North Island
From the warm, sub-tropical climate of the Far North, to the great surf beaches of the west, to the creative community in Wellington, the North Island has something for everyone. The city of Auckland is a vibrant, multicultural one, as is Wellington, the capital and home to the New Zealand Parliament, as well as the famous Weta Workshop. Head into the centre of the North Island and you’ll find the magnificent Lake Taupo, whilst a short drive away is the tourist destination of Rotorua. There is so much more too, just ask anyone who has been to the spectacular region of Taranaki, or the beautiful Bay of Plenty, Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa. Lots of people save up to travel the North Island. And when you house sit, living rent-free is a great way to save.
