlement early 2025) and looking after other people’s houses has proven to be a great way to bridge that period and to have a change of scenery after we’ve moved into our new apartment. We have quite a number very successful house sits already and loved the experience. We ran a Homestay/B&B in Wellington for more than 6 years, so we are experienced with looking after accommodation and we know the importance of keeping a house clean, tidy and well presented! We have always taken pride in our house, which was very obvious when the real estate agent who sold our current house remarked that she wished everybody’s house looked like this. Jos is retired, while Lucien still works full-time as a software developer from home, so at least one of us will always be there to keep your dog company. A fast and reliable internet connection is the only ‘must’. We have had dogs and cats ourselves - Golden Retrievers for many years, and a sweet little Cavoodle for the last 12 years (who sadly passed away last year) - and we have been looking after cats, dogs, houses and the occasional chicken for months now, so we know how to care for animals, and are happy to care for yours. When you select us as your house sitters you can expect that we treat your house, belongings and pets as if hey are our own, with care, dignity and respect.

When I was married and we bought our first house, having pets was a top priority. After 3 years we had 3 cats (Tabby, Tina and Kate) and 2 Beagles (Tony and Lucy). I have mainly worked in Computer and Project environments but after studying one year part time for an Animal Care certificate I worked 5 days a week in my normal job and 1 day at a well established and reputable Vet clinic in Remuera. By this stage I was divorced and the family consisted of the beagles, Tabby and me. I have also been a volunteer kennel assistant at SPCA. I am comfortable giving medication to pets and have looked after cats, dogs, birds, fish and rats. All of my animals have lived a happy and long life. Tony suffered from cancer later in his life but with care and chemo from VSG and at home he got a new lease of life and was with me for another 2 years of quality time. I no longer have pets of my own so I would really love the opportunity to care for yours, either outside of Auckland when I ready for a break or in Auckland for a 'staycation' I am mature, responsible, respectful and resourceful. Kia ora, we are Rosie and Taz. We have lived in New Zealand since winter of 2022 and have been professionally housesitting for the last 18 months. Rosie's father is from NZ and Taz has extended family who emigrated here many years ago. We plan to make our long term home in New Zealand. In our personal lives we have cared for many dogs and cats in houseshares in the UK (where we lived previously) including rescuing and raising a GSD mix at 9 months old (Hank) between 4 friends. Hank is now 10 and thriving! We understand housesit-ees with rescue pets may have more concerns due to their pets rescue 'quirks' but want them to know we are very familiar with this territory. Patience and consistency are so important and we are happy to take on the routines needed so your pet is at their best while you are gone. I have done a lot of housing sitting over the years and have cared for and feed many animals. Auckland for 3 months looking after dogs and cats. Farm animals or feeding chickens, which is no problem as I am a country girl at heart. I have had looked after 3 large dogs. One that required monitored medication daily and exercise. I have also had to feed unwell cats medicine etc and have no problem caring for your pets no matter what there needs. I enjoy the company of animals especially since I am away from home so much. I love all animals and especially their little characters. Whilst I am at home during the summer months, I used to host overseas students that come to NZ to learn English. I have had many students over the years, Swiss, Thai, Arabian, Japanese, Chiian, Brazilian. We are a couple in our late 20s and early 30s living in Wellington. We love housesitting because it combines two of the things we both really love; travelling and pets. Due to our current migratory situation we do not have pets and house sitting is a way we can enjoy the company of animals and explore new suburbs. We have both had dogs and cats in the past. Nachi has also volunteered with the SPCA where she looked after chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs amongst others. She also attended a farm school and has experience caring for farm animals. We believe that animals are part of the family and will go above and beyond to ensure they are well looked after and don't miss their human family too much while you are away. We have been housesitting since June 2021 and have become the biggest fans of it. We love being able to meet and spend time with many different fur-friends. Life is one big adventure! I like to be kept busy; I love to travel, discovering out of the way places, meeting new people & embracing life. But my family pets have always been a top priority. House sitting offers some exciting opportunities, but more specifically it will provide me with the pleasures of 'adopting' your family pets, if only for a short time. (And, I certainly miss not having my own pet to care for). There has always been a cat or dog (or both) in the house and then there have been the children's tropical fish, German rat, guinea pigs, rabbits, and birds! We've even had a couple of cats 'adopt' us! I also volunteered for 18 months at a bird rescue centre a few years ago which was a very rewarding experience. From a young age until her early 20s, I also used to spend a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm where they had a dairy herd, goats and a chicken run. Animals have always featured in my life. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful House & pet sitting opportunities over the past 3 years (with a global house sitting company) looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds - most of these sits were while I was based in the UK. I'm now cutting back on my time away from NZ and, after hearing very positive comments about The Housesitting Company, have decided to join so that I can focus more on NZ sits. My father and his ancestors came from the Isle of Mull, my mother’s from Northern Ireland. My accent is hard to place, as I have travelled extensively in my life and have had to learn to modify my accent over the years, to be comprehensible to others. I am a very friendly and gregarious soul, who loves the company of both people and animals. I have worked in mental health for over 30 years; initially, as a psychiatric nurse and later as a mental health clinician and therapist. I have also worked in performing arts for nearly as long, as a professional actor mainly. These days, I combine my love of theatre and education to teach others some successful strategies, to navigate the bumpy paths of life. I do a little bit of homeschool teaching and I am an instructor at the New Zealand Stage and Screen combat school in Birkenhead. I came back home to New Zealand in March 2020, after having lived back in the UK for a couple of years, looking after my father. I came back to Auckland for my son’s wedding and found myself marooned due to the Covid lockdown. My father died shortly after I arrived and therefore I have no need to go back in the UK. My life and living is very flexible as a single man of 54 years of age. I enjoy playing my ukulele and singing every day and have a successful Christmas business, portraying Father Christmas himself. I have had pets all my life, both cats and dogs, when living in my own property. Since being marooned here in 2020, I have missed them dearly. Two weeks 2014. Other times in Auckland, while a friend visited UK, collected mail, fed cat, clean house, water plants, this lasted five weeks. At present restoring a colonial house in Leigh area, caring for cats, little goats, chickens and a dog, since then work has stopped. My latest Housesit was in Western Springs for ten days, the ginger cat Lucy had a stroke so needed a lot of care. Lucy loved to sleep on the bed with me, I loved having her close. The other cat Diesel was more independent. My other duties were watering the garden and collecting the mail. Also over the Xmas new year period I went to houses with sole purpose of feeding, patting and caring for four different cats. Also specialise in turtle minding, feeding for my son and his girlfriend. I am an animal lover who is kind and considerate who will care for your pets and house with love. Hello, I have been housesitting for over 6 yrs now and have been so fortunate to have stayed in many lovely homes in the Bay of Plenty, Taupo & Auckland. The gorgeous pets I have cared for include cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, sheep, chickens, cows, and guinea pigs. I do prefer to look after cats as I work during the day (Please note: I do not work from home, I work as a temp) if you have a dog that can be left for the day that may work to. I love meeting new pets and especially love to catch up with wee friends I have cared for in the past. I absolutely adore cats and dogs, and have met some very interesting characters along the way! and I look forward to meeting many more. I grew up with a Cat and dog, and just love their company and playing with them, and don't mind at all if they snuggle up in bed. I'm also happy to administer medication and flea treatments etc. and take your wee friend to the vet if required. I can assure you that your house will be spotless on your return and I will treat it as if it were my own home, I'm quite the perfectionist. More than happy to water plants, garden etc. and really whatever else needs to be done, you only have to ask. My gardening experience is very limited & I don't mow lawns. Antoine remotely works for a company based in Dunedin. Antoine's flexibility for work means he can travel around a bit. We currently live in Warkworth. Greetings and kia ora. My name is Tootje, and my husband, Kazen and I immigrated to beautiful New Zealand nine years ago. Because we pretty much had to start our lives from scratch (financially speaking), we haven't had much opportunity to travel this picturesque country we now reside in. So I guess you could say, one of the reasons we'd love to do more house-sitting is to have a change of scenery, see a little more of New Zealand and spend our free time enjoying a different perspective of its beautiful cities and towns. We're currently unable to care for pets of our own, and being animal lovers, we miss that interaction with furry friends. In the past (in South Africa) we've house-sat relatively frequently for friends and family, all of which had fur children. Because we come from a country that teaches one (quite quickly in life) to be aware of one's surroundings, we're very security conscious. So looking after your home, would be like looking after our own. In fact I'd say, that's the attitude we have in general - treat other's possessions as though they are your own. And that naturally, includes your pets. I've cared for a terminally ill pet for a month, and we've consoled and reassured pets that generally don't eat when their owners are absent for a while, to do so. We've snuggled and loved pets that just needed to feel at home and comfortable in their surroundings when mum, dad and kids stepped away for a few days, and generally just needed people to meet their basic, and not so basic needs. If you were to ask our friends and family what we were like as house-sitters, they'd say things like, "they always left the house cleaner than they found it". They were reliable, trustworthy, dependable, honest, respectful and never left the house during the duration of their stay, barring having to pop down to the shops for groceries. If you feel like we'd be a suitable fit, in terms of what you require as home and pet owners, we'd love to care for and secure your abode and cherished pets, whilst you're away from them. We are retired and are fit and young at heart. We have been house sitting for the last three years, both in New Zealand and Australia. We are super tidy, especially my wife! and we love pets. Until we traveled abroad for career purposes, we always had pets and dog for the family. When the children were little we had a pooch, black and fluffy for about 14 years, growing up they had the company of a black Labrador. Coming to Fiji we looked after our friends dog for 2 years, a large doberman, one that would lick you to death! And just lately again to help out friends going overseas for 12 months a beautiful German Sheppard and the cat, both couldn't live without the other, and together they provided most of the entertainment! I love walking, and it just isn't the same without a best friend. We know pets love routine, and we will enjoy to fit in with your regular way of looking after them. We are used to having pets, enjoy spending time with pets, and understand their needs of companionship. We have six children, all grown up with their own family. Having had a significant overseas and New Zealand based career, we have had the benefit of high end company homes to live in. References on how we looked after these homes are readily available. What you can expect is, to return to your home with pleasure, absolutely spotlessly kept, both inside and out, including any pool maintenance and garden maintenance. Reasons for house sitting: - Currently residing with my parents to save for my first home. - I am quite sensitive to my environments - this means I need a tidy, clean, quiet space to meditate or practice yoga. - Travel is important to me, I like to explore new areas and communities even if it is just around the corner! I am a very nurturing person and have a lot of experience house sitting for friends and family. This time last year I spent three months in a home with two goats, two horses, five chickens and a beautiful veggie patch. I have grown up with cats and chickens my whole life and lived on a farm the last 1.5yrs with five working dogs, cattle, at least twenty horses and of course ducks and chickens. I understand the responsibility it takes to look after animals and as much as I am there to feed and look after them, I love to be around them. I am a morning person and need to spend an hour at least outside before starting my day - yes especially in winter! In every home, I always enter with the care that it is my own. I had the opportunity over seas cleaning luxury homes and still have the pleasure of cleaning to this standard. How I take care of my home space is a reflection of how I take care of myself, as a house sitter I plan to look after the space as If I was never there and I am also a bit of an introvert, so the home is a space I can be on my own - of course, hopefully in the company of a pet. Over the last five or so years I also worked as a freelance decorator so I am handy around the house if needed. I am observant and am happy to report if something doesn't seem right and communicate together how you would like something to be resolved. I work in the film industry. While this means long and intensive hours when films are shooting... At the moment our 2 children in their twenties are in the UK. Circumstances make it necessary for us to return to the UK from May 23rd to September 12th so we will be unavailable during that period. We are pretty much home birds and are very happy to chill and read or make friends with your lovely pets. We have house sat before for a variety of pets - cats, chickens, fish, dogs - and very much enjoyed this. The main reason being that we are animal lovers and Lesley especially is feeling pet deprived at the moment since having to put down our most adored cat Ginger 18 months ago. We have taken the decision not to replace him at for the moment so she has become that annoying person that has to pet everybody's dog on the beach and talk to every cat in the street! Kia Ora! We’re Emma and Elias, twins on tour through New Zealand with a working holiday visa, eager to explore the country and its people. Whilst looking for an accommodation we’ve stumbled upon house/pet sitting, which seemed perfect to us both. Both of us adore pets and animals in general and even though we only have fish at home;), both of us have plenty of experience, especially with dogs. I, Emma, did a school exchange in 2020 and lived in a family with 3 dogs (a husky and 2 adopted strays). I took care of them every day of the year, taking all three of them on long walks through the beautiful nature of Andalusia and still, almost three years later, I miss them dearly. I also made a habit out of going to the local Dog-Rescue-Center, taking little pups without a home on walks along the beach. I, Elias, have a close friend with 3 young australian shepherds. Back in Germany I joined them for a walk every day over the last year and cared for them whenever the family was away. I’ve helped educating them since the age of 12 weeks and went through all stages of adolescence with the little rascals. All three of them have a special place in my heart and they will be my first stop when this travel experience comes to an end. Even though both of us have more experience taking care of dogs, we have helped friends and family with cats whenever we had the chance to. If you choose us as sitters you can expect two young, responsible adults to take care of both your home and your animal/s with lots of love and passion. Also, we bring plenty of time with us due to us not working at all or only working part time! That means we are very flexible and can always prioritize your pet/s. I recently retired after 30 years owning and operating a successful film company in Auckland. I specialised in filming pet food TV commercials where I developed a knack for patience and perseverance to relax animals in order to get those magic natural shots that pet owners love. I worked closely with Mark Vette and Flip Calkoen over many years to develop this special relationship. Everyone's pets are different and require careful handling, especially when their owners are away for a week or two. I try to create a seamless transition to avoid any unnecessary disruption to their routine. I have owned quite a few interesting dogs over the years including a cocker spaniel, a doberman, blue healer and a border collie black lab x, plus several lovely cats. I am a 70 year old single male with 3 adult children and 5 grand children. I lead a fit and healthy lifestyle. I have always had a cat and dog as I believe they add something unique to our lives - especially with a young family. I am also very 'house proud' and a home handyman which comes in handy when little things go wrong. As you leave your home is how you will find it when you return. I have recently house sat for a number of people with pets and loved it. I believe that trust is paramount when you are caring for someone's home and pets.When I take on this responsibility I do so with total commitment. Plus I have always had a very caring nature when it comes to animals which puts them at ease. I have a large station wagon perfect for transporting wet dogs to and from their favourite beach or park. My home is now in the Hawke's Bay where I have property investments, but I travel up to Auckland most months to visit my family, so house sitting in Auckland gives me the opportunity to be closer to them for longer periods. Prior to this I lived at Piha for many years and was very involved in many local community projects, including 'The Water Board' & 'Barnett Hall'. I'm currently working on writing and publishing my second book so house sitting provides me with the opportunity to work on this in my down time. Hi! My partner Alev and I are on the journey of saving for our first home together. House sitting is a great option for us as we both love variety and spending time with animals. We consider it an honor to be given the custodial responsibilities of someone else's home and pets. Alev is from Istanbul, the city of cats, so she has a natural affinity and affection for cats and all animals for that matter. I'm the favorite of my family's pets Badger and Poppy ( a tempestuous but gorgeous rescue cat and a mischievous but, ever-faithful Sweedish Vallhund) I am an artist and I also work as a handyman. Alev is an architect working for a company in the city. We love nature and gardening and planting our own fruit and vegetables. We are both clean and tidy and have an appreciation for the space we live in. We will make sure that your house is well looked after. We are a couple in our late twenties and have been together for four years. We love to travel and have travelled throughout the world together for the last 4 years. We have recently immigrated from Ireland to New Zealand on a working holiday visa. Kia ora! I am Zisa. I am a decent professional, in my late 40s, a registered teacher and guidance counselor in the Philippines. I was an international school teacher between 2000-2008 (Thailand, China and Indonesia). I am a sociable person but mostly I enjoy quiet and solitude. I am a registered secondary teacher here in New Zealand. I have completed my Teacher Education Refresh programme with the University of Auckland Epsom campus. I finished my pre-service teacher training at Macleans College last May 2023. Currently, I am a relief teacher at Macleans College. My son is a Year 2 student at Cockle Bay School. When I was a teacher in Beijing, friends asked me to house sit and care for their pets and I was happy with the experience. In the Philippines, I have Australian friends who asked me to house sit for them also. Growing up in the farm, we have a lot of pets and domestic animals - cats, dogs, chickens, cows, ducks, fish, goats, geese, turkeys, horse. When I was in my teens, my dad thought that the best way to teach me about responsibility was by letting me take care of birds - love birds and other breeds. I love animals and have had a variety of pets including dogs, cats, fish and birds including chickens, so I understand how hard it can be when you have to leave them with strangers. I used to regularly look after a landlady's pets including a Shitzu, 3 cats, a parrot, a cockatiel and a canary, and I used to run my own cleaning business, so you will come back to a house at least as clean as I found it. My background is in nursing so I am used to administering medication, including insulin, to people and would be willing to learn to administer it to pets if required. In my current business as a freelance Proofreader and Editor and Life Coach, all I need is a WiFi connection and I can work from anywhere, which means that your pets will be seeing a lot of me, so more cuddles and exercise for everyone, and more security for your home and for your peace of mind. Previously I worked for nursing and care agencies which involved working in residential homes caring for people, frequently in new environments, so I am used to being able to quickly assess my surroundings and situations and deal with the unexpected when necessary. Every job I have had has required a police check due to the nature of my profession so rest assured that I am responsible and trustworthy. I retired and was also widowed in 2020, and have recently relocated from Christchurch to Auckland to be closer to family, so I have plenty of spare time on my hands and am available at fairly short notice.
